The thought and care they took to make SugarWolf was great. For context it is pricey, but the quality was great. It being bakery the bread and pastries were very good. I got a burnt ends focaccia, oatmeal cream pie and a porchetta sandwich. The burnt ends focaccia was good the bread was excellent, the topping I expected a bit more of a smoky flavor. The tomato topping overpowered the burnt ends flavor. The porchetta was a good sandwich's again the bread is excellent, the pork was a bit underwhelming it felt on the blander side. The oatmeal cream pie no notes. You taste oatmeal and the cream was so good. Solid place the hype makes sense. Another note no laptops.

Run don't walk to Sugarwolf! This place is certainly worth the hype. Food: Scrumptious. With every bite, you can tell they are using fresh & quality ingredients. Everything we got (cookies, focaccia, oatmeal cream pie), we enjoyed. Atmospherics: 10/10. It's beautifully designed and very spacious, especially for downtown. Parking: There is a parking garage attached to it / directly beside it. (It's very fancy too.) I was there for a little less than 2 hours Saturday morning and was charged less than $7. Staff: So friendly! There was a long line when we went (about an hour wait) and one of the owners talked to the customers as we waited. It was nice getting to know more about him (a born & raised Austinite) and the restaurant. Shout out to you, Staton!

Grand Opening: Today, May 5, 2026 Cinco de Mayo Sugarwolf is a new addition to downtown Austin (4th and Guadalupe). This great recommendation was made by a Yelp friend. Before she recommended Sugarwolf, I had not heard of this coffee and pastry shop. We decided to brave the crowd at 7 am. I arrived first and saved a place for my friend. Perfect timing as she arrived when it was our turn to go into Sugarwolf. First impression...modern, clean architectural lines with a modern flare. Floor to ceiling windows emit an abundance of light. The chandeliers are quite unique in that they look like Chinese lanterns yet appear to be made from a cheesecloth like material. The space is open and airy. One word...striking! The music playing in the background contributed to making this experience a whole vibe. Sugarwolf specializes in high quality pastries and coffee drinks. We both purchased cinnamon rolls (large, mutant cinnamon rolls...enough for three people). The bakery uses organic flour, butter, and a seed oil free kitchen. The flavor and texture was quite nice. My friend also got a croissant to go. She purchased a hot smoked raspberry latte with matcha and I purchased an iced smoked raspberry latte. Both were exceptionally prepared. Watching the bakers work with customer views of the kitchen was an appealing part of the culinary experience. Everyone in the shop was super friendly and helpful. Please note the coffee shop is on the pricier side, but well worth the investment. Metered street parking is available nearby. Love new coffee shops and bakeries...yes I'm back on coffee. I lasted one day without coffee...smile.

SUGAR WOLF!! Wow! You hit it out the park! The space is so beautiful, spacious and warm! Soft lighting and plenty of seating options! I was anticipating grand opening today and it did not disappoint. Their hours are from 7am-4p which perfect for early risers who don't like paying for parking. I got here around 7:12am there was a line. Thankfully it moved pretty quickly! The gentlemen taking my order was very kind and personable. He recommended the Pain Sussie. I went with the cinnamon roll and Pain Sussie! I also got a SMOKED RASPBERRY LATTE! Who's ever heard of such a drink?!? It even tasted magical. It had a nice balance of raspberry and the matcha was high grade. My pastries were fresh although it took a while to get the cinnamon roll it's their first day open so I'll give them grace. Very friendly staff and great customer service. Prices are expensive so keep that in mind. They also serve lunch and they have a coffee/cocktail bar open until 4pm.

I came two days after their grand opening around 9:15 AM, and there was a short line. There is a guy stationed at the front handing you a menu to look over while you wait and thanking you for coming, which is a nice touch. For being so new, they already have a great system for line management and flow. The staff were all nice and professional as well. If you ordered a drink, you pick it up at the end of the bar. French Onion Danish ($8): Fire. Such a yummy savory pastry and it doesn't taste heavy at all. Super flaky. Monkey Bread ($6): Delicious! Some bites are sweeter than others which keeps it interesting. The only thing was that one of the pieces was hanging off so the presentation wasn't as dialed in as the other pastries. Smokey Raspberry Latte ($8): You can choose between espresso and matcha so I went with espresso. I forgot to ask for oat milk so it came with whole milk. I like my coffee strong and though the latte was pretty milky so this one didn't really hit the mark for me. The smokey raspberry flavor was very subtle too and okay. Black Sesame Matcha ($8): This one comes with oat milk as the default which I love. The matcha flavor is subtle but it has a nice green color. Make sure to mix it well before drinking because the first few sips taste mostly like sweetener. After mixing it a few times the black sesame came through, though it was also pretty light. The pastries are the star here and worth the trip on their own. The drinks were a bit underwhelming for me but I still want to come back to try their bar and lunch menu.

Beautiful addition to downtown. Came during lunch on opening day for a sandwich and salad. By 2 pm they had sold out of a few sandwiches but there was still plenty to choose from. I got the pork sandwich and the Brussel sprout Caesar salad. Both were excellent choices. The sandwich was on homemade fresh daily hearty French bread. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We waited in a short line and ordered at the counter and then they brought the food to your table. You did have to get your own water and silverware stationed in the middle of the restaurant. The call your drinks for you to pick up but if you forget long enough they will bring it to you. Portions and prices were reasonable for downtown.

This what we needed! I have been watching the construction from my living room since it started! What a beautiful space with the food and coffee to match! Everyone is so friendly and happy to be here. The line moves fast and the pastries really are as good as they look. The classic croissant is one of the best I have ever had. The coffee bar has some wonderful unique flavors (lavender cardamom anyone?) and makes a dang good cortado! I love the bar seating. I feel like that is missing in so many coffee shops. It creates a real community vibe. I will be back for lunch and provide an update! Thank you for bringing a gem to the neighborhood.

Guy + Larry does it again! This place is beautiful, very welcoming, and the prices are actually decent for a downtown location and for the portion sizes and quality. Today was only their 5th day open, so the energy is high. There was a line down the block, but everyone was very friendly and you could watch things happening through the big windows as you got closer. The anticipation was worth it! Inside, you get to watch everyone making pastry from scratch and using their hands. There is a separate coffee and drink bar in the middle, and lots of natural light and great seating. No laptops allowed make for a great experience where people can enjoy themselves and connect without any work going on. There are a lot of fun coffee drinks to try along with a traditional menu. I look forward to coming back again once weekend lines calm down a bit.

A very pleasant patisserie. It's quite crowded right now because the place is new, but I'm sure things will settle down and improve over time. On the plus side: the pastries are wonderful--the croissants are flawless, as is the salmon and arugula pie. The dining area is large and spacious, filled with plenty of natural light and fresh air. On the downside: the bar service and drink presentation. I won't even mention the burnt-tasting coffee--that seems to be the norm everywhere in Austin. However, the choice of glassware and the way the coffee and tea were served were truly disappointing. What happened to standard mugs with handles? Using handleless glass tumblers for hot beverages is completely inappropriate. The barista actually brought my drink wrapped in a napkin. Then there's the price: a green tea containing--at most--6 to 8 ounces costs $4. Come on, guys--it would be much more reasonable to serve the customer's tea in a small French press (allowing for a second steep with hot water) or, failing that, to simply provide a full-sized mug of tea, rather than serving it in what looks like a laboratory beaker. The black tea, meanwhile, turned out to be incredibly weak--completely devoid of flavor or aroma. They would have been better off just giving me a tea bag; in short, I've completely lost any desire to order hot beverages there again. They really need to switch up their glassware and rethink their portion sizes--after all, the actual cost of the ingredients for these drinks is next to nothing.

I went to Sugarwolf during their soft opening and was able to try a lot of their pastries, breads, and sandwiches. My favorite pastries were the coffee cube and pain suisse. The other pastries I tried were good, but those two were the standouts. For sandwiches, I tried the porchetta, framani ham and whipped goat cheese, french dip, smoked salmon, and smash sausage sandwich. My favorites were the porchetta for lunch and the smash sausage for breakfast. For focaccia, I tried the shakshouka and burnt ends. One note is that the size of the focaccia slices seems pretty inconsistent, but both focaccias were fabulous and flavorful. The side of pasta salad was nice and bright. The drinks were the only hit or miss portion for me. The smoked raspberry latte with espresso was unique and delicious. I especially liked the smoked salt. However, the black sesame matcha was disappointing. The drink tasted watered down and didn't have a strong matcha flavor. I also couldn't taste the black sesame at all even after they added more to my drink. Overall, all the food is high-quality and delicious. The staff were very friendly, and they've done a great job at designing the inside. There's a good amount of seating, and I loved the decorations. This will be my new go-to bakery downtown.

French dip and bread is lights out good. Place is great and service is on it. Will have to return for the pastries/breakfast.

Not gonna lie - this was incredible. Got the cinnamon roll and the chopped Italian salad (was going to go for the kale but they were already sold out). Both were unreal - everything tastes extremely fresh and the presentation is beautiful. Will be back

That alone made it a great find, but what made the experience even better was discovering that they also had live entertainment on Tuesday night until 11. It turned a simple coffee stop into a really enjoyable evening. I ordered a coffee and a brownie, and while the total was a little on the expensive side, around $15 or $16, it felt completely worth it to me. The quality was there, and everything felt a bit more gourmet than your average coffee shop stop. The brownie was delicious, the coffee was exactly what I wanted, and the overall atmosphere made the price feel justified. Between the free entertainment, the beautiful decor, and the location, it felt like much more than just paying for coffee and dessert. One of the best parts of the experience was the setting. Being right on the water made it especially beautiful at night. You can enjoy your drink, take a walk, look at the lights, and just soak in the scenery.
