My boyfriend and I came in for happy hour without a reservation and were seated immediately. The bar had a dark, cozy, and intimate atmosphere. We ordered the Espresso Martini, Vodkadora, French 75, and Pisco Sour. All of the drinks were strong and delicious! The service was fantastic as well. I stumbled into this bar and it is the most beautiful space. The couch/ alcove seating they have is my favorite. You can sit to face the beautiful bar and watch the old movies they play. There is no sound so if they put the words on you could know what's happening but that's not the point. The vibe is curated! Their menu takes your through time and has drinks from each decade. (RIP Chuck Negron) This was my "Must go to" spot on the first day we were here...and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I made a reservation per recommendation on their website and I am glad I did. As the evening went on it got very busy. The foyer where you check in reminded me of the lobby of a small theatre. There were 2 velveteen curtains separating it from the restaurant. When the curtains parted a huge room with high industrial ceilings and architecture was revealed. WOW!!!! The hostess led us upstairs to the smaller loft bar and told us to sit where ever we wanted...So, we sat with a review to the entire place! We ordered food and drinks from their huge cocktail menu. Have visited Austin a few times, and enjoyed going to The Roosevelt Room for cocktails. It is a large, well-known cocktail bar located downtown and within walking distance of many hotels and popular nightlife spots. While you can walk in, I would recommend making a reservation, especially on busier nights. Their cocktail menu is extensive, easily over a hundred options, and thoughtfully organized by theme, spirit, and even time period. It is especially fun to see classic and historical cocktails categorized by era. There is plenty of seating, both along the bar and at tables throughout the space. The bartenders are excellent, very knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to help guide you through the menu. Across my visits, I tried several different cocktails and really enjoyed exploring some lesser-known gin drinks in particular. The Roosevelt Room is an Award-winning restaurant. It is an "experience" you will not want to miss. My friend, Te-see, did the research and made reservations, which minimized our wait time. Enter the waiting room, the hostess will check you in and open the velvet curtain so you can be escorted to your seat/table. The first floor has a long bar and high-top stools on the left-hand side and tables to the right side of the room. We had seats in the upstairs loft, which has its own bar. This area is smaller and more intimate, you'll have a full view of the main floor below. Both rooms are dimly lit with candles and chandeliers, nice leather seats, hardwood floors giving a comfortable and semi-mysterious vibe. The cocktails are to be appreciated for their quality top-shelf ingredients. The list is quite impressive, organized by era (pre- and post-Prohibition years). The drinks are named and inspired from places all over the world (Alpha order): Brazil, Canada, Cuba, London, Malaysia, Paris, Peru, Trinidad, Virgin Islands and the United States (USA separate list) USA States inspired drinks (in Alpha order): California, Milwaukee, Louisiana, New York, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia I enjoyed the "Cigar Box," cocktail which was served on a crystal ashtray. Try to make reservations in advance. I was surprised how much hassle I received for trying to walk in at 6 PM on a Saturday. All the bar seats were reserved, so we ended up at a table. It was fun watching the bartenders craft their works of art and also enjoyed the classic movie The Birds playing which added to the vintage feel! Decent service. Prices are steep as cocktails enter the $20+ range but it was a unique cocktail lounge experience nonetheless. Also ordered some bar snacks- popcorn ($6) and spiced nuts ($9)- again added to the experience but underwhelming, not unique, and not worth it for the value. For example, warming these snacks or popping the popcorn fresh would elevate these snacks but they were served cold. Additionally, there is a $1/ guest fee charged on top of exorbitant prices so they are definitely raking in the coin. I'm just not sure it was worth it. They have an expansive cocktail menu. I had an old fashioned and a Tipperary which were fine but didn't blow my socks off. Maybe I would have been more impressed with more exotic drinks. We stopped at the Roosevelt Room after deciding the vibes at Powder Room weren't for us. The ambiance was much more intimate, there was penty of seating to accomodate for couples and groups and overall, much more laid-back. Upon walking in, a huge wall filled with awards greeted us, then the hostess. She informed us that the establishment was highly decorated and recognized for its drinks. We were seated at the illuminated bar top, past the velvet curtains. Its quite dim inside - the further you are from the bar, the darker it gets since the bar is the main light source. The menu is quite massive and can get a little intimdating. However, that wasn't much of an issue as the bartender made us reccomendations based on our preferences. We got the Silver Meadows and Hemingway Daiquri. I personally didn't like the punch of sake in the Silver Meadows and found the Hemingway Daiquri to be preferable. Both lean towards the refreshing/tart flavor profile. Overall, the vibes were right: quiet and lounge-like. The service was also exceptional with knowledgable bartenders. This is the best Craft Cocktail Bar in Austin. My wife and I have visited the RR 10 times. I like the chronological menu breaking cocktails down by time periods. I've never had a bad drink there. It is not too loud. We prefer to sit at the bar to watch the bartenders work and only go there during the week. The best thing about craft cocktail bar is it allows you to try new cocktails without buying a bunch of ingredients to make one drink. I originally found this cocktail bar on the Michelin website's discovery page. This was before the guide's inspectors even came to Austin to deliver formal ratings, BTW so you know they've been well-liked for a while. I thought it would be the perfect place to go with my sister who was in town, after a nice, chill dinner in East Austin (prior Casa Bianca review). I was right because the timing worked out perfectly with reservations here at 7:30. We arrived slightly closer to 7:40 due to Austin weekend traffic but didn't need to wait more. We got a great seat at the bar (they have other options for larger groups) in front of bartender Mike. He gave my sister good recommendations and was very patient with me as I combed my way through the famed extensive menu. Lesson learned: next time I need to preview the cocktail list AND not be shy to ask for recommendations!! I got the summer limited edition "Pinche Punche" crafted by Lawrence Broussard and the "Bramble" (1984/London) from the 1950-1990 "Dark Ages" era section. My sister got the "Chrysanthemum" (1916/New York) from 1880-1919 "Turn of the Century" era and the "Jingu Bang" from the House Creations section. I loved the Pinche Punche and Jingu Bang, the other two felt much stronger for my taste preference! Another great craft cocktail bar in Austin that's been around since 2015. It's in the heart of the warehouse district and as you can imagine, extremely popular. If you're planning on visiting, you should really have reservations. Or if you're feeling lucky, you can try your shot at just showing up. Either way, it's an experience not to be missed. It's an industrial design with exposed brick walls and exposed ceilings. Booth seating, high-top & bench combo seating, counter seating with a large wooden countertop, as well as bar seating. Artwork hangs in the exposed brick walls. It's very much the industrial/warehouse setting. The food menu is just as appealing as the cocktail menu. However, I've not had much in the way of food and plan to remedy that on our next visit. I did share a grilled cheese and chocolate pretzel with my boyfriend. So good! The NA'Groni (mocktail Negroni) tastes exactly like a full-fledge Negroni. There is also an orange flower mocktail I really like. It's so pretty and tasty. Rub the Jules is a house made cocktail with Jameson Caskmates and other ingredients. It is so cool to look at and even better to drink! They've got a nice selection of house cocktails as well as the classics and a few others. Like most high-end cocktail bars, the offerings of mocktails are as elegant and tasty as any cocktail on the menu. They have happy hour daily until 6 pm that consists of 10 cocktails, and food & wine deals. Because they get so busy it sometimes shows in the service. Not in a bad way but more so that it can get hectic and you might have to wait a little longer. It has lighting and settings to keep people calm and relaxed, the bartenders are fantastic and know a ton, they are willing to talk about the drinks and the menu. The wall behind the bar has a huge menu of famous or popular drinks listed by era's which is great and very cool. From Prohibition to the dark ages. They have the title and the years, it is very cool. They have a QR code menu with other popular and standard drinks as well as their own creations and even their variations on classics. The place is nice and Shana was impressed with how clean it was and the bathrooms had signs stating to use the one that matches your chosen gender. Very cool. Shana even complimented them on that. I had their old fashioned and Shana had a Jingu Bang, of which I have a few pictures of, both were very good. They even have the ice cube RR branded. A fun touch. They mix the drinks right there and have a very nice set up with each station having everything you need to make the cocktails right there. It was interesting to see them work. The place is dimly lit and gives off Prohibition-era vibes, but makes it hard to see -- especially if you're trying to take photos or videos without using flash. Service was great. Our server shared some interesting background about the bar, which added a nice touch to the experience. There is a $1 per person charge for staff benefits though. Their menu is probably the biggest drink menu I've ever seen, and the presentation is impressive. However, when it comes down to taste, the cocktails just didn't live up to the hype and at these prices, it's hard to justify. Zombie ($32): Served in a skull with flaming cinnamon powder -- very theatrical -- which was cool for a second, but then our friends noticed the powder got all over their side of the table and even on their phones. The cocktail tasted good, but nothing special. It's lighter than the Blue Blazer and not very spirit-forward. The ice also melts quickly, so drink it fast or it'll just taste watered down. Blue Blazer ($32): Your choice of spirit with ginger snap syrup, hot water, bitters, lemon peel, and nutmeg. Honestly, it tasted like straight alcohol and medicine. Wouldn't recommend unless you're just trying to get hammered. A couple friends and I dropped by The Roosevelt Room for their 10 year anniversary this past Sunday after a movie screening at The Paramount. We didn't have a reservation but they let us walk in and find a spot at the bar on either side of the place. We chose to stand at the bar in the Roosevelt Room itself. Adrian, Jeanette, and Lawrence were our bartenders and they were awesome! We loved their energy. They were offering $10 cocktail choices for their anniversary celebration. I ordered the Perfect Ten. Yum! One friend and I ordered the chicken liver mouse. Another ordered the grilled cheese sandwich. My friends ordered other cocktails they enjoyed. Had a great experience here for a bachelorette party. Servers were kind and the place had a nice vibe - dimly lit and cool decor. The drink menu was massive and organized by decade which was cool. I had some mocktails which were delicious and complex - the marigold was bright and orangey and creamy and the castaway was refreshing with coconut and cucumber. Prices seemed about right for a downtown establishment that's highly rated. read more

Their classic cocktails, like the Vieux Carré and Tipperary, were excellent and worth the price. However, I was disappointed with their specialty cocktails--both of mine were mostly ice, which was a letdown given the high price point. Everything here was good. Service was on par and very consistent. Very knowledgeable staff. Lots of room and still gave you that personal intimate feeling. Came here for a nightcap after the graduation dinner. Fortunately, even around 10:30 or so, we were able to get seating at the bar. Such a fancy, speakeasy type of vibe. You feel like you're back in the 1920s. Everything looks so elegant. There are old classic movies on the TV. Just feels elegant. The perfect aura for cocktails. We ordered two cocktails: the poet's muse and the silver meadows. The longtime classics. Both were impeccable in terms of taste and presentation. Such absolute care was taken in crafting these cocktails. There are so many different varieties of cocktails that one would have to come here every week just to try something new. I absolutely love this place. It is always a hit for date night or when taking a group of friends. They have live music every day of the week, all seven days, and it truly feels like a real speakeasy with excellent, unique cocktails. The atmosphere is moody in the best way with dim, ambient lighting. The space is compact, so you will likely be a little squished, and it fills up quickly. It is best to get a table if you can. I recommend going earlier around 7 or 8 pm to grab a seat. That is the perfect time to have a drink, chat, and then enjoy the live band when they start playing around 9 or 10 pm. It makes for such a fun evening that feels both low key and lively at the same time. The staff is surprisingly attentive considering how crowded it gets. They regularly check on you and make sure you are taken care of, even offering second or third drinks without you having to hunt them down. There is a cover charge to get in, but it goes toward your tab, so it is not a big deal. Just be aware that there can sometimes be a wait to enter, especially during peak hours around 10 or 11 pm. read more
