I always love coming here, every time I'm in a bad mood or just need some me time I come to this lovely place. Recently I went to one of my neighborhood coffee shops. Their 16 ounce coffee was $10, $10! Here I got my delicious cold brew and a bagel and paid $8. Thank you, captain, quack for not raising your prices ridiculously with the inflation of everything. As always, my day has turned around thanks to Captain quacks! I love this place so very much. My go-to is usually their vegan chocolate muffin. It is insanely delicious and I'm not even a vegan, but it's double chocolate so of course I had to try it. The ambience here is an absolutely awesome vibe I always feel comfortable here with the right blend of people, and the awesome people who work here. I have not eaten inside of CQC but I have picked up some of the most amazing baked goods here! We tried the cinnamon rolls (which are delicious) and different cupcakes. Needless to say I fell in love and have been back since. It is a little pricy but for freshness it's worth it. The guys there behind the counter were super helpful and just as sweet. This is the old Strange Brew and I know it's been a couple years since Captain Quak's opened up but it's my first time since it switched over. Plenty of seating and a full bar inside the stage part. When you enter it's the coffee shop and a nice bakery for a nibble of sweets. A nice bonus is that after 8PM they have a buy one pastry and get one free. That was a nice surprise. A big parking lot with lots of options to park. Several businesses in the strip but none that would have a lot of traffic. It's very nicely put together and I'll be coming back. read more

Came in on a Saturday morning and was surprised to see it so empty. I've heard of great things so I finally decided to try it. I got their winter special drink Miso Caramel Latte and it was really good! The miso did catch me off guard at first but the more I drank I really enjoyed how the caramel compliments the miso in the latte. Captain Quack's is a south Austin staple. They have great coffee, cute and delicious pastries, and one of the best chais in the area. Bonus is they always have fun events going on. I've been to their silent reading nights which are always a cozy blast, and I like to do their Monday night general knowledge trivia hosted by Get It Games! Such a great place to come hang out or do some work. Only downside is there are limited seats in the cafe area, so if there's an event happening you might want to get there early! read more

This is a nice coffee shop that seems to eschew the typical cozy vibe in favor of a more eclectic Austin busy spot. There's a separate room where they hosts a variety of events like trivia, live music, and reading sessions. You don't have to get into any of that, but it's where most of the seating is. The cashiers and baristas are all incredibly sweet and helpful if you need recommendations. They have exactly one item that's both vegan and gluten free. I'm told it's very good, but I haven't had the peanut butter cups myself...yet. I'll probably try to snag one the next time I come in. The bakery is fantastic if you don't have any dietary restrictions. The scones are delightful and the cookies are great, sweet without being cloying and the lovely crumbly texture makes me keep ordering them. read more

I get tattooed at red stag next door and have come in almost 3-4 times a week to get pastries. I love the staff, but was warned to not go there because of the GM, Maria maybe? I finally met her and she was the absolute meanest person I've ever accounted. I spend so much time and money here and after today, I will not be going back. I own and run a large music festival illfest, and wanted quacks to cater our deserts. But unfortunately, I cannot give my money to that person. She is the rudest, most awful person I've dealt with. The staff loves me and knows me, and it all seems they are afraid of her. I'll definitely return here. Their desserts look incredibly delicious, especially the "Eat My Feelings" one, which called to me. I'll have to come back just to try that one out. The cheese danishes we purchased were perfection. I had mine the next day, reheated it, and it was still delicious. The cream in the middle was just right--neither too dry nor too moist--and the Danish part was wonderfully flaky. Not to mention it was also massive. They also host events there, like the lively trivia night we saw during our visit. This place looks fantastic, and I'll be back to try more items from the menu. I've been a customer for 5+ years and the staff are really great. They handle busy crowds really well and make great lattes! I appreciate the alternative milk options, and the pastries, cakes, cupcakes (vegan options available) are super tasty. I came here on a recommendation and I honestly regret it. The coffee had to be sweetened so much just to tolerate it, the tea was crazy watered down that there was no flavor and the cupcake icing was solid as ice with the only good thing about it being its chocolate flavor but that really wasn't enough to save it, and the two women behind the counter felt like the couldn't be bothered. They were so cold to us and I felt super rushed.The moment I walked in, this place was giving off bad vibes. I wanted to like this place so much, it looks like they are very active in their community, they host events, have book clubs and board game nights and all of those are probably really cool! This is a nice little spot, quite far from my normal outings, but I hidden gem nonetheless. This is one of the few times where the service from stood out to me, the bartender was super friendly and easy to talk to you, and it made the experience enjoyable for all of us. Alrighty, here's the rundown: Tis a lovely little place to study and hang with good ol buddies. The coffee is yet to be tasted, but the pastries score well here. I love this place! Drinks are amazing. Baked goods are even better. You can tell their ingredients are high quality. The cocktails are some of the best I've had in Austin! The highball, margarita, and espresso martini are the best I've had in Austin. I've never had a bad experience with the staff or food here. The sound space is a great place to read or work because it's so cozy, but still big enough to accommodate a crowd. The events here are always unique and fun. I like going to the makers markets on Saturday's. We've seen bands here also, and the sound space is 10/10. Trivia is a blast! They have a stage so I would check in advance to see if they have any live music nights to come to. Even though the name and location have changed along with the times, it will forever hold a special place in my heart. Great coffee and a neighborhood feel that can't be beat. I've never actually spent extended time here, but this place too over the space where one of my old haunts was (strange brew). They have lots of tables and games for hanging out with people, and when I came here I got a very large cookie that I really enjoyed. I'm not sure if they still do regular live music a couple times a week but the old stage is still there and strange brew used to do live music evenings so I assume they do as well. The service was also good the time I went. This is def a good place to sit and study or catch up with friends over a coffee, it was quite a popular place back when it was strange brew so I have high hopes this place will remain cool given the legacy of the space. read more

I was super excited when I saw homemade chaider on their menu. I've probably had this only one other time, but if you haven't had a chai and apple cider mixed together, you are missing out! We have purchased a pie and a cake from here verrrrry last minute (one of those times being the day before Thanksgiving) and we were impressed with 1) the amount of choices available, 2) how delicious each pie and cake was, 3) how easy it was to order online and get inventory over the phone of what was left and available. I can vouch that the chocolate crème pie was amazing & delicate and the triple chocolate cake was delicious as we ate every single bite of this cake. Highly recommend both! The patio is friendly and open for you to sit and enjoy your coffee or tea and dessert. I really like the back patio & seating as well if the front patio is not your jam. read more
