When I approached the counter to make a purchase, I was the first person in line. However, I was completely passed over when you asked who was next, without any eye contact or basic courtesy such as a greeting or a "thank you." Shortly after, I noticed that other customers were received with warm greetings and enthusiastic service. It was deeply disappointing to feel overlooked and treated differently based on superficial appearances. Regardless of what someone is wearing or how wealthy they appear, every customer deserves to be treated with equal respect, kindness, and decency. I hope you will take this feedback into consideration to ensure that all customers receive fair and equal treatment in the future. Good bread by the way
As I walked in I was really thinking I could get a very good meal here but instead it is more or less a quick hurry up type of unrelaxing meal. People are not very friendly here they seem bored and they don't seem to help it's a very confusing layout I don't understand why this is even in the equation. I ordered a BLT sandwich it came to my table after getting a little sensor to let you know when your food is ready. My BLT was not that great it had a pickle that was spicy I thought was off. The bread seemed old and the bacon was overcooked not enough mayonnaise whatever they used on it I think they forgot it. Other than that I wanted to order red wine but they no longer serve red wine. I thought that was a little strange too. They only have Rose white wine beer sparkling prosecco. You have to be in the mood to have any of that. So everything I saw on the menu didn't look that appetizing. It's more of a breakfast place. Nothing more, alao they give you dirty glasses. I thought I could score a little bit of a good meal but yet fell flat. Honestly, I can't really say I want to return there was nothing there everything is crowded the tables you can't hardly sit down without sitting with someone that you don't know. The layout at this place is totally inconsistent with a relaxing breakfast or Cafe. I don't recommend this location sorry to say. And by the way it's a franchise as well all they want is your money they're very expensive for the little that you get. They will not be a next time for me not at this location.
Pastries and pasta salad were really good, some of my fav pastries ever. Employees were super nice and helpful. Although there isn't much seating inside other than a small bar, there were lots of tables outside and they use the patio of some restaurants that open later in the day. Would definitely go again, the Nutella morning bun was really good.
Smaller and less items on the menu and fridge selection of pre-made cakes is also small and limited. Parking is hard to find at lunch time. Staff was friendly :)
Heard about this place from an Instagram reel, they had very fast service and great food. I tried the croissants (didn't get picture) and they were great... didn't warm tho which was the only complaint. I loved the pesto sandwhich (but cheese slices were a bit overwhelming and not enough pickle. Parking was a nightmare but I would love to come back when it's not as busy! Otherwise good brunch spot with outside seating (but seating is limited). Bathroom was clean and the whole place was very well kept
I dropped by on my first day in Austin. I've never been to Austin before, but they were located really close to my hotel when I got hungry for breakfast. They had a few people come in to grab quick bites and pick up mobile orders. I ordered for takeaway and ate my food at my hotel. They got my order out quickly, so I didn't wait very long. I got a smoked turkey sandwich, an iced sweet tea and a cherry Danish. Everything was actually quite delicious. The sandwich was filling, the sweet tea was tasty and the cherry Danish was the perfect dessert to top off my little brunch ensemble. Definitely would be back if I was nearby!

After requesting it toasted, it was warmed and I guess the "everything bagel" seasoning was cross contaminated into the croissant but it wasn't a huge deal. I just swept the few seasonings off. The Nutella mocha latte was not too sweet either! A yelp review had me intrigued & it was well worth it. Decaf available :)
It's not bad. We went for lunch on a weekend and there was no wait and table for us outside. I thought our tab was absolutely ridiculous with two lunch and two coffee costing us $80. At that rate, I could just go to a sit down brunch spot. It's very cutesy - I just think the prices are way too high for me to be a regular.
I believe I've seen the South 1st location be hyped on social media, but this location was more centrally located between where we were leaving from (Rowing Dock) & the next activity (LBJ Library). I wouldn't say this place is "bad", but it also isn't stand out. Just a cute lil bakery/coffee shop. I bet a great spot for those who live/work nearby for a quick weekday lunch bite. The line was busy throughout our visit but never reached out the door. It's tricky because everyone likes to wait for their orders in the area where the indoor bar seating is, even if they don't stay there. We made it work! My cold brew was good, as was the pesto chicken salad sandwich I got. Even though it was white bread, it felt refreshing & healthy & not soggy. I caught my eye on the sprinkledoodle cookie - love sprinkles but doodles less so. We also got lucky with street parking but can see how it's a hassle with the construction project going on. I wonder if the South 1st location has a more extensive brunch menu, and maybe it'd be better?
Very friendly service! Decent bagel breakfast sandwich, but the chicken and egg salad they sell in containers are incredible! Very small inside, with not much seating so it fills up fast and gets a little claustrophobic. Overall worth a try !
Good food and lots of outdoor seating. We had to sit outside because there was a family inside (the indoor seating is tight and a bit crowded) and their toddler was crying and screaming incessantly, to the point that we heard it every time someone would open the door (this went on for almost thirty minutes). The service at the counter where we ordered was average at best; perhaps they were irritated by the aforementioned toddler. The server who brought the food to our table was excellent. I got an oat milk latte and the lox plain bagel, also soft, warm, and delicious.
Swedish Hill was highly recommended to me, so I was so excited to try! I got the ham and cheese croissant. It was okay, but nothing to rave about. I wish there was more cheese. I would go again and try something different, as they had a lot of cool options. The line was long, so be prepared to wait a little bit. The employees were very nice and patient. Swedish Hill is a great place to eat outside. They have lots of seating outside (on the side of the restaurant and behind it a couple feet down). The vibes were immaculate on a beautiful sunny day!
Swedish hill is either an absolute hit or a flop every time I come here. I'm not sure the reasoning -- but either the pastries are fresh and flaky, or stale and crunchy lol. Maybe it just depends on who is working, however, I feel like if I'm spending $6 for a pastry it should be pretty consistent quality. The service is always great and everyone is very kind. The place is quaint & cute, I did wish they had more seating outside or anywhere near by, but it's a cute spot!

The location is gorgeous but VERY SMALL especially when you're waiting for your order, you feel squished. The tuna melt was delicious and had a nice lemony flavor that made the sandwich feel light for a good lunch staple. Also was a pretty substantial size portion. Pesto salad needed salt or some kind is seasoning so it wasn't my favorite but not horrible. For coffee, the vanilla latte was quite tasty even without having overpowering flavor or being too sweet or bland. I also for an almond croissant which was good (not pictured) but I think I'll try something different next time. Overall the meal was good, but definitely on the pricier side. read more

This has been the first Swedish Hill experience and I really wanted to check out this location because it looked super cute!! The place is very dreamy. It has been decorated beautifully. The parking could be tough, but sometimes you might get lucky with their parking or on the street. I've tried the ginger lemonade, the chai latte, and ginger noodles (on the salad display). All of them have been delicious!! I also did order a side of sourdough, but for the price and what you get, I don't think it's worth ordering. Ordering is quick and the the orders come out pretty quickly. It has an overall great vibe to it. Perfect for an afternoon hangout with friend(s). I would def give it a try. read more
Swedish Hill has multiple locations around the city for you to experience a nice lunch, work-from-home day, or just a meet-up with friends. They serve typical cafe food, tons of pastries, pasta, sandwiches, and salad so it's a good lunch option. I typically stop in to get one of their packaged meals to go -- the chicken salad with a bag of chips is my favorite thing to get. Staff always does their best to keep the line moving, so when they notice me with food in my hand already they just come check me out. I've only been to the West 6th and S 1st locations, each of these locations doesn't have the best parking. West 6th parking is HORRIBLE and S 1st is a step above. If you live or work nearby you definitely want to walk or maybe hitch a scooter. The West 6th location is very small and only offers a few tables outside. The S 1st location is my favorite. There's plenty of seating inside and a nice-sized patio. read more

This place and Bakery Lorraine are the two spots with decent viennoiserie I trust in Austin (croissant like pastries - yeast leavened dough according to google) They closed the original Swedish hill so now there is a small takeaway stall and some patio seating still on W 6th a few houses down. Good thing the West Lake location is opening soon. I like their pastries a lot and the only thing aside coffee I get there: Kouign Amann, almond croissant, plain croissant, nutella buns are all solid. I want to try their baguette and breads one day. With how hard it is to find good croissants in ATX, Swedish Hill is much appreciated. read more
I think of swedish hill as a bakery, but they actually make a pretty good Italian sandwich! Probably the best sourdough in Austin (maybe Mum is better, but this was very solid) and a good helping of Italian meats and a spread of some sort (maybe olive tapenade). Add some lettuce, onion, tomato and this Italian sandwich I think deserves its place among the best in Austin. I will qualify by saying I haven't had an Italian sandwich that I really LOVE, but this one is worth it if you're in the neighborhood. My one gripe: the cheese was cut too thick; I'd prefer 1-2 really thin slices, just adding flavor, but leaving the texture to everything else in the sandwich. I arrived during construction, I think, so the interior is much smaller than what I think their more permanent location will be, so I suggest going around the corner towards the neighboring wine bar. There are a handful of tables & chairs in a little parklet (think "a parking spot that has a few tables/chairs in it" ). It's actually a decent people watching spot around 4-5pm as groups trickle into the wine bar. read more

Consistent good quality coffee. Never had a bad cup here! Love their lattes and all their pastries. Currently, it's "little" Swedish hill as they build out the actual spot. Therefore, expect a long line during peak times, it's a very tight spot. There is outdoor seating available but again limited. Been a big fan for years and will continue coming here! read more

First of all parking is horrible so if you don't live in area or are walking around getting there is tough. I ordered the smoked chicken sandwich. The sourdough is soft and really good, the dijon mustard is so strong I could feel it up my nostrils and had to take the bread off which was a waste. For $16 I've had a better sandwich and probably would not get this again. The pesto pasta salad was really good and this is something I would go back for. The iced matcha latte was okay, I ordered an iced lavender oat. I had a recommendation to go since I have been looking for the best Matcha in Austin and this has not been the best. Matcha flavor is good and subtle but there was no lavender flavor. Overall ok, line was quick and food came out at a decent time. The place on W 6th is small so you have to sit outside and if no room you can't eat there. For me a little overhyped. read more
Parking is tough. Employees are very nice, but service is slow. It took about 20 minutes for my friend to get her granola fruit yogurt. The hot matcha was good. I was disappointed in the bagel and cream cheese situation since it was pricey for what it was, they just gave me a toasted bagel with plain cream cheese on the side for me to spread myself. There's really no seating inside, so not the best place to sit and enjoy your food. read more

The sandwich was amazing, no doubt about it, but paid nearly 16 dollars for this sandwich. If you are trying to get your moneys worth, this might not be the best place but flavor wise it's amazing. The inside smells really good and the service was exceptional! read more

First time checking out Swedish Hill, and the flaky pastries were our favorites! I'm a sucker for anything cherry, and the tart cherry cream cheese danish, ham and cheese, kouign amann, and Nutella bun, almond croissant were amazing. We took a chance on the macarons (cranberry orange, gingerbread, and eggnog) but I'd probably skip them next time. As macarons go, they're not as sweet as others, which I appreciate, but the texture was a bit too crisp, not as much chew as I'd expect from a macaron. The coffee is nice and strong and doesn't feel watered down, I got the iced Swedish coffee (coconut cream and oat milk) and my mom got a hot almond milk latte with lavender. Both were delicious. Go for the flaky pastries and coffee! Sourdough looks yummy too! read more
I've been wanting to come here for a while, but I don't think I'll be in a hurry to be back, here's why: Parking: they do have a relatively large parking lot in the back/side compared to other Downtown ATX establishments, but it can definitely be hard to turn into when in busy, fast traffic. There is also some street parking, but the spots on the way to Swedish Hill require you to park back end close to the sidewalk...um, not very convenient when you are again driving down a super busy street which is unfortunately where Swedish Hill is located. Food and Price: I wish there were more sandwich/lunch options for vegetarians, or at least, an option to make an entree plate from the deli options. I had to order a cup of egg salad and a kale salad bowl individually and altogether that cost $18. Um, what? My boyfriend got a sandwich and drink, and we each got one dessert (one macaroon and one lemon blueberry cake) and altogether our food was $60...again, what? For lunch? The egg salad was good, but I feel like a scoop atop my salad would have sufficed...I didn't really need a whole cup... At least my blue-colored macaroon tasted fresh and was delicious (vanilla flavored). Service: It was obviously very packed on a Saturday afternoon, and I could tell everyone working wanted to be home, but it was almost like some individuals were angry? I ended up waiting 15 minutes to use one of three restrooms in the establishment because an employee was lounging in there for what I assumed was her work break. She came out with such a grouchy face, angry with the world...I get it, the service industry is challenging and customers can be demanding and ridiculous...but, maybe make an employee-only restroom so the customer isn't waiting and insanely long amount of time? Just a thought. read more
We arrived in Austin, and after checking in to our hotel our family suggested we meet at Swedish Hill. It's in a trendy neighborhood and has a cafe vibe. Food is pricey but freshly prepared and delicious! Nice ambiance and great place to hang out and enjoy a casual relaxed bite to eat. read more
