What we got this time were the lemon poppyseed and the tropical with pineapple and coconut flakes. Both are just delicious. Their style of cake is dense, but still moist and flavor is incredible. We also got the half dozen mini cupcakes. The standout from the mini cupcakes was the red velvet with cream cheese frosting. Must-try bake shop if you haven't been! We try and pop in before or after swim class with the kids. It's a cute clean shop, it could easily be a fast one stop place for birthday desserts, plates, candles, birthday cards. My kids are prolific frosting eaters. They never really eat the cake- and they're big fans. We get the minis and they enjoy looking in the case and picking their own. I did take one star off because my kids and friends kid were being typical toddlers. They were in a silly post-swim class mood and were giggling and dancing around as we ordered. The staff seemed overwhelmed and I started to feel rushed. I had basic requests, "put one vanilla cupcake in a separate bag as it's a gift. Have passed by a million times and decides to stop in. They have some fun cake related items like fun candles for cakes, including sparkler candles, a few birthday cards and napkins, decorations. They even had a piece of cake dog toy! How fun. So many options for cupcakes and cakes. Any of the cakes on top were able to be served by the slice and it was tempting. I got one Red Velvet cupcake, one German Chocolate Cupcake and one Vanilla cupcake. All of the cake parts were a bit too dry for myself. The Red Velvet was my favorite due to the cream cheese frosting going well with the red velvet cake. The German Chocolate topping to cake ration was a bit much for my taste combined with the cake being dry. The Vanilla one was second and similar to the Red Velvet it was the frosting to cake ratio. I ordered the 6" Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake with sprinkles on top. The next day I went to the bakery to pick it up. The staff was super friendly and have cakes, cupcakes and other treats on display. You can buy a slice of cake too. They also sell accessories like napkins, plates and numeric candles. My order was ready to pickup. I also got a free cupcake for setting up an account and purchased a second one. It was a Chocolate and Vanilla Blue. Both tasted really good with great soft flavor. I enjoyed this cake so much more than I expected. I got a slice of lemon (not pictured) and a slice of strawberry. I don't usually love cakes as they are typically too dry. When I do eat cake I prefer ones that are little more dense with moisture. This cake is very fluffy and airy and I was afraid it would be fried (at least I appeared that way by looking at it). To my surprise, it is delicious and doesn't feel too heavy! The layers of cake and frosting are both thin, so you get a bite of cake and frosting each time. I also hate when frosting is overly sweet--this cake is so well balanced and I don't feel like it's too sweet. They had several varieties of cakes available, all available in different whole cake sizes as well as by the slice. There were also cookies and cupcakes. Was so happy to incidentally find SusieCakes! I was googling places to buy a smash cake for my daughter and found that they sold them here. I called and was helped by very kind staff that were able to help me quickly place my order. When I went in to pick it up the desserts looked so good!!! I ended up leaving with a 4 pack of cupcakes to share with my family. They were all a bit sweet for my taste, even then the strawberry was amazing and my family loved them. It was about $20 for a 4pack of cupcakes and the 4inch smash cake was $35. There's price transparency on their website and online ordering which also helps! I wish the smash cake wasn't as much frosting, my girl ended up only being able to get that since it was about an inch and a half thick, but we still had a great time and I'm glad I was able to pick one up. I really liked that you can get slices of cake a la carte which I feel like you don't see often so that's a plus when you just want to grab a smaller dessert. Ordered the smallest cake for my father's 88th birthday. We got the vanilla celebration cake. It was ok. For $55, I guess I had higher expectations. The writing was not the best and honestly why extra charge for it? The confetti on top was sparce. The confetti in the cake mix was not very obvious either. I'm sorry to say, the Xmas cupcakes purchased yesterday were terrible. The frosting was so sugary your back teeth felt like they'd fall out. It's supposed to be a buttercream frosting, but, it tasted of only sugar. And, the consistency was dense and dry. Really, really bad. The employee was nice and greeted me right away also they gave me some tips on how to store the cake and answered all my questions. I did not like that there was no parking (Austin Bee Cave Location). The only parking was really far and made me nervous as I did not want to drop cake . I had to park up from with my hazards and ran inside store to get cake. I wish this location had reserved parking for Susiecakes pickup only. I had the best time visiting Susie cakes! Employees were so friendly and welcoming, explaining all of their cake, flavors, dessert offerings delivery options, and even a little history about the store! They ship world wide, and have delivery options; you can order ahead for large orders or holidays. There are many different types of cakes, cookies, brownies, and decorations for each. During this fall season, they offered pumpkin cheesecakes which I purchased for Thanksgiving. They even threw in a free whipped cream! I had to pick up the day before Thanksgiving, and totally blanked on the time they at close for the holidays. They gave me a call about an hour before closing and even told me they'd be there a little longer in case I didn't make it by 4 PM. I made it just in time and I was able to get my cake apologize and thank them profusely for reminding me! The next day we ate the cake and it was absolutely delectable!
