My first SusieCakes experience was in San Antonio, TX at the Quarry. I was pleased to learn that SusieCakes are not only in Austin, but in three locations. I visited the relatively new SusieCakes on 6th street, a popular street in Austin. Both their cakes, cupcake ad cookies are outstanding and enjoyable to eat. My cashier was very pleasant and talkative. I ordered a lemon cupcake, which was lemony, light and airy. While the cupcake tasted fine, it was not as dense and moist as the cupcakes in San Antonio. Likely the baker in Austin has a slightly different cooking style than San Antonio. SusieCakes has the same whimsical, barbie caricature like interior. It is also has a bright and inviting persona. In addition, there are cake accessories that you can buy cake toppers and candles. Next time, I am going to try the SusieCakes closer to where I live.

My sweet tooth has an undeniable love for SusieCakes. It's a bond like no other. A bond held together with sugar, spice, and everything nice. Behold the glorious cupcakes that are love frosting, sweet, & decadent all mixed as one. The same can be said for the cakes. Never are they dry but always mouth-watering & moist. Making your brain scream "more". Your lips will never graze finer baked goods. The mocha cupcake has the perfect blend of coffee and chocolate without either being overpowering. The flourless chocolate is mind-blowing. Strawberry as well as peanut butter, out of this world. The frostings...listen, can I just get a container of each with a big 'ole spoon? Life is short, make it sweet.

We were greeted the moment we walked in with a smiling, friendly voice. The counter was filled with a wide variety of desserts that looked fresh and absolutely irresistible! We ordered cookies, cupcakes, and a slice of cake--each slice comes with a tracker, and once you've tried them all, you earn a free 6" cake of your choice, which is such a fun bonus. The storefront was clean, well-lit, organized, and decorated with bright, cheerful colors. One of my favorite touches was being able to see the bakery in action through the viewing window. It's the perfect stop for a quick treat, a date-night grab-and-go, or ordering ahead for pickup. Once we got home and taste-tested everything, my family and I were beyond pleased. Every dessert was moist, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend stopping in--you won't be disappointed!

We stumbled upon this dessert shop while driving and are so glad we stopped! We were warmly greeted and tried a few cupcakes--the red velvet is absolutely to die for. All the cupcakes were dangerously delicious, and this will definitely be a go-to spot whenever we're in Austin. A must-try!

I came to SusieCakes because a cake-obsessed friend - "cake is my favorite food group" she said - recommended it. My friend just had a birthday so of course I drove to SusieCakes to check out some cake options for a birthday gathering for her that evening. It was a last minute decision so I knew I had to choose from what was available, the website warns that many items need to be ordered 24-48 hours in advance, but I thought, if nothing else, I could get some cupcakes or cookies or something. First - GPS tells you to enter the parking lot from 5th street, but when you do that, it looks like you're just at an office building with no bakery in sight. I parked anyway and wandered around and happened upon a SusieCakes employee who led me to the store front so when you come, drive straight into the lot, don't turn right or left, and continue going until you reach the covered parking area, that's the closest place to park to the bakery. You might be able to enter from 6th street but the yellow arrow points outward so it might be a "no entry" situation. (See picture attached) When I got inside, the ladies at the front were so helpful and patient, explaining all the options and prices to me. I could get a small cake, they had several varieties already prepared, or a variety of cupcakes, but the most intriguing option to me was the cake by the slice option. I chose 5 slices, the slices are generous portions too. I went with Candy Cane, Tropical, Lemon, Marble, and Celebration (classic birthday cake). The ladies helping me joked "you've made yourself a flight of cake!" And I'm not gonna lie that sounds like something they should offer! A lil cake sampler. The slices are packaged in their own individual cake boxes and labeled, they travel well, and my favorite part, you leave them at room temperature, you don't have to refrigerate them (if you plan to eat them the same day). I had planned for 5 people but there were nine at the gathering and we all had cake and there was even a little left over! It was so good! I tried the lemon and the celebration, they were moist and delicious! The birthday girl was very happy!

They have a great rewards program! And tons of cake flavors, I ordered the chocolate cake slice and it was a very sizable portion for how much I paid!! Would come back!

Chocolate and Vanilla cupcakes with REAL butter cream

SusieCakes just opened a new location on W6th and we can already tell it's going to be a hit. With Swedish Hill pop-up replacing the larger establishment, SusieCakes offers a second baked goods option in the neighborhood and specializes in the celebratory type sweets. REAL butter cream y'all! Personally, I enjoyed the chocolate over the vanilla; and the frosting is certainly the star. It could've been the batch, but the vanilla was a tad too dry, crumbling a lot.

It's been a while since I've had a SusieCake, but my mint chocolate cupcake was so fluffy and delicious, the perfect cake texture. I would have loved a little more mint in the frosting, but that's just me and the frosting was rich and excellent. It's a surprise to find this new location on the ground floor of a 4-story office building facing 6th across from the erstwhile Z'Tejas, but it's a great location and it looks good inside, fresh & gleaming and nostalgic at the same time. The woman who took my order was so amazingly sweet and kind, had lots of recommendations when asked, and was a joy to order from. I'm so glad this new location is now open!

First time here and it did not disappoint! I tried three different slices of cake - lemon, old-fashioned chocolate, marble. They were all so good! The lemon was not too tart and the buttercream with its little crunchy yellow sprinkles was delicious. The chocolate slice was massive. There were so many layers! It was maybe slightly more delicious than the lemon if possible. The marble cake was something I don't often have and a really nice change. Slices are $8 dollars each which will be the main reason I don't come and get some every day haha. The person that waited on me was super cheerful and made me even more excited to pick up my order. They also have cupcakes, cookies, and misc baked treats. I would love to come back and try one of everything! I will admit that the location is a little hard to find. They do have some balloons in the front off of 6th Street to help with that. The best way to park would be to enter the lot off 5th Street and drive straight back towards 6th and park under the covered area. Other than the location being a little hard to find, and it being a little pricey, this place is fantastic!

I love the green soft chairs, the tables, and the chef statue greeting you as you pull in front of the building. He's right there in the window. The bistro honestly takes your breath away. I love it! So in the last two weeks, I've been back exactly four times. My first introduction was the Croissant Scramble with chicken and veggies inside, with the Arnold Palmer. My friend got the Croissant Scramble with brisket. The presentation of the croissants when brought to the table blew me away. It was wrapped up in the cutest paper with the ends twisted. The topic of conversation was how good the croissants were. Before we left, we ordered some delicious cookies. The chocolate chips were yummy. So I went the following day and grabbed some pastries! One in particular was the Pecan Bar. The following week, another friend and I stopped in for the Chicken Pesto Omelet. I like that the fire-roasted bell peppers and onions are cooked, if that's the right word. But l have to tell you, the Mexican Hot Chocolate drink brings on the flavor, as does the ice-cold Mocha. Of course, we got the Pecan Bar for dessert. So yes, I went back yesterday for the Almond Croissant. I know, I know!

When I arrived, I was told the cake wasn't ready and was asked if I could come back the next morning--which obviously didn't work given the timing of the event. As a substitute, they offered me a pre-made cake from their display case and assured me it was chocolate like I originally ordered, just with a chocolate mousse filling. They refunded me $15 to account for the difference, and I felt pressured to accept since I needed something for the dinner that night. Unfortunately, the situation got worse from there. When we cut into the cake, it turned out to be confetti--not chocolate. Then, when we tried to eat it, it was clearly stale, dry, and inedible. No one touched it after the first bites. It completely missed the mark for what was supposed to be a special moment. What's especially frustrating is that I ordered from them last year for the same occasion, and everything went perfectly--that's why I trusted them again. This time, however, it was a complete letdown from start to finish. When I called the next day to request a refund, I asked to speak with a manager but was told that wasn't possible. Instead, I was told I would only be offered a partial refund because I accepted the replacement cake. I understand that mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability and quality here was really disappointing--especially for something as important as a birthday celebration.
