On the drink front, the only White Claw flavor available was pineapple, not ideal, though the bartenders were friendly and the atmosphere has real potential. With the right crowd, this place could be a lot of fun. Now, the food. I'd heard good things, so we ordered. I'm not sure those people were sober when they said that. The fries were genuinely the worst I've ever had, and I don't say that lightly. The pork sliders were okay but on the dry side, and my friend's burger landed in the same "just fine" territory. Nothing memorable. To be fair, maybe it was an off night. The bones of a good spot are there. Nice staff, a vibe that could really come alive with a fuller house. I'd probably give the drinks another shot, but I'll be skipping the food menu next time.

We had a Yelp mini donut event, and the food truck manager told us that he shared space with Half Step and to go right in to eat our donuts. Reluctantly, we went to door of Half Step and asked was it fine to do so. The door manager heartedly said yes, please come on in. We were welcomed with open arms. The bar was mostly full and popping. They have a huge TV screen and extensive cocktail offerings. Since mini donuts do not normally go together with cocktails, next time we will definitely try one of their cocktails. The pace can slow down a bit during peak hours, but nothing out of the ordinary for a popular bar. They have a great outdoor seating area with a stage for their live music performances. They had several bands on location performing at the event. There was plenty of outdoor seating. Overall, Half Step is a great spot if you're looking for a solid cocktail bar experience in Austin with a relaxed, slightly hidden-gem vibe.

This spot is on a roof top on East 5th St. They've had some slamming tacos at an outdoor hut on their rooftop as well. Great bottles line up behind the bar, wines a plenty and in quite exciting news, a wide variety of sherries. I can't think of the last time I saw such a wide choice of them. Of the speakeasies I've been to, I think this one is the one I would associate with a romantic, date night the most. The vibe is definitely way more let me hold your hand while we sip insanely priced drinks, but totally worth it. Will definitely be back.

Very impressed with the drinks and I enjoyed the inspiration of Japanese liquor and design. Our bartender was so attentive and friendly. He made us shots and it was the best thing I've ever had. The bartenders were super nice and easy to talk to. It was really dark which is normal for a speakeasy but as another reviewer suggested, makes it difficult to read the menu. One thing I noticed was they were burning white copal and it took me immediately to Tulum, MX - smells so good! Parking was easy, in an alley nearby. It might be helpful for customers if they had signage in/near the parking lot - we were unsure if we were in the right spot initially.
