I love everything about this progressive and inclusive coffee shop! A gathering place for like-minded folks, artists, writers, musicians, and so on. Works by local artists adorn the walls. Beautiful murals inside and outside of the shop. A little library sits in the back with books for folks to peruse over a cup of tea, coffee, or a cocktail. Friends meet up to play board games, discuss the current climate of the country & world, and to just enjoy fellow humans and a great brew. Rad employees who treat customers as friends. It's like walking into a safe haven---for everyone. Cute front porch with limited seating and the tiniest dog park in Texas. The back patio is spacious and provides creek views. Sitting on the back patio surrounded by water, trees, and murals brings a sense of calmness and relaxation in an otherwise crazy world. Very thankful places like this exist. read more

I've frequented this area so much and I've never noticed this coffee shop. I came in on a Wednesday morning and expected it to be somewhat busy. The parking situation is the worst part of it all (and the reason I rate it 4 stars) with very limited parking in front of the coffee shop, everywhere around it has towing heavily enforced. It took me about 30 minutes of doing laps around to find a spot. Once I was inside there was a lot of seating! I got the ube black sesame matcha and it was delicious! I got the biscotti latte off of their fall menu and although it wasn't my favorite tasting coffee, it was pretty good overall. I'd love to come back to try a different fall menu item. The back patio area was also very relaxing to sit and do work and I love all of the nature. They also have free wifi and plenty of space to sit inside as well. The coffee here is really high quality and worth the stop. I also grabbed a croissant that was fresh and tasty, a nice pairing with my drink. The shaded back patio overlooking the creek is the real highlight though, a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy your cup. Honestly my experience here was kind of uncomfortable. I am from out of town and came here alone to sit and read, but I ended up just getting it to go. The vibe of the place is cute, very gothic and quiet! I appreciated the fact it was a safe space for all genders/identities! The workers did vaguely make me feel uncomfortable and were dismissive. They took a while to actually ask me what I wanted even though I was the only person standing there, and were a bit snappy and judgmental. I got that "up down" look and some side eye between the two baristas....? I probably wouldn't come back here as my drink was also expensive and lackluster and the general experience made me feel kind of judged. I got the vibe I wasn't "cool" or "alt" looking enough to be treated with respect and given good service which is such a bummer bc it seemed like a cool place to just sit and hang out. read more

Exceptional experience here! There was only one barista working this morning, but she killed it! She was able to chat and make the coffee at the same time. I noticed she also remembered a lot of the returning customers. Halloween vibes at this coffee shop. I got the macadamia latte with oat milk and it was perfection. The latte had the perfect amount of foam and it was not too sweet, and you can taste the macadamia flavor. My friend got an iced chai which was a concentrated chai with oat milk. Found myself here for a caffeine boost after my stroll in the park nearby on a Monday during my Austin trip a few months ago. Next to the El Primo taco truck, this coffee place is tiny but got personality to it. I dig the wooden counter top finish and the baristas are friendly. A tiny dog park is also in the front and I do emphasize the word tiny. As for coffee drinks, the pistachio latte was my go-to and it was pretty dope with the flavors and milk foam blend. The barista who took my order told me it was one of their best sellers and I can see why after my first sip. I took the beverage to go as I was about to dig in on some tacos from El Primo although a part of me wishes I could've had my drink in the shop and soaked in the atmosphere such as the artwork and flyers plastered on the walls. I appreciate Austin for having a coffee spot like this. Only issue is parking can be difficult due to the lack of spots and availability so you may have to park on the street and walk here which is what I did. We were visiting Austin and needed a morning pick-me-up, so we decided to try out a new coffee shop. First, I will say if you're using google maps to navigate here be mindful that it's leading you to the actual shop, and not a random paid parking lot on a side street! Once we finally found the shop we were surprisingly able to find parking. We went on a Sunday morning, and there were at least 3 parking spots available. We both ordered cold drinks- my partner got a mint flavored iced coffee, and I got a cold brew. My partner really liked his, and it was very unique! Mine was good, but a little more acidic than I prefer. I loved the shop though, and it made me miss Austin so much. The Polaroids of pets, inclusive messages posted with push-pins, the artwork. The baristas were also keeping the vibe up! They'd welcome regulars by name, strike up conversations, and help customers choose their drinks. It was awesome to see that kind of service and community building. Even other customers were interacting. Also- I love that they have little boxes of matches with the name of the coffee shop. Their back deck looked like a great place to read/work, but it rained heavily recently so I wasn't able to check it out. Barista was friendly and the coffee was delicious. Enjoyed our several hours spent working in this lush, green outdoor oasis. Birds were chirping even on a cloudy day. So, I got an iced latte. It was pretty ok, definitely not bad. The back patio is so cute, but inside the vibes are definitely off. I think this place wants to project this inclusive image -- but that's definitely the opposite of what I felt before ordering/waiting for my coffee/after, etc. After leaving, I came to read the other yelp reviews and I was almost shocked by how in-line with my own feelings they were, i.e. a little uncomfortable. My gf and I ordered their specialty lattes including the toffee nut latte and pistachio latte and wow they were delicious ! They also had a selection of vegan blueberry muffins and zucchini bread and we went with the muffins which tasted yummy, and bonus that they were GF and vegan. It was close enough to where we were staying, and it seemed like they had a solid list of choices to choose from. The shop itself is fairly roomy - they have a basic menu on their wall, but they also have a more extensive menu when you go to the register. (Took a photo!) Cafe au Lait (16oz - $3.50, Oat Milk Sub - $0.50) Definitely have had better, but I guess I can't fairly compare to the NOLA version! Tasted like a regular iced coffee with some milk, nothing special. *Note that all their iced drinks automatically come in the 16oz size! Mocha ($5.00) I felt like this wasn't as flavorful as other mochas I've had, but still was an okay drink. The cool thing about this coffee shop was that it also served beer and other alcoholic drinks! They also have merch for you to peruse as you're waiting for your order. Friendly staff! read more

In my opinion, the best coffee shop in South Austin ... and I've tried them all. Love the space out back overlooking Shoal Creek. It's a great place to reflect. I am not a "frou frou" coffee drinker and normally only get a regular coffee there but it is intensely flavored and perfect. Enjoying the Fall weather, we headed over to Once Over Coffee located in South Austin. The interior of the cafe was cutely decorated for Fall and the upcoming Halloween holiday. They had several "spooky" themed caffeinated beverages and even cocktails. We ordered our usual drinks, and then headed outside to their outdoor patio located on the back side of the cafe. The patio had the perfect seating arrangement, that made our beverages so lovely to enjoy while sitting outdoors. Now for the review of the drinks: Upon color, we were both nervous to try the iced chai latte with oat milk, as it was appearing quite watery. After sipping, it was stronger than we thought it was going to be, however, it was still not on par to the level of strength we were hoping for. The patio looked peaceful and would be a great place to visit with friends. I ordered a latte while the hubby ordered an espresso. Both drinks tasted good. Unlike most of the other coffee shops we have been to, this one lacked customer service. The barista was not friendly, bordering on rude. She was very annoyed when the hubby asked a question about what was on bar for espresso. She just told him the name of the coffee and nothing else. She proceeded to take our orders never once smiling, then just swung the iPad around for the hubby to sign for his purchase. We at first thought this was just her attitude, but when a regular came in she was all nice an attentive to them.
