In search of a bar that wasn't packed on a Friday night, we were lucky to stumble across Marlow. The atmosphere is dark and cozy. There's enough of a vibe for this place to feel lively even when it's mostly empty, yet it also avoids the earsplitting noise that may come with a more crowded venue. The bartenders are amicable, and the menu showcases some creative - and creatively named - cocktails. Lara went with a Moon Song (rum, blackberry, lime, and honey with lavender cold foam) and an espresso martini and enjoyed both. I opted for a zero proof drink: the high and mighty (agave, nonalcoholic ginger and floral liqueurs, jasmine tea, and spiced salt). It was refreshing but didn't quite hit the mark for me. What should have been complex and balanced came across as overly floral. All told, Marlow is worth a visit even if it is unlikely to wow you. read more

My friends and I loooved this bar in Austin! The drinks were unique, well-curated, and delicious. My friends got drinks with corn foam and lavender foam, which we enjoyed immensely. The vibes were great, it wasn't too loud inside but still very lively. This is the exact type of cocktail bar I love, and I would definitely be back! read more

I discovered Marlow through a Yelp Elite event and knew I had to come back. We stopped by on a Saturday night around 9:30/10pm and had a great time! Great house music from the DJ, friendly staff, and an easygoing atmosphere that's perfect for hanging out. I was having a sober night and tried a few drinks from their Dry January Specials menu. Wow, they did not disappoint. The Alrighty Aphrodite was delicious, and the So Fresh, So Clean was exactly that, super refreshing with a great pineapple flavor. My husband had the Dusty Trail (strong and perfect for bourbon lovers) and a Coquito that was creamy and smooth with a hint of cinnamon. Parking is limited, but we found street parking nearby. Overall, great drinks, great music, and a spot I'll definitely keep coming back to. read more

Vibe is dark and trendy. Came on a Wednesday night at around 9pm and they had a DJ playing house music haha. Felt kind of weird as it wasn't that busy, but it felt like it was going to be in an hour or so. I have to admit the bar felt like a great place to bring a group of friends for cocktails prior to partying. Definitely a good selection of drinks. Had their version of an Old Fashioned and it was pretty good. However, I waited a bit for a bartender to show up as no one was behind the bar. read more

I had yet another great opportunity to spend time at Marlow Bar last week. This time for a EuroCircle Ukraine awareness event. The cocktails were amazing (again) and love the layout of the bar for visiting and walking around. I didn't order any food this time from the food truck but a friend let me steal some fries and a chicken wing from her order. There are such great craft cocktails to choose from and my friends and I enjoyed all the different ones we had. I'm sure I'll be back here again for another fab event! read more

Marlow's has a very Austin vibe. I grew up in Austin and just moved back. Austin has changed a lot so I was happy to visit a place like Marlow that's dedicated to keeping the Austin vibe alive. The owner is also an Austinite! Marlow's has a really in interesting and delicious drink menu. I tried both mocktails (option to add THC) and really enjoyed them both. Most mocktails with NA liquor have honestly tasted a bit weird and a bit off. I usually have one and call it a day. However, I really enjoyed the first one that I tried the second one, which I also liked. The bartenders work amazingly fast and take multiple drink orders at a time and don't miss a beat! There's street parking and during weekdays, it's free to park after a certain hour. read more

Happy holidays! Marlow was decorated with so much holiday cheer in its new Merry Merry Marlow popup version for the month of December. They got it just perfect with that home living room cozy feel. The only thing that's sadly missing is a fake fireplace. It hadn't realized that Marlow appears to be a vinyl only dj spot, which I noticed when I saw the dj booth with turntables. That really gives it an extra old school and home feeling i'm sure. The bartenders are skilled and fast with their craft cocktails, including a new special holiday drink menu. Out back Golden Tiger food truck was serving sliders and I chose to go with the beef since I've been a long time customer of their chicken and wanted to try something different. Sadly I'll probably never get the burger again. I didn't love it which is disappointing considering how great the chicken is. read more

My friend and I were lured in by a sign touting a late night happy hour. Since it didn't specify particular days, we assumed it was an every day special. To our surprise, the day we came in was actually a day where they close early - and the drink we thought would be $8 ended up being more than $15. Compared to other establishments on 6th street, marlow definitely feels more sophisticated and serious. However, the drinks we had were not. Probably one of the worst cocktails I've had in my life. The vibe was vibey but I don't think I'd go back (esp if it's not during happy hour). As far as service goes, when we went there were only 2 other parties around but the server took a while to address us. I don't recall her being particularly friendly but she also wasn't rude, either. read more

I started my night in Red River Cultural District at Marlow. By the time I walked in around 6:15pm it was already lively. They appeared to have another event prior to their first Hot Summer Nights musical act, a DJ who spun Afrobeats. He was great, and I met a nice group of girls when I sat in the front corner booth alone. I ordered a non-alcoholic drink as well as a smaller alcoholic drink (my favorite green tea shot). Both were refreshing and enjoyable! The bathroom was really nice, and they have a smash burger food truck on site. I wasn't in the mood for a burger so did not get to try it. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Marlow. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I love the holiday decor they put inside. They also had live music so I was serenaded by the smooth sounds of the piano as I enjoyed my drinks. The cocktails were phenomenal and the service from the bartenders were great. First I have to confess that I didn't try any of their cocktails that seem overpriced at an average of about $15, but maybe that's the going rate these days? And I'm sad they don't serve food yet at least, but the bartender was friendly and said it's no problem to bring in food from one of the nearby places. However, I did explore the space and loved the building and the interior design. There's so much comfortable seating! And such great textures and an attractive color palette. There are corduroy couches, velvet or leather chairs, attractive light fixtures, warm wood paneling. Really, the whole place feels like a sort of 1980 era relaxed but sophisticated Austin home, much like what I remember visiting all through that decade around town. Like a sun room with terra cotta tiles and cactus and exposed brick, and plenty of light from three sides of the building sporting big picture windows during the day, it has kind of a nostalgic, comfortable feel. It's conveniently located in its own charming brick building across the street from the erstwhile Easy Tiger on 6th, just a couple blocks from I-35, overlooking the creek with a small balcony that should be very nice out when the weather's nice. There's even some meter parking right out front, but I'm sure that fills up quickly. I also enjoyed how quiet it was on a Sunday afternoon, although I assume it will get busy other times, especially as more people discover it. Everything about this place was fantastic except for the bartender with the blue hair. She came across as very demeaning and rude whenever my girlfriend and I ordered a drink. For instance, when I asked if they had Vida Mezcal, her response was, "No, because that mezcal sucks," followed by a stare, without even offering an alternative option. Seriously? The bar etiquette was just awful. While the drinks themselves weren't bad, I've never encountered a bartender with such a piss poor attitude. This happened every time we ordered a drink, and there were hardly any other customers in the bar. Her demeanor made us feel like she was annoyed whenever she had to make a drink because her friend was sitting at the bar, and she didn't want us to interrupt. read more
