Finally made our way down to the new paperboy location on South Lamar. We had a reservation and they seated us promptly at our reservation time. I was grateful that the patio had protection from the sun. Service was pretty quick considering how busy they are and the food is consistently good. Parking on South Lamar is made easier with their underground parking garage. The pancake is huge and could easily be split. The bloody Mary was surprisingly strong.
So that was D-freaking-licious. What a great place to brunch! This was my first time at Paperboy South, and now it has burned itself into my brain for future visits to Austin. Great vibe, interesting menu, friendly but unobtrusive service... digging it. We started with some ricotta toast, a first for me, but man whenever I find this again... it will be ordered. Wow, what a great flavor with the fluffy ricotta, tangy fruit and glaze. This was a revelation for me. Honestly, right now cannot remember the name of my specific dish, but honestly it was like a brunchy carnitas platter, and I was here for it. Nothing like BYO tacos with a brunch spin. I just remember loving it. Great visit, thanks Paperboy South!
Finally got to try this place. I've tried the east side location and man, it's hard to get in. Came with another friends and we sat on the outside patio. Really enjoy that the patio is fully covered, yes if it were to be a windy, rainy day may not work out but for the most part this was great. They have a take out window for orders as well. Inside looked quaint with bright lighting. I got the pancakes cause it was recommended and they weren't too shabby. Would I say they are the best? No, tasty, yes. Friends got other dishes, of course I don't remember what they were but they did enjoy. Make a reservation and try them out. Parking was also convenient and they validate.
Truly outstanding breakfast venue. First time at this restaurant. Was worth the 20 minute drive and paying to park, although they give you a discount when you check out. On parking. Sat inside. Has a very modern, clean, well laid out, upscale diner feel, with comfortable booth seating (and an outdoor area too that was spacious, but not appealing to me on a reasonably warm, somewhat humid day). Let me get right to it. Everything I ate was A++. The five of us shared a pancake, which was extremely fluffy and tasty, with melted butter. I did not have the French toast, which looked inviting, but a sugar overload. I also did not try the homemade pop tart that everyone said was very good. My latte with whole milk, served hot, was delicious. I went simple -- had two eggs, with bacon, potatoes, and toast. This was a memorable breakfast with ordinary ingredients that was prepared in an exceptional manner and perfectly seasoned. There's not much more that I can say, other than when you can make the ordinary taste special you're doing something extremely right! Our primary server, see photo, was delightful and efficient. Fellow that brought the food was also friendly. Presentation was excellent, even though fairly simple. Prices were extremely fair for the quality of the food in my opinion. I completely understand why you need reservations. Truly outstanding breakfast!
I was in Austin for the day and found this recommendation from TikTok! They close at 2PM and they were able to get me in right before they closed so I'm forever grateful lol I wanted to try some pastries but they let me know that they are made fresh, in-house everyday and they go fast! So they were sold out. I ended up ordering the Texas hash and the cinnamon rose which was like a French toast with the most immaculate choice of toppings on it. I'm a sweet and savory girl and they both were phenomenal. The hash was made with a mole sauce that gave it this Mexican taste to or which I absolutely loved. The cinnamon toast also had a really good mascarpone and this caramelized crunch that I enjoyed a lot. You also got a really good bang for your buck so I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Austin!

I've been here countless times, so I can't believe I haven't written them a review yet. I'm SO happy they opened up a south location as this is perfect and hence my frequent visits :) First things first, they validate first hour of your parking in the garage, so don't forget to scan the QR code by the check-in desk. Secondly, come early bc they run out of their fresh made pastries so often!! Food wise: here are all the dishes I've had before. Shareables: poblano and cheddar biscuits - perfect for a group. Jalapeño jam is delicious! Chorizo empanada to die for but they always run out so come early! Cinnamon toast - this is too sweet for me but everyone loves this and good to share if you just want a small bite Entree: Chicken and biscuit - delicious and big portion Texas hash - delicious and different Steak & Eggs - always a great option. I love it here. Great service. Great food. Great ambiance.

This location PB is much bigger, they validate parking for an hour, that's good, got seated promptly. Patio is simple yet nice and comfortable, our server was nice, welcoming and friendly but not attentive. Food is good, as usual, place was pretty busy, so reservations are must.
Long time fan of Paperboy but this was my first time at this location. As always, food was delicious and service was fast, attentive and friendly. The Texas hash is a must. Roasted pulled pork is quite filling but the kale and sweet potato makes it feel like it's still somewhat healthy! My husband ordered his go-to: the classic breakfast with two eggs, seasoned potato wedges and maple sausage. I took a small bite of the sausage and side of preserves and it's so good! If you're planning on getting weekend breakfast or brunch, make a reservation ahead of time as wait times can be long.

The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating spaces, both of which are cozy and comfortable. I started with a hot vanilla latte, which was delicious. For food, my girlfriend and I ordered: 1. chorizo and potato empanada to share - this was pretty oily. I've had better empanadas. This was a miss for me. 2. Paperboy pancake wjth blueberries, and a side of eggs + bacon. The bacon was crispy just the way I like it. Eggs were cooked to order and the pancake was decadent, massive, and delicious. This meal fed two of us easily. They brought some rice krispy treats out for dessert along with the check, which was a nice sweet bite to round out a good meal. Worth a visit.
Second time visiting paperboy but first at their south location. Unfortunately, this visit left us wanting a bit more. We ordered a round of frozen hibiscus margaritas which are delicious and STRONG. Perfect especially if you're sitting outdoors. I got the chilaquiles and while they were delicious, the portion size was definitely lacking...was sadly still hungry after my meal. Service was fine but was better at the east location.
I've been hearing about the breakfast at Paperboy for a while and finally made my way there. First, I really like the ambiance and atmosphere. The outdoor patio is nice to sit and enjoy your meal. Even when it's hot outside as the patio is covered. Second, the service is fantastic and the staff is friendly. Lastly, the food is delicious. I tried the pancakes as that's what this place is known for. Definitely fluffy and flavorful. I was hoping to try some of their starters, but they were all sold out by the time I arrived. So, I recommend to book an early time for breakfast/brunch. Overall, a great experience and I would return again. I'm interested in seeing the vibes at their other location next time.
Pretty darn good! My breakfast sandwich was delicious and the hash brown was good.. but I feel like it was better on my last visit- I could tell what was off a little???? The gluten free muffin was AMAZING! Service was great! And it's a cute little restaurant!

We love Paperboy and have been to both locations many times! It can be hard to get a reservation but you can usually get a walk in table if you arrive before 9:00 am in our experience. We started our wedding weekend with a breakfast at paperboy, have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries and it's always so special. Favorites: Lil Remi (used to be the Lil Billy I think?) - one of my favorite coffees ever. Their pastries - we usually try one or two each time and love all, especially the poptart. I wish they would bring back the guava croissant one! The empanada is also so good. Maple sausage - you may think how good can sausage be, but it's amazing. Chocolate chip pancake - their pancake is huge, fluffy, but crisp on the outside. It's delicious, but so filling. My husband loves their BEC, the chicken biscuit, and he used to love the chopped cheese. read more

First time experiencing paperboy and the food and service was awesome! I loved the BEC, poblano biscuits and the hasbrown. The orange juice was also super good. Absolutely recommend reservation, the wait time was said to be 40 mins, ended up being closer to 1.5 hours. Also recommend going early or things sell out! Can't wait to go back! read more
Solid food and service. We were out on the patio in the late morning and the heaters did their work, very comfortable. It took about 25 minutes for us to get our food but once we addressed it their team was on top of it. We started with the cheddar jalapeño biscuits and they weren't as bold in their flavor as I would have preferred, but we enjoyed them. Chicken and biscuits were on point and the gravy is very good. The highlight for me was the cheese grits, as good as I've had...Really dug the grits! My wife had the pancakes and bacon. She thought the pancakes leaned a little too much towards cornbread (she's a pancake traditionalist). The bacon was fine, nothing to write home about. To be honest, I always use Phoebe's bacon as the standard, which may not be fair, but once you know what a fantastic piece of bacon tastes like you never forget it. We enjoyed Paperboy, it's probably a bit overhyped which is not their fault but it's definitely a solid choice for breakfast in ATX. read more

The service was great, the server was attentive and friendly. They have a lot of booths and were accommodating when I asked to sit near the window. Seems quiet and family friendly. I ordered the ricotta toast, which I thought would be similar to another restaurant's, but I didn't enjoy it. I took maybe one bite then just ate the fruit off of it. When the server came to collect our plates, we asked for feedback for the chef, which I've never had happen before. I liked that. My friend had the "pop tart" which was made with puff pastry. It didn't look like the picture but she said it was tasty. She also had the pancake and potato wedges which was good. It was okay overall, but we expected a bit more from all the reviews. read more

Yummy brunch food!! Our server was really nice as well. We ordered 4 dishes and it filled up 5 people! My favorite dish was the lox and I loved the citrus on it. Inside was very spacious and they had an outside seating area. Our server was really nice and welcomed us into Austin, since we were coming from out of town! There's a parking garage in the back and they validate your parking as well. I would say this is a good brunch spots for friends and family! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for years and finally had the chance to dine there the other day. While the service was absolutely incredible, I didn't find the food itself to be anything special. I ordered the Texas Hash. The pork and sweet potatoes were good, but nothing unique about them. My parents had ordered the Chicken & Biscuit and the Kale Salad. The Chicken & Biscuit was definitely the best order. The chicken was perfectly crisp and well-seasoned. I highly recommend. As for the Kale Salad, both my mom and I found it to be too salty. I did enjoy the coffee here. Their earl gray syrup was the perfect addition to my cortado! Back to the service, I thought the people here were so incredibly friendly. We brought our dog, and they provided her with a water bowl--so thoughtful! The ambiance was nice as well. We sat outside, and they had heaters on throughout the patio, which we appreciated. read more

I loved the atmosphere, food, and service! We had nice mild weather so we enjoyed the outside seating. The food takes awhile to come out but it's worth it! I'll tell you which ones I thought were worth it. Definitely the BEC sandwich was full of flavor and different textures. I really liked the cheesy hash brown. I would probably pass on the maple sausage next time. It was a bit too salty for my taste and the flavors weren't melding for me. But my son wouldn't eat the cheesy grits without the sausage lol. My little picky eater. No complaints from me about the cheesy grits. I tried my husbands steak and eggs. It comes with a chimichurri sauce. If that's your style. I liked the arugula salad. I enjoyed my sandwich more though. Overall great place to try some higher end breakfast food. The parking was in a garage and luckily there were signs pointing us to the right direction. We came early so we didn't wait at all to be seated. However, it seems like a popular place and would get crowded. read more
Love the retro diner vibe to it! and so pumped to have a place like this in South Austin now. Vital Farms eggs really are amazing and make such a difference. Dishes we had were pancake, eggs, smashburgers. All fantastic! I will def come back and it seems like such a great place to bring ppl visiting to. read more
Once you eat here, you will completely understand the hype. We made a reservation in advance for brunch on a Sunday (reservations are a must). The restaurant itself has retro, fun vibes. Service is so kind and attentive. For starters, the coffee is outstanding. I could easily see going here for just the coffee, but then you would be missing out on the food - and after having their brunch would not consider it. We ordered the Chicken and Biscuit, which was most certainly the standout. I'm not sure a description captures how delicious it is. We also ordered the Steak and Eggs, which was beautifully presented. The other hit was the gluten-free Cinnamon Apple Coffee Cake, which even my non-gf companions loved. Will most certainly be back for brunch in the future! read more

I could almost never get a table at their East Side location, but this South location is so much easier. I even got a last-minute reservation (it was for a Monday morning though). I ordered the fried chicken and biscuit, and it was excellent: perfectly crispy, juicy, with just the right balance of sweetness and spice. The biscuit was spot on as well. Service was attentive and friendly, and they even offer free 1-hour parking validation. read more

First visit to Paperboy South, which is located on S. Lamar in Bouldin Creek. I was lured in by their 4.8/5.0 Yelp Rating. Let me just say, the Yelp ratings are justified. Paperboy has a very cool vide - indoor & outdoor seating, modern and hip music being piped through the restaurant with an eclectic clientele. Customers ranged from fitness folks like myself to women carrying Chanel & YSL bags. I really wanted to try to the sweets (blueberry lemon roll, strawberry & pecan pop tart, gruyère empanada or carrot cake). Unfortunately, I just got diagnosed with high cholesterol, so sweets are not my friend. Instead I had egg whites and cheesy grits. Ok the cheese was not good, for the most part the other items were pretty healthy. The egg whites were seasoned well and fluffy. The grits had a thin layer of cheese, however, the grits were real star of the show. They were not your average yellow grits. The grits were off-white and more grainy. It reminded me a bit of ancient grains. I can say these grits were likely best grits I have every eaten. Logistics: My order was taken at the outside "to go" window and I waited outside for the order to be fulfilled. It was about a 20 minute wait, which I did not consider unusual for a holiday weekend. Paperboy uses a nearby garage that charges $4.99 for the first hour. However, Paperboy validates your parking for the first hour...so eat fast. smile. The food was good and fresh as always, no complaints there. We went on a Friday around noon without a reservation and had to wait a little over 30 minutes. They only validate parking for one hour, which is something to keep in mind. While waiting, we stayed outside where they have heaters and will also provide blankets if you ask, which was nice. I ordered a vanilla latte and the classic breakfast with a side of bacon, and everything tasted great. My friend got the steak frites and orange juice. She expected the juice to be freshly squeezed, but it tasted more like a juice mix. The staff were friendly, and I liked the small touch of getting a rice crispy treat when you're about to pay. Overall, still a solid spot, just plan ahead for the wait and parking. read more
So glad we stopped here to fuel up before ACL fest. Couldn't tell if it was busy due to the festival weekend or if it's just a popular local spot but we enjoyed our meal nonetheless. The space inside is really cute but we opted to dine on the patio as it was first available. *Sweet potato brisket hash: Wholesome and comforting! I enjoyed the perfectly jammy poached egg. We asked for a side of their house made red hot sauce and it paired well. *Fried Chicken & Biscuit: so good! The sage gravy was the star of the show and I enjoyed the hot honey drizzle to keep things juicy. The biscuit was perfectly fluffy while the chicken had a great crunch without being dry. *Dessert: we were served complimentary Rice Krispies! I won't argue with that. Price point was reasonable for the quality of food. The drinks looked good too but we grabbed coffee at a shop nearby. It did take a while for our food to come out but our server was friendly and it was a busy morning. I'll be back next time I'm in Austin. read more

Worth every single penny We loved it - amazing breakfast / brunch spot We tried the fried chicken and biscuit - all delicious - biscuit, chicken, gravy - perfect combination We also tried the pancake full breakfast - loved the pancake - definitely a different fluffy cornbread like but absolutely delicious! Also added blueberries to the pancake which was so good!! We tried the cheddar hashbrown and highly recommend that too!! I tried the hibiscus matcha lemonade and it was so refreshing Service was great - food came out quickly and patio is super cute! We bought our dog with us on the patio! read more
Paperboy East is incredible so I had high expectations for Paperboy South. It can be challenging to get a reservation, but it is 100% worth it! Their food is incredible (with special mention to my favorite pancake in all of Austin), and the hip, friendly atmosphere makes it a great place to start your day. This is on my list for when friends come to visit! read more
Food: the food was absolutely delicious! My grits bowl had so much flavor, and his burger was super delicious as well! The pancake was huge and had the texture of a cake! Service: everyone was super sweet, and our server was very attentive and make sure we had everything we needed! Ambiance: we both LOVED the vibes, we chose to sit inside only because we don't like eating when it's hot outside, but both inside and outside were beautiful. A perfect date spot or a quick brunch location! Extras: considering everything we ordered (food&drink) our total was $65 and to me in Austin I feel that's not awful. Arrived with no reservation for Sunday brunch and was told an hour wait (not really that long). We went across the street and enjoyed drinks at Postino for the time. We continued with libations I had a delicious Bloody Mary and my gf had an Espresso Martini. For starters we shared the Avocado Tostada. We opted for toast instead of the tortilla. The avocado spread arrived on top of toasted ciabatta. Delightful. I ordered the Texas Hash and she had the Kale salad. The hash was not how I envisioned it. Chunks of tender pork with sweet potatoes and a poached egg. Incredible but it had a little too much onions for my taste. The hale salad was great and just as good the next day (leftover). Came here for a bachelorette breakfast brunch and got to try soooo many different foods. Everything was delicious and the service was quick! The workers were attentive and very friendly. The place is a perfect spot for brunch/lunch with your friends! Definitely come try it! read more

It was a bit busy as it was a Saturday morning for brunch. The staff were very friendly and explained the menu in detail to us. We both had the classic breakfast two eggs, maple sausage , buttered toast , and wedges . The eggs were cooked perfectly and were already seasoned to perfection. The sausage was very good but lacked the maple taste I was hoping for but still great., now this toast (OMG) . I never rave about toast as it's usually an after thought. But this bread with the butter and preserves were excellent and not too Thick, the potato wedges were seasoned and crispy outside with soft inside. I was so happy to hear that Paperboy opened up a 2nd location on South Lamar! Hopefully this will help manage overall demand decrease wait times across both the locations now. That being said, we arrived at 2PM for Sunday brunch today in order to avoid the brunch rush hour but there was still a 20 minute wait haha. It was my friend's first time so we ended up sharing everything so that we could try multiple dishes together. The Chicken & Biscuit is a MUST if you love a sweet, savory combination and I appreciated that the gravy wasn't too heavy or thick to complement the dish. We also ordered the Texas Hash because it sounded like a healthier option and ended up pairing well with the fried chicken. To end our meal on a sweet note, we tried the Paperboy Pancake, and if you love corn bread, you'll absolutely love this dish! Unlike the standard pancake consistency, the outside edges of this pancake was crispy, the inside was fluffy like corn bread, and the brown butter wasn't too heavy or overpowering. Even if the wait times might be longer than usual, it's always worth the wait every time!
