Love there cookies, I'm not a cookie person, but some places are exceptional, TB is at the top of the list. Fresh, thick, moist, gooey inside and crispy edges, not too sweat, just perfect cookies. We just come and get cookies to go, so can't say much about service. But if you haven't tried there cookies already, do yourself a favor and give them a try.
I went back for the banana Nutella and I must say it was the best cookie I have ever had. If you haven't stopped by please do. Also the sourdough bread is phenomenal!! Perfect crisp and softness within. Service is always impeccable and the ambiance comfort with a pinch of flour
The cookies here are distinct in their puck-size form, but the texture is incredibly soft yet still with some structural integrity that holds it together. PBJ COOKIE: Pretty decent. This cookie (as with all their cookies) has the thinnest golden brown, light crisp coat on the outside, giving way to this very soft interior. It errs more on the peanut butter side than the jelly. Would probably not crave it again, since I prefer much more jelly in the center. BLUEBERRY SCONE: Incredibly soft. It does not fall into the traps of a dry cafe scone, so you know that the butter was properly incorporated into this.
Located next to convenience store with a small parking spot that has only 4 spots shared with other business, this grab and go place has some really delicious bread and cookies. Their cookies are a little more on denser bigger side, kind of like Levain style cookies except with more filling in the middle if you get a stuffed Ollie and not quite the crispy bottom that Levain bakery cookies achieve. I got their classic chocolate chip cookie, which was good and for being such a big cookie filled with chocolate chips I am glad it wasn't overly sweet though you can definitely split one cookie with two people. I also got the Banana Nutella cookie which reminds me if banana bread decided it wanted to make a little sandwich with Nutella in the middle and then shaped in cookie form. It's more of a doughy cookie than chewy or crispy cookie. We also got the chocolate peanut butter cookie and you better love peanut butter because the peanut butter is strong, but delicious. We also got the wheat sourdough loaf and the crust on it is incredible and I loved that they do the fancy markings on top to like one the bread/steam to escape (I should know what it's called but I never got into my sourdough era). Even for being made with wheat four and having blend of seeds, I did not find it too overwhelming and found it delicious to make a grilled cheese and loved that even though it's healthy it didn't taste overly grainy or overly "healthy" if that makes sense. It had a really great crust and interior and some nice little bubbles. I also got the avocado, egg, and cheese burridough which I thought it was ok - I wish there was more filling, I found that the bread to filling ratio was more bread than filling, and wish the filling had more salt/flavor. I am glad it came with mild salsa to dip it in to give it that extra kick/salt it needed. Probably my least favorite out of everything I tried. Parking lot wise they have a very small lot shared with other businesses. Don't park at the convienient store next door. There is also street parking. There is no eating inside, but they do have a small bench outside (unshaded) if you want to enjoy the treats right then and there.
Service was in and out and they don't play with these pastries/cookies! Both are generous portions and could easily share between two people. The avocado/egg/cheese was very filling. However parking was very difficult. Visited on a Tuesday morning and had to circle around the block three times to find parking.
Unassuming building but great sourdough bread and solid cookie . If you buy the day old one, you get 1.50 off - Sign me up. You know if they only have like 10 things in the menu, it'll all be good.
So glad I found this place on my search for the best sourdough in Austin. If not number 1, this is certainly in the running! A very unassuming building tucked away in the neighborhoods south of Barton Springs, limited space inside and out, but what this place does they do exceptionally. They have 3 options for Sourdough daily: white, wheat/seeded, and rye. Each of these have their own strength, but my favorite has slowly become the wheat loaf! With 3-4 different seeds folded in for extra texture and heartiness, this loaf slices beautifully and satisfies fully. They also do sweet/savory pastries and baked goods as pictured! While generally not a full service establishment, the staff has always been kind and informative. Definitely stop here and try some killer bread. A new favorite and hidden gem!
some of the best cookies ive had in the city! super gooey in the middle with that crunchy exterior. kinda a drive for us so will be visiting sparingly, keeps it special that way
I've been on a chocolate chip cookie binge as of late and I came across *many* people who swore by thoroughbread. I hauled my ass early on a Saturday morning to ensure I could get my hands on one. And upon my first bite, lemme just say I was blown away. This is *the* chocolate chip cookie spot in all of Austin. Also the lady at the cash register was the sweetest (no pun intended) making small talk and running to open the door for me as my hands were full. You'll definitely see me around here more often!
So this is a very, very, very small bakery. You basically walk in and you're right there at the counter so it's definitely grab and go. That being said, I consider myself a cookie connoisseur and decided to give this place a try. I normally don't like the big style cookies because they taste too cake'y, like a very popular TickTock chain people over rate. This was a very large cookie that actually tasted like a cookie. I was surprised at how they were able to integrate both crispy and soft elements of a regular cookie just larger. I definitely enjoyed it and if I'm ever back in town I'll try some more. Also, NO SALT NEEDED! Not sure how that's become another overated trend too but trust me they're fine as is!

Thoroughbread bakery is tucked away in a residential area behind South Lamar. I saw a post on social media touting ThoroughBread cookies as the best cookies they have ever eaten. Wow, that was a bold claim! I finally got the opportunity to try ThoroughBread cookies and they were quite yummy. These cookies are like no other cookies I have eaten. I got the chocolate chip cookies with pecans. They had the texture of gingerbread cookies and were huge. They were gooey in the middle, perfectly crisp on the outside, and rich without being eye-squinting sweet. The chocolate chip cookies had welcoming textures and flavors. In addition, my server was kind and patient as I made my selection. You could taste the quality of ingredients, and each mouthful was progressively delicious. Definitely try Thoroughbread cookies for yourself. You're in for a treat. read more

This is small batch great quality baked goods. The smell alone of the baked bread is enticing. I specifically came here for the cookies and they are 1000% worth it. The banana Nutella cookie is well balanced and loaded with Nutella. I didn't realize they also had something called a burrdough. A bread burrito. This one that I had was brisket egg and cheese. The bread they use it is cheesy and high quality and the filling was delicious. The issue I always have is a parking issue. The parking is limited and in front of the store. read more

Such a cute little spot, so glad I finally got to stop by. White sourdough loaf was gorgeous, got it sliced and had to start eating it in the car. PB&J cookie felt like it was about 2lbs. De-lish read more
Likely the best sourdough loaf in Austin! Soft interior, high quality ingredients, and browned crust. If you love sourdough definitely try this place. The chocolate chip cookie is also as good as cookies get. Crispy exterior with rich, gooey interior. Not cheap, but you pay for what you get and here that's top quality baked goods. read more
This place is a treasure of you love a thick cookie! Found this place by searching on Yelp. The place is tiny with no inside seating. The menu is succinct. I saw the chocolate chip cookie and knew it was for me. They brought me a cookie fresh from the oven. The cookie was an amazing combination of slightly crispy, yet gooey with a generous amount of dark chocolate. I immediately proclaimed it my favorite cookie in Austin. Cheers ThoroughBread! read more

This cute little bakery is tucked next to the Bluebonnet Market that has been there a million years. The cookies are huge and delicious, and $4 each. I recommend the banana and Nutella cookies. So gooey and great. The cute little playground at Zilker ES right across the street is great for a walk, swing, or tennis match before or after. They've been in business over two years, and I can't wait to try the bread loafs next. They were all out so call first or order online if you're making a big trip. Leave time for pickup because it's one group at a time inside: covid aware. read more

The blueberry rosemary scones are out of this world! So so good! I also like to get the banana Nutella and trail mix cookies. Large and so delicious! read more
3-3.5 stars, but rounding down for this visit since I didn't quite love any of the items I tried. ThoroughBread is located slightly off the beaten path, and they are in a stand alone building right off the road. It wasn't busy at noon on a Tuesday, and it seemed like the majority of items were available. However, some of the cookies were low in quantity, as were their breads. I tried: -PB&J Cookie ($4.50, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=imNQEpmB_KRRKa8ah7o_2A&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Yum- this was the favorite out of the items that I tried this visit. It was on the sweeter side, but I loved the jam filling and the chewy peanut butter cookie- recommended! -Chocolate Chip Cookie ($4, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=uovP_H9fvpG3CiKJcbSn-A&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): This cookie was a little too sweet for me, and had too many chocolate chips. I appreciated that it was on the chewy side, but I would opt to try other items the next time around. -Avocado Egg Cheese Burridough ($6.50, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=qQ-ReMav4ykMCmnxLF2OjA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I was super excited to try their burridough, but the dough was too thick/dense. I liked the egg and cheese in the filling, but wasn't a fan of the warm avocado in here. I'll have to come back and give their breads and other cookies a try. No seating was available (indoors or outdoors). Parking was easy to find at the time, but they only had a small lot with a few spots available. read more
