Postino has one of my favorite happy hours in town! They have $6 glasses of wine and half off bottles EVERY day (yes, that means weekends) until 5p. It doesn't get better than that. I recently came with two friends and we ended up splitting a bottle of their sauvignon blanc which was truly perfection on a warm day. We also tried their fondue and obviously snagged a bruschetta board. We opted to the brie apple fig, warm artichoke, pepper jam goat cheese, and a prosciutto for our omnivore friend. I loved all the ones that I tried but the pepper jam & artichoke definitely stand out as my favorites. I'm obsessed with the whole concept and feel like its the perfect snack to pair with wine. I've heard that they do $25 bottles & board combos after 8p on Monday & Tuesday nights which I can't wait to try! read more

We came in on Friday night and were so impressed with both the service and the food that we were excited enough to bring more friends back the very next night. Unfortunately, our Saturday experience could not have been more different. We arrived about an hour before closing on Saturday and were told that we would need to vacate by midnight, which we completely understood and had no issue with. We were happy to order promptly and make sure we were out on time. Unfortunately, the tone and attitude of the staff made our entire party extremely uncomfortable. Several people even refrained from ordering because of how unwelcome we felt. We were repeatedly reminded, in an unnecessarily rude manner, that we needed to leave--even while we still had approximately 20 minutes remaining before closing. To make matters worse, several of our food items were forgotten. Before closing, we were told that the staff had forgotten them and would not be fulfilling those orders. My soup was forgotten as well and was eventually handed to me in a tiny to-go cup with no utensils. Wine pours were being taken away while we were still finishing them, despite still having time before closing. At one point, we were being told to leave while we were already actively gathering our things and heading out. We completely understand that restaurants have strict closing times, and we were more than willing to respect that. What was disappointing was the level of annoyance, dismissiveness, and rudeness we experienced throughout the evening. We had been happy to return, especially after such a great experience the night before. We tipped well, had a substantial tab on Friday, and genuinely wanted to support the restaurant. Unfortunately, based on how our party was treated on Saturday, we're now unsure whether we'll be returning. Oh my! This was so good. Met here with an out of town friends and they loved it too! I ordered the (4) bruschetta board. Smoked salmon, fig, anchovy, and tomato (can't remember that one's name). I requested the gluten free version which I was thankful they had. I'd love to see them offer some versions with non cows dairy such as some sheep cheese like feta. My fave ones were the smoked salmon and the fig. It was so beautiful inside and outside. We chose to eat inside but took pictures on the patio. Servers were attentive. This place even gives a discount to the parking garage attached to the building. You do have to scan the QR code in the garage when you arrive to pay for parking. (I didn't know that until an hour into my dining and my friend mentioned paying for parking so I had to run out to my car!) Looks like they change the flavors of the boards so it would be great to come back and try different flavors. There were some dessert items I saw online that weren't available on the in restaurant menu that would have been nice to try. They also have a wine club if you're into that. I think I'm done with this location, they're very nice inside, but their parking system is incredibly skeezy. It is supposed to automatically record when you arrive and when you leave and they have a QR code you can scan for a discount, but this is now the second time in three visits that I eat in the restaurant, go home, and then a few hours later have the parking garage text me saying that I never left and that I am being charged a huge fee. You then call and they correct it but I'm done with having to do this extra step, it isn't worth it and honestly looks like a scam. I'm wondering if the restaurant gets a cut. read more

When I lived in Dallas, we frequented the Addison location because of their great Kids Meal options. I was so happy to learn about the new location in Austin since we recently moved back! Still love postino - it's such a great spot! I came on St. Patrick's day for some drinks and we arrived during happy hour, so got $6 glasses of wine (they also have $6 beer). I got a cocktail which was cucumber based (a lot stronger than I expected but I liked it!), and got a glass of Greek rose which was lovely. Our server was friendly and checked in often. My mom got a couple glasses of moscato which was also great, and we got sweet potato fries to offset the alcohol (really good, spiced with tahini etc, but not a very big serving - was $9 i think?). They have lots of parking in a private lot behind the place, and tons of seating inside; it was not crowded when I came but even if it had been they have a LOT of space so you prob wouldn't have much of a wait if any. We visited on New Year's Eve because they have a special on Mondays and Tuesdays that after 8 PM, a board of bruschetta and a bottle of wine is only $25! My absolute favorite item on the menu is the mushroom fondue. It's rich and creamy and I love it. Their bruschetta boards are legit. They have a variety of options to choose from. You get four pieces on each board. They cut each piece into four slices to make it easy to share. My favorites are the Brie apple fig, the prosciutto, and the tomato bacon arugula. We also ordered Nick's charcuterie board and everything on it was delicious. We especially loved the pretzel and the pimento cheese spread. Both bottles of red wine we tried were solid choices. I had been to Postinos south once before for a happy hour with some coworkers and recently returned to meet up with some friends so it was time to review! The restaurant is cute with both indoor seating and a nice patio area with umbrellas if it isn't mid-July temperatures. Our server was friendly and attentive and kept my water full which is always a big plus in my book. Most important as always- the food! I ordered a bruschetta board: -Brie, Apple & Fig- delicious! It doesn't look like much but the combo of flavors was top knotch, loved the rich cheese and the crispness of the apple, and the amount of toppings was perfect with the amount of bread. 2nd favorite. -Burrata, Bacon, Arugula, and Tomato- this one looks great, I love the tomatoes piled on top, and it was juicy and tasty with a nice punch of flavor from the bacon. This was my 3rd favorite but I have nothing bad to say about it, I just liked the other 2 even more! This is a solid choice. -Ricotta, Dates & Pistachio- least favorite and I actually didn't love it, wouldn't order this one again. The toppings tasted good, but the ratio of toppings to bread was way off. Each bite tasted 90% of bread with a little smear of cheese and some pistachio. I think it really needs more cheese. -Mushroom and Mascarpone- The BEST. It's probably mostly because I love mushrooms, but there was a mountain of mushrooms! The toppings were piled on there and they were perfectly sauteed and juicy and went so well with the mascarpone! We fought over this one lol. I also ordered a cocktail, the Tre Cucumber- it was delicious but a bit dangerous! It comes in a relatively small glass, and it went down fast and was strong. Maybe I would do better with the same drink over more ice in a taller cup lol, but I had to specifically not order a 2nd because it was too easy to drink. They do have a parking garage and validate for 1 free hour- it's easiest if you download the parking app then you can just scan the QR code at the table (ask your server if you don't see it) and it gives you the free hour. read more

Visited Postino a couple of months ago with Yelp and have been thinking about when I could return ever since. I finally made it happen this week, and am happy to report it was just as great as my first visit! I came with my friend and we split a bruschetta board (of course) with the French onion, prosciutto, warm artichoke spread, and burrata bacon and arugula bruschettas. To drink, I tried the Tré Cucumber cocktail and my friend ordered the espresso martini. The bruschettas were warm and tasty, with crunchy bread and delicious toppings. They could have used slightly more toppings on the two edge pieces of each bruschetta, but they were still good. My cucumber cocktail was very refreshing, and the espresso martini was perfect before a night out. We sat on the patio which was loud as expected (it fronts S. Lamar) but we still enjoyed the lively atmosphere and people (car?) watching. I think Postino is a great spot to meet up with friends for their great happy hour, or for snacks before going out to bars. The location is prime for South Austin, and the free parking is a real perk (not sure if it will remain free or if this is only while the building is under construction). Came here around 7 on a Friday night and it was JUMPING. We were quoted a 45 minute wait for an inside table and ended up waiting just over an hour. Note: tables on the patio and seats at the bar were turning over much faster and the hostesses offer those as they come up. I also like I can track my place online. They do have a little cute seating area to wait with waiter so we just sipped a cocktail while waiting. I went because of a Yelp elite perk, so unfortunately I can't rate the items I got for free but we did order and pay for a round of wine (Tempranillo and a Zinfandel) as well as the mushroom fondue starter and Nick's board- which is like a German type board with sausages and mustard and pimento cheese. RUN don't walk for that mushroom fondue- it was so rich a thick and melty and seasoned perfectly. My only critique is that they give you a nice hearty cup of it and just 4 measly little pieces of bread. Thank gosh for the lard having pretzel bread on it to use because the fondue to bread ratio was not right. I did enjoy our board but you get 4 teeny tiny, like smaller than a mini hot dog sausage pieces and only three of the other sausage. Plenty of the pimento cheese which I felt was really good but I would expect a bit more meat for the price point. I love the corn nuts but they just scatter them across the board to take up space and they kept falling off and again- take up space that should have meat! I did loooove the peppers on there. "Drinking wine at lunch is not a crime!" I love their slogan and I definitely partook in "wine-thirty." I am a HUGE fan of Postino and have been to all six locations in Houston. I am so happy that Postino finally opened in Austin! No matter which location I visit, I always have a wonderful experience. Parking: The parking garage is currently under construction, however it is free to park (for now at least). There's plenty of signs in the garage to guide you to the entrance of the restaurant. I love that every location has a unique themed art wall. Postino SoLa has a wall full of keychains! There are so many and the wall is huge! I actually had fun looking at some of the different keychains. The decor overall was just really cool and on brand with Postino. Nathan was our main server, however all of the staff shares tables. Nathan was so sweet and helpful with suggestions. He also asked if we had any food allergies or dietary restrictions which we appreciated. The menu is basically the same across each location, though I think there may be some slight variation with the wine offerings. I've had many of the menu items and I've enjoyed just about everything I've tried. I went with one of my faves: the Tuscan Tuna on Ciabatta. My mom had the Caprese Panini on Ciabata. We both opted for the side salad over chips. I tasted a bite of the Caprese and it was delicious. In addition to the Tuscan Tuna, one of my other faves is the Smoked Salmon. So delicious! Wine: Take advantage of the free samples! There were some wines on the menu that I've had before (Perfekt Riesling, Ebbio Sparkling Rosé, Altura Rosé). I sampled the Famille Perrin White Blend and the Stolpman Love You Bunches Orange Wine. Orange wine is hit or miss for me. I didn't really care for this one, but I liked that they had an orange wine on their menu. I ended up ordering the White Blend as well as the Leitz Einz Zwei Zero Sparkling Rosé. The zero proof rosé was actually very good! My mom took my suggestion and went with the Ebbio which she enjoyed. If you aren't a wine drinker they do have a full bar as well as NA options including delicious lemonades and teas. The Cucumber Honey Lemonade is so tasty and refreshing! Nathan informed us that they will start serving brunch in mid December. If you visit during weekend brunch, be sure to try a Bellini as that is the only time they're offered. Other helpful tips: -Bottles to go are $20 which is a steal! You can usually get your bottle chilled or room temp. Nathan informed me that the bottle of White Blend that I ordered was room temp which was perfectly fine because I wasn't planning to drink it immediately. -Mondays and Tuesdays after 8 pm are $25 board and bottle ($35 for premium bottles of wine). I love this special and you can also order this to go! The smoked salmon bruschetta is my absolute favorite! -We went at lunch time and they had HH prices for the wine and beer which was a nice surprise. They offer $6 glasses of wine and pitchers of beer until 5 pm daily! -If you order a bottle of wine while dining in and aren't able to finish it, they will recork it for you. -They're open late! 11pm during the week, 12a on Fridays and Saturdays. The standout menu item is definitely their bruschetta boards, offering a variety of creative and flavorful options. My favorites were the Chef's Choice--almond hummus with tomatoes--and the mushroom mascarpone. Both were absolutely delicious! For drinks, we ordered a $6 beer pitcher and a glass of red wine. If you are a wine drinker, then Postinos happy hour is a hard one to beat. $6.00 glasses of wine until 5p. I know it ends early if you work until 5p but perfect for a Saturday or Sunday friends get together! Their charcuterie boards are delicious and offer several options from cheeses to chef's board which includes some cured meats, whipped feta and charred artichoke. Yummy! Also their Bruschettas are great choices. I Ioved the Brie, apple and fig spread. And they offer gluten free option which was perfect for our group. Bonus- there is parking in the attached garage right behind it which alleviates the problem of driving around looking for a parking space. The only complaint I would add is that it is super loud, it's hard to carry on a good conversation with out a little bit of shouting. I wonder if there is some kind of insulation that could be added. read more
