    prawn scampi and 1984 drink
    Aruni G.

After listening to Sarah Sharp at the Elephant Room, 10 of us decided to wander upstairs and get a bit to eat. We tried many things including the prawn scampi, empanadas, salads, and a delicious passion fruit desert! Our table was so big, I wasn't able to get photos of everyone's food this time. I had the 1984 cocktail and others had mezcal, old fashions and other cocktails. They handled our random, last minute big table well. There weren't that many other people there that evening so they were able to serve us pretty quickly. I'm sure I'll be back here again soon!

We came in for a downtown outing before a concert and tried basically everything on the bar snacks menu during happy hour. It seems like they often change their menu but overall it was a great experience and I found the dishes to be creative and a good variety. The labne, ebi sando, hamachi crudo, and shishito peppers were standouts for me though the others did not wow me. We also had a drink and with half off, these prices are really reasonable for downtown. The rest of the entree menu also seemed pretty reasonable. The ambience was surprisingly casual but our server was really friendly and checked on us often. I definitely recommend for a downtown date night!

Great food, great ambience! Came here with a group and we tried one of each entree on the menu! Highly recommend the edamame beans! It comes with popping rocks salt and a bit spicy! Very delicious! The fries were good and the steak and short rib was a hit! Also tried two deserts, the berry tiramisu and forgot the name of the other one but both were delicious!

I have been to Swift's Attic, probably about 8 times in the last decade. I will tell you, this time, it was super disappointing. It definitely is not as good as it used to be, and the menu is clearly different from a while back - probably with a head chef change, but here is what we collectively noticed: EVERYTHING was way over salted and oily. The food was drowning in these two things and frankly was disappointing. The presentation is always great, but taste has plummeted and was over powered with salt. Yuck. I will not be going back any time soon, nor recommend. Service was friendly and attentive, but the food was below average and not as creative and flavorful as it used to be. The chocolate desert was pretty good, but skip the strawberry one with styrofoam. I miss the old Swift's Attic!!!

Great vegan options! The atmosphere was modern and very nice, and our server was knowledgeable and attentive. We really liked the roasted cabbage and grilled carrots.

I am still dreaming about the food here! Was in Austin for SXSW and came back to Swift's Attic two nights in a row! Chef Nay is a genius with flavor combinations. The steamed cabbage with thecha, the smoked fish toast, the ricotta agnolotti, and the Saffron strawberry pavlova were all highlights. And the edamame with pop rocks was entertaining! And the mocktails were super tasty and superb value because the flavor is frozen in the large ice cube, which means the drink lasts all night!

Came here once just for drinks for happy hour but decided to come back and try the menu. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, strawberry lemon drop, Kentucky mule, wagyu short ribs, and crab zoba. Our server Sal was fantastic and took great care of us. The place is cozy and the menu is definitely worth a try!

While in downtown Austin waiting for a concert to start we decided to grab a bite to eat at Swifts Attic. This is a trendy lofted restaurant bar that offers delicious foods and an intimate dining experience I loved the interior look of the bar and restaurant. The space had plenty of seating, the decor was appealing, and it felt like an elevated dining experience Our server was phenomenal. She offered great suggestions, brought the food and check in a timely manner, and made sure our waters were always topped off The both the food and drink menus offer a variety of fine dining options with a twist. Some of the items sound bizarre like charred edamame with pop rocks, but it's all delicious Some tips: Consider order a variety of small plates and share them. Each small plate has enough bites to accommodate a party of at least 4-5 (so everyone gets a taste). The edamame, sirloin rolls, short ribs, and shrimp & grits were a must have. One selection that sounded intriguing in concept but failed in execution was the Ice Ball Cocktails. Essentially, these classic cocktails have most of the non alcoholic components frozen in a cocktail ice sphere, and the base alcohol is chilled by it. But the problem is this orb melts slowly, so, you drink the alcoholic and are left with an eventual slush of other ingredients Cheers!

Yummy and curated menu at a great location downtown. Parking - typical downtown parking, best bet is to find a nearby parking garage. Was lucky enough to be able to park at my office nearby. Ambiance - lovedddd the interior of this place. Moody and the decor was great but not too dark or anything like that. Service - Our waiter was great but service was a bit slow. We were there 7pm on a Friday night and they did seem busy, and my group had fun chatting away, but it did seem to take a while to put in our orders, get our drinks and get our check. The food did come out fast and was appropriately paced. Food - Delicious! They recommend you get a handful of plates to share for the table. The falafel was one of the best I've had and their fries with egg was delicious! Brussel sprouts were perfect (when are they not?!) and I also enjoyed the bok choy. They also have a seasonal and normal expansive cocktail menu - creative and fun names.

Great spot to have drinks. I love the old wooden bar. Great job Raneal our bartender. Not only was she friendly and personable, she made us the perfect martini.

This is my fourth visit to this great restaurant. The bar is a great place for just drinks. They make a mean espresso martini. The food is very well prepared and tasty, as well as eclectic Great shared plate options. Good for Vegan/Vegetarian/Omnivores. The iceball cocktails are refillable and so tasty. I live the big round table in a pedestal in the back under an antique chandelier. It's in the second floor above The Elephant Room. Great place to do a whole evening in one building! Easy access to many places downtown from there. One of a kind and worth repeating.

Cool spot for tapas! I came for my birthday with friends and the food was delicious. Every dish had such great flavors and was so unique. Our waitress was very kind too and even brought me a free drink since she gave me a free drink for my birthday and for a wait. She also brought out a birthday dessert (but we had to pay for it which was kind of strange). Overall great time and ambiance!

I recently visited this place with a friend. We found a last min reservation, at. 9:45. Initially when we were greeted by the host, she wasnt sure if the kitchen was even open - but since we had made the reservation - I guess they made an exception. A huge plus point that I'd give this place is that they have vegan options, and I mean optionsss not just one option or an expensive salad. I've avoided such places that looked like hole in the wall things, assuming they'd anyway not have anything catering to my needs - oh was I wrong. Second, the food actually is really decent and creative. The ambiance is very pleasant. It's location is of course perfect if you want to have a night out in the town or enjoy some jazz downstairs. Check it out..

They had no issues when taking our second round order while we were seated, but we were asked to leave the table immediately after. This round also took forever and we drank it standing, crowded, in everyone's way. I was embarrassed as it was my birthday, and I was taking a group of 7 other people - new to Austin - here to check out what was one of my favorite spots. The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there.
