Lately I've felt a shift at a few places and how customer service has taken a plunge. I understand we are all living challenging lives now more than ever, but a simple smile goes a long way. Obviously i had a less than desired experience here on a busy weekend. The coffee and pastry (though really expensive for a croissant) were actually good and came out really fast. I could come back but given were have to park two blocks over and all the other options, id like to see a little improvement before i try again. Maybe i was just there on a bad day ;) read more

This beyond cute coffee shop is a perfect stop for some drink and grub when staying at the Fairmont Hotel. I ordered the Chorizo taco, a Cappuccino and a Cara Mellow. Total was $17, not to bad compared to places like Starbucks. The items in the shop are pretty pricey but I wouldn't recommend going there for those things specifically. The tacos were flavorful and the salsa they give you is AMAZING. Ask for two cups!!! I got an Iced Cara Mellow which has caramel and vanilla. I don't know why that combination never occurred to me but lord, I need to get it more because it was flavor heaven in a cup. The staff was nice and helped me navigate the menu and give suggestions. A lot of good things here between the cafe and the gift store. This place introduced me to Kosmic Kombucha which is realllly good and brewed in Austin. I recommend the Groovy Green flavor for sure. I also grabbed a croissant and chocolate chip cookie for my breakfast. If you're a fan of chocolate, this cookie would be perfect for you. The chips weren't really chips, more like slabs of decadent chocolate. My boyfriend had the Italian Chicken Panini which featured huge chunks of real grilled chicken. I guess I'm too used to the chicken they use at Starbucks which has an odd texture so when I got the real thing here I was blown away. The cafe is really cute and has a bunch of extra special touches including very colourful cutlery, all your coffee accompaniments on tap, and even a latte art printer. The are a ton of fun gifts that showcase the talent of Austin including cookbooks by prominent Austin chefs and chocolates from local chocolatiers. The cafe is more like a shop with no seating inside. There are tables directly outside of it and a casual lounge area with some couches to the side of it. I wanted to sit in the prettier area with the giant tree and the staff there didn't seem to have a problem with that. read more

Good Things was a gem in the Fairmont and people seemed to agree as the line was almost always out the door. They strategically place gift items to buy while you wait in line. I got the gluten free blueberry muffin and iced coffee with oat milk and the coffee was definitely the shinning star. For a random little coffee spot, do not sleep on their coffee making abilities. The kolache was ok but the sausage inside was fairly cold as it wasn't heated all the way through. They had a nice tea selection. I really wanted to try an almond croissant but could not financially afford a $12 croissant, I would have to take out a loan. read more

They have cool things here and the coffee is ok. I wish there was more variety of snacks. What I do love is their rippe machine. Ask to add phone on your coffee and the options are cute and endless. read more

The ham and cheese croissant is solid. Very tasty and hearty. The kolache and chocolate croissants are also very good. Everything was toasted/warmed. The flakey dough was perfect and the kolache bread was so soft and fresh! read more

Cute and convenient coffee stop inside the convention center. They have a variety of coffee based drinks and fruity spritzer drinks to try. I got their iced coffee and it came out pretty quickly, even though they were busy. I also tried an eclair that was filled with a chocolatey (?) cream that was delicious. read more

As someone who travels a lot for my job, I've had a lot of coffee from hotels and of course Starbucks, but their iced mocha was so good that I was compelled to write a review. They actually mix the chocolate in instead of having just a mass of chocolate syrup on the bottom. Also they were super fast and nice too! Strongly recommend. read more

Good coffee, nice ambiance. I have to say though, was shocked when I went to pay for an almond croissant! The total was 12.99! I was shocked, because it was the only thing overpriced there... the regular croissant was 4 dollars which seems not overpriced. I felt like there might have been something was wrong with the computer, so I did ask the cashier about it. I asked about it, but the cashier was upset for asking and told me that he didn't "set the prices", and of course I understood that. It was still shocking though and was just asking! I honestly have no idea how adding some almonds to a croissant adds nearly 9 dollars! read more

Pretty decent space, with copious seating space on chairs and long coffee-shop tables in the lobby. They have a decent selection of coffee-house classics, with along with an unique young green coconut latte which is mild and pleasing, as well as a selection of teas from Lot 35 which is exclusive to the Fairmont brand. You always judge a coffee house  - whether one inside a hotel or your neighorhood place, by the quality of their drip or house coffee, and on that metric this place has a weak offering, not only in terms of the variety of roasts and bean origins, but on the flavor as well. Neither does it deliver a pickmeup, nor does it have a flavor profile befitting of an iced americano or latte in the hot Austin weather, and I think Fairmont's lack of attention to this detail might let the coffeeshop down. On the otherhand, just the convenience of having a coffeeshop in a hotel, next to the bustling convention center might be what they are betting on.  I really hope they pay more attention to their coffee though. The pastries  - they look tempting, and while I enjoyed the tart, the Paris-Brest, which I tried lacked the refinement and the flavor profile you expect from such a dainty pastry. Picked up the fruit tart earlier in the morning, and it was well made, so things may be hit and miss depending on what you're getting. read more

Prices are ridiculously outrageous. $9 for a taco!?!? Wtf!!! $12 for prepackaged salad?!?!? The cappuccino tastes decent and I'd like to try the food with my coffee but I seriously can't justify paying these prices but I can justify giving this business 2stars!!! read more

All bad. You are a conference center cafe. They had no idea of their inventor. No customer service. No food hygiene protocols. To customer 1, "We're our of all sandwiches (lunch hour). We only have breakfast tacos ready now." Customer 1, "Ok. Breakfast tacos. To customer 3, "We have turkey sandwiches (not on menu)." Customer 1, "So, you have sandwiches?" To customer 1: "They'll be like 20 mins. But the breakfast tacos are ready and quicker." Customer 1, "But I've been waiting 10 mins for tacos. To customer 4, "What would you like?" Customer 4, "which sandwiches do you have?" To 4, "I have an Italian." Customer 1, "That's the sandwich I'd asked for and you said was out. And where are the tacos?" To customer 1, "Oh! They're sitting here." Customer 1, " No one called this out. People have been touching this, as we've all been standing here trying to figure out what is going on. May I have another? They take them away and I watch the prepper reheat and give the same tacos back to me. This place. So many problem. read more

Good pastries, but the barista didn't know how to properly froth milk. A latte tasted like espresso + unfrothed milk + some foam on the top.

This is inside the hotel. I used it because I was at a conference and I was starving. Their coffee is nothing special but not bad either. They only had 2 things to eat, very small. They can benefit from expanding the menu and offering a more local vibe. Maybe getting local coffee in. The service was great. read more
