Mexican mocha
Marie N.

There's a few coffee shops on this same street and I decided to try Flat Track next. It has a cool vibe being next to a bike repair shop hence their name. It's also next to a gas station. There's a few parking spots in the front but was full at 7:30am. I saw Mexican mocha $5.50 on the menu and immediately ordered since Mexican mochas are my favorite and you don't really see it too often in menus. I took a sip of my mocha and noticed a strange aftertaste in my throat of almost a burning feeling. I couldn't put my finger on it until after a few sips that it must have been the cayenne which is typically in Mexican mochas but it should usually be a hint of it whereas this one was overpowering and I did not taste cinnamon or nutmeg which is usually the reason why I like Mexican mochas. Sadly will not order it again but would be open to trying their other coffees.

We came across Flat Track Coffee cause we were looking for a place to go to before going to a happy hour at a nearby place, and absolutely loved it!! If you're looking for a coffee shop with all the vibes, this is the place. It's colocated with a cycling shop so you'll see so many different types of people walking in and out. They have plenty of seating inside and the outside patio, so it's a great place to get work done We ordered a macchiato and a cold brew which was really tasty and reasonably priced. The person taking out order asked if we were staying and intentionally gave us glassware so it seemed like they were eco conscious Definitely coming back here

If you enjoy specialty coffee, bicycles, and/or balanced coffee beverages, then you need to go to Flat Track in the East Cesar Chavez neighborhood of Austin. I know I'll definitely be returning for coffee here. They have a small amount of parking spots available directly out front, and it's Flat Track Coffee on the left and then Dogspeed Cycles (bicycle shop & fixes) on the right, with indoor and outdoor seating available on the both sides. They had two different espresso options to choose from, ready to go in two side-by-side Mahlkönig grinders, and I went with the single origin Los Volcanes from Brazil because I love Natural Processed Coffees. They had a more unique espresso machine, and this was my first time seeing the type they use - a mighty Mirage with Veloce side panels - and it did a wonderful job extracting the espresso. I ordered with an Iced Oat Milk S.O. Cappuccino ($7.25) and it was an extremely balanced drink with the oat milk ratio and single origin espresso. It was a pleasant drinking experience, especially on a warm day. I savored each sip, and it was a delightful drinking experience. They sell their retail bags and they have a variety of pastries. The Sour Duck Pastries Butter Croissant ($4.50) we ordered was fluffy, flakey, and overall good, and we recommend getting your croissant warmed up there for peak enjoyment. You can get a coffee while you wait for your bicycle to be fixed, or you can look at the bicycles as you wait for your coffee to be brewed. It seems like many coffee shops in Austin follow the trend of having a business connected to a coffee shop. As far as ambiance, it's both casual and comfortable. Flat Track came highly recommended, from both Nolan & Malayna, and I'm thankful I took their suggestion. Now I hope you take mine, and grab a coffee at Flat Track soon!

We love this spot. We get the oat milk Chingonas and vegan kolaches + vegan coffee cake. Parking may be tricky - you may have to park around the block.

5 out of 5 stars Flat Track Coffee is hands-down one of our favorite coffee spots in Austin. We stopped by on a sunny afternoon and ordered an iced cold brew and an iced macchiato, both were absolutely delicious. The cold brew was super smooth and refreshing, while the macchiato had the perfect balance of espresso and milk with just the right amount of boldness. What really made the experience even better was the Employee who was incredibly friendly and helpful. They took the time to explain the differences between the various drinks on the menu and helped us decide based on what we were in the mood for. It didn't feel rushed or transactional only just genuine and welcoming. They also mentioned there was a back patio, so we headed out there with our drinks. It was such a cool, chill space perfect for hanging out. We took a few pictures, chatted for a while, and really soaked in the vibe. Later, we moved back inside to finish our coffee, and the interior of the café was just as inviting. It's spacious enough that you don't feel crammed in or like your conversation is being overheard, which is a rare find in a coffee shop these days. Flat Track has the perfect mix of great coffee, a laid-back atmosphere, and genuinely kind people. It's a spot we'll absolutely be coming back to, and one I'll keep recommending to friends.

Such a cool vibe. Amazing people. Great coffee. Tasty pastries. It really is that simple.

While the service was a little abrupt (not completely unpleasant, but just a little less friendly & more down to business), the coffee was solid. And if you're a biker w/ a flat tire, well, "2 birds, 1 stone" as they say. Flat Track is on what I'd consider an idiosyncratically "Austin" street corner. On East side on Cesar Chavez, next to a gas station, funeral home, and across from a Korean restaurant & East Coast based design studio, Flat Track makes a pretty good cup a joe and has a hip interior vibe. I order an Americano, which was solid. Smooth, slightly acidic, no bitterness. I enjoyed it overall. My girlfriend ordered a cappuccino, which wasn't her favorite, but I still thought was fine. It had maybe a bit more earthy notes to it, a slight "burnt" note. The coffee & steamed milk combo didn't quite make magic like at some of the best spots, but it wasn't bad in my opinion. We sat outside in their small patio area with a couple picnic tables. On a pleasant day w/ out too many cars on Cesar Chavez it was nice. Some fumes from the neighboring gas station, but they dissipated quickly. They also have an indoor area w/ a couple couches & a space with more tables & chairs. A few people had their laptops out. Afterwards, the bike mechanics generously filled out tires and even adjusted a derailleur that had been misaligned. Thank you, Flat Track!

First off, I love a great coffee shop with its own unique style! It's very eclectic and austiney. Just walking up, you can smell the amazing coffee beans right before you walked in the door. I came in after meeting Coyote (such a cool name) who was standing outside with some delicious smelling cold brew. Coyote told me how amazing the place was and how they worked there, so when I came in for myself, I must say I concur. Great staff, great coffee, great vibes!

Cool fusion of bike shop and coffee shop on the east side. It sits next to a gas station and the outside of the shop feels a little run down/not as clean. The server was nice and knowledgable - which I appreciate. Coffee is super smooth and well rounded, one of the best lattes I have had in Austin. The shop is noisy so if you need to be in a meeting/quiet space- this is not it. I like my coffee shops peaceful and clean so this wasnt entirely my vibe but do check them out for the coffee.

It was okayyy. I thought the inside was pretty cool but the drink were pretty average.

This is a cute little coffee shop/bike store with indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered an iced oat milk latte. I would have liked a small and large option to choose from. They are only sold in ones size and I really wanted something larger. As a side note: People were able to work remotely here. They are also pet friendly which was fun since we got to pet a super cute dog while we waited. There are a few parking spots in the lot as well.

No extra charge for oat milk ... ICONIC! No actually lol it's the little things that make you give a place an extra star and this made me so happy. We got two vanilla oat milk iced lattes and they were great! Super creamy and the espresso had great flavor. Sometimes I get scared when we get big cups because it usually means there is an excessive amount of milk, but they did a great job balancing this. I'm a barista myself so I'm picky with coffee clearly and I really enjoyed this! We also ordered the potato and egg tacos. Great tortillas, spicy salsa was a great touch. They have a great outdoor patio area that is covered with shades and fans. Plenty of outlets for wfh peeps. Overall, great vibe and service!

I will always talk about the importance of balancing the espresso, syrups, and milk in a latte, and Noble Joe does it better than most brick and mortar coffee shops I have been to in Austin. It is significantly flavorful while still being espresso forward. I was genuinely impressed, which is hard to do after being the wreck I was post run. If you are on the trail, it is worth the detour.
