I'd give that a 4.5 based on that but for the food/ drink aspect: 3.5, 4? My sister and I stopped by for a quick caffeine boost - we were a little lost because the cafe is inside the hotel and you have to meander in (we got a lot of friendly greetings from hotel staff lol). I was looking for a coffee shop that was walkable, and it is in a great location if you're staying near downtown, Rainey Street, or East Caesar Chavez district. They box it nicely in case you can't finish it and need to take it to go. There's a nice little gift shop in the coffee shop and plenty of seating just outside in the hotel lobby. Good things is a cute spot!! I saw it on TikTok and decided to drop by to at least try the pastries. It is inside of the Fairmount hotel and they don't have a designated parking lot so when I came I told the valet I was just running in to get stuff to go and they told me to just leave my car out front and I gave them the keys. When i got to the cafe I ordered a breve latte iced with coconut flavor and a couple pastries including the vanilla brioche Feuilleteé (it's a soft knot pastry full of vanilla cream - delicious), and the pistachio almond strawberry tart which was very pretty with a shiny mirror glaze; also quite tasty but the glaze was indeed a bit on the gluey side (nevertheless I really enjoyed it and ate all of it though!). The baristas were also helpful and friendly, and while they made my drink I looked around the little gift shop area since they also sell little Austin things and convenience store type items. They do also have little pre made salads and sandwiches. Overall i really liked good things, it's cute and the pastries are fun! Wish it was a little more accessible ie with the parking (like if you wanted to get a drink and stay there I'm not sure how that would work), but still - the hotel is very nice and the valet folks were helpful so if you're getting stuff to go it should be no issue. read more

They completely sold out the first time we went and we decided to come back a week later! SO delicious and worth it (terrible parking options in the area though). I saw this place getting some hype recently for their pastries so thought I'd try them out. Unfortunately they were out of the croissants by 11am or so, and I got there at 2ish. So instead I tried a peppermint flavored pastry. I was a little unsure about the flavor but it was amazing! Stuffed with peppermint flavor too without being too overwhelming. The pastry itself was one of the best I've ever had. Whomever does the baking here knows what they're doing. The cafe is in the Fairmont hotel. People working there are nice and attentive. Stopped by Good Things while visiting Austin after seeing the croissants all over TikTok & they were just as good as everyone says. Flaky, buttery, and perfectly baked. The store hours seemed to be open all day but closed early some nights. The coffee was great. I had the breakfast tacos before and were excellent. Apparently Good Things has been around for almost a year now, but I'm not sure why it only now appeared in my Yelp search! I was surprised to find out it was located inside a hotel, but that definitely turned me off a little bit initially. Usually, stores inside hotels are a huge miss. However, I really enjoyed my experience here, and there was a specific barista who was really kind and even gave us a free PSL. My friend and I both ordered the coconut matcha latte, and I'm not a huge fan of matcha. I just wanted to try their specialty drinks. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed it. I am not a huge fan of coconut either, but the flavor of the coconut was nice, and it wasn't bitter from the matcha at all. My only complaint is that they do not mix the matcha in well enough, so when I had the latte sitting out for a while, all the matcha powder settled to the bottom. This shouldn't happen if you mix the matcha with hot water first. Regardless, it's a really cute coffee shop and I haven't been anywhere else that offers such a unique option. Their PSL is also pretty good, but we received a test drink that will be offered soon! Come give this place a try. I don't think you'll regret it. read more

There were a few unique drink offerings that my husband and I decided to opt for: The pink and green matcha and the espresso lemonade. The matcha was yummy, but I was honestly kind of disappointed there was no pink element to it. I was pretty confused when I saw that my drink was just green (not sure where the pink element was incorporated). The espresso lemonade tasted just like how it sounds, but it was pretty darn bitter. Neither of us were big fans of that one. The star of the show was the kolache we split. Delicious! Very flavorful and well cooked. This beyond cute coffee shop is a perfect stop for some drink and grub when staying at the Fairmont Hotel. I ordered the Chorizo taco, a Cappuccino and a Cara Mellow. Total was $17, not to bad compared to places like Starbucks. The items in the shop are pretty pricey but I wouldn't recommend going there for those things specifically. The tacos were flavorful and the salsa they give you is AMAZING. Ask for two cups!!! I got an Iced Cara Mellow which has caramel and vanilla.
