At SXSW, I experienced great service in a clean and secure environment. The chicken and waffles were outstanding. I plan to visit repeatedly. Delicious!

Mini Martinis - so good!

Love the outdoor area here. It has such a good chill vibe and is perfect for brunch, daytime drinks on a Sunday, or even a night out at the bar. I also like that they close later and stay open until midnight even during the week. I got the martini sampler and it was so good. The bartender was really nice too which made the experience even better. I highly recommend it and will definitely come back.

A friend and I spent a lovely Friday night at Corner while visiting Austin. The space is large with plenty of seating. We sat inside, but if the weather was nice, there is plenty of space outside and a bar outside. We did have to wait a minute as there was no host when we arrived, but one soon arrived and let us to our table. Our server spent good time building rapport with us. We got our drinks ordered, which did take a minute to arrive, but it was a Friday night so I was not too worried. The Caesar salad then came first and it was very tasty especially the cornbread croutons. The burger and fries were fresh and the enchiladas had good flavor although the ends did get a bit hard and chewy. Overall, I would stop by Corner if you are at or near the JW in downtown Austin.

This place is such a gem. The outdoor seating and bar area are so cool! The kind of spot that instantly feels like the right choice. Our bartender was friendly the second we walked up, and both drinks were delicious and priced well. Perfect place to kick off a night out or just unwind without overthinking it.

Chipotle Honey Salmon

We came here on a weeknight and were able to get a table without reservations. Our server was kind and attentive, but the food was just okay. We ordered the spicy guacamole, the cornbread, chipotle honey salmon, shrimp and grits, and a couple of drinks. The frozen Froscato was a nice drink, but they were having problems with the machine that night so it came out a bit late and a little on the thicker side. The cornbread came in a small flat iron pan, making it pretty crispy and also dangerous since it was buttery and flaky. It was delicious. The guacamole was on the spicier side, and we weren't the biggest fan of those spices. The salmon had a lot of harsh flavors to it to the point where it was not enjoyable, since those flavors clashed. My partner liked his shrimp and grits. Overall, the food was just okay, but it wasn't something we would come back for.

I had made reservations at Corner because my friend wanted to try this restaurant. I personally did not want to go here because I felt the food was over priced and the food didn't look great on the overly hyped reviews. But this is where my friend wanted to go to celebrate our friendship anniversary. First impression walking in, it seems to be targeting a "high end atmosphere" but people were wearing casual clothes. When checking in, the hosts seem to not able to find my reservations and keep asking for my name several times. I had to whip out my reservation screen shot to show him. Not the best first impression. Then we were seating right next to the entrance of the bath rooms and walk way of another entrance from the hotel to the restaurant. It was such a weird table placement and the table should not exist. Throughout our dining experience consisted of people wandering in and looking lost on where to go. The service here is terrible. We notice our waiter was the only one running many tables. If they were short staff I completely understand and a simple communication from our waiter about it would have helped but he simply was ignoring us for a good 15-20 minutes until our order was taken. When we asked about the menu, he didn't seem to know what drinks were offered and literally circle back about it after we finish our food. He was annoyed we didn't order drinks when he told us. We were full and that's a very late follow up. We ordered the "Wagyu" burger with their secret sauce.. let's say the secret sauce is nonexistent. Burger was juicy but under seasoned. Burger was bland and nothing special. For $$ for this burger, it felt like catfished. 1/5 the burger comes with fries and the fries were crispy. The poblano queso: 1/5 I did not know queso can taste not queso. It was not cheesy and frankly you can't really taste the cheese. It was the oddest thing. The poblano with diced and topped on the cheese but you can not taste it either. Both nonexistent. Do I recommend this place, no. Service is a thumbs down. And food is a thumbs down. Overpriced and honestly overhyped.

Rating: 3.3/5 [dine in] We came on a late Thursday night as a group of four. Service was on the slower side, and for the price, the food didn't really deliver overall. 7-Layer with Adobo Chicken Salad ($21): Pretty basic at first, but it grew on me the more I ate. Still, not really worth the price. Old Fashioned Wagyu Burger ($22): This was probably the best thing we had. The burger was delicious, and the fries were solid too. Grilled Prime Flat Iron ($43): Cooked well and paired nicely with the chimichurri. The real standout was the potatoes--crispy, unique, and way better than the burger fries. Honestly, kind of addicting. Wagyu Short Rib ($38): The white cheddar grits were interesting, but they didn't really enhance the short rib. Overall, the flavors fell flat so I would skip this one.

Gotta be honest, was pleasantly surprised with this place. It's connected to the JW Marriott here in Austin. The burnt ends were delicious. The sauce on them is definitely different. Hot for my liking but still a solid choice. The corner salad was flat out awesome. The French fries were crispy to perfection. The banana foster dessert is a must try though. Offering a great balanced look of ice cream and soft pudding. Mixed in with small bites of banana. Wow. Our server Micah was awesome. She made some great recommendations. The place itself is pretty cool too, there's a more dining area along with an outdoor bar and seating area as well. Great for a date night or to watch a game and knock some work out. Cheers!

SHORT RIB TAQUITOS
Von W.

We had a great experience, overall! Food Elote: 7/10; I thought the flavors worked. Would've preferred less char. Short rib taquitos: 4/10; overcooked; they were well done and then fried some more. I should've sent them back. Brisket Tacos: 9/10; tender and tasty Dulce de leche brownie: 8/10; not-too-sweet warm brownie, but the star was the caramel ice cream. The caramel sauce added a nice, sweet and creamy touch. Lavender refresher mocktail: 9/10; refreshing and sweet; right amount of ice. Blackberry shrub mocktail: 8/10; not as sweet, approaching savory. Service Our server Micah was excellent. She was warm and welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable. She delivered the right amount of salesmanship without being off putting. Ambience Very nice! High ceilings and airy. Love the furnishings. Although the area where we were seated was a little dark. I had to whip out the flashlight on my phone to read the menu.

We had a phenomenal experience at Corner located in the JW Marriott downtown. My friend and I went for brunch on her birthday weekend. The food was scrumptious, the service was on point and the drinks were a delight. It's a huge restaurant with rustic modern decor and an industrial feel. We started out with the spicy guacamole and the apple French toast fritters, and nearly ended there! The guac was flavorful and delicious with a little kick. Good tortilla chips. The fritters were amazing!! So good and so glad we got them. They have a bunch sampler that's cool if you want to taste 3 different cocktails for the price of one! It includes the abracadabra (made with gin), an froscato (frozen moscato) and an espresso martini. The first two were my favorites. It was my first time tasting an espresso martini and probably won't rush and order another unless there's cream and I add sugar or Splenda to it. They offer a cold pressed juice each day too and my friend loved hers so much she got two! It was made with ingredients like apple, orange, ginger, turmeric etc. Can't go to Texas and NOT order tacos or the smoked brisket if offered, so I also had the brisket tacos. They are made with the spicy guacamole, Chipotle aioli and pickled onions. The meat is well done. Served in a set of 3, I enjoyed them but know that they are filling! Our server was a sweetheart. She even brought out balloons once we told her it was my friend's birthday. She had some decent pull and was attentive, not annoying but always accommodating and trying to make our experience pleasant by listening to our needs and delivering what we want. Even the hostess was dope - happy and attentive. You can pay for valet or pay for self parking. Either way I recommend Corner!! The menu has plenty more goodness to explore!

Baja Shrimp Tacos and Fries
Arriel N.

Visited Corner Restaurant on a Saturday evening for a double date and really enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere was chill and comfortable, and our waiter was super knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone at the table raved about their food. I ordered the shrimp cocktail (forgot to grab a picture!) and the Baja tacos. The shrimp cocktail was very good, and the tacos were great--full of flavor. The spicy guacamole definitely brings some heat, but it's so worth it. Overall, a great spot for a relaxed dinner with friends. Will definitely be back!

Espresso Martinis

Tierra was a great bartender and was very friendly. The bar outside had great ambience. I will definitely be back when I'am back in town.

Food: I got shrimp tacos and I can't lie, they were delicious! The tortillas tasted handmade and the seasoning was perfect Service: was bad! There was very few people eating here and we still rarely saw our waiter. On top of that the tip was included in the bill even tho I think he did not earn that big of a tip it was not up to me.

Do they have bottomless mimosas or some sort of mimosas special?

Thank you for reaching out to inquire about our mimosa options. We do offer a brunch mimosa pitcher, mimosa flight special, along with an individual mimosa glass on the weekends (Fri-Sun). We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you in soon!

Do they allow dogs on the patio?

Yes they do! We brought our boston terrier and everyone loved her!

The venue itself has a lively, open feel with an urban backyard vibe and plenty of space to move around, mingle, and actually take in the installation without feeling crowded. What stood out most was how well the space complemented the event. The layout made it easy to engage with the installation while still enjoying the social vibe. They had space for working virtually as well as displays to test some of the technology. There's a nice balance between indoor comfort and that signature rooftop-style setting, which gives it a relaxed but elevated feel. The staff was friendly and kept things running smoothly, and the overall setup felt thoughtfully organized. Whether you were there to focus on the installation or just take it in casually, the environment supported both. The line was somewhat long to get into the event as it was at capacity and could only allow more people as people were leaving the event. I was given a drink ticket and got to try the Patio Pounder with ilegal mezcal, primo aperitivo, tropical citrus, coconut, grapefruit soda. The bartender was efficient even though the lines were long. The cocktail was enjoyable with the balance of smoky and citrus flavors. They also had a variety of food bites available including chips and queso. creamy street corn, and sliders. The food was gone relatively quickly due to the crowds but it would be replenished periodically. Overall, Upstairs at Caroline proved to be a solid venue for a creative SXSW event versatile, welcoming, and very on-brand for Austin's arts and tech scene.

She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out.
