This is my first trying Paperboy, I've heard many great things about it. The wait can get long on the weekends so I recommend going earlier before the rush. The ambiance in here is warm and inviting, there is a lot of natural light in here. It did get a little hot sitting at the table near the door but otherwise it felt nice in here. I ordered the chicken & biscuit along with a cheddar hash brown. I thought the food was pretty pricey but again this is Austin. The chicken was crispy, but a bit more crispy than you think it is. I had some parts where I felt like I was eating chicken jerky but the flavor was nice. I enjoyed the hot honey sauce on the chicken. The biscuit was harder than I expected it to be. Overall the food here was fine, a bit on the pricier side. Also, the parking here is limited as it is all street parking in an alley.
This restaurant is located in a small, quaint neighborhood, and like many places in Austin, parking can be a bit of a headache. I ended up finding street parking down the road. I visited during Sunday brunch, a peak time for Paperboy. Thankfully, I was dining solo and was able to grab a seat at the bar. Be prepared for parking challenges and potential wait for seating during peak hours. The menu isn't overly extensive. I came in with my order already planned thanks to recommendations from fellow Yelpers and a few Instagram influencers. I ordered the Cinnamon Toast, which was delicious. It's stuffed with mascarpone that was light, fluffy, and not overly sweet. The only thing I'd change next time is asking for a lighter amount of mascarpone, as there was a bit more than I personally prefer. I also had the chicken, which was crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned. The honey drizzle added a nice touch of sweetness to balance the savory flavors. I requested the gravy on the side since I'm generally not a fan of gravy on my chicken. The gravy was fine, but it wasn't the standout component of the dish for me. One thoughtful touch I appreciated was that the restaurant had misters set up for guests waiting outside. It definitely helped make the Texas heat more bearable and showed consideration for their customers. Overall, this is a decent brunch spot with quality food, a vibrant atmosphere, and thoughtful hospitality.
I don't know what to say about this. The place is super cute, parking is whack. The menu is a bit simple but complex at the same time. First time bring here and the waiter recommended these items. I feel like I ordered the wrong items, or maybe a Texas Hash is not my type of breakfast food. I didn't expect it to taste like curry and I don't want to eat curry spices for brunch. 4/5 The fried chicken with biscuit is okay, the chicken was great, well done great seasoning. The egg was cook to perfection, the biscuit was dry though, and the gravy was a bit weird. It was more like a dressing than gravy. 3/5 Texas hash was sweet potatoes and pulled pork in what I can guess is like a curry sauce with lime, cilantros. I wouldn't order this again, we ate like 1/2 of it and didn't even togo home. I was expecting more like... breakfast sweet potatoes with a side of pulled pork, didn't expect that it was all mixed in and mashed together. 5/5 free rice Krispies, this was amazing. Probably the best home made rice Krispies I had in my life. Overall I need to comeback to try something else. Also the water here was good, didn't taste like Austin city water.
The food was definitely the highlight. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, the biscuit was buttery, and the spicy honey added a nice kick. The cheddar hash brown had a great crispy exterior with a creamy center, and the empanada was flaky with a well-seasoned filling. The cortado was also well-made and a nice way to finish the meal. Unfortunately, the overall experience was brought down by the seating. When we were seated outside, we were told it was our "lucky day" because the patio had fans. In reality, it was extremely hot and uncomfortable despite the fans, and there were pigeons constantly flying around the tables, which wasn't the relaxing brunch atmosphere we were hoping for. Service was fine...nothing exceptional, but no major issues either. I'd come back for the food, but I'd definitely wait for an indoor table next time. The kitchen delivered, but the outdoor dining experience made it difficult to fully enjoy the meal.
It's been two days and I'm still thinking of my meal here because it was that good. This place is popular so I highly recommend making reservations or risk waiting two hours. I love that you can sit upstairs and they play really fun music. It's a perfect place to come with friends. I loved the Lox plate, it's something that I will crave again and order the next opportunity I get. The migas with carnitas is so good too and vey filling. 10/10
I am crazy about their brunch Brown butter pancake - I would be skeptical about places claiming they brown the butter and I can barely taste it. I am happy I did not have the issue here. Plus the pancake texture was great - crispy, fluffy and full of volume Orange blossom cortado was wild - I'm not a coffee person but this was done right. They use their in house orange syrup (probably orange peel and sugar like oleo saccharum). I got one to go too Chai was okay - they could balance out the earthy and spicy tones better The chilaquiles were absolutely delicious too - crispy enough to crunch in my mouth and yet soft enough from the salsa rojas (didn't get protein here). The poblano cheddar biscuits was the right amount of dry with flavor dust and moist on the inside. Don't even get me started on the homemade butter and jalapeno jam - I ate that up like there is no tomorrow Would get this and pancakes and orange cortada and poblano cheddar biscuits again. 10/10 coming back. Staff was friendly and vibes on the balcony was dope.
This is a cute spot in Austin with indoor seating as well as a cute upstairs patio that is quaint. The staff is friendly and the food was good. Among our table we ordered the kale salad, classic breakfast, blueberry pancakes and the biscuit basket. My favorite was the biscuits with the jam which was really yummy. I will definitely return!
Paperboy is a classic brunch spot. Make sure to get there early, like as soon as they open! It is a very popular brunch spot, but for good reason. Their sweet potato hash is my absolute favorite.
This place has been on my list for a while! Drip coffee and fresh Oj were a great pick me up to start. The blueberry lemon pop tart was sweet and tasty. I loved the Migas - you MUST add carnitas - absolutely the best thing we had. The BEC was pretty average in my opinion but the cheddar hashbrown was insanely crispy and delicious.
Such a cute place for brunch. I been wanting to try this place since the last time I was in Austin. I'm glad I got to try it this time. This place does get busy due to how popular the place is. They don't take reservations, so you have to there to put yourself on the waitlist. While you wait you can order a drink. We didn't since there were other coffee shops I wanted to try. Since everything looked so good on the menu, we asked our waitress what's the most popular. He recommended the chicken & biscuits, cinnamon toast, & the b.e.c sandwich. I ended up getting the b.e.c. sandwich & it was yummy. The sesame challah bun was soft & toasty. The bacon was smoky & crispy. The bacon, pimiento cheese, jalapeño jam, sunny egg, & arugula in the sandwich was the perfect combination for a breakfast sandwich. The potato wedges that it was served with were crispy, well seasoned, & not salty as all. My boyfriend ordered the chicken & biscuit & it was yummy as well. The chicken was crispy & juicy. Paired with the hot honey made it better. The biscuit was fluffy, but I wished it was more buttery. Overall, everything was so good. I'm definitely gonna try the cinnamon toast & other foods the next time I'm in Austin.
The food was SO good here. Thankfully we made a reservation in advance because it was busy and an over 2 hour wait but I can definitely see why there's a wait. I got the paperboy pancake and it is huge and super tasty. I added chocolate chips and it was super tasty. I also added the seasoned potato wedges and those were so flavorful and the aioli it had with it was amazing. I definitely want to come back next time I'm in Austin.
Incredible breakfast. The lox plate was a textural dream. And so flavorful. My earl grey cold brew was well balanced and refreshing. Oh and the pancake, it's a must try. The staff were lovely and the vibe was bright and inviting. Highly recommend Paper Boy!
Thank you to Hannah who made our last stop in Austin one to remember. From the recommendations to the hospitality, our brunch was one to remember because of Hannah. I had the classic breakfast but subbed the wedges either the cheddar hash browns and the toast with a regular pancake. Not going to lie when Hannah was describing the pancake, I was a bit skeptical but decided to try it and don't regret it at all! Let this be your sign to come here. Next time I'm in Austin, I'm coming back.

What's the best brunch spot in Austin? Some say that spot might be Paperboy. It must be up to me to come to that conclusion. My beautiful girlfriend, traveling home from Vancouver, had a morning layover in Austin just recently on a weekday, and I got us a reservation to Paperboy East. Compared to the weekends, their schedule was a lot more open. On the weekends it can be nearly impossible to get a spot unless it's a few weeks in advance. We had a reservation at 8 am right when they opened, and when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The place looks like a modern twist on the old-school diners your grandparents love. There's also an upstairs and downstairs patio. Plenty of space! We were sat at one of the two-person tables. To start, I ordered their house drip coffee while my girlfriend got their "Lil Remi," an iced cappuccino with salted caramel. The black coffee was excellent and flavorful, while my girlfriend thought her Lil Remi was like a milkier shaken espresso that she really liked. From their starters, we ordered their Blueberry Lemon Pop Tart to share. I am a sucker for a homemade Pop Tart, and the jam on the inside was extremely fresh, and the icing and crust of the Pop Tart itself was sturdy and full of flavor. For our entrees, I ordered their Texas Hash with added avocado while my girlfriend ordered their famous Paperboy Pancake with chocolate chips as a full breakfast with bacon and two over-hard eggs. It wasn't a long wait at all to get our food. The Texas hash looked great and was presented quite nicely, which is a shame because I immediately proceeded to mash it all together to make sure every bite had a perfect balance of the roasted pork, sweet potatoes, egg, and avocado. It was very filling and substantial, which is great because I needed it to last me up to dinner. The pancake is the star of the show and is worth the order alone. The flying saucer they serve rises like a cake in the oven and is extremely fluffy. She was surprised with how it was a traditional pancake but loved how moist it was for its size. A perfect pancake to her. A perfect pancake to me because she couldn't finish it, so I took it to go and ate the last few bites immediately after dropping her off at the airport. For being an upscale diner in the prime area of Austin, I knew Paperboy was going to be pricey, but I honestly thought that it would crack $100 before tip between the two of us. I was very happy to see it was not even close to that and cost us about $80 with tip. To me, that felt fair for Austin, and I would pay that price any day of the week for a breakfast like we had. I've had a few of the locally owned brunch and breakfast spots in Austin and concur with the masses that this sits strongly at the top of the list. Best pancakes, best atmosphere, and the best times. If you're looking for a breakfast that feels a bit more elevated than your standard diner, this is the spot. Their menu features some truly elegant and unique options. I tried the Migas, and the texture was spot on--the mix of eggs, fresh corn tortillas, pico de gallo, and cheese was delicious. It stays packed here..Even on a Friday, it was buzzing. Expect a wait, though I managed to snag a spot at the bar pretty quickly. There is a small lot upfront, but don't panic if it's full--there is additional parking in the back alley. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive despite how busy they are. The coffee was just "okay," but the fresh food and great service make it well worth the price and the visit. read more
I see all the hype and it is deserved. I did stay in the hamburger lane and was very pleased. As advertised Paperboy is a breakfast - lunch spot and they seem to do everything well. As expected parking is challenging but there is a lot to the east and we got lucky. Hope to make it back for breakfast. read more
Came here without a reservation because we heard so many good things about it during our trip. When we arrived and put our name down, there were two hosts at the front. one told us it would be an hour and 40 minutes, and another immediately said 2 hrs. Since it was a popular spot, we said yes and decided to wait. An hour and 20 gone by, and we were 2nd in line. We checked in to see how much longer it would be since the line seemed to be moving faster than expected. Even the people who arrived after us were seated already. They told us 40 more minutes, which honestly made no sense. Next thing you know, we were called 5 minutes after walking out. We were seated outdoors in a corner directly IN THE SUN while everyone else was in the shade. There were open tables in the shade, but yet we were still seated there. At that point, it started to feel intentional. No one checked on us, and we had to flag staff down just to order. By then, we just wanted to eat and leave. We ordered the chicken and biscuit and pancake. The chicken was juicy and the biscuit was a little dry. Pancake was super doughy. Overall, would I come back? Probably not, especially considering the staff's behavior and long wait. read more
Pretty solid brunch spot in East Austin. I was pleasantly surprised by their amazing pastries. Apparently they make them all in house. I really enjoyed the Cinnamon Toast which featured whipped mascarpone, walnut streusel on a house-made flax seed loaf. I also enjoyed the Earl Grey Cold Brew cold brew with oat milk. Nice version of a cold brew with earl grey honey syrup. I could have had two! I was a little underwhelmed by the Paperboy Pancake. It's a buttermilk cornmeal pancake, served with warm maple syrup, brown butter, and sea salt. It was a little too firm and not fluffy. I guess it was overdone. read more

I already can't wait to go back! We went for brunch and it was SO tasty. We went without a reservation and it was super busy but they said it would be 40 minutes and we probably only waited 20 minutes. We just walked around because the area is super cute with vintage shops and other restaurants. There are indoor and outdoor seating options. We chose to sit indoors which had an open kitchen concept which I always enjoy. My rating of my meals are below. Chicken and waffles - 10/10, the crispy skin and moist chicken with a spicy honey was insanely good. I was sharing with my husband but I didn't really want to give him any after tasting it ha. The gravy and the spicy honey flavors all work so well together. B.e.c. - 10/10, a fun play on your standard bacon egg and cheese sandwich but using smoked bacon, pimiento cheese, and egg. I really liked the jalapeño jam on this if have the perfect level of heat. The arugula was also a nice add to it and the crispy potatoes on the side were perfectly cooked. At the end of the meal, they give a homemade Rice Krispie treat which was a nice finishing touch! A great experience and definitely recommend to bring friends here who are visiting for a superior brunch option in Austin. read more

An amazing brunch! Was recommended to try Paperboy and I'm glad I did. If you come here, I suggest getting their Cinnamon Toast over their signature pancake. The toast had a great balance of crunch along with the whipped mascarpone which was perfect. I do think it's a bit sweet but there's more of a flavor profile compared to the pancake. Their chicken and biscuit was the star! Savory, sweet, the spicy honey...yeah! Overall, 9/10. read more
Paperboy is such a nice brunch restaurant!! My sister and I were in town and after reading the reviews, we decided to head there early. Even arriving at 10:30am, there was a wait of 45min-1 hour (based on my text messages, we actually waited exactly 45 min - 10:33-11:18) and by the time we left, people were being quoted 1.5 hours. Definitely arrive early! I do love that you're able to buy drinks outside, but my sister and I opted to go to Take Heart a block down, which is a nicely curated shop with home goods, kitchenware, and artsy items. I want to give a special shout out to Brittany C, our server, who was very friendly and gave us really good recommendations for menu items. She also learned that we were coming from out of town and this was our first time here and got us a complimentary cinnamon toast! She told us that this was their oldest menu item and they are known for it and honestly??? That was the best thing I had all day. That cinnamon toast was delicious! I'm all about textures and I loved the crunch of the toppings. You have to order this because it's so worth it. We ordered: Earl grey cold brew: loved it - great tea and coffee flavors that blended nicely. Texas Hash & Classic Breakfast: these portions are huge!! You really can't go wrong with either item - the flavors packed a punch. My memory is a little hazier a month later (the cinnamon toast stood out more to me) but I remember we both liked our dishes. I'm not sure that I would add the avocado again though. Whenever I visit Austin I would definitely come again. Fantastic food and fantastic service! read more
TL;DR: I would come back here to impress someone, but it is quite pricy. Food: I came here with a friend, and we split all of our dishes family style. We ordered the Paperboy Pancakes ($12), Texas Hash ($17), Steak & Eggs ($28), and each got the Harvest Spice Latte ($7). + I would recommend the Texas Hash to any of my friends coming here! The roasted pork is delicious and falls apart easily. It goes really well with the sweet potato, making this a filling meal while not feeling too heavy. The mole adds a little bit of sweetness and earthiness which I enjoyed too. + The pancake really was quite good as it is fluffy and has that 'melt in your mouth' feel to it. I wish for $12 it came with a second pancake, but it was still tasty. - I think the seasoning of the steak was good, but it tasted more cooked than medium rare. For almost $30, I would have liked more or thicker pieces of meat. The fries are really nice and crispy though. Service: I appreciated that our server was friendly and attentive, even providing an extra plate because she realized that we wanted to split all of our dishes. Even though this is a very high demand spot, I felt like we got proper treatment and were not rushed! Ambiance: This place is aesthetic both indoors and outdoors with lots of natural light. I always love taking photos of Paperboy's exterior for Instagram. Because it had been lightly raining, my friend and I reserved an indoor table, but next time I would like to try sitting outdoors since there is nice coverage and greenery. read more
Amazing food, horrendous waitlist system. You have to go there to put your name down, and they were unable to accommodate our table of 6 so we had to split 3 and 3, but our second party of 3 wasn't seated until an hour after our first party. Service was slow but I hate to admit, the food was so delicious. The blueberry pancake was probably the best I've had. Easily one of Austin's favorite brunch spots - and it's clear why. Paperboy absolutely nails the brunch staples and is open every day of the week. They have both indoor and outdoor seating - along with bar seating. Among my favorites are their chicken & biscuit, their texas hash, and the tasso ham & gruyère empanada. They also have a full bar with an excellent cocktail menu. The OG East location is staffed with an incredible team who are friendly, well informed, and attentive. So happy I finally got to try this place after hearing so much about it! I'm not much of a brunch person, but I appreciated that they have lighter options that don't just make me want to nap for the rest of the day. The Earl Grey latte is really good. The pancake was fluffy and the brown butter is divine. The lox toast was also nice. But overall, the meal didn't blow my mind. When we got there on a Sunday at 11 they were pretty packed. The wait was around 30 minutes and they have a waiting area outside which was pet friendly. Once we were seated we were served water, and the waitress told us the popular dishes. I tried the matcha latte and added vanilla ($1 up charge) and it was very good. I ended up getting the Classic Breakfast, and the paperboy pancake. Which were all very tasty. The vibes were very nice, very aesthetic and chill. Very cute to get a quick breakfast in Austin. At the end of the visit they give you free homemade rice crispy treats. read more

We came to Paperboy for brunch around 10am and waited about an hour, which seems pretty common. The wait was worth it. The space has a great vibe with indoor, outdoor, and rooftop seating, though the waiting area and parking are both limited. I had the chicken and biscuit with gravy and it was amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the Migas and loved it. Everything tasted like it was made with really fresh, high quality ingredients. I had a mimosa and he got a cocktail, and both drinks hit the spot. Overall, Paperboy lives up to the hype. If you do not mind a wait and can manage the parking, it is absolutely worth checking out. Paperboy has 2 locations, and this one is their location along E 11th. In terms of parking, there's a small lot right across that fills up really quickly. There's a decent amount of street parking nearby too. Highly highly recommend making an online reservation for the best use of your time! This was my second time visiting Paperboy, and the business has grown a ton in terms of popularity. The first time, I got the Texas Hash and wasn't super impressed (3/5 for flavor and price). This time, decided to check out some of Paperboy's sweet breakfast/brunch options. We were seated at the shaded patio area upstairs, which made for a really nice, relaxing vibe. Our server was also very attentive. Paperboy Pancake ($12, 4/5) - More than enough to fill you up! It has a dense, cornbread consistency, which I personally liked. If you're someone who likes pancakes that are fluffy, though, would recommend trying other things on the menu. - Comes with brown butter and a bit of sea salt on top, with the usual side of maple syrup - Option to add blueberries or chocolate chips for $3 Earl Grey Cold Brew ($5.5, 4.5/5) - Made with oat milk + earl grey honey syrup - Really liked the earl grey flavor, and it was a nice complement to the Paperboy Pancake Also got to sample some of the cinnamon toast and strawberry & pecan pop tart, which were both tasty! Overall I still think that Paperboy is a tad pricey depending on what you order, but I would be happy to come back for the sweet options on the menu. Fabulous brunch spot in Austin. And I think this was the best pancake I've ever eaten in my life!! So fluffy and perfect with crispy edges and blueberries, and the salted butter on top brought it to the next level. The space is small but well-designed and staff are friendly. This is such a nice place to go for brunch! I had the best bacon I think I've ever had out! It was so crispy and delicious! The pancake was so thick but had a lovely crust. It was so decadent and delicious! The matcha was perfect and the staff was so friendly! Couldn't recommend more! read more
