Shoyu Butterscotch Latte
Bing G.

Came here around 11am on a Friday and there were probably 20-30 people already in line, which looked a little intimidating at first. But the line moved surprisingly fast -- we waited maybe 10 minutes before ordering. It was also during SXSW, so the whole area was packed with people. The seating area is actually really nice. There's a courtyard with several tables and also a second-floor seating area. We ended up sitting upstairs, which gives you a slightly elevated view of the street -- fun for people watching during such a busy weekend. A few tables were a little dirty, which could probably be cleaned more frequently, but overall the space was pleasant. Service was excellent. The person taking orders was smiling the whole time and chatted with us a bit, and the person handing out the drinks was also super friendly. The vibe felt very relaxed despite the crowd. I ordered the Shoyu Butterscotch Latte. According to the menu, it's made with house-made butterscotch, balanced with a two-stage fermented shoyu, and paired with an Amarena cherry. The flavor was really interesting -- a sweet and savory combination that wasn't overly sugary. It had a caramel-like richness, with a subtle umami finish (probably from the shoyu). Smooth and surprisingly balanced. Yes, the specialty drinks are a bit pricey, but the flavors are unique and well executed. If you're in Austin -- especially during SXSW -- this is definitely a fun coffee stop to try.

I was nervous when I saw all the delightfully sweet drinks, but fear not, their coffee is awesome and needs none of that. The black cold brew was delicious, rich, and strong. I'll definitely comeback back! The line was maybe 10 people long when I came by at 2pm on Tuesday, but it moved quickly and was well worth the wait. Located just outside of Fairground Austin in a little silver trailer.

Brown Sugar Miso Latte

Great coffee spot in a cute trailer in downtown Austin. Went with the popular Brown Sugar Miso Latte and it was as incredible as I anticipated it to be. Quick and efficient service even though they were slammed. Only downside is I forgot to by some beans to bring back home. Next time I'm in Austin I'll make sure to grab some!

Butterscotch shoyu & brown sugar miso

It was incredibly busy when we ordered, and I'm not completely sure what happened, but they seemed to have lost our order, since when I finally asked about it, they recognized we were waiting for a long time, apologized, said they will refund the order and work on it right away. That was really sweet. Service is 5/5! I wish I would have liked the coffee more, but it was okay. My boyfriend ordered a brown sugar miso iced latte, and I ordered the butterscotch shoyu hot latte. The brown sugar miso seems more popular, but in my opinion it wasn't that good. However, I recommend the butterscotch shoyu! I was worried it was going to be too sweet, but it wasn't! There is an interesting aftertaste that I would think is the shoyu... I didn't particularly enjoy that.. but I understand it's Desnudo's thing.

I finally got the chance to visit the downtown location of Desnudo to try the hyped up breakfast sandwich. The iced La Guayaba matcha was delicious but probably not the best choice given the 40°F weather but I have no regrets. It was different from any other matcha I have ever had and I definitely recommend it. Just beware it contains dairy if you are lactose intolerant. The breakfast sando lived up to the hype and had a nice kick which warded off the cold weather. In a genius move on my end, I placed my order online and just went to the pickup window to check in. This definitely saved a lot of time since the line to order was around 40 people deep and going down the steps of the park. My drink order was ready in about 5 minutes and my sandwich order was ready in less than 10 minutes. Even though there were a lot of people ordering, I still saw plenty of seating in the park.

Brown sugar and miso latte

A small brown sugar and miso latte is a splurge at approximately $8 after tax. I guess that's the average price tag with most downtown area coffee shops? Initially I was skeptical and worried it might be too sweet for my preferences. But the umami from the miso helped cut into the brown sugar. The location was incredibly convenient because it was down the street from our hotel. However, there was a wait because they were experiencing technical issues with their computer and ordering system. What should have been a quick pick-me-up ended up taking about 15 minutes.

Worth the hype. Prepare to wait on the weekend! Delicious flavor combinations. The brown sugar miso latte was phenomenal.

This is the spot to get good quality matcha (if you're not getting coffee). The hojicha was delicious! I would come back just for that alone. Order & pay and then wait for your drink to be made. If you come when there's no long line, your drink will be ready within 5 minutes. There's plenty of shade and tables around if you want to chill and enjoy your drink as well.

Love!! The brown sugar miso latte was amazing. There was a line on a Friday morning but it went by super quick and they were giving out free samples while you waited which was really thoughtful. The outdoor seating area is beautiful right in the city, plenty of shade. I really enjoyed everything!!

The white miso latte is a must have! I also tried the brown miso the next day, it feels a bit less sweet to me. Both are delicious! Matcha is also my favorite. Highly recommend ordering ahead online to avoid the wait!

A lil coffee truck in downtown Austin serving the most umami, unique coffee drinks. There are tables to sit out in an outdoor courtyard. I am a sucker for any salty-sweet combo so the Shoyu Butterscotch latte ($6.75) was such a winner for me. The specialty drinks are expensive, but everything is these days. They have matcha too! The Staff are very nice :)

This spot is located in a super cute outdoor space Downtown with lots of trees and seating. Came here on a Saturday morning around 8:30am. I was worried there would be a long wait but only 2 people were in line when I arrived and I waited about 5 min for my order. What I ordered: - Breakfast Sando (5/5): This was so good! I loved the homemade bun. It's not very big so it's probably a little pricey for its size but it was the perfect amount of food for me - Brown Sugar Miso (4.5/5): I asked for 50% sugar and only 2 shots instead of their standard 3. I think half sugar is definitely the way to go, regular sweetness would have been way too sweet. Only thing is I would recommend asking for less ice. All the ice ended up diluting my drink quite a bit. Overall I would definitely recommend! I was only in Austin for 1 day and I was happy to have stumbled upon this place.

The coffee at Desnudo was interesting! Taking my order was super easy and the employee was super helpful! However, when the coffee came out we were unsure our orders were ours lol but it tasted fine! No complaints! I think the name call system gets a little hectic when it's PACKED!

I may be the current Duke of this location, but there is still a lot for me to try. And dang, I really want one of those really nice tote bags. Before I discuss the coffee order I got this time. I wanted to shout out the customer service for being ridiculously amazing. Maybe it was because I got there super early and right when they opened, but this was the first time I did not see them super stressed and low-key freaking out. I usually walk away with my beverages, but this time I sat down. One of the baristas actually came out and checked on me to see how my drinks were. I found this to be super special. Okay, now onto the dirty chai that I ordered. I asked (when I asked about the floral notes that I was tasting) if they made their own chai in house and the woman told me that they in fact did. She also mentioned that I got the end of the house-made batch so what I was tasting might be different from a normal order. I thought this was quite interesting and this was another unique beverage, despite being a staple at many coffee shops. Would I order it again? Probably not but it was good! Also, with the Shoyu butterscotch, I would stick to the iced version. So thank you Desnudo for another great vibe and for making my one hour round-trip always worth it!

Nice space, good mix of seating, wifi, local feel, and friendly staff. Their seasonal drinks were usually fun, the bottled horchata cold brew was great when they actually had it, and buying a quart of regular cold brew was convenient. I also remember them being one of the first places around here doing nitro cold brew. No pour overs, but the drip was solid enough when you wanted something hot. I still own a couple of their t-shirts, so clearly I liked the place. The issue is getting there. The lot is small, uneven, and full of bumps, rocks, and holes, which is not easy when you use a cane. They used to have a handicap space, but the line faded and the sign disappeared. I would drive by hoping for parking, but that intersection is not one I want to circle around more than once. Even going with my husband, it could still be awkward to get in from some spots. For me, it just stopped being worth the effort. These days I usually go to Dog Days instead. It is still a walk from the garage, but much easier to navigate.

Bad news...this coffee company sells coffee by the pound not lattes (hence the name). Good news... they sell drip coffee for $2.00 + tax. What a deal! This family owned shop has been roasting beans locally since 1972 and focuses on helping customers brew excellent coffee at home rather than serving coffee drinks on premises. According to the store manager, Mr. Anderson occasionally comes into the store. The selection of freshly roasted beans is rather larger, with store favorites like Guatemala Antiqua, Dark Sumatra and Arabian Mocha cited as most popular. Coffee cost on average $19 per pound. In addition to coffee, the store carries loose leaf teas, mugs, candy, cards, coffee pot sweaters, brewing equipment, and small other gift items, to name just a few items. That alone made it a great find, but what made the experience even better was discovering that they also had live entertainment on Tuesday night until 11. It turned a simple coffee stop into a really enjoyable evening. I ordered a coffee and a brownie, and while the total was a little on the expensive side, around $15 or $16, it felt completely worth it to me. The quality was there, and everything felt a bit more gourmet than your average coffee shop stop. The brownie was delicious, the coffee was exactly what I wanted, and the overall atmosphere made the price feel justified. Between the free entertainment, the beautiful decor, and the location, it felt like much more than just paying for coffee and dessert. One of the best parts of the experience was the setting. Being right on the water made it especially beautiful at night. You can enjoy your drink, take a walk, look at the lights, and just soak in the scenery. It was the perfect place to unwind after a heavy meal and a long workday. Since I was only in Austin for work and do not live in the area, I was really glad I found somewhere that felt special and relaxing instead of just functional. The staff was also very friendly, which added a lot to the experience. Good service always makes a difference, and here it made the place feel even more welcoming.
