Save yourself the time and order ahead. I have been hearing about this place for quite some time and thought I would give it time for the hype to die down- well it's about a year or more later and the place is still packed. Staff was working hard to keep things moving. Very moderen inside and out. Lots of unique options. I tried the banana latte which I thought would be more banana flavor but it really just tasted like a sweetened latte- only caught the banana flavor towards the end of my drink. Will definitely be back by to try more options!
Service was quick, line moved quickly and the drinks were ready good quality and extremely tasty! I ordered the Keith special matcha and a cookies and cream iced latte. Both were 10/10. I wish I had one closer.
Oh La La Land. It's the perfect visual for the new Soco in the post COVID era. As a former Soco resident, corporate branding and social media pop ups seem to thrive in this area. Long gone are the mom and pop shops, but there are plenty of coffee shops to grab a quick drink. Unfortunately, La La Land is not one of those. I tried 2 drinks and while the drinks were tasty--they were definitely on the sweeter side. If you don't want your coffee to taste like coffee, this is a happy medium. The drinks however, were in no way worth the one hour wait. It happened to be an extra hot day and while I avoided having to line up for a drink outside, the wait inside was just as crowded, humid, and miserable. I was excited to only be third in line yet somehow I still waited just a little over an hour for 2 drinks. Had I known how long the drinks were going to take, I wouldn't have ordered. It seems that even the people ordering ahead were waiting for what seemed like unreasonable amounts of time. This is in no way shade to the employees working there. They were super friendly and seemed to be working expeditiously despite the line outside of the building. I genuinely think they need a bigger location if people continue to order drinks as they have been. I know it's a good sign of business to have a line outside of the door, but it's generally a bad sign of business to expect your customers to wait more than an hour for a couple of drinks. Luckily, it's SOCO and plenty of treats and things are nearby. We were able to temporarily escape to the gelato shop nearby, which was surprisingly empty and had really cool A/C. If you are tempted to buy a drink, I'd recommend ordering plenty ahead OR avoiding ordering on the weekend entirely. I can't imagine waiting outside in the Austin heat during this time of year.
It's so cute! I want to go back and try their other fun flavors and food. The guy working the cash register was grumpy and seemed like he hated his job though...
I placed an order via UberEats as they were just added and it was amazing. Unfortunately, I haven't tried visiting a location in person because of the lines. I ordered the banana cloud latte, the truffle burrata toast with chili oil, and the chicken sausage cheese sandwich. I'm truly amazing at the packaging and the attention to detail provided by the employees at this location. It truly put a smile on my face!

We ordered a large iced Cookies n Dream Latte with espresso ($6.80), oat milk ($0.85), and the dairy free cloud to share and it was honestly better than I expected. The top is finished with crumbled Oreo cookies that add a satisfying little crunch to every sip. The sweetness was spot on too so it was a well-balanced drink.

The cups themself appear to be reusable with little heart shaped straws but I didn't keep mine. You can also grab a free reusable bag on your way out. Was it worth the wait? Will I return again? Maybe on a cold day when a hot drink is really needed and everyone is home.

Plenty of chairs to hang out though wouldn't recommend as a place to study as even the day we went it was pretty crowded and most seats were taken. I got the banana cloud matcha and oh man the matcha was smooth, the banana cloud had just the right amount of creamy texture without being overly sweet and definitely is banana flavored. Note most of their matcha drinks are iced and I was worried that it would water down the flavor of the drink, but it did not. My husband got a special off the January menu the chai and was impressed as he said it wasn't overly sweet and spiced well. They do offer bakery items though we didn't try any. Parking wise no real free parking unless you come before the meters start. Otherwise it's all paid street parking.

Friendly place Wanted to check all the hype about it. Aesthetics are 10/10.Prices to match the IG vibes. Got a medium cloud coffee iced banana drink with coconut milk ( i can't do dairy). Set me back about $8.00. 1st sip. Very creamy banana forward and very silky and smooth. Not watery. I would have sworn I was drinking cow milk it was that creamy. Reminds me of the iced drinks at 85 degrees.. but the espresso roast is definitely very mild and not acidic like Starbucks or asian coffee houses that do cloud coffees. Would I get it again? Nope. Was it worth going to get it. Yup 8/10. Go check it out. Great to people watch as always on Congress. Take a date there. Yourself on a splurge. The cups and lid are nice touches. We stopped by for a much needed cold drink. We came around 12pm and there was a line out the door! They control the line and how much people can go in at a time. The interior was fairly large but they want a consistent flow and not just have the door wide open the whole time. There was about 15 people ahead of us before the front door and probably 8-10 people in line indoors. The wait from order to get our drinks took about 35 minutes. They had only 1 cashier and about 7 people making drinks/getting the food orders. I ordered a medium strawberry cloud matcha with soy milk ($6.75+ $0.85 for the soy) and my friends got a medium Keith Lee latte with soy ($7.80 + $0.85 soy)and medium matcha chai latte with soy ($6.75 + $0.85 soy). We also got a chocolate chip cookie ($6). The strawberry cloud is made of heavy cream. Slightly sweet but not too bad that you feel like it's pure sugar. The matcha was good but it didn't seem very strong from other matcha's I've had before. It could have been the overpowering of the strawberry cloud tho. But together it was a nice little cold treat. The matcha chai latte was okay. My friend kept saying that it was "spicy" from the cinnamon. In theory it sounded nice, but for some maybe too much. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious! Not sure if it was because I was hungry but they did warm it up and it hit the spot. Chewy, chocolately goodness. And it was fairly large which was great considering it was on the pricer side. Overall, good matcha, not the best I've had. Not sure if I'd wait in line again for it but maybe I'll order ahead next time if I'm in the area. read more

I have been wanting to try La La Land Kind Cafe on South Congress since they opened several months ago. I came to their grand opening celebration and the line extended down Congress and past the South Congress hotel. I have yet to find a time to visit the business where there is not a long line. This time was no different, but the line was luckily indoors with AC this time around. We probably waited for around 30-40 minutes in line before we were able to place our order at the counter. This gave me time to change my mind on what I wanted to order at least 5 times. I like the mission that is behind the business to provide valuable support and opportunities for fostering youth and individuals in need and the fact that they offer paid internships to help youth transition from foster care to adulthood. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I ended up ordering the Lululemon Chai latte which was golden chai infused with golden saffron and vanilla bean. We then waited another 20 minutes for our drink to be prepared. My drink had a bit of a bite to it so I probably would not order this particular drink again and was a bit disappointed to wait almost an hour and not be satisfied with the flavor of my beverage. I did see many other items on the menu that I would be interested in trying including the signature coolers. I love the ambiance and vibe of the store with the pastel yellow and all the fun messages like "be kind" and "love you so much" on the drinks. Overall a bright, cheery and fun vibe to the store but wish the drink had tasted better. I think it is more about the experience than the food/beverages. read more

Crowded but you can beat the line by ordering online. Very cute inside but we sat outside due to crowding. Your order may not be ready at the time you put for pickup, so just order earlier than you actually want it. The banana cloud matcha is so worth the hype as someone who has had a lot of matcha. It wasn't too sweet and the matcha wasn't too overpowered by the banana. read more
I was so excited to use my $50 gift card here. I first attempted on the Sunday during ACL Weekend 2, which was probably a bad idea. I'm glad I lucked out with no line on a Wednesday night. A lot of couples and young folks were probably coming from work or classes up the river at UT. My barista was Serenity who was super friendly! I ordered the banana cloud chai and original avocado toast. My order came out within 10 minutes. I loved the chai, but the toast missed the mark. While I did like the huge amount of avocado and the actual toppings, the bread underneath was burnt on the crust which isn't my favorite. I do think the bread they choose is healthier than white bread, so I guess there's that. Their menu is surprisingly extensive and I look forward to my return and to try two (or more) new items when I'm more hungry! read more

When something new opens, I'm never the first to line up--actually, I'm not one to line up at all. I value my sanity and time too much. Instead, I wait a few months until the reviews flood in and the hype dies down. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely. I got the Strawberry Cloud Latte-- matcha with strawberries, and it was creamy and earthy tied with the perfect amount of sweetness from the strawberries. I'm a sucker for good branding and La La Land is nothing short of cute merch. When you leave, Chick-fil-A says "My pleasure," but La La Land says "LOVE YOU." A little strange... but kind of sweet. read more

Truthfully I wanted to hate this place because of the long lines and viral-ness of it all (lol) but this banana milk is innovative sweet deliciousness and we were in love!!! I preferred the matcha with banana milk over the coffee variety! Very modern interior, probably not the place to sit and work or hang. On a cloudy Saturday afternoon, I went to La La Land with a friend. When we arrived, I was surprised to see a line stretching out the door--the place is clearly extremely popular and highly hyped. There were a lot of Disney products for sale, though I couldn't quite understand the connection between La La Land and Disney. The abundance of hard plastic used for the various fancy designs and products stood out to me, creating a noticeable amount of plastic waste. Some customers received gift bags, possibly as part of a promotion or for ordering a special drink, but overall, it seemed like a lot of unnecessary waste and clutter. We waited about ten minutes before we could order, which wasn't too long, but it felt longer since it was just inconvenient to stand around without proper seating. When we finally got our drinks, we had to sit outside. Even though the sky was overcast, the Texas humidity made it uncomfortable. I wasn't very hungry, so I skipped the food and ordered the strawberry cloud mocha. The drink came with a strawberry foam on top. While the foam was flavorful, the matcha itself was watery and lacked taste, likely diluted by the ice. Mixing the foam and the matcha was necessary to get any flavor, but doing so ruined the aesthetic of the drink. It was disappointing because both components should have had flavor on their own. Overall, the drink was mediocre and not worth waiting in line for. The most memorable moment of the visit was when a guy riding his bike saw the long line and shouted, "It's just coffee!" Everyone seemed to understand that they were waiting mostly because of the hype and the novelty, rather than for anything particularly special. Ultimately, the experience felt more about being able to say you had a drink from La La Land than about the drinks themselves. read more

Came here after a run club celebration and had to see what all the hype was about. Matcha galore. Atmosphere: Light, airy, and unapologetically cheerful. Big windows, clean lines, and those sunny accents that basically tell your brain, "hey, relax. Plenty of spots to camp with a drink if you're meeting a friend or just scrolling. Food & Drink: I went in for the most "instagrammable" choice which I think was the Keith Lee Matcha Latte. Definitely if you have any matcha craving with a side of sweet tooth then you will find the fix here. The Keith Lee drink had that stylish look along with their signature matcha flavoring. Service: I do have to dock one point in saying the employee at the register was a bit stand offish, however everyone else was great. A crazy thing happened during my visit where an emergency area needed to be blocked off by all the other employees were attentive and helpful in trying to direct everyone through the chaos. Also bonus to the greeter employee, she recommended some great choices for first timers. Bright space, upbeat energy, and drinks that hit the spot once you dial sweetness to taste. It's an easy "yes" for a feel-good coffee stop when you want more than the usual chain experience. Tip: Order Online if you want to avoid all the waiting. read more

New spot that opened in south congress this summer! Came by on a Sunday at 10:30 AM in September. The line was just outside the door around the corner, and we waited about 45 minutes until we got our drinks Staff was friendly and gave my friend a pup cup and bandana for her dog!! Got the Keith Lee Matcha, which had a strawberry and matcha foam. Sweet and refreshing matcha flavor!!! The La La Latte was also sweet! Both with oat milk Plenty of cute seating and natural lighting. I was in Austin by happy accident and just happened to walk past a line in front of La La Land! Wow! First of all, the line moved fairly quickly and the staff was super friendly. The Matcha Cloud Latte? Ceremonial-grade goodness with a nutty twist and just the right sweetness. I got it with whole milk and was very impressed with the taste. The inside has minimalist decor meets sunshine yellow touches = instant mood boost. The spot's totally walkable which is a breezy choice for a caffeine fix! read more

Heard about this place and its hype at its other locations, so decided to give it a try. I got there and the line wrapped around the building! I thought, "this is probably really good because of this line." The line was pretty long but I held out hopes anyway. It was busy but cute inside. Went to order and they were friendly and quick. I got the Keith Lee made w soy milk. The drink came out pretty fast and neatly crafted. I was very impressed from the drink. The matcha was high quality grade and the flavor was well balanced. Not too sweet, but flavorful and I didn't do any sweetness adjustments. The foam was a great touch and the strawberry on top was great. Honestly, this was the best matcha I've tried in Austin area period. This lands on my top 3 matcha places I've tried in my life period. Would recommend! read more

Must visit if you have time! We're from LA and we're so happy they opened one closer to us. Came for the Mickey collab, and lines get nuts if you don't get there early enough but it's worth the wait. Highly recommend the Banana Cloud w/ Chai! The wife loved her Pumpkin drink that was limited time from the fall menu so make sure you ask for specials. Bonus for the munchkin that comes w/ the la la mini meal. Kinda wish they were able to sell the merch that was on display. Not much space for waiting for orders or seating, awesome Disney music and cute decor. Super friendly staff and attentive to each & every order. Will def be back! read more

First time at La La Land and I loved it!! The line goes fast if you're wondering too. I ordered the banana cloud latte with oat milk, really enjoyed this drink. The oat milk creamy texture mixed well with the banana flavor. Plus it came with a heart shaped straw - perfect for Valentine's weekend. Then my friend ordered a strawberry cloud matcha with whole milk which was also delicious when I sipped hers. I took a strawberry pop tart pastry to eat outside and it tasted like it had real fruit in it. Really nice seating avaiable both inside and out. 5 stars from me! read more
I was skeptical given that this place had a line out the doors for weeks after opening and it was all over my tiktok with influencers' reviews but I'll tell you I think it's definitely worth it now that the line has died down! I ordered the Keith Lee Latte (Matcha with strawberry) and my friend ordered the Banana Cloud Latte. We both throughly enjoyed them! As people who try matcha all around town, this is definitely going near the top of our list! We came on a week day around lunch time and there some people working from the tables and others just enjoying their coffee and food. There's lots of seating but I can see it getting crowded and people having a hard time finding seating. We waited for a table to clear up (only about 5 min). read more
