Cherrywood CH is one of my absolute fave spots to frequent. It's a fantastic place to meet a friend and grab a bite, or to bring your laptop or book and be productive. The music can be loud so bring headphones if you like. I can't get enough of their tacos-their tofu is so darn delicious, and paired with their black beans, potatoes and red salsa is chef's kiss! I love that they have a great variety on their menu, and vegetarians/vegans have hearty options to choose from! Their patio is large and divine; there is often live music out there on the weekends. Response to Owner: I appreciate you validating my experience. If I could finally get an answer about the 'mystery chocolate' cake/ pie. I'll add more stars. It looks like peanut butter chocolate. If it's chocolate all through, it would make a difference in my decision to buy it in case it is too rich one way or the other. I didn't want to go through the hassle of a refund if it didn't taste/ wasn't the flavor as expected. All baked goods there look delicious but, debunking the 'mystery chocolate' one might also be good for staff to know for patrons/ customers that have any allergies! The place is wonderful. I always get good service here. It's a bit on the expensive side. I was very excited to see Beto O'rourke here. They have a lovely patio. Last time I was here I steered a way from my usual single classic breakfast taco and....oh shocker!.... Got Texas cheesesteak tacos. It was good but I sort of wish there was an option to order those as singles. It was too much food to finish in one seating. Remembered that this used to be my favorite place to study and get coffee in college and decided to return on a whim. Let me tell you, this place hasn't changed in years and I am thrilled! The food is a little pricey but they're pretty big portions and their coffee is TO DIE FOR. Staff are so helpful and friendly and there's plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, not to mention lots of parking which is rare in Austin. This is a great place to WFH or meet a group. Lots of tables inside and outside. Inside, there are plenty of outlets you can sit near. Free WiFi makes it even easier. There is also a sizable parking lot, although it fills up quick (I think nearby businesses also use it). Service is quick and friendly, too. Nevertheless, I can't give it 5 stars just because of food quality. I was a little disappointed! Menu is extensive in terms of options, but the food itself is a little lacking. For instance, my latte was filled with coffee grinds (if you look closely in the photo, you'll see them on the rim of my mug). Burrito was also unnecessarily greasy. Cute neighborhood spot! I appreciate the cozy, inclusive atmosphere and the wide selection of beverages to choose from. I opted for a beer this time - they had quite a few craft beers on tap. I've also had their coffee (iced and hot lattes) in the past which are great. Service is always friendly and prompt. Tonight was my first time dining here. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich for dinner and it was very underwhelming. I'd definitely skip that next time. My friend got the blueberry smoothie which had an overpowering peanut butter flavor. It is a very nice "meow-wolf" vibe place. It is a cute, mellow coffee shop that has a good variety of breakfast and brunch options. Service is good, over the counter. Do not be in a hurry. The line is always long, and waiting for food takes a while. The Cuban coffee was delicious and worth it. My husband had the pancakes, and they were wow. I love visiting Cherrywood once in a while to either work from home or read a book since it's so cozy! They have both indoor and outdoor seating too. I like that they have coffee and other drinks, but they also have a pretty extensive breakfast lunch and dinner menu and everything is pretty tasty. The pastries are also delicious! I would say the service could maybe be improved a little bit but it might just be because I went on an off day! Overall, definitely recommend checking out. read more

Taking 2 stars off because they make you pay $4 for drip coffee that they fill half way in an 8oz mug, and then charge you $2 to refill in a to-go cup. A gem of a place to work at, catch up with friends or go on a solo date! I've been here a couple of times and there is always ample seating and a lovely atmosphere, they've got a wonderful patio with loads of seating which is perfect in this great weather. I've gotten their fish sandwich which was huge, a little pricey and I may try to get their breakfast stuff/tacos next time. Their coffee though was at a good price range and I paid around 6 usd for a small Cuban con leche that I'm STILL thinking about. It was made perfectly with the right amount of sweetness that made it a treat but still tasted like coffee and not a shake. Parking has been okay for me since there is a shared parking lot but I can imagine that can get full sometimes. read more

Cherrywood is now a new favorite coffee shop of mine when it comes to coffee shops in Austin, along with Thunderbird! I came here with two friends for brunch on a Saturday. Their coffee selection is extremely long, and they offer any syrup you may desire. I ended up getting a strawberry latte, but couldn't detect much strawberry flavor. For my meal, I got the sweet potato hash which came surrounded by onion, garlic, and peppers, all of which was topped by two poached eggs (I chose poached, eggs can be prepared how you like) and hollandaise sauce. Probably the best brunch meal I've hand in a lonnnnng while! They have a large outdoor area and they had a live band too! Parking is also ample and spacious. The food: best queso and chips I have had in a long time, delicious chocolate muffins, and a refreshing hibiscus mint tea. The vibe: Keep Austin Weird pre-tech boom. They are not looking to impress you with instagramable moments or matching furniture. Lots of hodgepodge art from local artists on display. This feels like a place I could work from leisurely all day and no one would bat an eye. Love their devotion to sustainability. When you purchase an iced tea from them, you get two free refills which seems like something small but it really is appreciated and makes you feel welcome to hang out for a bit. She then asked us a question, which we didn't hear (we thought she was still talking to the male barista) and asked her to repeat, she kept mumbling and we had to ask a few times to repeat her question. She got upset and loudly shouted the question at us, obviously frustrated. Overall she was extremely rude to both us and the other employee. I was looking for a cafe where I could both study and have real food, and I found Cherrywood. The outdoor seating looked very vibey and social, while almost everyone sitting inside was working. The lighting was dim inside, and there were very few outlets. I had the Sol taco, one of their giant breakfast tacos, which tasted good but was difficult to eat. My friend had the fries and chai latte. They have an extensive drink menu. Many of the empty tables were very dirty. I really enjoyed the work/study atmosphere inside. The trivia on the TV was fun, and the music was pleasing. The main thing that made me uncomfortable was all the aggressively extremist political signage and stickers. I was so excited to try this place as the location is between a friend and I so it seemed like a perfect halfway meeting spot. I don't often venture into Austin and was pleasantly surprised that parking wasn't as bad as I expected. I brought my pup along for the visit as they are listed as dog-friendly and when I arrived was greeted by numerous signs welcoming leashed pups on the patio. Win. We grabbed our table and began to catch up. For the first hour or so, we watched the staff carry food to surrounding tables but didn't even realize they weren't wait staff as much as food runners. A few times they would even socialize with us, ooh and ahh over the puppy, laughing with us at a random one-liner, etc. but the one thing they never did? Ask if we needed anything. This would have posed an issue if I were there solo... have to go inside to order but dogs are welcome on the patio... In any case, I made my way to the counter which was busy and I always take that as a good sign... They have your normal variety of coffee beverages. Everything you'd expect including a few Sugar Free varieties. They also have a nice display case filled with the days selection of muffins and pastries along with a menu. I decided to keep my order for the two of us simple... or so I thought. A large brewed coffee with room for cream, a simple iced latte, a side of bacon and a side of sausage. Sweet girl behind the counter was still a bit flustered from the customer ahead of me who had clearly never ordered coffee before or used a credit card machine. She also shared that it was her first day. To record the order as simple as it was, she had to call over help and her helper seemed annoyed. Look, we've all been there. When it's busy and your new employee is asking for help, don't be impatient. It's rude to your staff and off putting to your customers. We complete the transaction, I'm given a number for my order and told they would bring it out. Great. I go back out. After about 20 minutes, we get our sides of bacon and sausage. Both were good. Not spectacular but good. Know what we didn't get? Our coffees. So we wait and wait and wait... finally after a total of 30 min has passed, my friend goes in to see about them. They aren't ready yet. Um. It's an iced latte and DRIP COFFEE. I wait another 10 minutes before I go in trying to stifle my inner Karen... I do get the attention of what I assume is the manager or at minimum the manager on duty who was as impatient with me for asking for my coffee as he was with the sweet girl behind the counter and told me I needed to wait and be patient. When I looked at him with my mom voice and shared that half of my drink order was waiting but I was missing the brewed coffee, he huffed before pouring it himself. I don't want to give a poor review. The new girl was doing her absolute best. The patio was lovely. The food was decent. But the service was so atrocious that I don't see myself venturing back. read more

I enjoyed this spot for one of my "Work-from-Cafe" Fridays. I sat outside where the ambience was peaceful and quiet, aside from the gang of birds that stayed ready to pounce on people's food as soon as they stepped away for a quick second. This gang rolls deep and is the biggest downside to using the outdoor space. I ordered the iced lemon black tea(since they were out of their fresh juices), which was just okay . The ruben and fries, however, were pretty delicious. The staff was okay. It was a decent spot, but there are many coffee shops to check out in Austin.. so onto a new spot next week! read more
