I ordered a large sugar-free vanilla iced matcha latte with almond milk, and it was absolutely delicious. Not only was the flavor spot-on, but the size was impressive too. Out of all the coffee shops I've visited in Austin, this place truly stands out when it comes to generous drink sizes. This place is adorable! We were at Nordstrom Rack and wanted to get a coffee before heading home. My fiance found that this shop was near us and we gave it a try. I got a cortado and a mini wedding cake cupcake, and he got an iced brown sugar latte and raspberry crumble mini cupcake. The prices are way more reasonable here than other bakeries and coffee shops. A craving for a sweet treat led my family to Cupprimo - South. We had just visited the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and were looking for a place to pick up some dessert. I browsed Yelp for desserts and came across Cupprimo so we decided to give it a try. The employee who was working (possibly the owner) was really nice and answered our questions about the cupcakes. We stopped by on a Friday evening. They have rotating flavors by day and some of the flavors offered on Fridays were right up my alley. We ordered both mini and large cupcakes. The mini cupcakes are very small (and cute) and can be consumed in 1-2 bites. The large cupcakes on the other hand are quite filling. For the mini cupcakes, I ordered the Blue Velvet and Boozy Espresso Martini. I really enjoyed both. I could taste the almond extract in the Blue Velvet, but it wasn't overpowering. The Boozy Espresso was good, but I couldn't really taste any alcohol. The espresso flavor however was very prominent. For the large cupcakes, my stepdad got the Tuxedo and I got the Tres Leches. Both of these flavors are only available in full size on Fridays. I didn't try any of the Tuxedo, but the Tres Leches was so good!! I really enjoyed it and I liked that it was topped with a strawberry. The large cupcakes had a nice icing to cake ratio and they were moist and fresh. I was worried that the quality of the cupcakes would not be as fresh since we came towards the end of the night, but that wasn't the case! They do offer vegan and gluten free flavors for those with food allergies/intolerances/preferences. Apparently Cupprimo - South has rebranded to Rise Coffee and Bakery. I'm not sure if ownership has changed, but it does appear that the menu has changed. Not to worry; if you're a fan of Cupprimo, the original location in North Austin is still in business. read more

This place has recently rebranded and it's now called Rise Bakery - it has the same soothing interiors and spacious seating. They also have outdoor chairs and tables to enjoy this beautiful change of weather. I had a pleasant experience with the person behind the counter. And I absolutely loved my matcha! Came in on a Tuesday evening, not busy at all. Easy parking and quick service! Very clean and modern space. Room to hang out if you wanted to stay. Loved that they have a 20 oz latte option and a few different syrup flavors to choose from. Suggest getting the mini cupcakes to sample different flavors! Flavors rotate depending on the day of the week with five staple flavors. Favorite today was the chocolate PB by far. Runner up would be the Raspberry crumble. Chocolate Salted Carmel tasted like plain chocolate and the crème brulee tasted very similar to a regular vanilla cupcake, maybe pass on those. read more

I used to live by the original Cupprimo location in North Austin...almost dangerously too close! Now that I have moved further south, it's much harder for me to treat myself to deliciously thick and creamy cupcakes! However, there is a Cupprimo South. It is still a drive, but at a 15 minute drive for cupcakes isn't bad at all! I managed to finally pay a visit last weekend, and it was the perfect treat after a day of frustrations. I went a little non-traditional and opted for the boozy margarita cupcake, only because of the vibrant green hue! The cupcake itself tasted nothing short of perfect, and I actually wasn't sure why margarita was part of the flavor...until about the last few bites. I was instantly hit with that alcoholic flavor as I was almost finishing the cake portion of the cupcake. I wouldn't say that was my favorite part, but I can't say I was surprised. We've tried several of their cupcake flavors and they've all been amazing. We also got our baby shower cake and our daughter's first birthday cake from Rise Bakery, and each one was delicious. I've driven by this place a number of times and finally stopped in to try a couple cupcakes. Service was friendly and quick, and the inside was modern and clean. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. I ended up getting four mini cupcakes and couldn't help but finish all four. Blue Velvet - my favorite! I really liked the almond flavoring and would absolutely get this again. Strawberry - my second favorite! Strong but not too intense strawberry flavor. Reese's Ripoff - tasty blend of chocolate and peanut butter/Reese's. Primo Vanilla - the perfect classic vanilla cupcake. The service was fine, the gal was nice. Ambiance: They played modern music that was not too irritating for this 60-something who only came in for a cup of coffee. Food (actually, drink): I looked at the beverage menu. They had espresso drinks. But, I was really just looking for caffeine (without sugar). Under "Brewed Coffee," most of which were less expensive than most of the espresso drinks, I saw "Cafe Au Lait." A small one was $.50 more than "Brewed Coffee" (the drink, not the category), but I thought "Why not? I like espresso drinks like cappuccino and when I drink coffee at home I usually pour in a bit of milk." Well, it was prepared pretty quickly, but it was just slightly warmer than lukewarm. True, I don't think I've ever ordered a menu item called "Cafe Au Lait" before, so maybe I'm being unfair, but I figure if different coffee shops (I've never been to this one before) can make a cappuccino or a latte that is a good bit warmer than that, it wasn't unreasonable to expect that this would be warmer than what I received. read more

Cupprimo has become my new favorite morning haunt. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgable, and the cupcakes are fabulous! The classic flavors (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, red velvet, etc) are available every day, but they also have a few specialty flavors offered each day and even rotating seasonal options....keeps me coming back so I can try everything! :D I have never been disappointed in a flavor and some have blown me away. The fact that they have mini-cupcakes really makes it for me since I can try more flavors and I really don't want to eat whole regular sized cupcake. Also - their prices are super reasonable.
