We went to Nougatine Bakery after a 5K run on a Sunday morning. They had only pastries, so we went next door to Spokesman for coffee. I loved the funky black and white bus with drawings outside. I ordered drip coffee with a cup of ice to make a sort-of iced coffee to cool down after the run. They complied and gave me a full cup of ice. They had half & half and almond milk, along with cinnamon, simple syrup and other sugars for added flavor. I added stevia to my coffee. Service was fast; my coffee was ready within 2 minutes. The interior has ample tables for sitting and colorful hanging paper fringe decorations. read more

Like a lot of other places in Austin, Spokesman is a coffee shop by day and bar by night. But what made them unique was the vibe! Very relaxing, yet moody and fun at the same time. I stopped in for a late afternoon pick-me-up and ordered the seasonal Earl Grey matcha latte. So good! The Earl Grey added a light, fragrant twist to the matcha without overpowering it, which made the drink feel really balanced and unique. I ended up hanging out for a bit to read a chapter of my book before heading out. It's the kind of place where you could easily get some work done, study, or just enjoy a quiet break with a good drink. read more

What a great coffee shop! They also serve beer in the evening. I came to journal and really appreciated all the tables and seats that were available and nearly almost every seat had an outlet available. I had the special the Chaider and it was good but wish it was a little less sweet. I also appreciate they had for here cups so I could enjoy the drink in a real cup. Parking on a weekday was easy as there was plenty of free parking, but know that the lot is shared with many businesses. Food wise they do have kolaches that can be warmed up and they also have food trucks that open once 11:30-12 pm hits. Great place to study and the wifi was strong! Saw a ton of people working so definitely popular spot for people to work. read more

Parking - yes but lot can get pretty full - shared by many businesses. Free. Coffee - YES it is good and strong. They have a fantastic rosemary (seasonal) latte with toffee on top which is my current fave Dogs - no, indoor space only, no patio and no dogs allowed Kolache - brisket one (husband loved it) and spinach feta (veggie option) were great! Friendly service, fast, space has lots of tables. Not a cost vibe more of an nyc work space/bring your laptop and get stuff done vibe. read more

Came here with my coworkers to try a local shop instead of the main chains. I love a good surprise coffee shop. When we arrived I loved the area that they are located in as I feel like you can do a pub/food crawl down the row of all the options. We pulled up 30 minutes after they opened and walked into paradise. I ended up ordering a 16oz Dirty Chai with oat milk with vanilla. I walked around while my drink was being made and noticed a roastery and wall art. I absolutely loved the boom box wall art. They have happy hour and beer on tap, later in the afternoon. The dirty chai was nice and my coworkers loved the espresso. They said it was extremely smooth and they could get caught up if they didn't realize there were 3 shots in the cup. If you are ever in the area please feel free to join. read more

Loved the coffee here! Located in the St. Elmo Arts District, Spokesman is a large coffee shop that roasts their own beans and also brews their own beer. I got a free parking spot right out front, and was amazed by the super high ceilings and amazing murals on the walls when I got inside. They also have a small outdoor patio. I got an iced americano and loved the espresso. The person I was meeting with got an orange latte and I was intrigued by it! Definitely will try a specialty latte next time. Awesome first experience at Spokesman. The space was super cool and inviting on this Saturday morning. Arrived at about 9am and there was no line! We walked right up and ordered drip coffees, a "glacier freeze" (draft carbonated blue Gatorade haha), and a coffee cake. They have an amazing selection of rotating coffees (both drip and espresso), an awesome beer list, and food from numerous high quality purveyors. I will definitely be back for a Sour Duck croissant. I wish there was more comfortable/cozy seating, but that is a minor gripe. The staff was incredibly kind, informative, and quick. Would love to come by and see what it's like at night! read more

Very cool and spacious atmosphere, lots of graffiti art, medium amount of seating. great place for studying, WFH, a lot of single seats & tables. What I love about the businesses in St. Elmo's is that each one sticks to its specialty, which keeps the market balanced. For Spokesman, this means they're the big coffee shop on the block without any competitors. If you're in a rush, you might want to skip it, as mornings can get busy and the baristas work at an Austin pace. In addition to coffee, they offer a variety of food items from other vendors, and at night, they even serve beer! Dogs aren't allowed inside, but there's seating in the alleyway next to the shop. The coffee is well worth the wait, but I wish there were more seats inside with access to outlets for those of us who work remote... read more

There is no better coffee in Austin - Spokesman is the top dog, GOAT, best of the best! They have an amazing selection of coffee drinks, beer and unique surprises (sparkling Gatorade is the best thing you will ever drink in Texas heat!) Barristas are skilled, friendly amd unfussy (even when you order a half caf/extra hot Americano with steamed cream and homemade Pistachio syrup). I love that there is an amazing coffee shop in my neighborhood! Spokesmen is located in the yard in the St Elmo district and off the bat you know it's a cool spot just from the location alone. The inside is very industrial and you can see them roasting their beans which I've never seen before. There's plenty of seating and it's quite enough to come here and do some work too. The coffee is always amazing and the service is the same as well. I just might be a new regular! read more

Spokesman is close so I tend to hit it up on the regular. They have great cold brew and some tasty pastries. The outside patio area is great and comfy and a really good place to sit and read a book and have coffee. There are often musical events, I've seen a few cool dj and hip hop sets. The employees are always nice friendly cool folks. read more

Spokesman nails that industrial, slightly grunge vibe that makes it such a cool place to grab some joe and get some work done. Coffee's great, and they even have a selection of craft beers on tap if you're in the mood for something a little more boozy. It gives off EATX vibes inside. read more

Great happy hour and super nice staff; horrible parking situation and not great for group work. A few friends and I are in a writers group and we've been in the market for a new place to meet up on Thursday nights to work. We decided to give Spokesman a try. After reading reviews, I didn't expect parking problems, but it was an absolute madhouse. The lot is large, but even so several of us had to park blocks away and lug our laptops in, and it didn't feel like the safest area to walk around in the dark alone after. It's located in a long strip of trendy shops and bars/restaurants and was packed for a Thursday night at 7pm. I got in just under the wire for happy hour so my cider was $5, definitely the best deal I've had lately! The guy running the bar was super sweet, and the interior is nicely decorated and clean. However, while seating options were plenty, none of the tables were big enough for four of us to really sit together and have our laptops out, and half of the seating was backless stools that didn't seem comfortable for long periods of working. We ended up cramped in a booth and made do, but we won't be back for group work. The music was also too loud for working. read more

The interior is very cool looking and it has a nice ambiance. I ordered a chai tea with no ice (because iced beverages make me shiver terribly) and it was repeated back to me. The barista made it with ice... this happens a lot because I feel like they forget/don't care/hate when people do this. It is just always disappointing. I didn't ask for them to fix it because it took probably 20 minutes for the barista to make the drink. I don't think I would return here. The chai is fine, but it is nothing to write home about. read more

If you're looking for an artsy fartsy coffee shop, look no further. The ambience is very charming and whimsical with really friendly customer service. I went there for the first time on Sunday with my spouse and was not disappointed. Their little bread buns filled with the brisket are absolutely delicious. They are so good in fact that I would honestly come there just for those alone. I also really appreciate that the lattes I ordered were not drowning in sugar. I got the lavender latte and my husband got the ginger latte. Both were delicious. The bathrooms were very clean and tidy. The chocolate they have near the cash register are very tasty as well. If you stop by, I recommend trying the little chocolates with the picture of a wine bottle on the front. It has a very nice rich, smoky flavor. Please take a look at my photos for a reference. I look forward to coming back. read more

Being a South Austinite I love me some close-to-home local options for a strong cup of coffee and this OG Spokesman location is so easy to pop in, grab a drink, and head out for work or about your day (orrrrrr stick around and hang out). The namesake tells you that this spot is a perfect cyclist stop and hangout. There is a large custom metal bicycle hanger you can pop your bike up on as you hang. I always appreciate seeing the hanger full of bicycles when I walk in and do my very best to not stare/admire the super attractive cyclists just hanging out with cute espresso cups in their hands. Whew! If I am early enough and they haven't sold out I love the Kerlaches offering of kolaches that they sell here especially the brisket or pulled pork options. I haven't tried much past those tasty kolaches but I believe they offer tacos maybe? Check the menus in front of the cashier to see what they have for the day. I love coming here when they have BYOV (Bring Your Own Vinyl) night where you are encouraged to bring your own record, choose A or B side to be played, and offer it up for all to listen. I have gone once and I loved sitting at the bar with a full glass of a crisp local Hefeweizen waiting for my record to be played. Parking always easy and service is friendly and fast. Shout out to the baristas and bartenders who kick tail and work late. I was surprised, appreciative, and support happy to see Spokesman was opened on Christmas Eve (until 3pm). It's always better to get local cup of joe. read more

I stopped here with friends to do some work on our laptops. I tried the seasonal flavor - Biscoff Latte. Honestly I love Biscoff so I was really excited to try it. The Biscoff crumbles on top sink to the bottom right away, I was hoping they dissolved into the coffee. The first couple of sips were good, but then my coffee got cold so fast. I think that even though the place has really high ceilings, the fans were going full speed (keep it mind it was raining outside), and therefore blowing on my coffee. Not only that, but also my eyes started feeling dry after a little bit I was there. Other than this, the coffee was good. One of my friends got the peppermint one and it was better than mine, and the other one tried the Cinnamon Chai and liked it. By the time I finished my coffee, all the crumbles were soaking at the bottom and the texture was not my favorite, tbh. There's also a section with a water fountain, spoons, sugar and much more. The atmosphere in the place is pleasant, they have a projector and a tv going and the bar seems perfect to go grab a couple drinks with a friend. I personally give the whole experience a 7 out of 10. read more

My go to coffee shop will always stop here. Good service great beer happy hour too The cold brew is the best in town.

Cool coffee shop. Katie the barista was nice. The space is nice and open. Natural sunlight. It's a warehouse feel. You can see the coffee roaster doing his thing. It's not too too loud. My caramel latte was good. They use don't make there syrups in house....but it is organic. read more

Wow I'm bummed we didn't check out this place on our first day here in Austin. We are in town visiting family and stayed nearby. The drinks are absolutely delicious - I got a ginger vanilla and my husband got a caramel chocolate latte. The flavors are so subtle and creamy and it was just perfect. Right temperature, not too sweet, the way coffee should taste. Loved the artistic ambiance there. This building is part of a strip industrial shops where the outside is filled with graffiti art. There is a winery, whiskey bar and I think fried chicken shop in the same mall. Will def have to come back in the future and check out other shops. Service was great and fast, got recommendations from staff there which helped my selection from their menu. 5/5 will return next time in town! read more

Spokesman is a nice coffee shop! They have a nice vibe with a dark, wooden interior. They have a broad beer menu and nice coffees and lattes. I've had Spokesman a few times and the drinks are always well done. This time I ordered the lavendar chai which was really nice...smooth and spicy. One of the better chais I've had in ages. We came in here after tasting some wine at the Austin winery next door - man is this a cool spot. Its in a warehouse, but its big, great for groups, lots of people hanging out and working, The coffee is delicious and they have pastries from Sour Duck! So delicious - I am planning to come back to visit and hang out a bit. Highly recommend the iced coffee, its smooth, and the latte with oat milk was solid. Not bitter which I really appreciate. There is power on the front wall if I remember right, but I did notice the power was a bit sparse if you wanted to hangout with coffee and work on your laptop. I also wished they had an expanded coffee selection, but the coffee they do have is really good. They have A LOT of craft beers on tap as well.- but i did not try any of the beers so wanted to keep this review on the coffee! read more

Was in Austin with my wife for a medical conference and walked almost a mile to this coffee shop because I was desperate for a good latte. Nice atmosphere with plenty of seating and fast WiFi. The lattes were smooth, creamy, delicious, and consistent, a sign that all the baristas are well trained on the equipment and knowledgeable about various espresso drinks. The coffee was great. The service was great. The ambiance, however, is fine...if you want ridiculously loud music on a Saturday morning. All I wanted was a nice relaxing cup of coffee. This is a fun, large coffee shop with very little seating. They rave about their food, but you pretty much have to show up in the morning to get any of it because it's brought in, not made there. And it's mostly all gone by the afternoon. There is a pizza truck in the parking lot, but the price for a pizza is horrifying for the amount you get. So if it's not morning, don't plan on also grabbing food while you are there. The coffee was eh... You order a flavored coffee and they don't really put enough flavor into it to make it taste anything other than creamy coffee with a flavor afterthought. So if you are like me, who frequents places where you like drinks with coffee in them, but want the flavor of coffee to be the afterthought, then this is not the place for you either. In East Congress next to a Tesla dealership is an industrial part of town with tons of crafts breweries, a winery, distilleries and Spokesman Coffee. Walk inside and you're surrounded by an industrial space with high ceilings and murals on literally every wall. It's quirky and beautiful! Walk up the the barista and order a coffee from a full coffee menu. They roast their beans and sell it across the country. Next to the coffee bar is an actual bar with beers on tap from ales to cider and even a fruit punch and pickle sour type drink. I ordered a vanilla latte for over just $6, tapped into their wifi and found open seating in the back patio. Only 3-5 tables are near outlets inside, but the back patio has a few outlets. I decided to come here since finding a place to work from in south Austin is really hard. I have been to their highland location and so I decided to come here. I got the pistachio matcha and it was interesting! Nothing against the barista I know what I was getting myself into when I ordered it. It definitely wasn't as loud or crowded as their Highland location, though I will say it felt a lot darker inside and they didn't have the AC running so it was getting really hot inside. I have been here a few times- once to pick up a grab n' go sandwich, and twice for coffee + pastries/breakfast. The most recent time, I got an iced chai with oat milk. The chai is a bit sweet and I usually prefer a little more spice but it was still good the kolache was an interesting shape that I wasn't used to but it tasted delicious. I would absolutely get it again! I didn't take pictures of the inside, but it's fairly small but a cool vibe. Kind of like graffiti/art on the walls - very keep Austin weird vibes. There is decent parking but it is located in a The Yard, which is a nice strip mall basically so the parking is for several businesses. This place was pretty lively (~4pm on a Saturday). Very crowded, loud, and jovial. The cashier/bar tenders were helpful/kind and pretty efficient. Due to the crowd, you do kind of have to push past people to actually find the line, but then it wasn't too long of a wait. This is not a 'chill, do some work, relax' kind of coffee shop. It was more of a hipster, everyone is talking loud, standing room only, party kind of vibe. Since this is Texas, and it is a place that is basically outdoors, it is hot. Pretty average place (3-stars), would recommend as a fun spot to meet up with friends! read more
