I was really excited to have a coffee, matcha, and study spot right where I lived on Rainey Street, but unfortunately, Daydreamer didn't quite win me over, even with the convenience. The matcha didn't taste especially high quality or well whisked, and the drink came across as flat and watery. They do offer plenty of fun flavors, and the drinks are very aesthetic, so it may still be worth stopping by if you're looking for something cute to photograph. Personally, though, I much prefer the matcha at Blue Grocery just around the corner. Overall, Daydreamer seems best suited for studying or grabbing a quick caffeine boost without expecting too much from the flavor. read more

Their matcha is bad. I have to get that off my chest first. It's pretty terrible. I ordered the Blueberry Dream Matcha with coconut milk. I felt like I was just drinking an incredibly sweet blueberry milk. The coconut completely overpowered the taste of matcha. I think I took at most 4 sips before I inevitably threw it away. That being said, I still give this place 4 stars because the space is just that nice. It is a fantastic space to work. There are lots of seats and huge tables upstairs with outlets. The wifi is stable, the service is very friendly, and they play good music. I'll stick to the coffee and continue coming back. read more

The drinks were good, but the service leave little to be desired. Upon arriving we sat at the bar. No greeting, no one ask if we needed assistance. Another group walked in and were served ahead of us. We had to get their attention while they stood around talking to request help. They made our drinks and then set them on the opposite end of the bar and called out our name for us to walk over and pick them up, instead of simply turning around and handing them to us at the bar where they make the drinks. The young lady who took our order Celina S. was just coming on shift and not part of the ineptitude of service. The location and general vibe of the place was great. When I said Desnudo has competition I was talking about this place. I didn't even try the whole menu and don't think you can go wrong with anything on there. I got a berry fields latte, my date got the sugar graham latte (holiday menu) and I also got a cinnamon roll. Wow wow wow! The space itself is great with inside (there's an upstairs lounge too) and outside seating. Versatile space for hangout with friends or working. Now the drinks! Worth the price. Was afraid the berry latte was going to taste artificial and overly sweet, but NO. Strong enough of a flavor to taste, but not overpowering. The cold foam was a wonderful way to top it off. Rating: 4.5/5 Service is great, the staff is friendly, and the vibe is chill as always. We ordered an iced 16 oz Mindful Matcha ($7.25) and asked to swap the coconut milk for oat milk, which was a total game changer. The first time we had it with coconut milk, it wasn't great, but this time we really enjoyed it. The drink was well balanced, the strawberry syrup tasted better, and the little strawberry seeds added a nice bit of texture. The sweetness level was just right. That said, the matcha flavor isn't very strong, so matcha fiends might find it a bit underwhelming. read more

Daydreamer is one of the prettiest coffee shops that I've been to in Austin. It's also a bit bigger than expected. There is a good amount of seating (inside & outside), great for party of ones and big groups. They have two big (and comfortable) booths. Happy to report that it's not just a cute place, but the coffee is good too. I got the cookie butter latte with oat milk. I didn't get a strong cookie butter flavor, but it was still good. The cookie crumbs were plentiful and tasty, but most of them sank. They also sell Veracruz tacos! I got a bacon, egg, & cheese taco (solid). My barista was also super kind and warm. Two months ago my dear friend and I met for coffee. Daydreamer was where we met. Time was 9am and the doors were locked. We waited a bit. The doors opened after we moved on to an open cafe. We met again today at Daydreamers and the same thing happened. We were more generous with our wait time but they did not open at the posted time so once again our business went to a neighboring cafe. As cute as this coffee shop looks we will not be giving it a third try. The hours posted on the door need to either be adjusted or the opening staff need to work on punctuality. read more

Cute ambience and loved the true coffee bar that you could sit at and watch the magic happen. The staff were helpful and assisted me in finding something I may like. The menu looked enticing and close to my hotel so I came. The inside is beautifully decorated and feels curated. The staff was kind and prompt with drink orders even with a line to the door. The upstairs is the place to be in my opinion, I love the option of seats that this place offers. I got the iced Neapolitan latte and it was well worth it, you get every flavor but not enough that it overpowers the coffee flavor. Would definitely recommend to a friend and come back to try more drinks. read more

As I stirred about this morning, my expectations of the day were dull at most. The one thing, I hoped, that would bring cheer into my lackluster day would be a nice hot coffee. And boy, did Daydreamer Coffee deliver! The baristas, Mara, Cydni, Zemi, and Cecily brought a vibrant ray of sunshine to the cafe. Their wonderful service was vital to the environment, their personalities perfectly complimenting the beautiful decor. My only complaint is how over-caffeinated I got-- the one down-side to having such delicious coffee! The super nice barista suggested getting the sugar graham latte half sweet, and I'm glad she did! It was delicious and would have definitely been too sweet fully loaded. I'll preface this with I'm a coffee fanatic and it is a priority when I'm on the road to find a good coffee shop. I've also had really good coffee from this shop in the past but this morning was unpleasant. The barista making my cappuccinos couldn't care less. Acted like making the drink was the last thing she wanted to do. She just dumped the over heated milk into the cup.. I think whether it's to go or to stay it should be made the same and look the same. It tasted milky and bitter. Threw it in the trash. Sad that consistency is not the priority here. Very nice to find this new coffee shop on Rainey. The staff was super friendly, to coffee was great and I enjoyed my Pumpkin Muffin I got. The space inside is gorgeous. Lots of plants and space. Additionally, there is a space upstairs that has chairs and booths and there wasn't a single soul up there. Would visit again. read more

First time here. I ordered a pastry and a hot latte. They hand me the pastry, and then forget my latte. I gave them the benefit of the doubt & waited 20 minutes while others behind me ordered and got their drinks, yet still my hot latte never arrived. It took me approaching them & asking for an ETA only to be told they didn't have the order. They apologized, gave me a lukewarm latte shortly after, and that was that. The atmosphere of this place is nice, but the drink I was eventually given was...mid at best. Mainly, though, no concession other than an apology for an entirely botched order that would have gone unnoticed without me approaching them? I'll update my review if future experiences are better or if they offer some sort of concession. read more

Such a pretty cafe with so much potential. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the behavior of miss Haley behind the counter. She seemed disengaged, made unkind remarks about employees within earshot of customers, and created an awkward environment for everyone present. I just went to this new coffee shop on Rainey at the Paseo. It's a two story cafe and beautiful on the inside. It's the perfect place to bring your laptop and get work done. I got the sugar graham latte, which was excellent. I will definitely be back to try their matcha. read more
