    "Dark Ages" era - "vesper"
    Tracy M.

Just wow... ok no one wants to hear, "Taylor Swift" but... this bar has the Eras vibe. I came back to edit as I don't want my TS comment to deter you from this excellent place! there are so many cocktails "by the era" starting from the prohibition era (1920-1933) to post volstead (1933-1950s) to Tiki (1930-1970) and Dark Ages (1950-1990) to modern classics (2000+) not to mention, RR classic creations, award winning cocktails such as the poets muse (which I ordered) - the vibe is exquisite. This place is a MUST go to if in DT Austin. Forget six street shenanigans, go for classic. I'm so glad I decided to stop in. Definitely worth it! Adding a secondary cocktail from the "dark ages"

I order the chrysanthemum drink. It looks incredible but tastes so bad. They took it back with no issue and I just got a French 75 after. It was great.

A friend mentioned she was having dinner at The Roosevelt Room, and I realized I had never been, so I added it to my Austin dining bucket list. After attending a murder mystery event next door, I stopped in for a bite to eat. The Roosevelt Room is a whole vide...the quintessential romantic location. While the bar is best known for its expertly crafted cocktails, I enjoyed watching the bartenders at work and decided to save the cocktails for my next visit (root canal recovery in progress). The atmosphere blends speakeasy charm with modern elegance, featuring dim lighting and smooth sultry music in the background. It appears to be an ideal spot for a romantic date night, catching up with friends, or unwinding after a long day of work. I will definitely be back to sample their signature cocktails on a date night with the hubs.

"No I've never been to Austin, but I kinda like the music...all the people say it's crazy but I know they don't abuse it..." (RIP Chuck Negron) This was my "Must go to" spot on the first day we were here...and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I made a reservation per recommendation on their website and I am glad I did. As the evening went on it got very busy. The foyer where you check in reminded me of the lobby of a small theatre. There were 2 velveteen curtains separating it from the restaurant. When the curtains parted a huge room with high industrial ceilings and architecture was revealed. WOW!!!! The hostess led us upstairs to the smaller loft bar and told us to sit where ever we wanted...So, we sat with a review to the entire place! We ordered food and drinks from their huge cocktail menu. We watched the bartender make both drinks with fascination. *BTW The bartenders here need to know how to make every cocktail by heart and there are over 50 specialty cocktails! Rosie and I went with: Vodkadora - Wódka Vodka, raspberry syrup, ginger syrup, lime, soda water Cigar Box - Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, smoked black tea syrup, RR lavender bitters, tobacco essence, served on an ashtray with a flamed cinnamon stick Food: CLASSIC REUBEN w/chips - 5/5 sooo good (Rye bread with Rosemary-Garlic Butter, Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese, housemade Sauerkraut & Russian Dressing) SALADE VERTE 5/5 - light and fresh Loved the industrial space and decor. Great for large groups - don't really recommend for children ~ and that's all I have to say about that...

I stumbled into this bar and it is the most beautiful space. The couch/ alcove seating they have is my favorite. You can sit to face the beautiful bar and watch the old movies they play. There is no sound so if they put the words on you could know what's happening but that's not the point. The vibe is curated! Their menu takes your through time and has drinks from each decade. It's such fun experience to drink through different eras.

The ambience is dark and swanky, great for those who want to sit and have a drink in a moody vibe. Our drinks were all pretty good. Our service was tough, as they were very short staffed (1 server for the entire place) ... so it took awhile for orders, etc. Host and server were super stressed and it showed. I'm sure the experience would have been great if they were better staffed.

More of a 3.5 but gave it a 4 because the cocktails were phenomenal! Very cute spot and the craft cocktails were so good! I had an Apple of my Pie annnnnnd some drink the recommended that was super unique. However, every single person who we encountered who worked there seemed like zombies. It was a huge mood/vibe killer my lord. I even said thank you to one who let me pass to the restaurant and she wouldn't even look at me we had two rounds and left.

Hit up The Roosevelt Room and WOW - the drinks are next level . Each cocktail is photogenic and crafted so well. The vibe is chic yet chill. Only hiccup was the slow service once it got busy, but honestly, the quality of the drinks will have me coming back. Definitely a must-visit for any cocktail lover in Austin!

Great cocktail bar!! I went with some friends for a birthday reservation and had a great time We tried a couple of options - the gin sour / too little too late / Saturn / couple other things I loved the Saturn - my absolute favorite - gin and passionfruit flavor - so good!! Service was pretty good considering we ordered two rounds and were a pretty large party Very dark and moody inside - HUGE cocktail list - they have something for everyone! They even had cleopatra playing on the screen

Have visited Austin a few times, and enjoyed going to The Roosevelt Room for cocktails. It is a large, well-known cocktail bar located downtown and within walking distance of many hotels and popular nightlife spots. While you can walk in, I would recommend making a reservation, especially on busier nights. Their cocktail menu is extensive, easily over a hundred options, and thoughtfully organized by theme, spirit, and even time period. It is especially fun to see classic and historical cocktails categorized by era. There is plenty of seating, both along the bar and at tables throughout the space. The bartenders are excellent, very knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to help guide you through the menu. Across my visits, I tried several different cocktails and really enjoyed exploring some lesser-known gin drinks in particular. Highly recommend stopping here for a drink before or after dinner if you are visiting Austin.

I stopped by when the main Roosevelt Room had an event and their next door Christmas bar was open. My review is for the Christmas bar. What a fun spot! They decked this out in Christmas decorations even throughout the bathroom. You have plenty of photo ops but when you're done with that. Grab your drink! Between the fun glasses and the great variety in holiday drinks, you can't go wrong. The bartenders are excellent and will make a great drink off menu for you too! Must visit!

    Lisa N.

One of Austin's top cocktail bars! The menu is creative and distinctive, with each drink thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented. I've never had a cocktail here that I disliked, and I especially appreciate that their drinks are always well-balanced and never overly sweet. It's definitely worth adding to your itinerary if you're planning a night of bar hopping around downtown Austin.

Ask the Community - The Roosevelt Room

Hello! I know this is an upscale place, but I am wondering kind of what the price range is on drinks?

Regular menu you're going to be around $18-$24 but they do have some specialty whiskey cocktail drinks as high as around $40

What's a good time for happy hour?

    Everyday 3-6PM

Do they do 1.5 ounce or 2 ounce pours for whiskey?

What kind of music do they play?

Oh, it's different every time. Last time I was there it was jazz music which fit the ambiance well. It was a great accent!

Is there still HH on Saturdays? What are the food options like?

Hi Chelsea, Thanks so much for reaching out. Yes, we host Happy Hour from 4pm-7pm on Saturdays.…

Does this pub show, Fox Sports Live for the Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury Heavyweight Boxing fight?

It does not. It is a cocktail bar.

Do you need reservations or can you just walk in?

It's best to have a reservation but you can ask the door person to put your name on the list.

What is the clothing vibe like? All kinds? Or mainly cocktail? (Introvert that likes to plan)

Definitely not a cocktail vibe. But dressing a little bit nicer would help you feel a little more integrated.

Is there a cigar room? Do they offer cigars?

You can't smoke inside in Austin.

Is there still Jazz on Thursday's?

    Yes

    Is there a cover?

    No cover

Is there live music on Friday and Saturday nights?

Is there live jazz every night?

Hey Amanda, thanks so much for reaching out! At the moment, we only have live jazz on Thursday nights from 9:30pm-12:30am. Cheers!

Can you bring your own cigars?

Hello Ava, unfortunately since we are a fully indoor venue we do not allow for smoking inside. We look forward to hooting you sometime soon though!…

They had no issues when taking our second round order while we were seated, but we were asked to leave the table immediately after. This round also took forever and we drank it standing, crowded, in everyone's way. I was embarrassed as it was my birthday, and I was taking a group of 7 other people - new to Austin - here to check out what was one of my favorite spots. I was bragging about it and chose it over other spots on their list. They hated it. I'm disappointed. Our server was great to us and apologetic about the service bar.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
