I attended a EuroCircle event at Mort Subite a couple of weeks ago and it was a lot of fun! They said they didn't make martini's so I assumed they didn't have gin or other hard liquors. They did have vermouth and beer offerings. Inside was a dark long hall type of set up with numerous tables. They had tables outside near the front of Congress and some in the back. We ordered food from the food truck just outside the back entrance that we pre-ordered and picked up when we got there. The vermouth options were very interesting and the servers seemed very knowledgeable about the options. I don't drink beer and since they didn't serve martini's I had limited choices for alcoholic drinks. The vibe was fun but it was a bit hard to hear each other inside so it was nice to have the opportunity to step outside and enjoy the nice weather and have a few convos.

What a great downtown spot. I absolutely love that it's named after or in homage to a pub I visited in Brussels. In fact, it was a great reminder of my time in Brussels. Stepping into the front door was like stepping into old-world Europe. The decor and vibe down to a "t". They have an extensive selection of Belgian pours that I've not seen available in the United States in a long time, or if ever, for some of them. The food was really good too but I'll go into further detail on the food truck page. I'm still blown away with the incredible pour menu. I think the fact that they go a step further and serve in proper glassware speaks volumes. This is a pub that attracts locals (like us) as well as tourists. It's gonna be a staple on our social calendar.

This is a bar that serves Belgian beer. There is no table service so order at the bar. If you are hungry, there is a food truck near the back patio that has food like croquetas and tortas. We had an order of the croquetas de pollo which were tasty. I had a Duchesse de Bourgogne sour that was really good. The back patio was quiet and more pleasant than the outdoor seating in the front.

A variety of Belgium beers and glassware to choose from

While waiting for a concert at ACL Live we decided to grab a drink at this spot, and we had a lovely time. The staff was exceptional, the beer was flavorful, and the experience was delightful The bar is well decorated, and makes you feel like you're stepping into a cozy yet trendy Belgium pub. There is also front and back patio seating if you want to enjoy your libations in the fresh Austin air There are dozens of beer to choose from. Many on tap, some bottles, and a variety of seasonal beers. It's also fun because they have so many different types of glassware, and they will give you exactly the glass you that works for whichever beer your order Some tips: Ask the bartender what they suggest. They are a wealth of knowledge, and they obviously take a lot of pride in their work Cheers!

This bar took me back to my old traveling days through Belgium. MJ was amazing at the bar! She served me a cold Duvel and a Duvel 6.66. The food truck expertise is food from Spain. I really enjoyed the jamon and manchego sandwich. I will gladly return! Ps it's dog friendly patio!

Stopped in for a couple of beverages during our walking tour of downtown Austin! What a great little bar! Great decor, nice little outdoor seating area. Hubs and friend had one of the Belgian beers on tap (it was a St. Bernardus) and really enjoyed it - well poured by the friendly bartender! Although the focus here is definitely beer, there were a few decent wines available as well for me. Would definitely return! (Although there was a Reddit post that stated 10% off the whole month of February and the bartender said it was really for only one weekend!)

Driving through downtown Austin with a friend of mine looking for a good place to enjoy a beer or two. Imagine my surprise when I saw the Mort Subite sign. Saw it too late to stop initially, but kudos to my buddy for being willing to turn us around so we could have a proper look at the place. I should probably clarify (in case Yelp's description or your own prior research didn't already tip you off) that Mort Subite is a true Belgian beer bar. That means a couple things. Firstly, this is NOT the place for you if you're looking for something domestic. To emphasize the point, I should mention that my friend asked if they carry any Hefeweizen beers, which was met by mild reproach from the beer tender. They are, as the kids (probably used to) say, keeping it real. Of course, that wasn't a problem for me since I am a HUGE fan of Belgian beers. No I mean an absolute super fan. And fortunately we were able to find some decent options for my friend as well. The interior layout is definitely appropriate to the theming. Beautifully designed bar. Seating inside is somewhat limited but I was okay sitting outside anyway. A TV near the back but this wouldn't be the place to go if you want to watch your favorite US sports team I wouldn't think. We sat outside since the weather was decent and people-watched. Seats weren't super comfortable but fine for our purposes. I enjoyed a Kwak (or two - I wasn't driving :-)). For those of you new to the Kwak - check out my pictures. The beer originated from back in the days when one would roll up to the bar on horseback. The wooden holder for the oddly-shaped class would be used to set the drink (since having a glass shaped for a table-top would be less useful in that scenario). It's an amber beer that is super easy drinking for the fairly high gravity. So, if you like high-gravity (high-alcohol content) beers that are actually palatable, I recommend you give this place a try.

My fiancé had to stop by after she saw the Brasserie d'achouffe beer sign. She said she never seen this beer in the states and reminded her time in Europe. I can't blame her the beer was pretty tasty! The bar was also nice and clear which was a nice hangout spot on a hot summer day. All paired well with the beers and awesome tunes they had playing.

We came for the food truck out back but had a Kvak and Duvel. it's hard to find parking in most downtowns, but there's a lot right next door. This is now one of my favorite locations in all of Austin.

We stumbled upon Mort Subite while just walking around downtown Austin. They had a good selection of beer. Their Gulden Draak smoke was out of this world! It was a smoked beer, those who like whiskey would be really into it. I have never had something like quite like it before, but Mort Subite has definitely perfected the art of smoking a beer. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor was quiet while we were there. The outside seating was right on the street, so it was louder. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area! A quality place, great for beer connoisseurs.

Stopped by for a quick spell along the way to dinner. Service was quick, beer was good and cold. Definitely like the different ranges of glasses used, and the bartenders were very helpful with anything we needed. I think the nice thing here was knowledgeability with the beer. I had a kwak rouge since that was a nice staple for me when visiting Belgium. He had helped compatriot decide on a beer and matching chalice. Made for a good time. We were both not the biggest of beer drinkers tho if in the area and craving, this seems like a nice spot to settle down for a bit.

Probably not. The inside is a bit small and it does seem to be a popular spot.

Looking for a place to watch March Madness and it felt like a humid day packed like sardines in a Boston T car when we walked in and out of Lavaca. We were quite enlightened to walk into The Pub, right around the corner, welcoming us to a cool and dim space with tiled floor, trimmed walls, and embellishments of faux trees. The space wasn't overly packed and a good amount of TVs to feel supported by at least three different sporting events. Even a TV in the men's room (not women's). Service was great! Regular table sweeps. Eric at the bar was very kind and accommodating. What to order? You're in an Irish Sports Bar. A Guinness is a must. The heads were perfect. Pastrami sandwich. You won't be disappointed. And the Burger was actually pretty good too, and unique with touches of arugula and mixed brisket and ground beef meat. Of course, it's always a fun touch to have some special sauce offered. The only thing I noticed that seemed unusual was, not only an automatic tip applied but also, a credit card processing fee added to the bill. Felt a little odd and out of place. Of course, I'm not sure if this is applied with regular service, as we ordered directly from the bar (despite sitting at a high top nearby). Another observation: a lot of people ordered wine and even espresso martinis here. Either they know something I don't, or this place calls to a variety of people. Cheers!

Finally made our first visit so we could try "the best fish & chips" in the Austin area. My son was over the moon! Couldn't even finish half of it and he wanted to haha.
