They were out of gluten free toast so the server recommended the Brekky Bowl which looked like it was be fantastic... and here's where things got weird The questionable: The rice must have been day old rice. I do not know how else to explain it. Cold, hard and tasted like it was straight out of the refrigerator. The eggs were cold and maybe that's the way the dish was supposed to be? Cold eggs and cold rice? I just can't imagine anyone enjoying day old, hard rice. It was truly bad. I'm not sure why we didn't send it back... they seemed busy and the two of us that ordered sat there bite by bite wondering if it was really something they serve. One of my favorite brunch spots in town. While the menu isn't your traditional eggs-and-pancakes brunch, everything is incredibly fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and always hits the spot. The real standout for me is the coffee program. Whether you're looking for a simple $5 cup or want to splurge on a rare $25 pour-over, they have an impressive variety of coffees for every palate. It's one of the few places where the coffee is just as much of a destination as the food. I even find myself buying bags of their beans to brew at home. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Just be prepared to wait--most days there's a 15-30 minute wait, but in my opinion, it's well worth it. We've been coming to Proud Mary pretty regularly, about every couple of weeks, and it's settled into that reliable rotation of places that just work for a morning out. The space is a big part of the draw. It's clean, modern, and very intentionally designed without feeling overdone. There's a mix of seating that makes it flexible depending on what you need that day. Coffee bar seating if you're solo, standard tables inside, and outdoor seating if the weather cooperates. It's just a nice place to exist for a while, whether you're meeting someone or quietly easing into the day. We usually go in the morning and have never had to wait for a table, which feels somewhat rare for Austin these days. There's a steady flow of people, including plenty of families, but it doesn't feel like a "kid place." More like a place that can accommodate kids if you're willing to make it work. There's a small box of toys, and we usually piece together sides for our kid, which has been easy enough. Strollers are doable but not effortless. The main lot fills up quickly, but there's a garage behind the building that's inexpensive and reliable. You can get an hour of parking comped by the restaurant with a QR. Inside, there's also a window of time in the morning where the sun comes in aggressively enough that I've had to wear sunglasses at the table. Not a dealbreaker, but very real. One thing I do miss is a previous yogurt bowl with pandan that used to be on the menu. The current overnight oats are good, but that earlier version felt more unique. Overall, it's a place that balances quality and routine really well. The consistency across visits is what makes it stick. It looked so beautiful, then you took that first bite and your taste buds were dancing up and down like there was a concert going on in your mouth. 01/2026 My wife and I came for the first time on a Sunday early afternoon, around 12 PM, for brunch. You have two options on parking--the lot in front of the cafe, as well as a neighboring garage, both are validated after your meal! The cafe was fairly busy, but we didn't have to wait long to get seated. Note that we were seated at a larger table, where there was a different party next to us at the same table--there's a mix of small and large tables, but it seems combining tables is part of their normal deal (not a fan of that, but went with it for the sake of getting our meal started). There is a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating, and it's definitely got that "Austin" vibe with its decor, music and overall ambience. Our server was very attentive and prompt on everything throughout our experience. To drink, I ordered an iced latte with vanilla--basic and what a latte should be! Runs on the smaller side, but still enjoyed it. For my meal I ordered the "Breakfast Burger"--a double pork and bacon smashed patty, cheese, onions, Mary's mayo and a fried egg. I also added avocado to it for an extra cost. It was delicious!!! And it was pretty big, hard to fit in my mouth to take a bite, but I managed! The burger was savory and also well-balanced with the yolk of the egg. I would definitely order it again. With the burger I had a side of fries--when you order them, know that it's a large amount, probably great for sharing with someone else if you're going to get them. They were well-seasoned and crispy, a good addition to a burger or sandwich. My wife and I also decided to share a side of "Ricotta Hotcakes"--contained candied yam puree, burnt marshmallow whip, shortbread crumble, compressed apple and apple syrup. They were great! Gave me soufflé vibes with their texture. Texture is very soft, fluffy and combined with the crunch of all that was on top of them, it made for a great bite. Overall a great experience! Wanted to start the day with a cappuccino and a decent breakfast. The waitstaff were busy, still friendly and helpful though. Going to start off by saying that this is fantastic coffee, I really enjoyed my cappuccino. They have some exotic pourover options too if you want to geek out on some coffee. I also ordered the golden sunrise juice that had beet, ginger, and carrot juices. The juice tasted pretty good, glad the healthy options are there! My wife ordered the eggs on toast, it came with a couple strips of bacon. She said it was good. I had the potato hash, which is a hash brown cake, one strip of bacon and two poached eggs. The poached eggs were cooked how I liked them, but the plate was full of runny egg water? It seemed like the poached eggs were ladled out of the water they were poached in and most of the water ended up on my plate. The potatoes were good, but a decent portion of them in the middle of the cake just didn't get "browned" and the kale... just seemed out of place on this dish, even though it tasted pretty good. Parking is plentiful in the nearby garage and they will validate for you. There's really two things that I had to dock a star for though... The seating is very uncomfortable - at least for me it was. Most seats lack a back, they were basically short stools without a back. Scooting them up to a somewhat short table that I bashed my knee against. It was like I was sitting at a kids table. Then my just my wife and I ended up with a bill over $75 for breakfast. The value just isn't there. My plate was shredded potatoes, two eggs and one strip of bacon. The presentation was fancy, but it's just not worth $20. I guess I shouldn't have ordered it, but the menu is not your typical breakfast place menu, it is definitely more geared towards a "coffee shop crowd". That's not a bad thing, that's what this place is after all. I would stop by again for a coffee, but I'm unlikely to order the expensive food again. read more

I had a calling one afternoon. "Should I spend $30 on a single cup of coffee?" It's a question not many people ask themselves, nor should they. The typical answer would be no. That's frankly extreme for a cup of coffee. However, I like to diverge from the path set forth by my ancestors and say yes to adventure. Say yes to spending $30 for a cup of pour over coffee. Don't try and stop me... Ultimately, I don't know if it was worth it. Like, in the grand scheme of it all, it was $30. It was a unique experience. I opted for the Mama Cata coffee, and the waitress/barista handed me the freshly ground grounds to sniff. I didn't pick up any notes because I'm an idiot and instead was intrigued by how fresh it smelled. Well duh, Zachary, it's freshly ground. I was then handed a little notecard explaining the coffee and its origin as I watched her create the pour over. How do I know she's an expert in $30 coffee? I don't. At least she looked like she knew what she was doing. In a clear, almost wine-glass-style cup, I was given my freshly brewed coffee. I took a sniff and some small sips to really understand the flavor. I so badly wanted to ask for milk for the bit. Whatever. There was red in the center with this almost amber color surrounding it. New coffee colors unlocked. The flavors stayed with me, and ultimately, it was a pretty good pour over. I don't know if it was accidental, but it tasted a little more watery than I was expecting. Not as full-bodied as I'd hope for a $30 cup of coffee. I don't know if I'd casually do it again on my own, but it was cool to run my pockets for a cup of coffee. My favorite coffee shop / roaster in Austin for its coffee (so disclaimer: I don't care about the price, service or environment that much). Their coffee menu covers all espresso (and espresso based), nitro snap chill and pourover drinks. Found the 1st COE Columbia on menu and was truly surprised that I could taste it here. They served it a glass cup which was also a surprise. Not a big deal - clean, juicy and floral. Also got the Geisha Nitro Snap Chill and highly recommend it. So flavorful with a delightful fruity note. Perfect for a hot day. Only thing I don't like - portion size is too small lol. Picked a brazil for espresso and it can be done black (shot of espresso) and white (a piccolo). Beautifully done. A sweet and nutty taste in the espresso and an even sweeter and delicious taste from the Piccolo. read more

Love this place, the atmosphere is energetic for a Monday morning. They do communal seating at the larger tables which is great when dining alone. Well, that part came before the food. The coffee didn't arrive until probably about halfway through the meal very nicely done. I enjoyed that they kept the cue card so you could reference what region and the history for the coffee. After I settled up the tickets, I went to the restroom, which was decent. Nothing spectacular pretty standard and exiting they were still super busy Overall, I really enjoyed my time there.
