In Plain Sight is the sister bar of Here Nor There (IYKYK). That alone is reason enough to visit. They recently expanded their business hours and are now open daily. The bar is very tiny (maybe 10 seats at the bar, 4 window seats, and approximately 6 or so seats on the patio). They are walk in only. The lighting is super cool. The color hues subtly change which gives the space a cool ambiance. I happened to be out on a Monday night and decided to stop by for a night cap. When I walked in, I was the only patron. Chad was behind the bar and he was extremely nice and very personable. I started with the Green Reviver #2. It was a melon twist on the classic Corpse Reviver #2 and it was good! I really enjoyed the chive oil. I followed with the House Negroni. This was hands down the best Negroni that I've ever had. The strawberry twist on it elevated it! I finished with a mocktail. I told Chad to surprise me and he made an NA version of the Yellow Margarita. I enjoyed this and it was refreshing! I mentioned to Chad that I like clarified cocktails so he made me a sample of the Clarified Piña Colada. It was really good! The melon and lemongrass gave it an interesting flavor. I was fortunate enough to return a few weeks later. Freya was working behind the bar and he was just as nice and personable as Chad. I tried the Blue Clover Club. I loved the flavors and presentation of this drink! The raspberry lemon foam was so good and added a nice texture! I also had a House Negroni because I enjoyed it so much the first time. I've only visited twice, but In Plain Sight is definitely one of my favorite cocktail bars in Austin. I'm looking forward to returning so that I can try more of their interesting and unique cocktails!
Super cute small bar - probably 8/10 seats max?? It can get filled up pretty quickly and no reservations so arrive early ish to get a spot! I tried the Clarified margarita / very spirit forward but a lil smoky and fruity with the kiwi My husband tried the blue clover club - topped w a raspberry foam - so good! The interior is so fun - super colorful but def a small spot! Street parking is best option!
This bar is fun! I've known about it a long time but just never made the effort to get to it until recently. I'd heard it's small, that is accurate - it is literally like 10 chairs lining the bar, and that's it. No tables. The bartender (Angela) was super sweet and helpful when I came by which was like a Thurs right at opening around 5p. She gave me a rec for the A La Vista cocktail being more floral, which it was! Really enjoyed it. It's a bit pricey but you're paying for ambiance too - the place is right on the corner of a busy intersection and has fun rainbow lights inside. True to speakeasy form, it's very not exciting from outside, there's not even an entrance sign, it's just a white door on that corner. Overall - it's a great little date spot vibe if that's what you're looking for. Angela was awesome, and the intimate vibe of the place makes it unique compared to other spots! They change out their menu so lots to try as well. :)
We popped in here after a show at the Paramount theater and were so glad we did. Lucky enough to snag the last few seats, we were warmly greeted by the female bartender. I'm kicking myself for not remembering her name, but fun blonde that made amazing cocktails. She introduced us to Chad the other bartender who was quite fun and gave excellent recommendations. While small, it was such a fun vibe and everyone's just enjoying the drinks and the company. My favorite was the Blue Cobbler and then a speciality type dessert drink the bartender made us that wasn't on the menu - she is super talented at what she does and made us the best dessert drink after asking just a few questions about our particular tastes. Definitely a must try!!
Such a cute spot! I came here while waiting for friends on a Saturday night. First off this place is tiny so be prepared to stand. The bar only sits 8 and I think there's standing room for another 6-8 but snug. From the outside looking in the window goes back and forth from you being able to see in to opaque. It was fun to watch from across the street. There was a steady crowd and a group waiting but one of the joys of being alone is I was able to get in immediately. Colorful ceiling and drinks that match. Mixologist was friendly and would explain the menu to you. This is a great spot to stop by in your night.
A small space with perfectly crafted cocktails. In Plain Sight is the brighter little sister of Here Nor There. I arrived shortly after they opened and was able to easily snag a spot within. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and accommodating when I realized my drink was a bit spicy for my taste. I'll absolutely be a returning customer! Fun fact: the windows are trippy when you look towards the street!
Sleek. Chic. Upscale. Cozy. That is what immediately comes to mind when I think of In Plain Sight as you walk through their doors. A sister bar to Here Nor There, this is the cool cousin who you wished talked to you at the holiday get-togethers but you can't help but want to hang out with. Surprising enough, once you're here at the bar you soon realize just how laid back this place is. Your shoulders drop and you feel like you're at your friends. The drink menu is sophisticated but easy to ingest. No need for a reservation but you have to find an open seat. That is the biggest caveat. Loved my drinks and the ice pieces they use are so freaking cool with a rose built into the ice cube. You absolutely must make it a point to grab a drink here.
This spot is the perfect place to stop by for a quick drink if you're a fan of HNT but didn't make reservations ahead of time. The prices are even *slightly* more affordable than HNT with the same quality of drinks. Although the space is tiny, they manage to fit a good amount of people (around 20) while still making you feel comfortable. I usually grab a standing spot by the window, but also love sitting at the bar to watch all the cocktails being made. The staff is always friendly and clearly passionate about their craft. They will walk you through the menu and guide you toward drinks that you may enjoy. If you ask nicely, they will even make something off the menu! My go-to drink is the Dublin Drop, highly recommend it if you like scotch. But I've tried many of the drinks on the menu and have not been disappointed.
Stopped by on a Friday night and was able to grab 3 spots by the window. In Plain Sight is a very small cocktail bar with first come, first serve flow! There are about 8 seats at the bar and they try to squeeze 6 more behind them. If it looks packed, I recommend checking again in 10-15 minutes. The bar focuses on spritzers and aperitifs, so it's perfect for a pre-dinner drink. I really enjoyed the Kahlo Americano and Southern Pearl. My friend ordered Open Sesame, and it was a strange combination. I recommend trying the other fruity drinks. Overall the staff is super friendly and willing to find the right drink for you!
Super small and intimate bar with great drinks. I expected nothing less since it's a sister bar to Here Nor There! However this is more of a come & go experience or a spot for pre-drinks Cocktails were great, not super complex but with thoughtful combinations of flavors. We ordered the Southern Pearl (gin, tea blend, egg white) and Caribbean Dream (rum, cognac, coconut). Our bartender was friendly and we really enjoyed our time!

I love Here Nor There so I had to check out their sister bar- In Plain Sight. Gustavo was the bartender and he was so kind, made great drinks and had an amazing playlist. The place is small, only fits about 16 and is operated on a first-come, first-served basis. Very intimate spot and would be great for pre or post dinner drinks. I'm a rum fan so I had the Caribbean Dream and the Poppy Lou Paloma. The Caribbean Dream was okay but the Poppy Lou Paloma was killer. It was one of the first drinks that Gustavo recommended and I can certainly see why. Will definitely be returning!
IPS is my go to place for cocktails. If you are in Austin, you can have the perfect evening by starting here go to Here Nor There for round 2. The owners and staff are top notch here with each employee being trained to not only make items on the menu but also make some delicious drinks off the menu. Take a date here or go out with friends... you can't go wrong with the great drinks and the fun lights that add to the ambiance. You have to try the Poppy Lou Paloma, A La Vista, and finish off with the Dublin Drop. This is the trifecta combo and will give you a great evening. This place has continued to exceed expectations. If you are into speakeasies at all, you have to come to this place. Don't worry, there are no reservations.
O M G! I usually avoid DT Austin but In Plain Sight will be the reason I venture back! I generally drink wine and champagne but I found a new love for craft cocktails again. They were so delicious and unique. We had several of them and were perfectly balanced. This place is incredibly small. We got there at 5pm when it opened and luckily were the only ones there so we got our awesome Irish bartenders full attention. It was awesome watching him create each of our drinks. We even had him create some off menu drinks that we A++++!! Not sure when I'll be back in DT ATX (even though I live here) but this place will be my 1st stop! read more

This has to be the tiniest bar in Austin. When we popped in on a Saturday night, there was only standing room left inside. Luckily, we were able to grab a seat outside. The ambiance isn't the best outside, but it beat standing. They've got a unique selection of drinks. I tried the open sesame and melon americano. I liked both, but I loved the strong cantaloupe flavor of the melon americano a bit more. I'd check this place out if you're a fan of cocktail bars and want to check out a more unique place. read more

Rad little spot right around the corner from one of my other Austin faves. It gets crowded and is pretty loud thanks to the good music and positive energy. The staff is friendly and the drinks very good. Orders came out fast even though all the seats and standing spaces were filled. Caribbean Dream and Open Sesame were both ok. But the Kahlo Americano and Dublin Drop were FANTASTIC- would order both again. Recommend and will return. read more

I was quite unsure if I was in the right place. In spite of it's name, the location is not the most obvious from the street. However, the bartenders were incredibly welcoming, warm, and quickly assured me that I was in the right place. I had the best time at In Plain Sight, but I know it won't be for everyone. It's a very social environment! Everyone was chatting with everyone, so if that's not your vibe, avoid. I personally loved the banter I had with the bartenders and getting recommendations from the other customers. It's a tiny establishment with 8-10 barstools stacked next to each other. The drink menu is intricate and inspired by cocktails from countries around the world. I had a very unique and light cocktail that I throughly enjoyed. In Plain Sight is reminiscent of many of my favorite pubs in Europe and Africa. It gave me the same happy feeling I get when I'm traveling the world, but I still feel at home. I'll definitely be back! read more

A must visit intimate speakeasy experience in Austin, opened newly by the same owners of Here Nor There. Loved the small space, attention to detail and craft cocktails. The bartenders have: vision, style, execution. Favorite drink: Poppy Lou Paloma - has spice, smooth taste and pop of smoky mezcal. I will be coming back for this incredible concoction!! It's a walk in only, no reservations. About $16 per drink which is very reasonable for their craft, service and ambience. Park in the street or in the next door lot for $12. read more
An absolute gem hidden in plain sight. A tiny corner with frosted windows, easy to overlook. Inside are some of the best cocktails you can imagine. The bartenders are masters at their craft while also being so welcoming. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The drinks are flavorful, creative and strong. They are no joke. Off menu, the bartenders are more than capable of creating any of the classics guaranteed to be delicious. No waitlist or reservations and the place fills quickly so go early or have a backup in mind if it's full. read more

I loved this place! It was my first time, and the vibes were incredible. The intimate setting, thanks to the limited space, made it feel even more special. The color palette drinks were amazing--each one really tasted like the color it represented! It fills up quickly, and they don't take reservations (at least I haven't found a way to), so plan ahead. 10/10, I'll definitely be back! read more
This is the Austin vibe I have heard so much about. Tucked away in plain sight is the small bar that looks like a scientific lab where the bar staff are creating perfect elixirs. While the bartenders do not have white lab coats, their creations are unique. I had the Dublin Drop which is a take on an Old Fashion. Wow it went down easy. This is the trendiest of bars and a good way to start or finish your night. read more

Absolutely loved this place! I love Here Nor There so I wanted to visit In Plain Sight and I was not disappointed. logistics: We came on a Thursday around 5:30 pm since I knew the place was small and there's no reservations. We did street parking and walked over. It's located across the street from Small Victory. Experience: There was one pair at the bar plus us so we were able to chat with the bartender, Gustavo. He was great! Gustavo gave us his recommendations for cocktails and other austin bars. The Dublin Drop was so nice, we ordered it twice. It's spirit forward, but not super strong. read more

This cocktail bar was highly recommended to us by a few people. It's located centrally downtown and had a decent selection of cocktails. It is an extremely intimate space. There is only sitting room for about 4-6 people and standing room for maybe 10 people at most. Extremely small and could get quite crowded. It's certainly unique and not really my vibe, but can understand why some might enjoy it. read more
Visited from Chicago and I think these are the best cocktails I've ever had. My friend and I tried 8 of the 12 cocktails on the menu - all of them hit. The service was great. The atmosphere was cozy and had perfect lighting, and then they switched it to red later on for a different vibe. I have never gone to a bar where every single drink felt like the best thing i've ever tasted + have the service be amazing + good ambiance. This is a cute and tinyyyyy bar on the corner of Brazos St. & 7th St. It probably sits 10-15 people max. It truly is tiny, but a great spot. It's owned by the same people who own Here Nor There. The setting is cool with a "color" of the night. See attached pic. But they change the color of the lights each day which means the bar will look different inside. When we were there it was blue. The two bartenders working were very nice and prompt to help us as we walked in. It is a very tight spot but worth a stop in. We each had two cocktails and they were delish. I would say their prices as well as Here Nor There's are probably $1-3 more dollars than I would like to pay, but I'll definitely be going back. read more

Came here one night when they were close to closing so I didn't get to try it out so when I had the chance again during the day I ceased the moment!! This service was on POINT! I love a good interactive bartender like my man Eddie, very friendly and knowledgeable so much fun chatting with him and just having a great experience all around. The vibes were so relaxing! This is a hidden gem in Austin. I checked them out because I had an hour to spare. The mixologist there are talented and very friendly. I got two cocktails. The first one was the Dublin Drop and the second one was In Plain Cider. Both cocktails were very good. The place is small so I recommend getting there early enough to grab a seat. They open up at 4pm. The music and the atmosphere was perfect. This is a great spot to grab a good cocktail. They don't make it easy to find them and that is the charm of the place. Just go by the address and you will find them without any problems. read more
