This place is a combo cocktail bar with taqueria in the back. My review is specifically for Saltillo, the taqueria. First off, LOOK at this heaping pile of guacamole! I ate about a quarter of this stacked nachos entree for dinner before taking a photo of it, but for about $24, it was filling and delicious and kept me full until lunch the next day! The vibes at this location are really immaculate, too. There's indoor seating at Saltillo, covered seating outdoor next to Cosmic, and lots of picnic tables and lounge pits in the yard between the two venues. Now the service. The reason why this is a 3-star review. The service was awful - at least at Saltillo. After I finished my nachos, I ordered a margarita. The way you order is - you go up to a kiosk and get a ticket number. However, the employees here don't adhere to the ticket system. To pick up my nachos, I had to ask, "Is this number 162?" And the girl behind the counter just told me to take my food without confirming. Later, I got a margarita - by also ordering at the kiosk. And waited. And waited. And eventually went up again to the counter to ask the non-English speaking employees about it. Eventually the guy behind the counter said, "I gave your margarita to that guy!" I showed him my ticket. He repeated himself. I then went outside to ask the guy outside if he had ordered a margarita. Of course he said yes! During this AWKWARD CONVERSATION THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD, the employee banged on the glass and simply gave me a smaller version of the margarita I had paid for. I did not complain. I did not argue. I shall simply order the smaller margarita next time to not get shafted. read more

Was wondering around Austin and stumbled on this place. Was a great place to take a minute and relax. The best part is the free parking and as you approach the Biz, there is a lot of free form art work. As you step in, you hear water from the fountains and the whole place looks like a mini-retreat. There is a vast variety of coffee drinks and non alcoholic drinks. There is also a taco spot and dispensary. Our barista was super informative and helped explain to us about some of the coffee drinks as it was our first time there. Once we got our order ( 2 Cosmic Comet lattes), we headed to the rooftop where is was a great place to chill and relax. We found out in the pm its 21 and over and will head that way to try the tacos. To be honest, I don't know how this place doesn't have a thousand reviews! This is easily one of the most unique cafe/beer gardens I have ever been to! It's pretty surreal. The atmosphere really sets it apart. They have so much seating, a koi pond, and beautiful greenery and art woven throughout the space. It's also perfect for any vibe really! You can show up in the afternoon wanting coffee and breakfast tacos, or lean into a happy hour vibes with drinks and pork tacos. This is a great spot to get work done during the day, do some creative writing, and it's also a great place to bring a friend and catch up. I wish every city had a place like this! read more

This is definitely a spot to check out if you're in the area. The outdoor space is beautiful and perfect for letting kids or dogs explore supervised. I love spending time here and decompressing. As for the coffee itself, I wouldn't necessarily say it's the reason I come. The drinks are okay--more on the sweet, syrupy, and creative side if that's your thing. They do make a lot of cocktails and specialty alcoholic beverages, so I can see how that's a big plus for coming in the evening. I tend to strictly come in the morning and opt for a cortado and a taco from the taco shop onsite. The taco spot is pretty awesome--they make their tortillas in house and the staff is super friendly. Heads up, for those looking for authentic aguas frescas--you won't get them here as they use a syrup base form the bar for the drinks. Cosmic Saltillo is such a vibe. They had a live DJ when I went on a Saturday, which added great energy. I was greeted by the staff who were super nice. The drink menu has a nice mix of coffee and alcoholic options. I tried the Banana Cloud Cold Brew. I'm usually not a fan of banana flavors, but this one was smooth and not artificial at all. Plenty of seating and space to hang out, work, or study. My friend and I had such a great time, we ended up getting tacos there as well. Before we knew it, we had spent 4 hours there!! There are so many spaces to try in Austin, but the one I have been dying to check out is Cosmic Saltillo off East 4th Street. Last weekend, with a group of friends, we all ventured to Cosmic Saltillo to check it out. Immediately, the space is extremely welcoming. The outdoor area feels like a peaceful garden with a small fountain, a stream, and wooden picnic tables and benches. Inside is the bar where the menu is filled with custom cocktails on tap and plenty of other options as well. We settled in on the upstairs balcony with a perfect view of Downtown Austin and the CapMetro Rail. There are quite a few tables up there and we were lucky to get one right as it opened up. As for the drinks, I started with their Nitro Espresso Cocktail which is a way of saying it is kinda basically sorta maybe an Espresso Martini. It was great. Next I drank a Coors Banquet to offset it, but their draft and bottled beer selection as a whole is great with some specific Cosmic collabs with local breweries. After that, I had their Frozen Boozy Coffee which is served in a special paper cup that looks eerily similar to the Wendy's logo. Once you try it, it is not a frozen hot chocolate. It is a boozy frosty and it is amazing. Lastly, I had a beergarita which is a margarita built on Vacancy Brewing's Super Agave lager and it was also fantastic. The nighttime atmosphere at Cosmic Saltillo is great especially if you are with great company like I was, but I can only imagine a Saturday afternoon being even better since the space is so welcoming and cozy. They have a full espresso and coffee bar and a taco joint but I tried neither. I will be coming back to Saltillo with a group because it is a great spot in a good area of Austin. If I had not been already drinking beer that afternoon, I would have love to of tried the frozen frosty coffee drink with tequila and mezcal, it sounded amazing! They also have a coffee bar! The other building has tacos/mexican food! You can order at the counter via a touchscreen and they'll text you when your order is ready. The menu is super customizable via the touchscreen and my order came out as ordered! The tacos I had were super good! I ordered the Tequila Mangonada and would definitely order it again. They are generous with the tajin, and the mango flavor is definitely there. Food: Right next to the main establishment/seating area, there is a connected restaurant where you can get tacos. They were pricy at $5 each and unfortunately not as filling as I would have liked. Flavor is good, but I think my overall experience with the food felt mediocre. Ambiance: The outdoor seating area is really the selling point of the whole place. I loved how much shade and greenery there was on the first level: there was even a little fountain! My friend and I ended up going up to the second floor to drink since the first floor was already pretty filled and had music playing, and it is a nice experience up there too. Super cute spot on the east side. Interior and exterior are beautiful and very artistic in a way with lots of art, greenery, and even a rooftop. I was under impressed with the coffee, way sweeter than I like typically but they have the full suite of options. And if you want to spice things up it moves toward a bar menu later in the day! Super fun. They also have a taco shop in the back which is the real star of the show, super yummy if you need a quick bite to eat. Service is usually quick depending on lines but on weekends since it's right off the big trail it can get busy. read more

The bartenders are friendly and let me sample a few bevs. I decided on the frozen matcha (and added rum); my gal pal got the "Boozy Coffee" served in a Wendy's-esque cup. If you're hungry, walk across the bar over to the taco bar located in a separate small building on the same bar grounds. The tacos were good - the tortillas tasted homemade - they were a good size, authentic flavor, not greasy, not salty... and spicy salsas.. The showstopper here are the vibes. It's like a bohemian backyard with a lot of lush plant life, canopy shades, water features to drown out the sound of the metrorail. Love that they don't do plastic cups and use eco-friendly straws. What an awesome spot, hidden in the middle of east Austin. My buddy recommended us meet here for coffee in the morning on a Tuesday. I had never heard of it, but I'm always down for a new spot. You walk in, and instantly feel like you are in a new world. Part jungle, part coffee shop, and part party. With neon lights and some funky vibes, this place has it all. I didn't get to partake in the good looking tacos or other foos, but the coffee was top notch, and there was plenty of seating, all over the place. They have a decent but not huge parking lot next door and I believe they may even offer parking in the garage next door. If I lived in East Austin, this would be a weekly hang for sure. My friend and I were staying at a hotel nearby, and stopped in to Cosmic Saltillo on a Friday for a late breakfast. The patio is huge and vibey - with lots of tables for groups of all sizes, and plants galore. The bar is in a separate building from the food, and although we didn't get drinks this time around, we noted the large variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Food orders are placed through a kiosk - and then you get a text when your order is at the pick-up window! Ours was ready in less than 15 minutes. For such a cool spot, the food was just OK. Everything tasted a little bland ... although I enjoyed the crispy grilled tortilla on my bean and cheese burrito, and the chips tasted fresh.
