A must do whenever you have a sweet craving at the Austin Airport! Mexican Vanilla, Sweet Cream, Butter Pecan, all super creamy/chewy and have a nice mild taste. Plus, if you see Bee Cave Crunch on the menu, consider it a lucky day, as that flavor is to die for! Service is always fast and friendly. A large cup, with 3 flavors in it, was under $8. They also have pints on the side to Grab and Go.

It's not a trip to Austin without a trip to Amy's. Amy's Ice Creams has been one of my favorite ice cream shops for years and the airport location is no exception. The flavor selection rotates from a list of 350 varieties so there's always something I like. My favorite is Mexican Veganilla (vegetarian vanilla) in a cone. When I'm in the mood I'll top it with chocolate chips or sprinkles. It hits the spot every time. The ice cream is the highlight, but I also love how engaged the business is within the Texas community. The shops offer a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere and staff is always very friendly. They always make me feel at home. When you're in the area, don't miss a chance to enjoy some Amy's Ice Cream, Texas style. I highly recommend it! Pro Tip: If you don't eat dairy, they also offer dairy-free ice cream and vegan ice-based flavors!

It's way too sweet and dense I could barely finish the tiny scoop. I generally prefer creamy ice cream, but this is also too creamy and fatty.

The Local (sub Snickers. Add Dutch chocolate)

Usually I expect airport locations of popular local establishments to provide watered down service and a moderately similar product to their out of airport counterparts. Never would I have thought I'd find an airport location superior to the original but this spot breaks the mold! The service is friendly and efficient. The staff will occasionally perform ice cream tricks, make modifications when requested, and always provide conversation, samples and a fun time! I ordered The Local, a sweet cream base Sunday with mixed nuts, sea salt, and marshmallows folded in. The entire concoction is topped with fudge and a passions sprinkle of sea salt and hot fudge. I'm aware that my dessert doesn't look like the most aesthetic dessert you've ever seen, but it certainly delivers in flavor! After trying the dark chocolate, I mixed that in too, and subbed the marshmallows for snickers because...calories don't count in the airport right? Right?! Anyways, if you're having a tough airport day, or need an airport pick me up in anyway, this is THE spot. Pro tip: since this spot does not have seating of its own. Take your ice cream for a walk towards the lower numbered gates until you find live music (it's usually playing), or the comfortable, blue, floor to window facing lounge seats. Bonus points if you catch either during sunset!

Amy's is a must-go if you're at the Austin airport. I've tried this exact Amy's a few different times now and the flavors seemed decent...until I recently tried their Sesame flavor and it blew my mind. The base is their Sweet Cream, mixed with white sesame butter. It's sweet, savory, and perfectly balanced. The texture also has the right stringy "pull". 11/10.

Tried the Mexican vanilla and the Belgian chocolate. I liked the vanilla more. The chocolate was too sweet for my taste but it was good too. The service was fast.

As always, this is the perfect treat for our layovers. They always have at least one vegan option as well which is a big plus!

While at the Austin airport, I wanted ice cream and we happened to walk past Amy's. I had to stop and get some. I got the Belgian Chocolate and enjoyed it.

I was looking for baskin, came across Amy's instead. Loved loved the Mexican vanilla flavor. Creamy. Not super frozen, hate the brain freeze that comes from some ice cream shops. And very reasonably priced. Tiny scoop is really not that tiny.

    cute packaging

Had 20 mins before my flight on a 90 degree humid blazing hot day. This place felt like a god send! The staff were very kind and were all smiling. I'm not much of a topping person, but they have an option where if you don't want toppings, you can just take a cup you want and skip the line. The portion size was PERFECT, and oftentimes mint chocolate chip ice cream mostly just green liquid and a few choco chips, but this one had a really great ratio. Yummy, delicious, and can't think of a single complaint!

I just have to say, bless the AUS airport for having an Amy's Ice Creams counter. There was a little bit of a line but it moved pretty quickly. The servers were excellent and knowledgeable about all my ice cream questions. It's also located near other great food options, so my mom and I were able to grab some tacos and then get the ice cream here for desert. The spot is adorable and next to the cutest airport bookshop. Anyway, will make a stop here any time I'm at this airport.

Really exceptional ice cream - I was pleasantly surprised. I got coffee with a mix in of Heath (small size) and it was perfect. Super creamy and dense, definitely get your money's worth. Service is fast. They have smoothies too.

Luis was great. Let me try several flavors and told me I can get different flavors. Settled on coffee mixed w butterfingers and heath bar and a little of the mixed berry tres leches which he said was his current favorite. They mix it on the cold stone which was fun and cool to watch. Great service.

Ask the Community - Amy's Ice Creams

I can't find a true ingredient list anywhere. I have some life threatening food and preservative allergies. I was told "no preservatives" by a clerk but I see a large number of ingredients that are customarily sulfited. (cherries, lemon, coconut)?

Vanilla ice cream was decent, but nothing special. I might get it again if I was in the area and really had a sweet tooth, but I would definitely go for some different flavors because they just didn't hit the same this time.

A milestone. A monument. A celebration of a man whose legend looms over Austin like a slightly tipsy bat. Nate Gardog & Co bravely ordered what was advertised as an Oreo cake meant to serve 4-5 humans. What arrived, however, was not a cake. It was not even a mini-cake. It was... a cupcake wearing platform shoes. A baked good masquerading as something it clearly was not. The bag was on us, literally and spiritually. Shane--who, need I remind you, is an Austin icon, a man whose culinary preferences are practically carved into the walls of Barton Springs--was forced to confront this fraudulent pastry. And let me tell you: no man deserves this. Not at 38. Not ever. If the staff at Amy's were the true clairvoyants we believed them to be, they would have inherently known Shane's one, true, universal flavor: Funfetti. Classic. Chaotic. Confetti for the soul. Yet here we stood. Funfetti-less. Candle-less. Hope-less. As the final insult, there were no candles. Not even a sad, melted tea light from the back. Nothing to blow out except disappointment. In conclusion: the vibes were off, the cake was tiny, and Shane--our dear, beloved Shane--deserved better.

Located on 6th Street, Jim Jim's is surprisingly accessible with parking spots available out front and just around the corner. It's not a sitdown place so keep that in mind for your stop, but the line does move fast and they are very efficient. There's a good variety of flavors and things they serve from italian ice to ice cream and shakes. We opted for a strawberry italian ice with condensed milk on top. From the first bite we were in heaven. The flavor is very thorough which is not always the case for Italian ices where it can sometimes be a bit muted. Every single bite of this was packed with flavor. They also carve out a bit of the middle to put the condensed milk which makes every bite much more equal than if it was just placed at the top. This was by far one of, if not the best, Italian ices we've ever had. We would very much recommend it to anyone in the Downtown area looking to cool off.
