Burger w endive salad

Exquisite environment and delicious plates. Spent a lovely girl brunch w a hardy cocktail maybe for a girl brunch but that's well served. Our host was fine and did let us consider where to sit even to feel out the ambiance before sitting us she was a pleasure we were so unbothered during our girl it was beautiful. Will come back for that burger and maybe even later for dinner it is a nice date spot inside or out

Very nice brunch on a nice sunny Austin day. I would highly recommend the donuts which were perfectly cooked. My omelette was good but not over the moon, would probably try something else if I come back.

Stumbled into this place to grab a cocktail and desperately need to come back for an actual meal. The service was quick for just getting a cocktail. I got an Aperol spritz so nothing crazy but they did a solid job making it. Vibes were so cute! Corn hole with cool outside seating. The indoor seemed vibey but didn't explore it too much!!

Ohhh my goodness! My husband and I went out to brunch and it was just incredible! The patio was beautiful, peaceful and the morning had a light breeze. We could not have asked for a better day! Aiden was our server and had great recommendations. We started with sharing the 'LOADED' HASH BROWNS (GF). I wanted to eat it all day but had to save room! It melted in my mouth and I loved how much cheese was on it!! For my main dish, I got the AVOCADO TOAST 'CROISSANDWICH' and the flakiness of the croissant mixed with the avocado was divine. The sunflower salsa added a bit of heat which blended perfectly. My husband got the OMELETTE. We both love goat cheese and truffle anything. The arugula salad was so light and refreshing. The omelette was cooked exquisitely and I don't even know how to explain delightful flavor combination of the truffle butter with the goat cheese! We obviously had to share a bottle of bubbly to really start our day! I am going to go back for brunch but will need to check out the other menus! I highly recommend!

Visited here on a work outing and really enjoyed our time. We had a table of 15 and the restaurant accommodated us very well. The drinks were good- spicy marg and espresso martini. The food was delicious! My favorites were the whipped ricotta appetizer and tuna tare tare. I got the carbonara and it was amazing and so was the Cesar and steak. I overall liked the decor of this restaurant and the outside seating was nice. Parking was a little tricky but there was street parking.

Lovely patio, huge cups of coffee, and friendly service make this little spot tucked away in the Hotel Magdalena a great brunch option that may be an easier reservation to land than some other more well known Austin brunch locales. The loaded hash browns are a great shareable plate and the yogurt parfait is a monster. Great spot!

My gf and I went here on Friday afternoon. I love that the location is a bit secluded so it didn't even feel that we're really close to the busy Congress St (during SXSW too!). We ordered the mozzarella sticks ($7), spritzers ($10), and apples and endives salad ($8) from the happy hour menu. Everything was delicious at a very decent price considering the location. Service was impeccable. We sat way past the happy hour time, and the waitress refilled our water until the end. Such a great spot for happy hour!

Very scenic space. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the greenery. Service was sufficient. We ordered cappuccino, chorizo burrito and french toast. The French toast alone was worth the trip. I would definitely recommend!

5 Stars for the venue. If the weather is good, I would highly recommend sending outside! It's beautiful and shaded. I enjoyed my Brioche Donuts! They were quite tasty and well made. The Loaded Hash Browns on the other hand were disappointing to say the least. The were a little cold in the middle and did not have a great texture (or taste). The restaurant gets bonus points though for the free valet. You can valet your car at the hotel and the restaurant will validate it for 2 hours.

Connected to Hotel Magdalena, Summer House is tucked back behind some other businesses so it isn't on the main street, but this slightly hidden gem is a great vibe. They have both indoor and outdoor seating (with heaters), mid-century modern decor, a large bar, and the restrooms are outdoors. However, we had some slight issues with the food. You can make a reservation for Summer House on Music Lane in Austin on OpenTable, and there is plenty of street parking available, paid via app. If you can't find street parking, you can also valet or park in the large parking structure for a slightly higher amount. The staff member Dom was super nice & went above and beyond with his hospitality. Hopefully he is working when you go! For food, we shared 3 things for a late dinner, ~9pm arrival on a Thursday. MUST ORDER - Wood Grilled Mushroom ($12, GF/V) with tahina, good balsamic, and rosemary. This savory-smokey combo was delicious, and paired extremely well either the tahini below. The texture of the grilled mushrooms was absolute perfection, and anyone who even slightly enjoys mushrooms needs to share this dish. WARNING - Broccolini ($8, GF/V) described on the menu as "Broccolini, lemon, chili." This should come with a fire spice marker on the menu or a warning from the server. I have never had such spicy broccolini in my life - my lips were burning for the remainder of the night, and it looked like I had gotten lip injections. There were lots of chili pieces, both seeds and bits of the chili pepper, and if you're sensitive to spice, I strongly recommend that you ask to hold the chili, or maybe they'll eventually change the spice level on this dish if it's too spicy for the masses. Carbonara Pasta ($23) with bucatini, shaved pecorino cheese, country ham, and egg. This pasta has a very creamy egg sauce, and the pork is extra crispy. Another positive was that the water came in a large glass fish, which came with matching cups that were such a cute vibe. Unfortunately, even though our food was very spicy, we didn't get another bottle of water brought to us. I'd return for the vibes, decor, wood grilled mushrooms, and to try other things on the menu. Next time, I'd inquire about spice levels - especially if it says the word chili.

This spot offers a relaxing ambiance with beautiful natural light and large glass windows that showcase the view perfectly. While the menu has changed slightly, there are still plenty of options to enjoy. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, which added to the experience. I tried the smoked turkey sandwich, which was packed with flavor and paired with crispy fries, while my friend ordered the beer-battered cod sandwich, which they really enjoyed. Both dishes were yummy. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this spot. The only downside is the downtown location, which meant paying for parking--and it was pricey--but that's to be expected in Austin.

This place is such a nice little oasis tucked away behind the bustling South Congress! We came for brunch on a Sunday and it was a great experience. Our server was attentive, and the food was delicious and nicely portioned. It was lowkey and peaceful but had an elevated vibe. Note that the restaurant validates valet parking for up to 2 hours.

Visited here recently with some friends for Sunday brunch. Absolutely love the ambiance inside feels kind of mid century modern. The service was really good, our waitress was sweet and nice at recommending drinks. The booth/table they sat us at could've used some more cleaning underneath. I ordered the challah French toast and italicus spritz. Loved the drink, citrusy but not bitter. The French toast was huge and with the mascarpone hardly needed to add maple syrup to it. It was a tad expensive for what it was, would have loved if it came with a small side portion. My husband and i spilt the loaded hash browns. All in all a good place to enjoy once in a while for brunch, tricky parking but if you're lucky you can find something on soco or use the garage.

Is there parking validation here?

No there is no parking validation

I have reservations here for dinner in a couple of weeks but recently had foot surgery. The pictures show a LOT of steps outside, leading to the door of the restaurant. Is there an elevator inside?

From my stay at the Hotel, I believe you can avoid the stairs if you take the hotel elevator up to the first floor and access the restaurant from the back door if this is allowed for non- hotel guests.… Read more

We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

I'm usually not a fan of 'craft cocktails' out bc they're overpriced and not nearly as good as what my partner makes at home, but these were glorious. These drinks had layers of flavor. And fresh ingredients. And they were reasonably priced. Honestly, I don't even remember the last time we had such good drinks out (ok that's a lie but another review and it was at that place where Crowbar used to be - but these win hands down). The bartenders were nice and knowledgeable (Did I mention they make amazing drinks?). The outside has a similar feel to Cosmic but more secluded which is nice. They have plenty of seating, mostly outside, and food from an onsite truck, Sabor Tapatio. Honestly, I feel like this place is a unicorn. 78745 low key vibe but also with some old school Austin feels (I'm talking 2005 mid-Noughties - not 20-teen Rainey Street batch cocktails). The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

It's a rainy night in Austin. My girlfriend is in town because my cousin and her fiancé are getting…read moremarried in Austin. It's also the weekend of our one year anniversary. An hour ago it wasn't raining, but now it's pouring. A few months ago, I heard of a newer bar and experience called Equipment Room just right off of South Congress. Music means everything to me. Nothing can express emotions and instill a feeling in 3 minutes like a song can. I live for that. Equipment Room is inherently Japanese in concept. Existing in Japan for over 50 years, listening bars combine high fidelity audio equipment with impressively crafted cocktails and alcohol combining the passion of music in a space to gather with comfortable chairs and a beautiful atmosphere. The concept has expanded westward as all cool things inevitably do, but I would never think a spot would be successful in Austin like it would be in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and so on. As I back my car into a parking spot on South Congress, I grab the umbrella out of my trunk and walk my girlfriend and me to the entrance trying to not get ourselves soaked in the process. This is not the first time we have tried to go to Equipment Room. We tried to get a walk-in table just to see out of morbid curiosity and that was a failure. I booked her and me a table for this night and I was madly looking forward to it. As we got to the small entrance, we were introduced to the hostess who brought us from the stairs into the main underground space and to our seats on the couch in a large wraparound sofa with other parties sitting near us. The music is faint from the entrance, but once you walk through the main walkway, a wave of sound hits your eardrums. You're immediately engrossed into the music like walking into a concert hall or putting a fresh pair of headphones on for the first time. As we sat down, selections from Outkast's Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik were playing through the speakers. Our hostess introduced us to their "User Manual" (their menu) where it contained all the snacks and drinks you could get your grubby hands on. There's more than just drinks and food on the menu. The first page introduces the concept and gives a few house rules. The second page shows all the equipment this so-called room has, from the premium Klipsch speakers, their preamps and amplifiers as well as their turntables and mixers. It's a dream page for music nerds. I want a $15k speaker in my apartment, but those noise complaints would never end. Our waitress came by shortly to give us water and take our order. Their menu is quite expansive, but the main pages we were told to check out were their A-side drinks or the classics and their B-side drinks, which are more experimental. We had to go with experimental for starters because who knows when you'll get to try something similar again. I started with a Goca Dünya while my girlfriend ordered a Deceptacon. The Goca Dünya was a vodka based floral drink with pistachio foam and Amaro Nonino, an Italian herbal liqueur. The Deceptacon was a rum-based cacao drink with a touch of lime and mint. It took a little time for our drinks to come out, clearly, as they are quite intricate. I loved my drink, bluntly. The pistachio foam was a great balance to the herbal flavors at the bottom. My girlfriend and I continued to enjoy each other's company as the music continued. The space we were in was decorated with posters and memorabilia from legendary artists coming through Austin and some general music decor like that purple album from that Prince guy. The DJ-curator that night was on a tear playing incredible soul music holding the bar hostage with a taste of funk. Jimmy Smith came next before transitioning to a few tracks from Bobbie Gentry. The last albums he pulled out were Steely Dan's Aja (a stone cold classic) and Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life (a top 10 album of all time). Not only was he playing classics like Isn't She Lovely, but he threw down some deeper cuts like Black Man and Contusion. Incredible. We both got another drink with my girlfriend getting their A-Side Espresso Martini while I got the Brown Sugar from their B-Sides. It was a seaweed and mushroom infused whiskey with a few more bells and whistles and it was super unique. Quite a bit of their menu is Japanese-inspired in homage to the originators of listening bars. This includes Japanese beer, sake, and Japanese-inspired food and beverages on their menu. Very cool. The worst part of the night came when our hour and 45 minute reservation came to a close. I could've stayed there for another 3 hours and never grown tired, but with how popular this space has become, they gotta kick you out at some point. This is an experience you have to have. It's worth it. I'll be strolling back in soon enough because there is nothing like this in Austin and it's truly a special space. RIYL: Actively listening to music.

When we walked in, the hostess asked us to return to the first room because she was not at the seating area. She then told us there was no available seating, which was surprising since I had just been inside and saw multiple open seats, including two that had just been vacated. The hostess--her name sounded like Constanza--explained that the room was full because of Memorial Day weekend. When I said we didn't mind waiting since it was only midnight, she then stated they would be closing soon at 1 a.m., even though the posted closing time is 2 a.m. These explanations contradicted each other, and her tone came across as dismissive. She avoided eye contact, offered no real assistance, and ultimately suggested we check for seats ourselves, which felt unwelcoming and unprofessional. For a venue with such a strong reputation, especially on a special occasion, the interaction fell far below expectations. I hope the team can ensure more consistent and courteous service at the host stand moving forward.
