Ok I completely understand the hype. My husband and I went this past Saturday prior to the deep freeze thinking since most people were probably hibernating this would be the best time to check it out. There was only a line of 3 people when we went so we made the right call. The shop itself is very aesthetically pleasing - beautiful chandeliers, open glass, and modern arches everywhere. Plenty of chairs to hang out though wouldn't recommend as a place to study as even the day we went it was pretty crowded and most seats were taken. I got the banana cloud matcha and oh man the matcha was smooth, the banana cloud had just the right amount of creamy texture without being overly sweet and definitely is banana flavored. Note most of their matcha drinks are iced and I was worried that it would water down the flavor of the drink, but it did not. My husband got a special off the January menu the chai and was impressed as he said it wasn't overly sweet and spiced well. They do offer bakery items though we didn't try any. We came on a Saturday evening and they took forever to make our drinks, so just be prepared for a wait if you're heading there on a weekend. We ordered a large iced Cookies n Dream Latte with espresso ($6.80), oat milk ($0.85), and the dairy free cloud to share and it was honestly better than I expected. THE BIG: Located on South Congress right next to the Hopdoddy. Very on brand with the minimal yet maximal yellow decor inside. Street parking or garage in the back. THE BLACK AND WHITE: Geez, the line when we got here was out the door and curving around the corner. Fortunately it did move pretty quickly but i'm surprised they haven't opened up a second store in Austin. It took us about 30 minutes to grab our drink on a Saturday morning. The wife got a banana cloud latte, and I got the Lavender bloom. The banana cloud latte is amazing and i understand why people get it. They say we spend most of our lives waiting and this is in fact the case here. I thought the hype would have died down by now but boy was I wrong. If you don't mind waiting to get into the store, then waiting in line to order your drink, and then waiting in another line to grab your drink this might be worth trying for you. They do have online ordering but if you're far enough at the back of the line, you wont see the sign until you're closer to the front of the line. All of the waiting and crowds for sure took away from the experience for me. The store inside is nice and bright with yellow and white and merch but the atmosphere itself isn't warm at all due to the busyness of the establishment and the employees being preoccupied. Even if you wanted to pop a squat and enjoy your coffee there, you'd need to fight for a table. Music was playing but I feel like something else is needed as far as entertainment during the dreadful wait. I ordered a Strawberry Chai Cloud Latte with vanilla in a size small because I wasnt sure what to expect. I'm typically a vanilla chai girl so some strawberry wouldn't hurt. After the first swig or two, I was kind of upset with myself because it was actually good! I should've went all in and got the bigger size especially after such a long wait. Parking is expensive- $25 near the store. The staff yell "I love you upon exiting". My review: I asked for no ice & received tons of ice in my drink. We stopped by for a much needed cold drink. We came around 12pm and there was a line out the door! They control the line and how much people can go in at a time. The interior was fairly large but they want a consistent flow and not just have the door wide open the whole time. There was about 15 people ahead of us before the front door and probably 8-10 people in line indoors. The wait from order to get our drinks took about 35 minutes. They had only 1 cashier and about 7 people making drinks/getting the food orders. I ordered a medium strawberry cloud matcha with soy milk ($6.75+ $0.85 for the soy) and my friends got a medium Keith Lee latte with soy ($7.80 + $0.85 soy)and medium matcha chai latte with soy ($6.75 + $0.85 soy). We also got a chocolate chip cookie ($6). The strawberry cloud is made of heavy cream. Slightly sweet but not too bad that you feel like it's pure sugar. The matcha was good but it didn't seem very strong from other matcha's I've had before. It could have been the overpowering of the strawberry cloud tho. But together it was a nice little cold treat. The matcha chai latte was okay. My friend kept saying that it was "spicy" from the cinnamon. In theory it sounded nice, but for some maybe too much. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious! I have been wanting to try La La Land Kind Cafe on South Congress since they opened several months ago. I came to their grand opening celebration and the line extended down Congress and past the South Congress hotel. I have yet to find a time to visit the business where there is not a long line. This time was no different, but the line was luckily indoors with AC this time around. We probably waited for around 30-40 minutes in line before we were able to place our order at the counter. This gave me time to change my mind on what I wanted to order at least 5 times. I like the mission that is behind the business to provide valuable support and opportunities for fostering youth and individuals in need and the fact that they offer paid internships to help youth transition from foster care to adulthood. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I ended up ordering the Lululemon Chai latte which was golden chai infused with golden saffron and vanilla bean. We then waited another 20 minutes for our drink to be prepared. My drink had a bit of a bite to it so I probably would not order this particular drink again and was a bit disappointed to wait almost an hour and not be satisfied with the flavor of my beverage. I did see many other items on the menu that I would be interested in trying including the signature coolers. I love the ambiance and vibe of the store with the pastel yellow and all the fun messages like "be kind" and "love you so much" on the drinks. I was so excited to use my $50 gift card here. I first attempted on the Sunday during ACL Weekend 2, which was probably a bad idea. I'm glad I lucked out with no line on a Wednesday night. A lot of couples and young folks were probably coming from work or classes up the river at UT. My barista was Serenity who was super friendly! I ordered the banana cloud chai and original avocado toast. My order came out within 10 minutes. I loved the chai, but the toast missed the mark. While I did like the huge amount of avocado and the actual toppings, the bread underneath was burnt on the crust which isn't my favorite. I do think the bread they choose is healthier than white bread, so I guess there's that. The oat milk creamy texture mixed well with the banana flavor. Plus it came with a heart shaped straw - perfect for Valentine's weekend. On a cloudy Saturday afternoon, I went to La La Land with a friend. When we arrived, I was surprised to see a line stretching out the door--the place is clearly extremely popular and highly hyped. There were a lot of Disney products for sale, though I couldn't quite understand the connection between La La Land and Disney. The abundance of hard plastic used for the various fancy designs and products stood out to me, creating a noticeable amount of plastic waste. Some customers received gift bags, possibly as part of a promotion or for ordering a special drink, but overall, it seemed like a lot of unnecessary waste and clutter. We waited about ten minutes before we could order, which wasn't too long, but it felt longer since it was just inconvenient to stand around without proper seating. When we finally got our drinks, we had to sit outside. Even though the sky was overcast, the Texas humidity made it uncomfortable. I wasn't very hungry, so I skipped the food and ordered the strawberry cloud mocha. The drink came with a strawberry foam on top. While the foam was flavorful, the matcha itself was watery and lacked taste, likely diluted by the ice. Mixing the foam and the matcha was necessary to get any flavor, but doing so ruined the aesthetic of the drink. It was disappointing because both components should have had flavor on their own. Overall, the drink was mediocre and not worth waiting in line for. The most memorable moment of the visit was when a guy riding his bike saw the long line and shouted, "It's just coffee!" Everyone seemed to understand that they were waiting mostly because of the hype and the novelty, rather than for anything particularly special. Man this place is GOOD. I had the strawberry cloud latte and my sister had the banana cloud latte - both iced! Well WOW i'm so glad we got to try both but i can't decide which one was better. Maybe the strawberry one? Honestly both worth trying! We also shared the M.A.K.A. toast and the burrata avocado toast. I preferred the avocado but my sister preferred the MAKA (almond butter berries etc). The parking here is horrendous though. The street parking is super difficult to find and always taken. We have ordered the French toast late and the strawberry einspanner with the match\strawberry treat. The drinks were delicious with a sweet and salty profile. From the strawberry einspanner, it has a light strawberry taste which was nicely paired with the coffee. Matcha and strawberry treat was delicious. It had a lot of strawberries within the dessert and the matcha had bitter, yet sweet taste. It was a nice experience here, but there were a lot of flies and small black flies. I saw some small flies in the dessert cabinet which did turn me off on buying anything from there. Once the fly problem is solved, I would raise to 5 stars. read more

I was skeptical given that this place had a line out the doors for weeks after opening and it was all over my tiktok with influencers' reviews but I'll tell you I think it's definitely worth it now that the line has died down! I had tried to get in when they did their soft opening and the line was insane. Plus it was raining so I decided to try another day. The name La La Land represents a dream world. A place where you walk in and feel a true sense of joy for life. A place where you are loved for who you are. A place that brings together all human beings. A place where kindness is priority. The minute you walk in you are greeted almost immediately and by not one but several staff members. That was a huge plus for me. I ordered the Upside Down Iced Latte with Espresso vs Matcha and it was sooooo delicious. It wasn't until i was about half way through my Latte when the sweet side of my concoction hit me. My brother, an LA native, raved about this spot, so I was excited to see it open in Austin--especially knowing it supports youth aging out of foster care, a cause close to my family's heart. When in South Congress, it is mandatory to make a stop at La La Land! I have heard so many great things and I definitely needed to check it out for myself. When we got there, the line was out the door and took about 25 minutes until we got to order. The inside was decorated so aesthetically and pleasing to the eyes, it's clear that the attention to detail is THERE! We ordered the banana chai latte and the charli's cookie butter matcha cloud latte and they were both really delicious! I had also ordered with oats milk, but they had messed it up and it was a bit too busy to ask for a remake and I also asked for less ice but it seemed like the same amount.
