Ambiance is the best part of this place! Outdoor relaxed chill vibe. Can watch so many sports on big screens in lawn chairs. Yes, they are provided . Service was fine. It's order at the window and pick up when ready. We got the "playboy" sandwich. Brisket, pulled pork and Jalapeno sausage piled into the sandwich. Was tasty! Needed a bit more sauce, but had wonderful flavors and substantial amount of meat...but should be for the price you pay. $17 for just a sandwich is steep.

Chalmers has quickly become one of my favorite go-to spots on the East Side. Housed in a converted gas station, the place nails that retro Texas vibe while delivering seriously elevated food, drinks, and atmosphere. You feel it the second you walk up--neon signage, laid-back patio seating, and just enough edge to feel cool without trying too hard. The food? Ridiculously good. They've partnered with Rollin Smoke BBQ, and it's a match made in heaven. The brisket was tender and smoky, the tacos on fry bread were insanely flavorful, and the country-fried steak "wings" were a crunchy, juicy surprise. It's the kind of menu where you keep eyeing what the table next to you ordered and immediately start planning your next visit. Drinks are no slouch either. The frozen Dirty Shirley was bright and fun, and the Desert Zombie hit the perfect mezcal-tequila balance. Their cocktail program feels inventive without being gimmicky--like someone actually cares about making great drinks. Coors Banquet on draft is solid as well! Service was friendly and efficient. You order via QR code, and everything came out quickly and hot. Staff were around checking in, grabbing empties, and keeping the space clean and comfortable. Even when the place got packed later in the evening, things stayed smooth. Ambiance is where Chalmers really shines. Live music in the back, cozy fire pits, and a dog-friendly setup make this a spot you can spend hours at. It's great for a casual afternoon drink, a date night, or catching a show with friends. They've created something that feels local, thoughtful, and effortlessly fun. East Austin has no shortage of hangouts, but Chalmers gets it right--food, drinks, vibes, all dialed in. I'll be back. Probably this weekend.

Chalmers is a great place to catch a football game and get some drinks while at it. There's a lot of different food options all around as well. I ordered some margaritas that were great and a smoked mac n cheese that was absolutely delicious and only $5 but makes sense for the size. I got dropped off but looked like there was a good amount of parking for anyone looking to drive there. We went to go watch the Texas v OU game. It was incredibly hot and the screen did turn off a couple times which was for sure frustrating (and there could've been more shade but i understand that's difficult), but overall was a great time! Will be back for future football games for sure.

This place is awesome. The patio is huge and well covered- perfect for a big group. The tacos were great and my friends who went to the bbq place also liked their food. Will be returning! Also dog friendly

Very Cool Spot with a lot of TV's to watch sports games. Went to Chalmers for a Spurs Watch Party. The Taco truck is serving Great Authentic Street Tacos. Drinks are Good.

Chalmers was on my "try it out" list for a while. I love armadillo den and I believe the same people own Chalmers. So yes, I'm here because of instagram. I was influenced, but the hype was worth it. I actually stopped by unplanned when my partner and I were looking for an outdoor space to have a casual dinner. Parking was meh, we didn't have a problem finding some street parking though. It was the night before the UT/UK football game and right off the bat I for sports bar vibes. But it wasn't bad, just lots of huge tv's playing football. They had several fire pits with chairs around them, most of them had a reserved sign. Would have been nice to have some available for walk in people, it was a cold night. The drinks were good, I got the frozen Mexican martini. Decently strong, great flavor. We ate from the bbq truck, enjoyed the brisket "frito-Pie" and my partner raved about their chicken. Would definitely come back, probably not on a night before a big game. Lots of great outdoor space, clean bar, and good location.

Super chill! We went to watch the CFP and loved the seating options and the BBQ! The bartender was very very nice and made me a yummy cherry limeade mocktail. Would definitely recommend for an outdoor, game watching venue.

Perfect spot for late-night tacos!…read more The best part is that they have great vegetarian options, including both paneer and tofu tacos, and both are absolutely delicious. It's not always easy to find flavorful vegetarian tacos, so this place was a pleasant surprise. I loved it so much that I ended up visiting twice during my two-day trip to Austin. If you're in the city, this place is definitely worth checking out!

Sixth Street's neon and noise are basically next door, the Capitol sits up the hill, and the whole area is packed with people, bars, and that classic Austin mix of polished downtown hustle and late-night chaos. Velvet Taco is pure counter-service: you walk right up, order at the register, and then grab a seat. There's plenty of seating, so even with a couple of kids in tow it was no problem finding a spot. The place leans hard into what can only be called white-people tacos--soft, sad flour tortillas that taste like they came straight out of a grocery-store package, loaded with every wild creation the kitchen can invent. Global mashups, brunch hybrids, burger impostors, the works. No one is pretending these are the real deal. I went for the chicken-and-waffles taco, which was actually built on a thin, real waffle instead of a tortilla. Surprisingly good--crispy, a little sweet, chicken holding its own. The burger taco tasted exactly like a cheeseburger that had wandered into a tortilla and decided to stay. We also tried the shrimp taco (fine), one daughter got the kids' chicken taco (perfectly kid-level), and the other ordered the chicken tikka (spicy, saucy, and very much in the "why is this on a tortilla?" category). Everything was okay. Comparable to Torchy's in that same creative-American-taco lane. If you're looking for a true Mexican taco, stay far away. But if you just want to play around with some decent flavors on a cheap flour store-bought tortilla while sitting in the middle of downtown Austin, this is your spot. Not my favorite. Glad I tried it. Won't be back.

I had only stopped by this Food Truck (area) to try Desnudo Coffee, and spotted this business. I had heard some good things about Veracruz, but I was planning lunch elsewhere. Well, that other spot was CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS! Seeing my situation, I saw it as opportunity to try the options at Veracruz --- including the famous from Food Network, migas taco. I ordered 4 tacos: the migas, migas poblano, shrimp macha (!!), and the Dona Reyna tacos. All of these specific tacos were priced between $6 and $6.75 per taco, not bad in Austin, and not bad considering the quality of said tacos. As you can see from my order, I opted on the more "novel" choices and they did not disappoint; that said, I do HIGHLY recommend the two variations of the migas taco and the shrimp macha taco. Oh, the shrimp macha was so FIRE, the flavors were bold and smoky with a kiss of heat. The migas tacos were FULLY LOADED, and the scramble with the tortilla chips were flavorul. TIP: They will ask corn or flour --- do flour. Everything is handmade, but those corn tortillas fall apart with all the sauce. Flour = durable and flavorful. I had plans, but the Universe had other plans for me that were superior. Try Veracruz All Natural --- and if your limited on $$$, you can snag 3 EXCEPTIONAL LOADED TACOS for about $20, that you will not find anywhere else!

I walked into this unassuming restaurant and perused the menu, which felt like Mexican tarot cards. Pictures. Titles. Small description. It all looked basic. But simple food made with fresh ingredients and seasoned well has won Michelin stars. Unfortunately, I don't foresee them receiving one. The al pastor taco was tasty. The steak taco had too much fat in it. If I was strictly bashing this review on the food. I'd give it a three. It's not worth the price. Now, the service seemed to be decent until I didn't put a tip on my takeout order. Things seemed to go south. When my name was called, I grabbed the small paper bag and paused. No guacamole. If I hadn't have looked, I could've walked a really long wasteful before noticing. Maybe long enough to not go back. The last behind the counter, said okay I'll get it. It felt like a chore. I said thank you and made the long walk fighting the heat of the dragon's breath once again. The story does not stop there, I thought 3 tacos, a drink, and guacamole couldn't honestly cost $43. The guilt of spending that kind of money on such little food that was also just average, screamed in my conscience. Well, that was because the woman also had not given me my tres leches, which was going to be for my wife. I took the long walk back, stood at the counter for what felt like 10 minutes, and again it felt like a chore to get me what I paid for. No sorry. I would suggest taking a little longer walk to Taqueria de Diez
