We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were brought back to a booth immediately. The restaurant was packed and the noise level is super high. There are too many tables for such a small room .We had to wait over 15 minutes and had to get a waiter's attention. He was very nice, and professional . When the appetizers were getting ready to arrive, a woman brought out plates and proceeded to put them in front of us , reaching over me without excusing herself to where her face and mine were very close . The food was delicious. I recommend the mozzarella sticks and the meatballs. The lasagna is a very big portion . Caesar salad is incredibly tasty and the veal Marsala was god as well. A bad thing about the place is you have to shout at each other because it's so loud .

4.5 Stars Came with a friend one evening to snag a few drinks and light bites. The interior is so cute and romantic! They serve a yummy bread basket at the beginning with flavorful rosemary foccaccia and bread stick crunchies. The price points are on the high side but the quality is good. The calamari ($21) was wonderfully portioned, hot, and crispy and the Caprese ($18) was lovely too - it came with different types of fresh tomatoes. Our waitress was lovely.

I went to Sammie's for my birthday dinner and loved it so much I think I'm going to make it a yearly tradition. I loved everything about this meal. All of the dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious and they even gave me a birthday dessert. Our server was so nice and attentive. The interior design of the place is so good, like every aspect down to the matches and the photos hanging on the wall. It was just such a fun lively vibe in there. They even offer valet because it's on a busy street (not free, don't remember how much but it wasn't expensive). I cannot wait to go back!

Seriously such an adorable, intimate Italian restaurant! The service is absolutely phenomenal. It feels very upscale. I loved the waiters' outfits and everyone was so helpful, friendly, and genuinely made it feel like they wanted me to have the best experience possible! I will say it's pretty small, which means it gets loud quickly. By the end of the meal my throat was honestly hurting from having to talk so loud the whole time. Now to the food. W. O. W. We started with the mozzarella sticks, which were so solid! They come with a pesto basil ranch that I would love to have in my fridge daily. We split the lasagna between two people and still had leftovers. That being said it was also $38 so definitely not cheap! Although the price is worth because it's massive and everything I could've hoped for and more. The chicken parm was good. I wouldn't say it was phenomenal, but I definitely wasn't disappointed. Highly recommend to anybody wanting to celebrate a fun occasion or just wanting some bomb Italian food.

One thing: MOZZARELLA STICKS. These have changed my life and I'll never be the same, plus the pesto sauce was an amazing pairing. Caesar salad was super unique too and tasty. Rigatoni amazing. Came here as a late bday dinner with my Austin friends since im from Chicago. Such a treat and will be recommending to all my friends visiting Austin.

Quick and attentive service (in and out in about an hour). Old school Italian restaurant vibes. Portions are generous and will probably have leftovers! Parking may be tricky, definitely plan ahead.

My view for the evening - we sat on the patio, and it was incredible.

Sammie's is absolutely delicious, but expect to pay for the ambiance, the food, and the fact that it's an Austin staple. My fiancé and I had an amazing time, and the food and service were great again. Our waitress went out of her way to make recommendations, make our night so special, and ensure our drinks were never empty. We got the mozzarella sticks (with an incredible cheese pull), the Caesar, and I had the Cacio e Pepe. I don't remember what he got, but the dessert was spectacular - Millefoglie al Cioccolato. Everything was delicious, but we were just a little shocked when we got the bill. (It was much more than what we expected) I would love to go back to lunch and do their jazz and lunch event.

Had an excellent experience at Sammie's! The vibe is super cool/old-school as soon as you walk in. Love being able to see into the kitchen as well! Service was great, complimentary bread was yummy, and food was all delicious! A bit pricey, but a really fun time :) They also offer valet!

Perfect anniversary dinner spot!! I was craving the mafaldine pasta and it was wow...still SO good!! If you're a mushroom lover, you neeed to order this, i promise, its worth it!! The rigatoni was average. We got the cheesecake to share and it was meh, nothing special in my opinion.

Made a reservation to Sammie's a month before a spot was available! Had a late girls night dinner on a Tuesday & it was FABULOUS! More often than not I will try a hyped spot & not understand the hoopla but everything was divine! We ordered the vodka pasta, the cacio e Pepe & I also ordered the chicken parmigiana (not pictured) and the chicken was thin, crispy, perfectly accompanied by a red sauce with broiled melty cheese. I am very picky about chicken when it has "nasty" pieces & this one was absolute perfection with flavor, texture and thinness without being all breading. I would come back every single night if I could & order these exact dishes. Our waitress was kind and attentive! The restaurant has a nostalgic ambiance while still feeling modern and classy.

Sammie's has been on my bucket list for so long, and I'm glad we gave it a try. Service was friendly and quick to seat us since we were a walk-in and chose bar seating. The ambiance and vibes were great, high-energy, and I admired cute diner style aesthetic. We order the cacio e pepe and vodka pasta. The cacio e pepe didn't taste like cacio e pepe, because there was too much ground black pepper which ultimately overpowered the entire dish. The vodka pasta was okay, nothing stood out and made it memorable. I love pasta and italian food but this was a miss for me. Hopefully they can improve in the future.

Came here for a colleagues birthday. Such a quaint spot and unique decor. They were packed, and that seems daily! The lighting is very low for a dark ambiance. The hostess didn't seem the nicest, but could've been an off day. We were seated and promptly greeted by our waiter, she was great. We all got drinks and a couple appetizers. The espresso martini was amazing. The mozz sticks were delicious, I didn't try to calamari but the girls seemed to love it! Everyone offered the same vodka pasta, except me. Overall all of the pasta was delicious! The vodka pasta did have some spice to it. We were given a dessert for the birthday girl and it was tasty. Bathrooms were clean and overall cute space. Pretty loud, but would come back maybe during less busy times.

I absolutely love Sammie's! We originally had a table outside and requested to be inside and they were able to accommodate smoothly. Our server was impeccable. He was very attentive and helpful. He even gave us some recommendations of where to pop by nearby for some drinks! The mozzarella sticks are homemade and to die for. They come with two sauces to choose from and are very fresh. I absolutely loved both pasta dishes and you can tell the pasta is homemade. 12/10 recommend both these dishes. We came here for a special occasion and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. I would come back here in a heart beat!

Does Sammies still have a happy hour menu?

Are there any gluten free options?

    Do they have bar seating?

    Yes

The open table doesn't show me what's available - I spend a lot of time guessing at date and time just to say nothing is open. Then if I pick a date 2 months out, it says I'm too far out. How do I find out the closest available time regardless?

OpenTable is showing what's available - which is nothing, because this restaurant books out a month in advance. Check frequently (and early in the morning) for the date you want in a month from now.

We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

I usually only go to coffee shops to work, but today, went on a coffee date with my dog instead. There's ground floor parking in the garage that's complimentary for two hours. I kept it simple with a vanilla latte. I noticed they had tacos at the bottom of the food menu, but at $13.25 for two tacos + an a la carte item, I decided to pass. Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there.
