Service is nice, coffee is good, ample parking, I've been eyeing the pastries (they look great) but I haven't tried any yet.

I love this little coffee shop. It's right across the parking lot from my dentist, so I always go there after appointments for some caffeine and discounted pastry. This morning I also picked up a Migas taco. They carry Tacodeli tacos in a case that keeps them very warm. The service is always friendly and quick. The coffee is rich and flavorful. Bad service! I drove like a crazy person in the rain to grab a quick coffee before getting home and she wouldn't serve me because she had already closed and it was close to 5pm! But it wasn't 5 pm and it literally takes that few minutes to make the coffee and when I mentioned she's like sorry no and I walked out. It's a decent selection of drinks here, at a quiet and peaceful coffee shop. I had a latte, not the best I've had, a little too much milk for my liking but it was good. The interior's nice and it feels cozy. They also have pastries, which I did not try, but they appeared well-liked by other customers. It's also a perfect spot to work with your laptop or catch up with a friend. There isn't much seating, but you'll find about five tables inside and a couple outside. Very disappointing 1st time experience today. Ordered 2 coffees and a zucchini bread. Coffee was served tepid warm but not hot and tasted kinda stale to be honest. I've lived 2min from this coffee shop and never tried it but I finally decided to go recently. The shop itself is very small, there isn't a lot of space or seating. I got the Honey Bee Latte and it was okay, nothing special. The barista seemed a little annoyed I couldn't tell if he was tired or what but at one point he left and it was just me in the shop. I was confused so I decided to leave too. Mind you this was around noon on a Saturday, and they close at 5 so I know he wasn't closing up. Cannon Coffee is a great place to have a chat with a friend or get some work done if you're over 5' 4". The coffee was nothing to write home about but good nonetheless, the staff was very friendly, good seating and plugs, and there are small business and nice artwork featured. However, this is not somewhere I would sit all day to work as the chairs are not the most comfortable and the tables are much too high for the chairs they have. Overall would take a friend to chew the fat, but probably not a work destination. read more

I came across another review among many regarding the rude and inconsiderate short lady who works at Cannon Coffee Shop. Additionally, I noticed some unpleasant comments about the pastries. If an establishment employs a staff member who responds to a customer's concern about receiving lukewarm coffee with, "Is that all the f*** you have to complain about?" then what can one expect from the overall service? Anyone working at a coffee shop who uses profanity towards customers when they voice concerns about a $6 coffee that should be served hot raises serious questions about the quality of both food and service. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if there were unpleasant rodents lurking in the background and mixed in with the food and other items. read more

I went a while back. I really enjoyed the coffee I got, I think it was the signature with the nice name that was lavender and honey. The art on the walls was fun to look at, especially as it was local art and not from home goods. For a coffee shop in a plaza, it managed to still feel cozy. I had such a great experience here. I didn't get the lady's experience that took care of me on Saturday morning but she really made my day. I had a delicious matcha and a taco from Taco Deli. I'll be honest, I could've done without the taco. When I saw the label said "potato and egg" I didn't realize it would be mashed potato! Noooooo! So next time cause I will be back, I'll get a kolache instead! Also, I bought some of the Chiapas coffee and had her ground it for me. Such a great purchase! first time trying Cannon , said "how are you" to the barista who gave no response to my question (thought that was odd ) they said "what do you want" also very rude. i asked about the menu, they pointed to it so i can read it myself (how dare i try to make conversatio) . basic customer service is not practiced here so don't expect to have a pleasant interaction. my coffee latte tasted more of hot milk than coffee /: will not be returning and advise anyone not to come here even though the prices are fair , the drink was not made right in my opinion i will pay more elsewhere for friendly baristas and tasty drinks. what a shame read more

Today was my first time to Cannon Coffee it won't be my last. I recently started drinking cold brew and you will not be disappointed. I got the Nightmare Before Coffee and it came with 2 shots of espresso. I am that person who doesn't necessarily like the taste of any type of coffee so I had to add a shot of flavor. I'm not positive how much caramel was it it but it wasn't enough or maybe I didn't shake it enough. Regardless it was it was good and glad I stopped by. read more

I really like one of their speciality signature drinks but I can't remember the name of it and their website and Instagram pages are pretty bare bones. It's called like Texas Gold or Texas Coast or something like that I think and it has clove and orange peel. Honestly, I thought it sounded gross at first but they said it was a crowd favorite so I tried it and did not regret it! It's one of my favorite drinks there - I think it might be year round but it's definitely good in the fall. Over the summer I got a lavender ube latte that was really good too. It's a pretty small shop in a strip mall so there isn't a ton of seating and only 1-2 tables outside but a great place to stop by for a short time! They have breakfast tacos until they run out and lots of pastries. Despite being in a strip mall, it's still pretty good and it's on my way to work, so I've been a handful of times and will keep going! I do wish they would upgrade their website and Instagram pages a bit to help with their marketing, but otherwise this place is pretty solid in my book! read more

1) Fine coffee in Far South Austin. 2) Actually Semi-Far-South Austin. Far South Austin now seems to extend to Buda. 3) Semi-Far-South Austin is getting a lot of interesting coffee places. When I lived there, Jim's was the best you could do. 4) The coffee here is unusual - even by Austin Keep-Austin-Weird Standards. The coffee particles in your cup actually settle, much as the grounds do in a Turkish coffee. This leads to an interesting drinking experience. The top of your cup is very mild and suave. Your coffee is gentle, almost like a nursemaid. But as you work your way down the cup, the coffee taste and that good intriguing bitterness get stronger and stronger. By the time you are at the bottom, the coffee is at Schwartzenegger level - very big, very strong, very challenging. And it has major bitterness to keep the drinking honest. I definitely like it. 5) Baked goods come from the Moonlight Bakery on South Lamar. I had the Cheese Danish. It was a standard orthodox well executed Cheese Danish. I fell back in love with Cheese Danishes. 6. The ladies who work there are Austin off-beat, very nice and, in their own subtle way, strong minded. That is a fine combination. 7) The coffee house concept is very classical. If you want pumpkin maple mocha lattes, go to Starbucks. But they do make five homemade syrups as their one concession to nutso-patootie coffee. One of the flavors is lavender. Lavender is suitable only for sachets, and the liquid soap containers in the bathrooms of people who collect Jane Austen. But the other syrups look interesting and intriguing. 8) Space is the only thing keeping these women from having a great great coffee house. Space is not their fault. There really is not enough room in their fine establishment to allow it to become a major work destination a la Radio on Manchaca or Monkey's Nest on Burnet. Pandemic public health concerns press them even more, giving them one or two dinky purple tables on the sidewalk in front of their store. Their store has a very narrow frontage space. Those tables cram right up against the door and everyone who wants to go in and out of the establishment. So social distancing is not really a viable option if you want to hang out and drink your coffee. Go in - order your coffee - and drink it in your car. But this is some of the best coffee you are ever likely to drink in your car. read more

Very active little coffee shop just moved into the strip mall at William Cannon and Mencheca [sic]. It's between Casa Garcia's and a new liquor store; they converted the laundromat to make two new and fun businesses. Coffee is really great. Breakfast tacos are outsourced and they run out early. Space is small so you might not plan to camp out. read more

I love that Cannon Coffee sells environmentally-friendly, cruelty-free vegan cakes and donuts, but I'm not at all happy that they charge $1 - $2 for non-dairy alternatives in their drinks. Of course, they're not the only ones, but I can't give five starts until non-dairy is equal in price to dairy, especially since 65% of humans are lactose intolerant. Dairy is making people sick and it's only less expensive (sometimes) because of government subsidies. It's not Cannon Coffee's fault, but still can't give 5 stars unless they do something extraordinary like put people and/or planet over profit. read more

Nope. Better off going to Starbucks around the corner. These guys do not know what they are doing here. The place does not feel clean. You can tell their standards behind the counter are very lax. Tacos were cold. Hot tea was burnt and tasted terrible. Latter was asked for cold and they made it hot and forgot the flavor. When trying to ring us up, they might have been new because they could not find a thing on their own menu. Blueberry muffin had 1 blueberry. That's it. Wont be back. read more

I held off on giving the review for a second showing. I always give an establiahment a 2nd chance that maybe the 1st time I came and had a bad experience it was an off day or a one-off situation. Not so much with Cannon coffees flavors. Very weak. The bean, the viscosity, the crema, the bouqet, the sweetness and floral flavor of lavender all were muted, watery, and to sum it up weak. Thats NOT to say it was bad, it was good, but only lacking a notch to be great. I ordered a lavender latte with oat-milk (highly recommend this little lavender n' oat combo, reminds me of strawberry n' cheese, red wine n' chocolate, apples n' cinnamon). By themselves I see lavender as these overly flowery floral scents of essential oils I smell off old ladies on planes and oat milk just sounds like the watery run-off from your 1-minute oatmeal you put too much water in. BUT together bam! It works. I stumbled across this combo on a whim and am for now hooked a bit till I work this out of my system. The latte comes ok hot, like an 130°F as opposed to a preferred 165° to 185°F. I see lots of room for improvement. Nothing bad, only up for Cannon Coffee if they, in my opinion, choise to perfect their profiles and quality of product. I impulsively bought a lemon bar that knocked me off my feet sour-sweet wise. Very good, like only need a nibble per sip of latte good. Toi much and you'll get pucker face. I want to know more about Cannon Coffee's products and processes of curating their coffee and baking your pastries. The website was lacking (5 out of 10) for not having prices (see photo for menu with pricing) and descriptions. I get a feeling of not caring from the lack of information. What bean do you use? Where is it grown? Who roasts it? How is it prepared? Where are you add-in flavors prepared? Etc. I like this place, I will come again for other products to try, but really hope they up their game if even on the information side of my requests. read more

got a peppermint bark latte w oat milk and gahhhdaamnn it was so good! genuinely one of my favorite coffee shops in austin. i've been trying to go around and try shops when i have time on the weekends and this one might take first place. the workers were very sweet as well. the cup is compostable which i thought was a plus as well. my bf got the crème brule cold brew which was also so good. 10/10 would recommend. read more

South Austin has been in desperate need of a non-Starbucks coffee shop and Cannon Coffee fills that void. They serve Cuvée beans and have breakfast tacos, a breakfast sandwich, and pastries - what more could you need? They also have donuts on the weekend. Their staff is always so friendly and helpful, even when I'm indecisive. Their inside space is a little small and the restaurant next door is always busy, so you might not be able to park right in front. I have never found either of these to be real issues though. I have now been here 3 times and I have to say, it's just not my favorite coffee place. While they do have a lot of variety of drinks, each drink I've gotten has fallen flat. I'm not sure if the coffee just doesn't seem strong enough, or what it might be..but from just a simple Americano, or a flavored latte, to a Matcha tea.. Each time the drink has been very underwhelming, and the barista has not been very friendly. They do have taco deli tacos & some breakfast pastries so you can grab some quick breakfast tacos and the parking lot is very large so you have easy parking! You could definitely get a drink here and stay for a while while working or doing homework. read more

Cannon Coffee is my go-to in the area for infusions of caffiene, which in my view is a basic food group. It's quiet, affordable, friendly, with good snacks and great coffee (I just take it black, but there are lots of other options). As I've said in my comments on the internet payment website, Cannon Coffee has 43.2 per cent less strutting and preening than SBUX, and it's a small, neighborhood-based business as far as I can tell. Whenever my wife has one of her appointments in the area, I head directly for this establishment. read more

We happened upon this little gem and have returned several times when in the area. It has become one of our favorite places. They display local artists works which seems to change every so often. They offer Taco Deli tacos, some baked goods and indoor/outdoor seating. Though their espresso drinks are yummy (delicious flavor combinations), we are obsessed with their iced Lavender London Fog. We have been to quite a few places that offer this drink, but Cannon has their recipe nailed down. Their barista, Nicole, is always friendly and efficient. We look forward to our next visit! read more
