This is such a good spot in East Austin to grab lunch or a snack during the day I like to go during work because I work around there and I get tacos but their menu is extensive so it's a really great spot to go with coworkers or alone or just to order some food from there because their food is really good. They also have a really long drink menu and the vibes are great. It's inside outside so you can come with coworkers you can chill outside or you can sit inside if it's a little cooler and it's also walking distance from everything it's right next to civil goat and everyone is really really nice so it's a perfect lunch spot.!!! read more

I most recently ate...maybe six (hey, they're small!). Even the guy at the register, after my third visit up to order two tacos at a time, said, "you really like those tacos..." No shame, bb. The coffee line is the same though as the beer & food so the people in front of me kept ordering coffees which extended time I was standing in line. Lots of seating, some in a courtyard, on the back patio, or the other building across the courtyard. The carnitas tacos were good & came out fast. There's a self serve hot sauce fridge. A short walk from the hotel. A great place to try a new brew, whether it's coffee or beer. Wine and a small food menu are available. Upon entering, grab a menu order at the counter and have a seat. They will bring your food to you. You can tell it's a local hangout spot, with seating indoors and out, since it's cooler. The outdoor seating area is temporarily closed, along with the space heaters, which unfortunately weren't turned on this evening. Multiple people were trying to turn them on because of the cool temps. I would not recommend the food. I ordered two fish tacos. They were seven dollars apiece, and I could not tell if they were fish, chicken, turkey, or beef. The tacos had no flavor, except for someone throwing as much spice on them as they could. I don't mind spice, but I enjoy flavor beyond the burning heat. I enjoyed the sour-mash beer. Had I known the food was subpar, I would've ordered a second beer and not worried about the food. I've passed this place for years and finally stopped in tonight after a bike ride to meet friends for drinks. It was 100 degrees today, but they had plenty of misting fans going, sun shade sails, and ice water dispensers to keep everyone comfortable. There was indoor seating available, but we chose to sit in the patio area. I ordered the shrimp ceviche tostada and a cherry cider. The cider was pleasantly sweet without being cloying. (Thanks to the bartender for the recommendation) The tostada was beautifully prepared on a bed of crisp lettuce with a light vinegar dressing, fresh and tasty. The only thing missing was a fork and a little extra spice. This is a great spot to meet friends and just chill. Looking forward to trying the Airport location. Here for their 9th anniversary party today, although I've been here many times before. It's super packed, there's live music, the back bar is open (pretty much only opens once a year) with banana, coffee, and hot chocolate flavored stouts. By the time you read this review things will be back to normal, but even when normal, the beers are great and the food is too (I've heard people say Laz has the best tacos in Austin. When life deals you lemons...make...beer? My flight to Tulsa (via DFW) was diverted to Austin due to weather, and it turned into an overnight stay as the next flight out wasn't until the next morning. I've always wanted to visit Austin, but not exactly in this way! I decided to make the best of it and, combined with my gnawing hunger and craving for a nice, cold beer after 10 hours on a 737, I Yelped the nearest brewery and headed on over. Lazarus was just what the travel doctor ordered! I ordered a pint of their flagship Crazy Horse Czech Lager and a couple of tacos, then sipped my beer while enjoying their cozy vibe and festive holiday cheer. The beertender was super friendly, which cheered me up after being on a plane with lots of cranky babies (and even a few adults) all day. Soon, the tacos arrived. They were delicious! Slightly larger than a street taco, they were filled with amazingly seasoned meat (I got the carne asada and al pastor), all slightly spicy but in a good way. I was so hungry, I wanted more, but the kitchen was closed (did I mention it was late on a Monday?) - so I grabbed an Uber back to my hotel and dreamed of future trips to Austin. I'd been once before, thought their beers were ok but didn't have the food. A friend of mine came into town and Lazarus was nearby so I suggested going there. For a Monday afternoon it was pretty packed-but it was cold so the outdoor area wasn't really an option. We managed to snag some seats at the far end of the bar near the kitchen, it seemed like some staff hung out there after their shift so it seemed promising. It took a while for us to get a beer-there was only one bartender and he hung around where the customer density was greatest but even so, having to wave to an airport runway worker was disappointing. I got their stout and the torta and the stout was a little light but tasty. The torta's bread had the right amount of softness but the asada was a little underseasoned-their hot sauce made up for it. 2nd beer was same as the first, difficult to get the bartender's attention and there was someone at the other end of the bar, managed to get the 2nd beer, asked for the bill so we wouldn't have to wait more, drank it, thought it was ok. read more

This is a killer brewery with really fun beers and awesome food. The posole rojo is shockingly good. You will lick the bowl. The beers are really creative and fun, like Coffee Sour w/ Blueberry & Lemon and Rice Lager w/ Maqaw Peppercorn. The servers are really knowledgable and give great recommendations. Very cool brewery located on East 6th street in Austin. Both the food and the beer was top notch. I got 3 breakfast tacos, all were packed and big and really hit the spot. For beer, I got the 40 Days & 40 Nights, Big Sky, and Lightning Wolf, all solid IPAs. Plus they do 10oz. pours which I really like and lets you try more without having too much. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating space. Service was real fast, for both food and beer. They have 2-go cans as well, if I wasn't going to the airport afterwards I'm sure I would've gotten some. It's real close to Zilker Brewing, so makes a good 1-2 punch for craft beer lovers in the area. Very glad that people told me about this place and that I was able to stop by. read more

Lazarus Brewing was a fun spot to hang with friends over some drinks. They have 3 areas: indoor bar, indoor room that welcomes dogs, and outdoor patio. Smoking and dogs are allowed on the outdoor patio. There are fans, but they weren't on despite it being hot yesterday. The picnic tables are not super comfortable seating, but that's because I'm old and my body is broken. The indoor seating was much more comfortable and the AC was perfectly cool. I tried the watermelon sour and it was surprisingly tasty and not too tart. They use real watermelon juice so there was some sweetness. Their wine selection isn't great, but I'm a wine snob. The white was cool and drinkable. The service at the bar was efficient and friendly. Great spot for groups or flying solo, so go check it out! read more

I've been coming to Lazarus for the last few years. It's definitely an Austin staple. The East 6th location is wonderful - different kinds of beers, wines, and small bites, as well as coffee during the day. I've actually come to Lazarus several times to WFH, and it really surprised me! No matter what time of day you go, be it during the day for some WFH, or at night for a fun drink with friends, there are always plenty of other people around doing the same thing. Lazarus has a gorgeous indoor seating area and a ton of extra long wooden picnic tables in the back. I went recently on a Friday night to meet some friends for drinks, and I was happily surprised to see so many others doing the same! It made for a really nice atmosphere. We enjoyed some drinks, conversation, and laughs before heading to the next place. I like Lazarus because, even though it's on 6th street, it's an "older crowd" (think: no underage drinking). There are about 8 or so parking spots in front of the venue, as well as a bunch of free street parking along the road and on side roads. If you're looking for a laid-back atmosphere close to the action on 6th, Lazarus is the way to go! read more

The coffee has an always been damn good (particularly the cold options), and I had the Al pastor tacos for the first time last night... pretty darn good! She told me the options and told me I'm supposed to tell her that before she makes the drink in the snarkiest fashion?? Beer. Do you love it? How about varieties of beer not found on any store shelf in town? Do you seek them? If you say, "Yes!" to both of those questions, Lazarus is the spot for you. This location is on East 6th & Chicon, near all the other East 6th action, so you could make Lazarus just a stop on a long crawl. However, it's worth your while to hang out for a bit and make your way through the menu. All draught beers are brewed in house and there is something for every drinker. My faves on my first visit (during an early May heatwave, with 95 degree heat index and 64% humidity) were the award-winning Prodigal Pils, the dark & delicious Buffalo Jump Tmavé Pivo, and the Milagrito Tepache Sour. I loved that I can order an 8 oz pour of any of the draft options, and all the bartenders we met were super friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Yep, it's warm there on a hot day, but the misters and fans are going. My favorite place to cool off was at a barstool spot with the oscillating fan doing its best to keep us all from melting. They had a DJ spinning a great Austin-eclectic mix out on the patio, which made for the perfect backdrop to conversation. Last but not least, on this evening, Hoodoo Crawfish was serving fantastic boiled trays of shrimp & crawfish from 4:30p - 7p. Not sure if they are there every week, but whenever you get the chance to have that meal, it's a good call. The green salsa was very mild and added great flavor! I would get the tacos without onions! Two is more that enough they were FILLED to the brim and we left full. I brought a group of out of town friends here last st. Patricks day, excited to grab some of their decent beers and chill. Unfortunately, the woman behind the register said that one of my friends was too drunk and refused to serve him. I'm assuming that she was erring on the safe side because he isnt from the states and additionally does speak a little differently than other folks, but I can confirm he definitely wasn't drunk. That really put a damper on the rest of the night as it was the first time in his life he was denied service. It gave him a bad experience of what I think is a great City and usually a great brewery. I can't fault them fully because again, they usually do good work, I do however think they could put way more energy towards filtering when hiring for customer service and experience, because unfortunately this experience boardered on discrimination for how my friend normally speaks. I can only assume this person was a temporary hire for the holiday, hopefully they're gone and next time I go back they'll be back to normal. read more
