I am always on the lookout for a quality, authentic French bakery, and after hearing great things about Violette Bakehouse, I couldn't wait to give them a try. I love a good almond croissant and chocolate croissant, but of course by the time I decided to stop by in the afternoon, they were all gone. Next time I know to arrive earlier in the day! Not to be deterred, the vegetable quiche looked amazing, and it was delicious. The crust was clearly fresh and homemade. I also loved that the owner stayed on brand and carries Maison Perrier drinks. The Forever Strawberry is one of my favorite flavors. For those of you who prefer gluten-free options, they offer GF macarons! I'm not gluten-free, so I indulged in the coconut and Oreo macarons, and they were delicious too. One incredible deal they offer is a $10 lunch special that includes quiche, a drink, and chips. Oh. My. Gosh. Run, don't walk to try these croissants. After living in france for 6 months I thought croissants would never be the same for me back in the states. This statement stood true until today. Violettes croissants are light, airy, and don't leave you feeling bogged down after eating (or inhaling) one. The vanilla eclair is also very good! I stopped here to pick up pastries for a few clients and the woman who helped me was very sweet and helpful through the process. I also got the spiced pear latte which was just okay. I was looking for a little more flavorful and found it to be more watery. Next time I'll skip the coffee and go for an extra pastry instead lol. read more

Wanted to check this place out as it was fairly new - It's just off campus so clearly catered towards students. It was quite "empty" inside, seating and decor -wise. Sadly, most of the coffee items were made by a vending machine, which while it's consistent thus then lacks any creativity to it. Hard to justify for the price or tipping even. The pastries were pretty good actually, and the staff was nice but we ended up getting coffee somewhere else afterwards anyway. read more

Extremely friendly customer service!!! I ordered a flan over the phone for my brother and the girl answering said they'd have to check because they don't make flan much anymore. She came back and said we can do it! I was so grateful. Then when I came in to pick it up, the gorgeous girl at the counter was so sweet. My first time in. I went to sample macarons and had a mixed experience. I bought four. It was a warm humid day. The flavors were subtle, the colors were good, the chew on one was great, crispy outside. Two were chewy (as would be expected on a humid Texas day.) and one was over the top crispy. Like over baked. Do not sleep on this bakery! I work really close and it has become my go to place for a treat. They have delicious croissants and turnovers, but also vegetable and protein filled quiches for a special breakfast. And when I'm really treating myself I get a slice of the Black Forest or Opera cakes. There's also this chocolate and hazelnut covered mousse that is to die for. Our visit to Violette Bakehouse this morning was the perfect start to UT Family Weekend! Being from out-of-town, the location close to campus and the convenient parking were a big plus. The cheery atmosphere and big smiles that greeted us upon entry drew us to the bakery case. Wow! Such beautiful creations to behold! I chose a bacon and mushroom quiche and a strawberry cruffin. I had never heard of a cruffin before, but it's like a flaky croissant in the shape of a muffin with a delicious strawberry filling. It was beautiful, and I wish I had thought to take a photo of it. I was just too eager to taste it. The hand-held quiche was a tasty balance of filling and crust-very good! My son enjoyed his choices of coffee pecan roll and vanilla eclair so much that he was unwilling to sacrifice a bite of either one to share with me! I look forward to returning...maybe this afternoon for the Easter bunnies. read more

WOW! Tried this place randomly and I have to say again WOW! The treats here are made by the owner/operator, who is from France, and I have to say rarely do I encounter treats crafted with this amount of care and attention to detail. I lived in Paris for a while, these treats are as good or better than anything I tried there, and I'm a foodie so I like to sample new stuff. We went here for my mother's birthday, she doesn't like cake she likes french pastries. When we got in the shop everything looked so good we bought almost all of it for our party and let me tell you, everything we bought was an absolute delight! Meticulously beautiful and absolutely spot on flavors and textures. This place is a start up, it's not in the most chic location, but it's not about the atmosphere right now, that will come later, this is about the treats. That said the location is very clean and bright and we sat outside in front and had a coffee with a treat and it was great. The coffee I will say is done via a pro level Keurig Automatic machine. It's not ideal (a little anemic as Keurig things are) but having been around the coffee business all my adult life I know why this was a better choice to start up with over a full blown hand crafted espresso operation, so don't go here thinking it's going to be a coffee-centric experience, it's not a "coffee house" like you may be thinking. This is all about the treats, I would drive to San Antonio for a box of these treats. I've eaten in "fancy" restaurants all over the world and any dessert from here would be on par with anything I've had before, and better because it has a very sincere vibe. This is a Patisserie. So PLEASE get out and go try something from here, the pastries and other treats are magnificent! It's hard to make something like this work in Austin, so go try it and see why this is worth your attention and support. And tell your friends, help this person succeed, they deserve it. Very authentic vibes and this is obviously a master baker who loves what she does. I love it and will be back here on a very regular basis. I am so happy with my experience with Violette Bakehouse! I've never ordered a custom cake before and I found this bakery on Google Maps. I looked at the pictures and didn't see anything related to what I was looking for so I filled out a super quote form that was listed on the website. I described what I wanted and I was surprised that I got a response right away. She gave me multiple options and sizes for the cake I wanted!! Her pricing was a really great and I ended up ordering it the next day! I sent her some inspiration pictures but I wasn't really picky, so I basically told her to create something based on my inspo pics and I am absolutely thrilled with the result. I transported the cake to two places for pictures before I even cut a slice because it was so beautiful!!! Stephanie was super great to work with and she was on top of everything.
