Golden Hour Cafe & Wine Bar on Menchaca Road in South Austin was truly an ideal spot to grab drinks at golden hour, as the majority of their seating is outdoors and dog friendly. Such a cute vibe, ideal for both coffee and wine, catching up with friends in a relaxing setting. While they do have some indoor seating, a unique highlight was that they have two larger picnic tables under string lights, and while we were there we saw families with babies pushing strollers to meet up in this more quiet area. There's plenty of free parking in their lot right out front, and it is connected to an apartment complex with a pool - how lucky are these residents to have such a convenient café! While it wasn't on their menu, they were able to make me an Espresso Tonic, combining tonic water, ice, and espresso in a glass cup. It was even more delicious as the ice slightly started to melt. They had a single dose espresso grinder at the time, so we couldn't see which type of espresso they were using (I typically prefer light roasts for espresso tonics) but it was still enjoyable and refreshing. They have a large selection of bottles of wine for sale, and you can order wines by the glass as well. My friend didn't love the sparkling rosé as much as she'd been hoping to, but it was served in a cute glass so that helped make up for it. Next time, we are going to try their red wines by the glass.

Did a pick up from Future Bakery Cooperative pop up at Golden Hour. The Brown Butter Toffee Cookie Cake was to die for! Will be back to check out the regular menu. Cute interior and friendly folks were working when I stopped in.

I finally made it to Golden Hour for happy hour! My best friend and I went post work for a weekly debriefing, drinks, and nibbles. It was such a cutie place and great for a nice drink in the summer. Rustic and homey decor and fabulous light fixtures! The wine list was comprehensive, and they even have a whole wall of bottles you can look at and open up for your visit! The only downside is parking is limited, but definitely worth the visit! I got a rosé which was smooth and crisp, and my friend got the ume cocktail which was phenomenal. We shared the focaccia with bread and olive oil which really hit the spot for our gab session. I highly recommend!

Wow what a great stop on a sunny Saturday morning! This is a very very cute cafe / wine bar to catch a vibe, a good bite, and a good tune before you set off on your day. Located in the same area as Perch apartments, but parking exists just for the cafe before you enter the apartment area. Parking spots are a little tight, so just mind your doors if many people are there. We tried the breakfast burrito which was delicious (loved the chipotle and cheese pull, a as well as the very fresh tortilla it was in), and a matcha latte with honey and oat milk. Honestly one of the best matcha lattes I've had in south Austin - great quality. Glad this is a part of the neighborhood!!

The service and ambiance are amazing, but I did find the pricing to be on the higher side compared to similar spots.

I was so happy to finally try Golden hour for happy hour which runs till 6 pm. This wine bar is located the front of the Perch apartment complex. These residents are lucky. They have wine by the glass or bottles. We enjoyed their citrus marinated olives, bread and butter and Texas cheeses with honey comb. The are very small snacks but there is also a kitchen menu with featured dishes. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very cozy and inviting.

Lovely little gem of a coffee shop and wine bar on Menchaca Road in south Austin. Part of the Perch apartment complex. Intimate spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Not too loud. Great place to meet or study. A few options for meals that look tasty but haven't tried. Excellent choice for those who prefer to support local businesses.

Deliciousness!! My daughters and I really enjoyed everything about Golden Hour! I took a pic of mine before I indulged but my girls had already dug into theirs! Iced coffee and thirst quenchers were amazing. Service was excellent and we sat outside to enjoy the mid morning breeze. We will definitely return and recommend our friends and family as well.

A cute, cozy, and modern cafe in South Austin! I ordered a pumpkin latte, challah toast, avocado toast, and eggs. The latte was perfectly balanced--creamy and not too sweet. The challah toast was fluffy and slightly sweet, pairing nicely with the butter and jam. The avocado toast was delicious, especially with the pistachios on top. The eggs were fluffy, though a touch too salty.

I don't know how they managed to make a breakfast burrito this delicious, but they did. The perfect texture + the tastiest sauce = one great burrito. The latte was also delicious. The concept of the cafe/coffee bar in between the apartments and leasing office was definitely unique. We were able to snag a table inside, where many people were also working on their laptops. I can see why...it's a pretty cozy spot. Parking was also easy to find. I'd definitely recommend!

Country bread with tomatoes and ham ... OMG just order it - you won't be disappointed.

Love everything on their menu. Right now I am obsessed with their breakfast burrito and their salmon toast with capers. Great for breakfast, lunch, snacks or dinner. House made chai is also not to be missed.

We visited the Golden Hour on a Saturday evening at 7:30 and found it not crowded so appreciated that. It took several minutes of standing at the counter for any staff to acknowledge us. The menu is handwritten on a chalkboard and I had trouble reading the handwriting. Not sure which wine to order, the server offered me a taste of her recommendation. I enjoyed it so ordered a glass ($14). We ordered ham and burrino cheese which was served with a baguette type bread ($18). The cheese and ham were very good. We Also had watermelon gel and fresh watermelon with a furikake seasoning and the contrast between the textures was interesting; they were both delish. My husband had a canned Bizzaro Spritz ($8) which he said was very good. This place was lovely but rather pricey so will not go often. Drive a little car - parking spaces are rather slim!

Ask the Community - Golden Hour

Do they have happy hour specials?

I didn't see any indications of happy hour specials at Golden Hour.

Is this a good place to come with laptop and get work done during the day or is it more of a restaurant/cafe?

If you were getting 2-3 hours of work done in the morning, yes. It's modest, close-quartered seating indoors, expect wine & yap in the afternoon with a good chance of families coming in with kids - for all of these reasons I would naturally pick… Read more

Both were really good and felt like a treat. Out front, you've got the busy street, which somehow ends up feeling kind of meditative while you sit and sip. I've also never had an issue with parking, which is always a plus. Looking forward to coming back and exploring the food menu more, but even just for drinks and coworking, it's already a solid spot.

Parking was a bit of a challenge but was able to park on the curb out front. Once inside, we placed our order at the counter and pre-paid and were given a number. They have an extensive menu with traditional Greek dishes and all-day breakfast options. As well as a full bar offering aromatic coffee, hand-crafted cocktails, fine wine, and a selection of local and international beers. The restaurant was busy we were able to place our order in a timely fashion. I opted for a cocktail along with lentils and rice and added chicken as the protein. There was indoor and outdoor seating available. After ordering, we sat outside in the most cozy and intimate outdoor seating area. Unfortunately, after waiting 30+ minutes, we never received our food. When we checked at the counter, the interaction felt pretty condescending, staff insisted the order had already been brought out even though we never received it and still had our number with us. At that point we had to cancel the order so we wouldn't miss our show. I do appreciate that they offered a full refund without issue, but overall the experience left us disappointed, especially with how the situation was handled.

None of us touched it. Frites - 9/10, hard to go wrong here. Nice and crispy French cruller - 7/10, I think this is just personal presence here I wished it was warmed up. Flavor was good but it was a little dry. Burger - 5/10, the flavor is there and definitely has potential but it was so bloody and rare which is not what we asked for. My friend has a gluten allergy and she asked for the burger lettuce wrapped and it just came on top of a huge chunk of iceberg so wouldn't recommend that if you want it lettuce wrapped. Chicken sandwich - 8/10, this was good with a nice crispy chicken. It could have used something sweet to balance the spice though it was a little one dimensional.
