First time visiting this hidden gem in Austin, and it definitely exceeded our expectations! Conveniently located right next to the lake, this spot offers a beautiful deck with a scenic view where you can relax and enjoy your meal. While there was nothing particularly extraordinary about the coffee or the smoothie that looks more like a juice ,we still had a nice time overall. The view was beautiful, and the live music was a really nice added touch that made the experience more enjoyable. The register area could use a little more organization since it felt somewhat chaotic at times, and parking was also difficult to find. Mozart's Cafe was such a pleasant surprise. I stopped by on a Tuesday night because I wanted a hot cup of coffee after dinner, and I was so happy to find a place open until midnight when most other coffee shops were already closed. That alone made it a great find, but what made the experience even better was discovering that they also had live entertainment on Tuesday night until 11. It turned a simple coffee stop into a really enjoyable evening. I ordered a coffee and a brownie, and while the total was a little on the expensive side, around $15 or $16, it felt completely worth it to me. From Chicago, first time at Mozart's today for brunch. Here are my thoughts: -This place is crazy popular! We arrived around 11am on a Sunday morning, very large space and it was packed all morning with people waiting in long lines to order food. -Service was friendly, good, and reasonably efficient. We waited about 15 minutes in line and our food came out in less than 10 minutes. -Outdoor seating overlooks Lake Austin and the atmosphere is fantastic! Lots of collegey students, young couples, families, etc. -They had live music, which had a folk feel. Really nice, not too loud, but certainly added to the cool vibe. -I ordered the chicken empanada, which was larger than I expected, flaky crust--very good. And you get a great view of people out on the river too, to which my friends were watching some SUP yogis balance precariously and eventually fall in. Anyways, the food selection is pretty varied, I usually get a fruit tart and this last time I tried the pretzel bun BEC and it was a chungus delicioso. We visited Mozart's Holiday Market on 12/27 and paid $6 for general admission. The price was fair, but the flow and directions from staff weren't very clear. We were directed straight to the GA bleachers, and not having been to Mozart's before, it was confusing to figure out where to go. We eventually found a site map, but it was hard to interpret when there was such a large crowd. When we finally figured out how to get back over to Mozart's (back over the GA entrance), we got in a line that moved quickly. The Snack, Crackle, Pop had great gingerbread flavor, the Nutcracker's Garden had bright lavender without tasting soapy, and the vegan gingerbread cupcake was delicious. Once the live performance started, the atmosphere came together, and the separately ticketed boat tour was a relaxing highlight. Overall, the boat ride and coffee/snacks really saved the experience for us, but clearer guidance from staff would really improve the experience for first-time visitors. read more

I feel like Christmas time is the best time of year to come because the decor is great and they make great use of lights in their outdoor space. The inside areas are nice as well, but there's way more space outside and it's all pretty clean. The coffee and matcha lattes are delicious, but they are nothing that I would drive out of the way for. It's a good cafe. The pastry case typically has a ton of good looking items, but I've only had the blueberry muffin. It's solid! Someone else has told me that the chocolate chip cookie is good too. The baristas are all nice and fast. They are so great at turning out all the orders they get when the cafe gets crowded. Parking is annoying though, you're best bet is across the street and further down than you'd think you'd have to go. read more

I have several complaints about my experience. For starters, the young staff was very uncommunicative. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt awkward and unwelcoming, which immediately put a damper on our visit. When I went to order, I could barely hear the employee taking my order because she spoke so quietly. After ordering, the instructions for picking up our coffee and cupcakes were so unclear that we had to search around to figure out where they were. When we looked for a place to sit, multiple tables hadn't been cleared, so we ended up cleaning our own table before we could sit down. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing. We ordered the Oreo and strawberry cupcakes, and both were very underwhelming. The frosting had very little flavor, and the texture was off. Overall, between the poor customer service, lack of communication, dirty tables, confusing pickup process, and disappointing desserts, it was not a good experience. I would not recommend this place. AND there was a hair in my cupcake. read more

I just wanna come they understand the meaning of no foam and really deliver a nice well-made latte. Their tiramisu was incredible. Y'all!!! Mozart's has changed so much over the years, as it should evolve. But I was so disappointed last night. It's no longer the experience I enjoyed as an annual tradition with family and friends. We started going after my son and I moved here in 2012. It was all about getting your hot cocoa and watching the light show production at the top of the hour. There was no entry fee or sit-down fee or reservation required. But now... It's $50 to sit in the bleachers or $300 to reserve a VIP table for four. The hot cocoa is a little more than $10 and the light show is gone. We sat there anticipating a light show to begin after entertainment but it never did. The production is now kicked off with a local performer/singer that has a funny style and sings traditional Christmas songs with the twist. Her voice was amazing, But no light show. The mega screen did have some animations that went along with what she was singing but it was nothing special at all. Then when she was done performing there was a weird nutcracker fire show that you either had to get up and go to the ledge to watch on the lake or watch it on the mega screen. This is when the majority of the people got up and left. We decided to sit it out in hopes of a light show. When we saw more people leaving I got up and asked the sound man if there was going to be a light show production, He said no there's about to be a play musical. I was like, okay we will wait. Well, It was not a play musical it was a live band and trained opera singers singing songs about He is Risen , Joseph and Mary and the birth of Jesus. Their voices were amazing but it definitely wasn't my thing. We did finally leave about 10 minutes before the show was over. P.S. It's an hour and a half of singing and a fire show on the lake. All in all I am just so disappointed in what Mozart's has turned into. It's not the same and we won't return. We will more than likely do the boat tour for the lights. Toddy Brau Cold Brew lives up to its reputation. It's among the best cold brew coffee I've had. I got it as part of a Breakfast Combo (for $13) with Vegan Tacos, which were good. So was the Texas Pecan Coffee Cake. The entire cafe is composed of wood construction, in a style that reminds me of an English pub. There is a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options. I like the view overlooking the river. This place filled up fast with customers on the Saturday morning of my visit. There are plenty of items available in the gift shop, including apparel, mugs, and different varieties of coffee beans. I look forward to trying more items from their menu in the future. read more

Glad to see this remnant of old Austin still thriving and going strong, even after all the past decades! Spent many days studying here in my undergrad years at UT, so many wonderful memories. The view is beautiful and serene - with a different vibe depending on the time of year you are are here. My favorite time is the fall, when you can see the colors of the leaves changing. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. It's a good mix of students, locals, and tourists. Oh, and I've never been disappointed by their coffee, and the staff/baristas are alway so friendly. Place is popular and can get busy, but there is a good mix of nearby free and paid parking, and never have had issue eventually finding a spot. No trip to Austin is ever complete for me without at least one coffee break at Mozart's :) read more

Vibes aren't the end-all, be-all of coffee shops, but they truly can make or break a place. I've been to coffee shops with decent coffee, but the vibes were so outlandish I've yet to return. I've also been to shops where the coffee tasted like water and burnt beans, but the place was so welcoming I've been back more times than I can count. Mozart's might have the best general "vibe" in all of Austin. Located by Lake Austin at Oyster's Landing, it already gets brownie points for being near a body of water. What increases my productivity? Energy. Whether it's the music I'm listening to, the people around me being locked in, or just the motion from passing cars and pedestrians, that feeling of movement helps me focus. Water is definitely a relaxing element to be near. People relax at the beach or on a day out on the water. Being able to work and lock in by the lake makes Mozart's a serious contender for best coffee shop atmosphere. There is plenty of outdoor seating, and the indoor seating has large windows to maintain that lake-side feeling. The longer I sat outside, the more I felt like Lyle Lovett wondering what life would be like if I had a boat just to park at Mozart's and get coffee. Now, the coffee in question is decent. Nothing extraordinary, nothing mind-blowing, but it's solid. It's not overtaking any of my power rankings for coffee, but it's not making me lose any appreciation for the space either. I also got a premade Italian sub because I was hungry. It was alright as well. From there, I continued to lock in, working on some of my photos in Adobe Lightroom and enjoying the great atmosphere. It was a nice summer day, but getting a hot latte and sitting in the sun eventually made me retreat inside to the "Loft" area of Mozart's, where I was able to enjoy some A/C and still admire the great view of Lake Austin. The service staff was very welcoming and happy to answer any questions we had. The overall atmosphere is chill and inviting. This is a great spot for a date morning, date night, or just hanging out with friends. With so many tables and seating options, you never feel cramped, and whether you choose to sit inside or outside, you're pretty much guaranteed a nice view. There are also a few restaurants nearby if you want to make more of an outing, and parking is free in the lots across the street, which is always a plus. Everyone comes here for the outdoor view even if you turn into a sweaty Betty in the summer. There is a main area where live music plays pretty often. But it gets too loud where you can't really talk there. The better seats are in the sides where there's a better view of the water.
