I ordered drip coffee with a cup of ice to make a sort-of iced coffee to cool down after the run. They complied and gave me a full cup of ice. They had half & half and almond milk, along with cinnamon, simple syrup and other sugars for added flavor. I added stevia to my coffee. Service was fast; my coffee was ready within 2 minutes. Like a lot of other places in Austin, Spokesman is a coffee shop by day and bar by night. But what made them unique was the vibe! Very relaxing, yet moody and fun at the same time. I stopped in for a late afternoon pick-me-up and ordered the seasonal Earl Grey matcha latte. So good! The Earl Grey added a light, fragrant twist to the matcha without overpowering it, which made the drink feel really balanced and unique. I ended up hanging out for a bit to read a chapter of my book before heading out. What a great coffee shop! They also serve beer in the evening. I came to journal and really appreciated all the tables and seats that were available and nearly almost every seat had an outlet available. I had the special the Chaider and it was good but wish it was a little less sweet. I also appreciate they had for here cups so I could enjoy the drink in a real cup. Parking on a weekday was easy as there was plenty of free parking, but know that the lot is shared with many businesses. Food wise they do have kolaches that can be warmed up and they also have food trucks that open once 11:30-12 pm hits. Great place to study and the wifi was strong! When we arrived I loved the area that they are located in as I feel like you can do a pub/food crawl down the row of all the options. We pulled up 30 minutes after they opened and walked into paradise. I ended up ordering a 16oz Dirty Chai with oat milk with vanilla. I walked around while my drink was being made and noticed a roastery and wall art. I absolutely loved the boom box wall art. They have happy hour and beer on tap, later in the afternoon. Awesome first experience at Spokesman. The space was super cool and inviting on this Saturday morning. Arrived at about 9am and there was no line! We walked right up and ordered drip coffees, a "glacier freeze" (draft carbonated blue Gatorade haha), and a coffee cake. They have an amazing selection of rotating coffees (both drip and espresso), an awesome beer list, and food from numerous high quality purveyors. I will definitely be back for a Sour Duck croissant. A few friends and I are in a writers group and we've been in the market for a new place to meet up on Thursday nights to work. We decided to give Spokesman a try. After reading reviews, I didn't expect parking problems, but it was an absolute madhouse. The lot is large, but even so several of us had to park blocks away and lug our laptops in, and it didn't feel like the safest area to walk around in the dark alone after. It's located in a long strip of trendy shops and bars/restaurants and was packed for a Thursday night at 7pm. I got in just under the wire for happy hour so my cider was $5, definitely the best deal I've had lately! The guy running the bar was super sweet, and the interior is nicely decorated and clean. However, while seating options were plenty, none of the tables were big enough for four of us to really sit together and have our laptops out, and half of the seating was backless stools that didn't seem comfortable for long periods of working. We ended up cramped in a booth and made do, but we won't be back for group work. The music was also too loud for working. read more

Being a South Austinite I love me some close-to-home local options for a strong cup of coffee and this OG Spokesman location is so easy to pop in, grab a drink, and head out for work or about your day (orrrrrr stick around and hang out). The namesake tells you that this spot is a perfect cyclist stop and hangout. There is a large custom metal bicycle hanger you can pop your bike up on as you hang. I always appreciate seeing the hanger full of bicycles when I walk in and do my very best to not stare/admire the super attractive cyclists just hanging out with cute espresso cups in their hands. Whew! If I am early enough and they haven't sold out I love the Kerlaches offering of kolaches that they sell here especially the brisket or pulled pork options. I haven't tried much past those tasty kolaches but I believe they offer tacos maybe? Check the menus in front of the cashier to see what they have for the day. I love coming here when they have BYOV (Bring Your Own Vinyl) night where you are encouraged to bring your own record, choose A or B side to be played, and offer it up for all to listen. I have gone once and I loved sitting at the bar with a full glass of a crisp local Hefeweizen waiting for my record to be played. Parking always easy and service is friendly and fast. Shout out to the baristas and bartenders who kick tail and work late. I was surprised, appreciative, and support happy to see Spokesman was opened on Christmas Eve (until 3pm). If you're looking for an artsy fartsy coffee shop, look no further. The ambience is very charming and whimsical with really friendly customer service. I went there for the first time on Sunday with my spouse and was not disappointed. Their little bread buns filled with the brisket are absolutely delicious. They are so good in fact that I would honestly come there just for those alone. I also really appreciate that the lattes I ordered were not drowning in sugar. I got the lavender latte and my husband got the ginger latte. Both were delicious. The bathrooms were very clean and tidy. The chocolate they have near the cash register are very tasty as well. I stopped here with friends to do some work on our laptops. I tried the seasonal flavor - Biscoff Latte. Honestly I love Biscoff so I was really excited to try it. The Biscoff crumbles on top sink to the bottom right away, I was hoping they dissolved into the coffee. The first couple of sips were good, but then my coffee got cold so fast. I think that even though the place has really high ceilings, the fans were going full speed (keep it mind it was raining outside), and therefore blowing on my coffee. Not only that, but also my eyes started feeling dry after a little bit I was there. Other than this, the coffee was good. One of my friends got the peppermint one and it was better than mine, and the other one tried the Cinnamon Chai and liked it. By the time I finished my coffee, all the crumbles were soaking at the bottom and the texture was not my favorite, tbh. There's also a section with a water fountain, spoons, sugar and much more. The atmosphere in the place is pleasant, they have a projector and a tv going and the bar seems perfect to go grab a couple drinks with a friend. Wow I'm bummed we didn't check out this place on our first day here in Austin. We are in town visiting family and stayed nearby. The drinks are absolutely delicious - I got a ginger vanilla and my husband got a caramel chocolate latte. The flavors are so subtle and creamy and it was just perfect. Right temperature, not too sweet, the way coffee should taste. Loved the artistic ambiance there. This building is part of a strip industrial shops where the outside is filled with graffiti art. There is a winery, whiskey bar and I think fried chicken shop in the same mall. Will def have to come back in the future and check out other shops. Its in a warehouse, but its big, great for groups, lots of people hanging out and working, The coffee is delicious and they have pastries from Sour Duck! This is a fun, large coffee shop with very little seating. They rave about their food, but you pretty much have to show up in the morning to get any of it because it's brought in, not made there. And it's mostly all gone by the afternoon. There is a pizza truck in the parking lot, but the price for a pizza is horrifying for the amount you get. So if it's not morning, don't plan on also grabbing food while you are there. The coffee was eh... You order a flavored coffee and they don't really put enough flavor into it to make it taste anything other than creamy coffee with a flavor afterthought. So if you are like me, who frequents places where you like drinks with coffee in them, but want the flavor of coffee to be the afterthought, then this is not the place for you either. Next to the coffee bar is an actual bar with beers on tap from ales to cider and even a fruit punch and pickle sour type drink. I ordered a vanilla latte for over just $6, tapped into their wifi and found open seating in the back patio. Only 3-5 tables are near outlets inside, but the back patio has a few outlets. Due to the crowd, you do kind of have to push past people to actually find the line, but then it wasn't too long of a wait. This is not a 'chill, do some work, relax' kind of coffee shop. It was more of a hipster, everyone is talking loud, standing room only, party kind of vibe. Since this is Texas, and it is a place that is basically outdoors, it is hot. So funky and awesome in the warehouse area and indoor plants and Great Wall art. He enjoyed his cappuccino and I had a lovely time with a lime Roibos tea that was so relaxing and aromatic.
