Signage in front of store and pop up vendor tents
    Paul I.

What a fun store! We happened to come here when their front parking lot had a planned pop-up with a quirky selection of vendors. The store has a great selection of weird and colorful creations that channel Austin's charm. Staff are friendly. Parking is non-existent but you can find street parking within a few blocks, along side streets.

Mural on the building - A mural on a building wall shows an outline of the state of Texas in white, with the words "Love from Austin" written inside in a casual, handwritten style. The wall is painted dark gray, and the mural is positioned near the top of the wall, with a cloudy sky visible above. The ground below the wall is concrete with some dirt and small patches of grass.

Located on South Congress, Prima Dora is a fun and eclectic shop with some great souvenirs and gifts, as well as a picture-worthy mural on the side of the building. Nate and I stopped here as the starting point of our walk up Congress towards downtown while in Austin recently. We were heading to the airport later so we had our rolling carryon, which one of the employees let me stick behind their counter while browsing. The store is full of lots of t-shirts, coasters/koozies, art, books, some kids items, lots of things with irreverent sayings, a whole room full of cards - there's a lot to see! We ended up buying a few stickers and a neoprene coaster of the Austin skyline. I had fun browsing and wished we had more room to pack things to take home!

Love lock wall- get your locks inside the shop

Fun eclectic shop! I got a super cute coaster souvenir of the "you're my butter half" mural. We didn't have time to go to the actual mural so it was nice to get the coaster. My boyfriend and I bought a green lock (his fav color) and placed a lock on their love lock wall! There's a mural across from it too. Both perfect photo ops.

Super cute store. They have a lot to look at. Mostly souvenirs, and Texas related items. Art work like jewelry by local artists. If you're looking for something unique to take home with you, or something for a gift. I recommend this store. It's located on Congress, which is a popular street to walk up and down on. Lots of other stores to pop in and check out. Please check out the murals located all up and down the street. My favorite mural is the one right on Prima Dora's building. You can also buy a heart shaped lock inside and write a message on it and hang it across the "Love From Texas" mural. You'll see locks in different areas around Austin. Maybe buy a few and leave your mark!

Cute souvenir key chains, $6 each (except wooden state key chains are $6.50 each prior to tax) prior to tax

Prima Dora is located on South Congress Avenue, look for the large tulip, also right next door to Magnolia Cafe. With my last few days in Austin before I come back to Los Angeles, my husband, our little girl dog (yep dogs are welcomed in this store and our little girl even got a few dog treats from the employee, whom I suspect may be the owner and/ or manager) and I decided to come here this evening, around 5:40 pm, looking for souvenirs to bring back home for family and friends. With limited space in our luggage, I ended up deciding to pick up a few Austin keychains (I love that 2 of those key chains are also bottle openers). But in addition to key chains, there are coasters, posters, clothing, stuff animals, etc. According to the employee helping me with my transaction, this store is like a consignment store in which they team up with local vendors/ artists who sell their handmade wares/ pieces (which is the reason why items in this store may be a bit higher than other souvenir stores). And most recently is a mural that is on the side of the store, Love From Texas (check out the Yelp photos to see it), that was created by one of the vendors. There are definitely some great finds in this store and it is always cool to support local vendors/ artists and small mom and pop shops. Come check out this place and snap a few photos with their awesome mural.

    Unique items for great gifts

Probably one of my personal new favorite spots in Austin! Went for the first time yesterday. So many cool things that would be great gifts (and treats for myself!) Love love love. We'll be back!

The image shows a boxed set of 44 oracle cards designed to connect with African goddesses for guidance, insight, and empowerment. The back of the box features descriptions of the creators, Abiola Abrams and Destiny Powell, and includes images of some of the cards. The box displays the price as $19.99 USD or $25.99 CAD, with a barcode and ISBN number. The setting appears to be a table at a market or fair, with other items visible in the background.

The outside is way cooler than what's inside. It's just a cheap souvenir shop. There are better places to go.

However, this time was a lot different and I was able to find the perfect gifts for my friend's birthday as well as fun items for myself. It seems like the selection has remained the same although Atown is keeping up with current and modern trends. For example, there were a lot of ICE based items tucked away as well as current celebrity crushes who are on everybody's minds. The coolest thing I found was a James Talarico candle but other than that, a lot of the items that were for sale were pretty kitschy and I believe they are the same wholesale items I have seen before. I must shoutout the incredibly helpful service from Audrey who went above and beyond to help me find items for my friend's birthday. She was super sweet, and I would've been wandering around the store aimlessly if it wasn't for her direction. Additionally, she even came up with combination gift ideas which was pretty sick. Atown is lucky to have her! I think my PTSD is no longer because of her assistance. Great store, unfortunately high prices. However, no one does it like Atown!

There are 3 or 4 separate areas you can visit and they have things from locally made earrings and art to coasters, desk plates, rubber ducks of famous people, religious candles with random famous people, funny socks, clothes, and so much more. The staff is friendly and outgoing, they even had a woman at the door greeting you and offering you a hand basket if you wanted or needed one. There were 3 or 4 cashiers and at least one lady walking around greeting you and seeing if they could help. It is pricier then your chain store but the products are cooler, unique, and many times locally made. Things you can't get at other stores or amazon. Like so many places, it's one downside is parking. It is a small lot, if you part in front you basically have to back in to spot blocking traffic or back out into traffic. There is a small side lot that is better but you basically have to 3 point turn out of that spot. Always willing to pay a bit more to support local. We don't get out of our area/comfort zone much but we do love this place. #Supportlocal

Every piece in the store appears to be intentionally curated. Maaribu melds a home and gift shop with an in house café and bakery, creating an experience that's both relaxing and memorable. According to Mable, my server, Maaribu is a combination of the word Marfa (Texas town that has the Prada store) and Malibu. The brand is often described as combining Marfa's creative spirit, Malibu's laid back lifestyle, and clean Scandinavian design. The shop portion of Maaribu is beautifully styled, featuring furniture, décor, books, and gifts that have a modern flare. All the items are easy to peruse and get drawn in. The use of color is playful and engaging. Maaribu's key highlight is its café and bakery. The in house café has an assortment of coffee, wellness beverages, and dedicated gluten free baked goods. I bought a Rose honey latte, which was divine along with a multi-layer pastry. Mable said customers enjoy the quality and flavor of the pastries...scones, muffins, cookies, brownies, and egg bites are frequent favorites. Importantly, the café is reported to be fully gluten free, which makes it a standout destination for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities, without sacrificing taste or variety. The outdoor seating and patio area add to the charm, making Maaribu a great place to enjoy coffee and pastries on a nice Austin morning.
