Chilaquiles Verdes w/Brisket
Stephanie M.

My boyfriend and I were looking to try a new breakfast spot and in our search came across Penelope's Cafe. We are so happy we found this lovely restaurant! We were greeted by lovely and friendly staff that seated us right away. For parking you can park next door at El Meson and prior to being seated they have an iPad where you can enter your license plate for complimentary parking. Don't forget or you might get towed. We started with a Golden Hour Latte and a Lemongrass Blue Tea. Both were good, but the Golden Hour Latte...OMG is so delicious! I'm ordering this every single time from now on. For food we shared a Bacon Egg and Cheese Taco and the Chilaquiles Verdes with Brisket. We also asked for extra salsa which they brought plenty of. The red salsa has a great flavor to it. We were so impressed by the generous portions and flavor. Just wow the brisket is so tender and they serve plenty. Between the two of us we couldn't finish everything. We asked for a Togo box and the owner came back with a box with an extra salsa and a few more potatoes. I really appreciated the sweet gesture to include a little extra for us. It's the little things :) the restaurant is very colorful and inviting. I felt right at home. On top of the wonderful food and staff their prices are quite reasonable. I think we just found our new favorite breakfast spot. I'll be coming back very soon and often!

The golden hour latte was so good! One of the best I've had! Not turmeric, butter- Golden butter, brown sugar and miso, amazing! The breakfast tacos were big & filling. Two was more than enough, and the tortillas... made in house, of course! The corn tortillas are superb, the salsa is fresh and Marisela and her staff are so friendly and warm! Gotta grab something sweet to go- my new favorite neighborhood spot! Check out how cute her ceramic ware is!!

The experience was horrible, for starters when we ordered our drinks our 3 cokes were super flat so we let our waiter know and we just settled for water , our chilaquiles were also very salty and the eggs were very overcooked. When leaving , they wanted to charge us the 3 cokes that we sent back after taking a sip of them and they also charged us an extra $17 just for being a party over 4. Everything was very overpriced for the quality of food they present. I expressed to the manager upon leaving that my experience was very unpleasant and he gave me a "who cares" attitude. I feel like my time and money was wasted here, I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Found this place while I was on a walk. The pancakes are amazing, definitely recommend trying them. The bacon and egg taco was good but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm from the RGV, so this taco coming from Austin wasn't too bad. The service was top notch but this could be because I was the only One in the building. Lovely music and atmosphere, great spot to check out for brunch.

Great food! Authentic Mexican restaurant with a slight modern twist to it. Our server was great, he recommended us a latte that had house made syrup. Very delicious! Lastly the ambiance was great here, architecture was beautiful inside. 10/10 will come again.

An area set aside for free samples , very appreciated

It is a super nice restaurant and they have free food samples which is different . It would be a great place for a football game or soccer game on their outside patio. The service was great and the food was very well perp .

The ambiance is really fun and unique, especially with the little water pond that adds a relaxed, outdoorsy vibe. There's a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating, so it works for different moods and weather. The drink menu is huge, with coffee, tea, and both alcoholic and non alcoholic options, so it's an easy pick no matter what you're in the mood for. I also like that there are food trucks right outside, which makes grabbing a bite super convenient. Plus, the large parking lot is a nice bonus. Overall, it's a really solid, easygoing spot for hanging out or going on a casual date.

The coffee is spot on as at the other location. Shared an iced butterscotch latte with my boyfriend and it was yumx2. There are similar interior decor elements but the exterior spaces differ slightly. Saltillo is more industrial and city. This location is huge with lots of outdoor seating as well as indoor. They've got a mini food truck park (3 trucks), koi pond, chickens, nature, etc. It's definitely a great spot for families with kids and larger gatherings of folks. Just like "our" location, service is exceptional. Everyone was so good to Sir Benjamin. He was so relaxed and chill during our hangout. It's that peaceful vibe that comes with good service and pretty landscaping.

That alone made it a great find, but what made the experience even better was discovering that they also had live entertainment on Tuesday night until 11. It turned a simple coffee stop into a really enjoyable evening. I ordered a coffee and a brownie, and while the total was a little on the expensive side, around $15 or $16, it felt completely worth it to me. The quality was there, and everything felt a bit more gourmet than your average coffee shop stop. The brownie was delicious, the coffee was exactly what I wanted, and the overall atmosphere made the price feel justified. Between the free entertainment, the beautiful decor, and the location, it felt like much more than just paying for coffee and dessert. One of the best parts of the experience was the setting. Being right on the water made it especially beautiful at night. You can enjoy your drink, take a walk, look at the lights, and just soak in the scenery. It was the perfect place to unwind after a heavy meal and a long workday. Since I was only in Austin for work and do not live in the area, I was really glad I found somewhere that felt special and relaxing instead of just functional. The staff was also very friendly, which added a lot to the experience. Good service always makes a difference, and here it made the place feel even more welcoming. Overall, I definitely recommend Mozart's Cafe if you are looking for a late-night coffee spot with charm, scenery, and a unique atmosphere. I would absolutely go back again.

I love that their tacos are so meaty, flavorful and so enjoyable to eat. In retrospect, I should've bought two instead of one, however, I did not want to overdose on tacos today. Just like a number of businesses, Mozart's coffee roasters are featuring Easter related items. They have the cutest little sugar cookies with a Easter theme. My server was friendly and quick. So, was in and out in lightning speed.

It was definitely good and had a unique flavor, but it didn't fully win me over. I enjoyed trying it, but it's probably not something I'd order again. The guava matcha, on the other hand, was incredible. Easily one of the best matchas I've ever had. The flavor was perfectly balanced, not too earthy, smooth, and just the right amount of sweetness. Exactly how I like my matcha. Overall, such a fun spot to try creative drinks. I'd absolutely come back for the matcha alone! The croissant I had last year was so perfectly crunchy and flakey, literally one of the best croissants I've had in the states. This year it was still good but didn't have that super flaky crunchy top. Still recommend! I've only had the plain. Guava next maybe? And yes, the line is always "long" but they move very quickly. The line was probably 20 people and took less than 10min. Last year they had breakfast tacos in the courtyard from a local place, but I didn't see that this year so maybe it's not happening anymore. Overall 100/10 recommend this place! Worth the wait.
