Ube Cheesecake and Coffee ice cream
    Paige M.

An Austin staple that always delivers. I love to try new things and the ube cheesecake ice cream was new to me and has a nice visual appeal. It tasted great and I think would be really fun for kids as an approachable flavor with a fun color. Then I got my coffee ice cream standby scoop underneath. It was a surprisingly good pairing. I really wish they had WiFi is my only criticism. I stoped to work for an hour between meetings and would have stopped somewhere different had I known.

It was my first time visiting Amy's. I would say it's similar to a cold stones. This is a mom and pop Austin vibe. You get to choose from three sizes. Tiny, Small, and Large. As far as the Tiny goes , your add ins will be on top. They can't mix it into your ice cream. The girl was patient and informed us they couldn't mix it in. It's a nice place to try for the first time.

    Surprise Me Sundae (rating: 5/5)

This is my partner's all-time favorite ice cream shop. I finally understood why! We tried his usual - Surprise Me, which is letting the staff come up with whatever combo they can. According to my partner, Surprise Me never disappointed. That's surely true! The staff made us a sundae with Mexican Vanilla scoop & Pumpkin scoop, with crackers and other stuff mixed in, and caramel sauce on top. To my surprise, this combo is heavenly!!! Many of the ingredients he added would've never been picked by me. That's the magic of Surprise Me - you get to try something beyond your own imagination/preference and let it surprise your tastebud! Amy's has become my new favorite! Creativity delivers better treats than simple good old flavors.

This is another Amy's location that has impressed me! I ordered a small cup of Walter's Bay Chai and my mom ordered a kiddie cup of Belgian Chocolate. We enjoyed our ice cream. Next time, I will mix both flavors by getting a scoop of each in one cup. The server working behind the counter was alone and doing an excellent job of taking care of all the customers. The bathroom had time sensitive finger pedals that you press down on to dispense hot or cold water. There was soft pop music playing and lots of families dining inside. I noticed a photo booth in the back that looked like fun. They even have a walk-up window outside to order for your convenience. It is a popular location and I plan to return soon.

I love the fun and colorful interior that definitely screams ice cream shop! Got two flavors to share - Mexican vanilla that uses a Mexican vanilla bean and taste more fragrant than regular vanilla bean. The flavor is more amped up. The other one I think was a seasonal flavored called Texas something... it was a chocolate ice cream with chocolate cookies mixed into it. Very sinful and pretty sweet but good thing they do offer water at the shop. I like that they do have new flavors every so often to keep it interesting.

The ice cream was rich and good portion size. I got a small size and struggled to finish it. Definitely worth the price and dog friendly.

Pricey but tasty! They still have super strict covid orders. No dine in, no sampling, no standing close to the counter, etc. It felt odd, bc Texas has been open for sooo long! We wanted to dine in, but no big deal. Eating Ice cream in the car is not so bad! They had several fun flavors to choose from. I love the crafty combos they have come up with. I went with s'mores ice cream. It's a marshmallow base with biscoff cookies and chocolate chunks. I added cookie dough (+$1)bc how can you not have ice cream with out it!? Everything was super good! I would totally order that again, however they have so many other options I would prob be tempted to try something else! I would recommend the original location bc I Believe it has the most flavor options! This place was clean, tidy, and the service was great! I would come back!

I mean you can see for yourself that the ice cream sandwich looks 10 out of 10 fire. I did the custom ice cream sandwich with vanilla ice cream two different cookies- one was the gooey butter cake (overpowering after a few bites) did not finish & the other was like a oreo & cookie mix (much better) and did finish. Vanilla ice cream was decent, but nothing special. I might get it again if I was in the area and really had a sweet tooth, but I would definitely go for some different flavors because they just didn't hit the same this time.

A milestone. A monument. A celebration of a man whose legend looms over Austin like a slightly tipsy bat. Nate Gardog & Co bravely ordered what was advertised as an Oreo cake meant to serve 4-5 humans. What arrived, however, was not a cake. It was not even a mini-cake. It was... a cupcake wearing platform shoes. A baked good masquerading as something it clearly was not. The bag was on us, literally and spiritually. Shane--who, need I remind you, is an Austin icon, a man whose culinary preferences are practically carved into the walls of Barton Springs--was forced to confront this fraudulent pastry. And let me tell you: no man deserves this. Not at 38. Not ever. If the staff at Amy's were the true clairvoyants we believed them to be, they would have inherently known Shane's one, true, universal flavor: Funfetti. Classic. Chaotic. Confetti for the soul. Yet here we stood. Funfetti-less. Candle-less. Hope-less. As the final insult, there were no candles. Not even a sad, melted tea light from the back. Nothing to blow out except disappointment. In conclusion: the vibes were off, the cake was tiny, and Shane--our dear, beloved Shane--deserved better.

It's not a sitdown place so keep that in mind for your stop, but the line does move fast and they are very efficient. There's a good variety of flavors and things they serve from italian ice to ice cream and shakes. We opted for a strawberry italian ice with condensed milk on top. From the first bite we were in heaven. The flavor is very thorough which is not always the case for Italian ices where it can sometimes be a bit muted. Every single bite of this was packed with flavor. They also carve out a bit of the middle to put the condensed milk which makes every bite much more equal than if it was just placed at the top. This was by far one of, if not the best, Italian ices we've ever had. We would very much recommend it to anyone in the Downtown area looking to cool off.
