Snagged a same day reservation as this has been on my list for a minute. Reservation for 7:30, upon arrival use the buzzer and they come up to meet you. Was sat at the second table inside which I will say the seating set up is a bit funky. The chairs we were in were high back and decorative, comfortable for sure. The booths look like they'd be cozy too. Only two seats at the bar and I'd recommend them as you get to see the action. They did stick to the allotted timeframe due to back to back reservations so....one drink later the bill arrived. Service was nothing of note. The other person in my party was running late and it took 10 min for someone to ask if I wanted to start without them after being sat. Of course I would! Time waits for no one. I got the Venetian spritz and it was strong...needed to wait for the ice to help dilute it and then it was tasty. Noted for next time as there were a couple other drinks that looked good. The menu has food options from Buenos Aries upstairs and while I don't order food, the empanadas are amazing so you def should try. Overall nice experience and I'd go back to try other drinks and enjoy the vibe. Music was lounge ish with a mixture of languages. read more

Situated right below Buenos Aires cafe, this bar brings sexy vibes, with swanky decor, a dim lit room, and excellent tunes. It's a small space with limited seating - and I would recommend reservations. On to their cocktail menu - EXCELLENCE! Decided to improvise a date night on a Saturday and came across Milonga Room. I have always been a big fan of the food and cocktails at Buenos Aires Cafe, so it felt like a good choice. Molina room is the perfect last stop on date night. A tiny speakeasy located under Buenos Aires, it's dark and sexy, and the drinks are unique and delectable. I cannot remember the names of what we had, but I won't forget the decadent smoke cascading from my drink infusing it to perfection. One of the bartenders even stopped by our table to see how we enjoyed the drinks which I appreciated. There was one server who seemed a bit aloof, but I suppose maybe she was having an off night. Truly some of the best cocktails we've had in town! We are not huge gin drinkers either but I got the Francesca cocktail and my fiancée got the milonga daiquiri. The Francesca was a lavender and elderflower gin cocktail with an egg and whipped cream top and it was truly delicious - I could have 5 of them!! Truly a girls dream cocktail if you're looking for something floral and sweet. The milonga daiquiri was so smooth and a great option for those looking for something a little stronger. The inside is a bit on the smaller end (maybe 6/7 tables and 3/4 seats at the bar) and they do make reservations too in case you want to be sure to snag a seat! We walked in on a Thursday night around 8 pm and were able to get seated but soon after, it was almost completely full. Won't lie the cocktails are on the higher end, expect to spend around $18 a drink or more but we left happy and satisfied with our choices and drinks. Went here on a whim last night as was at a charity event in the nearby area. It's a speakeasy, so if you're really wanting to make sure you get in, you should make a reservation. While they can accommodate for walk-ins, it's probably best to have a reservation. It's an extremely small and intimate space. The decor is stunning and upscale. This is one of my favorite speakeasies in Austin. It's a really cosy, cute, intimate spot - perfect for a date. My favorites were the Velvet Underground and the Brujeria (it looked fun so we wanted to try - thought it would just be gimmicky with the fire, but it had excellent sweet and almost savory flavor as well). They are about to release a new cocktail menu, we previewed one of the drinks (a gin sour French 75 inspired drink). It was pretty smooth and lemony as well. Vibey speakeasy spot behind Buenos Aires Cafe-- walked by on a Friday evening as walk-ins, and they were able to get us seated around 10:00 pm due to cancelled reservations. Not much seating overall, so would recommend getting a reservation in advance if you can. Drinks were awesome; my fave was the Velvet Underground, which had egg whites and a hint of banana. Unfortunately, the kitchen had closed, so we didn't get to try any of the food. My only gripe was with the service-- when I asked for recommendations, the server was not very helpful/ said there were no sweeter cocktails on the menu, though the one I ordered definitely was. You have to go around to the parking lot in the back of Buenos Aires and find the door with a doorbell, then ring it and wait to be invited in. It was so cozy and the room was very small and intimate. The cocktail selections were so unique and I definitely want to go back and try the 3 or 4 specialty cocktail samplers we saw someone order! OMG I love love, love the speakeasy. I have been dying to go to here and finally my friend got reservations because every time I want to go during the weekend there is never a spot. The people that work in there are so nice, and they are so much fun and know exactly what to recommend and how to explain the flavors of the cocktails. I was between a 4 and 5 for this spot, but would probably give it a 4.5! This is one of the few speakeasies in Austin that's a TRUE speakeasy. Located behind Buenos Aires Cafe, there is no sign to indicate that this is Milonga Room. The only way to know about it is if you make a reservation and receive instructions on where to find it or word of mouth. When we found it, we rang a doorbell and someone came outside to find our reservation and seat us. Once we went inside, there was a red curtain covering the speakeasy bar, and inside was the cutest, most intimate bar. The seating is super limited (maybe 15 people max!) so I would definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand. Here are the drinks we ordered: Velvet Underground - my favorite! If you love drinks with egg whites, I highly recommend this one. Brujeria - so delicious and refreshing! Iguazu Falls - reminded me of being on a tropical beach, so yummy! Vanity Project - probably my least favorite, tasted a bit like cough syrup to me but that could just be my taste buds. We also ordered empanadas and fries, which came from Buenos Aires Cafe upstairs. No overview of what the speakeasy is about or what they specialize in, no welcome or introduction whatsoever. The bartender just had zero interaction with us. Sat down next to us to take our order, didn't say a word, and wanted us to order. When we asked what cocktails they recommended they couldn't recommend any of them because their pallet was so "refined" They don't drink/like any of the cocktails on the menu because their pallet doesn't agree with any of them.... Idk if it's frowned upon to like cocktails at this speakeasy instead of the liquor they offer? (Which we also tried a flight of). The decorations were cool, cocktails were good, but not cool or good enough to outweigh the bad attitude of the bartender. I'd recommend Midnight Cowboy. We sat there like idiots with empty drinks while the visibly drunk bartender and his colleague took shots with what I can only assume are friends of theirs at the bar. At one point I just got up and handed him my credit card, where he gave me attitude for not yelling for his attention. I'm sorry but it's not my job to make sure you take my order. Oh and please tell him to stop drunkenly asking for everyone's Instagram, it's weird and creepy. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed there was a 20% gratuity added to the check no one told us about. We were super disappointed and had an awful experience here last night. Despite being a slow night with only a few tables, the hostess/waitress ignored us. It was like pulling teeth to get service for a few empanadas and drinks. At one point I made eye contact with her, she yawned at the bar, then walked right past our table without checking in. Drinks were overpriced and the bartender refused to accommodate putting one drink over ice. We were given 1 fork, zero napkins, and no water even though there were 2 of us. Worst of all, when we finally got the check (from the bartender as our waitress went MIA), they tacked on a mandatory 20% gratuity charge. I have never seem this except for large parties. We questioned the bartender about this and he got extremely rude and combative and told us they are sorry we're disappointed and if they lose our future business oh well. Really? He then showed us where it stated this on the menu, in tiny print on the bottom. Then he said they did that so people wouldn't "stiff them" and also said he didn't care if we contacted the owners to complain as "they are the ones who implemented this policy". No wonder the service here is so bad- they don't care as the know they are getting a 20% tip regardless. This practice is unethical and we will be contesting the charge with our credit card as service was not rendered. I will never come back to this place. Terrible vibe, rude/neglectful service, and overpriced. Too many other great places in Austin that don't treat patrons with this much disrespect. read more

This is by far my favorite speakeasy in the city. Hidden at the bottom of Buenos Aires, the room holds about 25 people. The decor is VERY 1920s, and you can order a large number (maybe even all!) of the food items from the main restaurant. The parking lot is crazy tiny, so ride share your way here. If you are looking for an expansive drink menu, you will probably want to keep moving. If you like a unique red wine or cocktail, are craving the best empanadas in town, and want a cool atmosphere, you really won't find better. pro tips: They have belly dancing and tarot card reading on some nights, so call before booking (to make sure you grab the atmosphere you are looking for...I love the special events, but sometimes it's nice to go with people and just enjoy the atmosphere sans special treats).
