This would've been on a Sunday night was able to grab a booth near the bar area and they had a very large bar with ample seating and an open air kitchen so you kind of got to watch some of the action. I ended up getting a fish dish. I don't recall the name of it was very tasty. Really enjoyed the seasoning on it. The fish was cooked perfectly. The person I was with ordered the burger and unfortunately the patty was not seasoned very well so it's kind of bland. Nothing to write home about Service was decent prompt. We decided to grab a quick bite in between the panels. We heard this place was really good so we decided to give it a shot. Off the first impression, the place looked really nice with several bar areas to quickly grab a seat. However, if waiting for a table it could take some time. So, look for the bar areas and the couches surrounding the bar outside are first come first serve, as well. We grabbed a couch and they quickly came over to clean our table. It was a beautiful day out and the patio area we were sitting at was great so everything seemed perfect. Service was good and our waitress was awesome. We quickly ordered the red snapper ceviche, the brunch burger and the Caesar salad with chicken. The red snapper ceviche was the hit and the fries were very good. As for the salad, my coworker said it was very dry and she asked for extra dressing and it still wasn't right. I thought my burger was mid. I only ate half but killed the fries. Love the outdoor area here. It has such a good chill vibe and is perfect for brunch, daytime drinks on a Sunday, or even a night out at the bar. A friend and I spent a lovely Friday night at Corner while visiting Austin. The space is large with plenty of seating. We sat inside, but if the weather was nice, there is plenty of space outside and a bar outside. We did have to wait a minute as there was no host when we arrived, but one soon arrived and let us to our table. Our server spent good time building rapport with us. We got our drinks ordered, which did take a minute to arrive, but it was a Friday night so I was not too worried. The Caesar salad then came first and it was very tasty especially the cornbread croutons. The burger and fries were fresh and the enchiladas had good flavor although the ends did get a bit hard and chewy. We ordered the spicy guacamole, the cornbread, chipotle honey salmon, shrimp and grits, and a couple of drinks. The frozen Froscato was a nice drink, but they were having problems with the machine that night so it came out a bit late and a little on the thicker side. The cornbread came in a small flat iron pan, making it pretty crispy and also dangerous since it was buttery and flaky. It was delicious. The guacamole was on the spicier side, and we weren't the biggest fan of those spices. I had made reservations at Corner because my friend wanted to try this restaurant. I personally did not want to go here because I felt the food was over priced and the food didn't look great on the overly hyped reviews. But this is where my friend wanted to go to celebrate our friendship anniversary. First impression walking in, it seems to be targeting a "high end atmosphere" but people were wearing casual clothes. When checking in, the hosts seem to not able to find my reservations and keep asking for my name several times. I had to whip out my reservation screen shot to show him. Not the best first impression. Then we were seating right next to the entrance of the bath rooms and walk way of another entrance from the hotel to the restaurant. It was such a weird table placement and the table should not exist. Throughout our dining experience consisted of people wandering in and looking lost on where to go. The service here is terrible. We notice our waiter was the only one running many tables. If they were short staff I completely understand and a simple communication from our waiter about it would have helped but he simply was ignoring us for a good 15-20 minutes until our order was taken. When we asked about the menu, he didn't seem to know what drinks were offered and literally circle back about it after we finish our food. He was annoyed we didn't order drinks when he told us. We were full and that's a very late follow up. We ordered the "Wagyu" burger with their secret sauce.. let's say the secret sauce is nonexistent. Burger was juicy but under seasoned. Burger was bland and nothing special. For $$ for this burger, it felt like catfished. 1/5 the burger comes with fries and the fries were crispy. The poblano queso: 1/5 I did not know queso can taste not queso. It was not cheesy and frankly you can't really taste the cheese. It was the oddest thing. The poblano with diced and topped on the cheese but you can not taste it either. Both nonexistent. Do I recommend this place, no. Service is a thumbs down. And food is a thumbs down. We had a phenomenal experience at Corner located in the JW Marriott downtown. My friend and I went for brunch on her birthday weekend. The food was scrumptious, the service was on point and the drinks were a delight. It's a huge restaurant with rustic modern decor and an industrial feel. We started out with the spicy guacamole and the apple French toast fritters, and nearly ended there! The guac was flavorful and delicious with a little kick. Good tortilla chips. The fritters were amazing!! So good and so glad we got them. They have a bunch sampler that's cool if you want to taste 3 different cocktails for the price of one! It includes the abracadabra (made with gin), an froscato (frozen moscato) and an espresso martini. The first two were my favorites. It was my first time tasting an espresso martini and probably won't rush and order another unless there's cream and I add sugar or Splenda to it. They offer a cold pressed juice each day too and my friend loved hers so much she got two! It was made with ingredients like apple, orange, ginger, turmeric etc. Can't go to Texas and NOT order tacos or the smoked brisket if offered, so I also had the brisket tacos. They are made with the spicy guacamole, Chipotle aioli and pickled onions. The meat is well done. Served in a set of 3, I enjoyed them but know that they are filling! Our server was a sweetheart. She even brought out balloons once we told her it was my friend's birthday. She had some decent pull and was attentive, not annoying but always accommodating and trying to make our experience pleasant by listening to our needs and delivering what we want. The restaurant decor is very nice. Very big restaurant, but everything was modern looking and clean. The service was only so-so. Everything just took longer than needed (to order, to get a refill on water, etc.). Seemed like it was more a case of inefficiency than being so busy. Would require multiple asks to get something and I think the server just kept forgetting. He was serving one section but would check on one table then run around, come back for another table, run around, instead of checking in on the section and getting multiple things done in one round. The food was good. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken (4.5/5) - Good, unique version of this dish. Well brined, lightly breaded chicken breast on top of a corns and gravy. Really enjoyed corner. They have such an eclectic menu for American food and in a very posh part of Austin they're inside the Marriott. I found their Moscow mules really good. They have a nice wine list. The ceviche that is with red snapper is excellent. They have your typical appetizers like queso and cheese dip and their cornbread is served cast-iron table side. The shrimp and grits were massive and delicious the cowboy steak also equally impressive. Definitely come here if you want a hearty meal For mid to upper price point. The Corner is our spot for a late-night munch or a bloody on the patio. Since this is located at the JW Marriott, bring your favorite CC or a wad of cash. The bill was north of $80 with tip. On our Sunday Funday, we met friends for some Bloody Marys and a lite lunch. Awful and very concerning experience. My family ate here on 7/28 while we were staying at the JW Marriott. Our actual server was Marina Cox. Our bill was about $90, and we paid it directly at the restaurant with a credit card and left a $20 cash tip. We did not charge our meal to our hotel room. A couple of days later, while checking out of the hotel, we paid our room expenses and were about to leave when I decided to look over the hotel receipt one more time. I noticed a $55 charge from this restaurant that we did not make. Thank goodness I had kept our original restaurant receipt proving that we had already paid for our meal. Once we compared the receipts and detailed check records, the circumstances became even more concerning. Our legitimate check with Marina was opened at 10:37 PM and closed at 12:06 AM. While that check was still open, another check was opened at 11:32 PM under John Woods, and food was entered at 11:34 PM. Here is what I find especially strange: that second check contained an Old Fashioned Burger for $22 and Tacos Pollo Asado for $19 -- the exact same two entrées, at the exact same prices, that were already on our legitimate check. The disputed check was then closed at 12:00 AM, six minutes BEFORE our real check was closed. So both checks existed in the restaurant's system at the same time. The $55 disputed charge consisted of $41 in food, $3.38 tax and a $10.62 "charge tip"/service charge. The detailed record also shows Dean Mare associated with the room-account charge/closing entries. I would really like to know who authorized that $10.62 tip and, more importantly, how this second check containing two of our exact entrées ended up being charged to our hotel room when we had already paid for our actual meal separately. The hotel attendant went to the restaurant to get the charge corrected. What was also disappointing was that the restaurant manager didn't even come out to speak with us, apologize, or explain what happened. I understand that mistakes happen, including accidentally charging the wrong room. But the timing and details here are difficult for me to dismiss as a simple mix-up. A second check was created while our real check was still open, it contained the same two entrées from our actual order, it was associated with a different server, and it was charged to our hotel room with an additional $10.62 charge tip. I am not going to speculate about why this happened, but I believe these circumstances deserve an explanation and investigation by Marriott. Lesson learned: Always check your hotel folio carefully before leaving, and KEEP your restaurant receipts. Without my original receipt, I don't know how easily I could have proven that we had already paid for our meal. read more

They have plenty of outdoor seating and their outdoor patio is dog friendly which is a plus. There were several dogs sitting on the patio.
