I was hoping to like this location just as much as when they were a little further west, but there were several misses for me. The breakfast sandwich was supposed to come on ciabatta bread, but it tasted, felt, and looked like a Kaiser roll. Also, they forgot about several drinks we had ordered, and those came out after 3 separate reminders and at the end of our meal, so we had to chug them just before leaving. The interior seating area also was very hot, so it didn't seem like there was any AC or ventilation of any kind inside. The staff is friendly and the food is tasty, when you get it. One of the best things about Cenote for me is that it's just a quick walk from our apartment. We literally have so many incredible options at our doorstep. This is the 3rd or 4th time we've been to the cafe (between this location and the old one) and it's never been a disappointment at all. Food is always fresh, made-to-order from the food truck. They have unique food and drink offerings. Plenty of outdoor seating in front on 7th as well as a side porch and side patio area. Service is fast and friendly. I've been wanting to try Cenote for a while now and while it was decent, it didn't live up to the hype I had in my head. I opted for their 1/2 sandwich 1/2 salad option (which I think all places should offer) and selected the veggie sandwich with the mango fields salad. I really enjoyed the salad but the sandwich was a different story. Flavor wise, it was fine but because they had used every crunchy vegetable known to man (thick layer of carrots, cucumber, and watermelon radishes), my jaw was TIRED of all that chewing! I had to give up eating it towards the end because of how much of a workout it was. I also tried their "I love you so matcha" drink and it tasted nothing like matcha and everything like a strange green juice you would get from a juicery. Overall, I think its a solid spot but I might have gotten the wrong items. I'd come back to try others! read more

First time at Cenote's new location and I love it! It's in a great location however parking is tricky. They have a small lot behind the place in the alleyway. You order at the counter and get a number then find seating yourself. Plenty of seating both inside and out and since the weather was so good we sat outside. I got the 1/2 turkey sandwich with 1/2 ceaser and it was delicious. Loved the pickle. I also got a horchata cold brew that was good as well. Cenote has solid food at reasonable prices too! read more

Great patio and lunch spot! Stopped in mid afternoon for a late lunch and there were so many great seating options and lots of people getting work done. Kinda torn between 3 and 4 stars. They moved locations which is sad as I enjoyed the outdoor space at the location off Cesar Chavez. This one while bigger doesn't have that same vibe. The outdoor area while similar in layout is missing that rustic charm. Inside is set up simply with booths/tables and they do have four bar seats. This is the old Revival coffee by Gabriela's shop so seeing the white walls was shocking. IYKYK Anyhoo, their menu was simple but had good options. Got the OMG breakfast which was filling. The French toast was perfect for size and the sausage was delicious too. Potatoes, the crispy ones, also great. They were seasoned well and I enjoyed the crispy ones better. Eggs were just eggs, nothing exciting. I ordered a drip coffee for $3 and when asked about refills, found out it would be a $1 for a refill. I mean, really? Why not just charge $2 more for unlimited refills? Cause the line is out the door right now and with one register, when would I be able to get a refill and pay for it? They also are using paper plates vs reusable. The restrooms door lock mechanism is just annoying. It's under the door handle and it auto releases when you test it. So how do you know it's locked?!? Not a fan. I will say the bathrooms kept some of the old color flare. lol Hence the reason I decided on 3 stars. This space has got to be big enough for 100 people (inside and out) so to have one register? This was similar to the other location so guess they prefer to have guests wait. If you come early enough, I got there about 11am on a Saturday, you maybe alright. At 11:40, the line is to 7th and has probably 25 peeps in it and growing. read more

Cenote has moved from 1st St to 7th St and it definitely feels different now. The coffee is still excellent and probably the main reason I'll keep coming back. The chilaquiles used to be my favorite but this time the egg came on the side and the paper plates just didn't hold up. For the price I'd like to see it made the way it used to be, so I'll probably stick with coffee and a pastry until they settle in. Service was polite and considerate. My coffee order was a little mixed up but they offered to remake it and made sure I was happy. That goes a long way and I think once the team gets more experience it will be great. The new space has both indoor and outdoor seating which is nice, but the vibe is not quite the same as the old location. It feels smaller and more like a café stop than the cozy neighborhood spot it used to be. read more

Was looking to go to this specific matcha place, but it was closed, so we stopped by Cenote for some matcha lattes. It was good, but it extremely sweet. Don't get me wrong, I love sweets! But I'm used to drinking high grade/quality matcha as is or with minor sweetener as you can still detect the quality of matcha. However, their matcha was so sweet that I couldn't tell, but rather just the sugar. I don't recommend it unless you like your matcha extremely sweet. read more

Cenote is a really cozy spot to hunker down for a nice brunch and study session. Inside is aesthetic, with green wood paneling around the place, and decor to complement the more vintage vibe. Outside is also quite nice, as there is plenty of shaded outdoor seating, which is also shielded from the street noise (although the area already appears fairly quiet). I ordered the BLAT sandwich ($12), and I was very pleased with it. The bread had a nice crispiness, yet not so much that it was painful to eat, which I have had my fair share of before. The bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato all complemented each other nicely (as do most BLTs), and I was satiated after eating it all. My friend ordered the Avocado Toast and had only glowing things to say about it, claiming that it was the best avocado toast that she has ever had. To top it all off, the service around was very friendly. Once we were done our food, our plates got whisked away without us having to do anything. It is also nice that there is a water self-service station and cups, so you do not have to wait to get more. Would give 5/5 but did personally feel it was on the pricier side. This place can get crowded, if you're looking to sit inside get in there early, and you might still have to wait for a table. The bar area stays open, but it seems like it would be uncomfortable as they start to fill up. I ended up sitting outside at one of their many picnic tables. The floor is rocks so be careful out there. Staff is nice enough. The food is really good. I'm told the coffee was fantastic, I skipped it for the lavender lemonade. It was fine. One of the bus boys took my cup before I was finished though. He was quick or else I would have stopped him. Sad day. The vegan breakfast burrito was delicious. It was tofu and vegan cheese with kale and other veggies in it. And they definitely cook it in a panini press so it's hot with a crispy tortilla outside. The cronch is delightful. read more

However, it did have a good strawberry flavor. The coffee was good. I liked the rustic style of the restaurant. It has both indoors and lots of outdoor seating. Parking is extremely limited, so be prepared to walk a block or two, especially on Sunday mornings. It is not romantic but kind of intimate on how it feels like eating at home. So if you are looking for a place to have a nice cup of Joe with some food in a casual restaurant, then stop by Cenote and give it a try. read more

When I went to examine it I thought it was a red chili with a long stem or something, but realized that it was a twist tie with most of the metal exposed. When we left my friend told me that they only refunded my meal. This is upsetting because of course both my friend and I both stopped eating after this happened and could only finish our drinks to leave. I ALMOST ATE METAL!! Been wanting to try Cenote for a while! Went with a large group on a Saturday morning. The place was packed with a line that went way out the front door, but I was pleasantly surprised that it's an order-at-the-counter service. The line moved pretty fast, and we were somehow all able to find seating together on their outdoor patio! The food came as it was prepared, which we appreciated. The portion sizes were generous, and the food was pretty darn good! I got the chilaquiles with added pork belly, but I wish I'd gotten my neighbors more standard eggs/bacon/potatoes breakfast. We came here one late morning after walking along the river. We had a couple of their dirty homemade chai lattes, 2 chorizo breakfast tacos, and a side of sweet potato fries. All of it was delicious! It was definitely a great stop and we would come back and visit again. Super cute place with indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly service too! I'm a big fan of the fish tacos but also enjoy many of their other menu items as well. The meal wouldn't be complete without either their mimosas or coffee, so be sure to check those out as well. Parking is usually tight and ends up being anywhere from right in front of the restaurant to three or four streets down (street parking), so just keep that in mind. After ordering the Chilaquiles and a brown sugar rosemary coffee at the counter, I made my way to their lovely outdoor seating area (hooray for fans!). The chilaquiles were ample in size, with the fresh avocado balancing out the crunchiness of the chips. There were just enough vegetables in the form of lettuce and pico de gallo that I could deceive myself into thinking it was perhaps a not entirely unhealthy meal. The brown sugar rosemary cold brew was interesting - I had initially asked for it with oat milk, but had to remind the busy barista who quickly remedied the situation. My friend got a maple latte, which was a bit sweet for her taste and had some less appetizing small chunks of butter in the drink. I would recommend getting here early based on the line out the door by the time we left around 11. Parking is primarily street parking, though free on Sundays. read more

I actually had it bookmarked and was excited to finally try it. I got the chilaquiles (my second choice was the Cubano). My friend got the Cubano and let me try a bite (we both agreed it was dry and not flavorful). My other friend is a vegetarian so she got the beet burger and instead of a beet patty inside, it was beet pieces. She was not happy. My chilaquiles were pricey for just glorified nachos (Austin food prices), but were good with a slight kick, so I was happy about it. There was no seating inside since it was a busy Saturday afternoon but plenty outside with shade and fans on. The bathrooms were roomy and very clean but you need a door code to get in. Pleasantly surprised! This was one of the closest breakfasts to our Airbnb and it was great! Quaint little cafe vibes. You Oder at the counter and take a seat. My husband got the smoked salmon bagel and a bacon potato empanada, I got the cenote scramble and apple pancakes. All good portions and all tasty! I've been trying to replicate this scramble at home! I used to live downtown and would make Cenote a biweekly occurrence. Now that I have moved down south, it has become less frequent, but never less satisfying. The inside is cute and rustic, with a homey feel. Their breakfast menu is quaint, but perfect imo. Their food always comes out fresh and very tasty, and their coffee (the star of the show) is impeccable. I love their matcha with vanilla and it's my go to drink. A local neighborhood brunch spot that was definitely hoppin Sunday morning. We waited outside in line to order, and it seemed to move pretty fast. Seat yourself...indoors was pretty popular since it was so hot outdoors. We ordered the brunch burger, ciabatta breakfast sandwich, parfait, and breakfast combo. The brunch burger was fabulous- nice soft brioche bun, burger was juicy and perfectly cooked, loved the runny egg, bacon was thick cut and crispy, avocado always my fave, and I upgraded to a side salad $1 extra ( fresh spring mix with a cilantro/lime dressing.) The parfait was yummy - granola added a nice crunch with a touch of honey. Breakfast ciabatta sandwich was ok, it had a decent amount of egg and the breakfast combo was good. Quality and quantity for a fair price in Austin is starting to be difficult to come by so thank goodness for Cenote. Finally made it out and had a wonderful brunch before SXSW events. We sat out in the back patio, under the covered area. I definitely want to come back when the weather is nice enough to have someone playing on the outdoor stage area. Love the design touches and enclosed feeling of the back due to the plants and vines, feels very cozy and like you're enjoying your backyard and not int he city. You stand in queue to order right away and then take your number and drinks and can choose wherever you would like to sit inside or outside. I got the Migas plate with a side of 2 tortillas and some sides of hot sauce. Very large plates of food for a good price! Their take on migas has tortilla strips, which I enjoy because a lot of the time the tortilla chips get a bit too soggy so this helps keep the crisp crunch of the dish. Our table also ordered the Eggs Benedict with sweet potato fries and the Cubano sandwich. Really all great options on the menu, it was difficult to choose. They offer both coffee bar drinks as well as wine and beer options. I highly recommend their delicious chai tea that is made in house! It was getting pretty busy when we arrived and we received our items in about 20 minutes. The bathroom doors for their single stall all gender rooms are super heavy, but it was fairly clean in there, just outdated and kinda falling apart. read more
