I only visited once for pastries, but can't wait to go back! I was at an appointment nearby and popped in to see if they had any pastries left. The inside is beautiful and they have a parking garage right next door. The manager came over and asked if I wanted her to take a photo of me with the silly Tom Segura statue. The whole place is just fun and silly, but with great Italian specialties. The pastry case was still stocked and I asked if they had anything with pistachio. They had a pistachio bomboloni just calling my name! WOW. This was the best donut I've had in Austin. Obsessed. The filling was everything I hoped for. I also got a sfogliatelle and tbh it was pretty hard on the outside. Like hard to chew, hard. Once you got inside the creamy filling was spot on. I was later in the day, so they may have been sitting there. Dipped in coffee the next morning - it was still delicious. I will be back for lunch and more pastries soon! I also love Tom Segura, so was cool to see his new spot!

We stopped by this newly opened spot across from Alamo Drafthouse this past Sunday. Overall, a really nice first visit - just get there early if you're hoping to try their pastries. We arrived around 9:45 AM, and by then all the pastries were already gone. Seems like they sell out pretty quickly, so I'd recommend getting there before 9 on weekends. The space itself is modern, with a simple, well-designed interior and some outdoor seating. There's also a retail parking garage nearby, which makes it pretty convenient. The cappuccino was great, more of an Italian style, strong and smooth without being overly milky. I also ordered a sandwich, and the focaccia bread was super soft and fresh, which really stood out. We'll definitely be back to try the pastries (earlier next time) and explore more of the menu.

Austin has a new bakery, coffee shop and Italian spot in the Lamar Union on South Lamar. Ciccio Bomba comes from the fantastic comedian Tom Segura, and chefs Gianba & Marlo Vinzoni. Located next door to Alamo Drafthouse, this new Italian spot is serving fresh bakery items, different coffees, wines, salads, sandwiches and even pizza. The layout is new open for casual seating inside or out on the patio. They have a fully stocked bar with many different drinks and wine parings available. Order a variety of coffee, bakery items, or order off the food menu of freshly made sandwiches, salads or pizzas. Chef Vinzoni has lived out in Southern California for decades and now after working in many high end SoCal restaurants, has open his new location in south Austin. They had previous popup locations in the Faregrounds on South Congress, but now have a permanent home in the Lamar Union. Free Parking is available in the next door garage. You can tell this is a restaurant concept that has taken years to get where it is now. There is a solid quality of true Italian baking and cooking shown in this new location. This is an excellent new edition for places to visit on South Lamar.

But it was more important to the Powder Room that the next group got their table on time, apparently. The drinks took soooo long, we got ONE round in, and were asked to leave the table before our second round arrived. They had no issues when taking our second round order while we were seated, but we were asked to leave the table immediately after. This round also took forever and we drank it standing, crowded, in everyone's way. I was embarrassed as it was my birthday, and I was taking a group of 7 other people - new to Austin - here to check out what was one of my favorite spots. I was bragging about it and chose it over other spots on their list. They hated it. I'm disappointed. Our server was great to us and apologetic about the service bar.

There are some tables, and big comfy couches around a coffee table in the middle of the bar which is where we sat. I had one of their happy hour cocktails that was similar to a creamy espresso martini, and they are 50% off on happy hour days/times! My friend got one of their floral cocktails which wasn't discounted but I LOVED it personally. I also got a strawberry matcha drink (non alcoholic) that was a little too sweet in my opinion; I finished it but wouldn't get it again. Overall though the cocktails and vibe in there are worth a visit alone! When it's not too hot, the area outside has little mini-chandeliers and is also very vibey.

It was served in a flaming skull, garnished with beautiful flowers and fresh fruit, and filled to the brim with God knows how much alcohol and juice, but it was a time! The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
