Rating: 2.3/5 We came here as part of the Austin Bike Tour. Cool owl themed decor. We each got to try two small beers, and our group of four didn't like our specialty sour beers. We couldn't even finish them, so this place was a miss for us. My husband and I got the following: 1. Cool & the Gang: Tastes like a light Earl Grey tea and was probably the best of the four we tried. 2. Tiger's Blood: Flavors are supposed to be strawberry, watermelon, and coconut. I didn't taste the coconut but got the other two flavors. 3. Pastry Gose: Pumpkin pie flavor. Mixed feelings about this one. My friend took one sip and didn't touch it again. 4. Fruited Little Boss: Sour strawberry and mint.

Came in from Dallas and was looking for a quick nighttime getaway. Wasn't having the greatest day but the bartender, Brandon, made my day, was incredibly friendly and a genuinely great guy walking me through the beers and making me feel so welcome. Had a beer tasting and sampled some of the sours. Great taste and smooth sours all around. Watched some March Madness and could tell this was a local favorite spot by the regulars and that there was a great sense of community here. Really impressed by this brewery and will for sure be back

Blue Owl Brewing is hands-down one of my favorite breweries in Austin -- quirky, creative, and totally unforgettable. The founders' fascination with Twin Peaks is woven into the vibe (yes, B.O.B. is a nod to that eerie spirit from the show), and the sour-forward beer lineup is just as bold and memorable. I took a tour of the facility and got a behind-the-scenes look at their unique souring process -- super informative and fun. They even hosted a playful contest at the end where we shared our "spirit animal." I declared mine was Beyoncé (obviously), and somehow that won me a growler, which I happily shared with the rest of the tour group. Total win-win. The beers? Absolutely killer. Their sours are tart, balanced, and seriously creative. Whether you're a sour beer devotee or just sour-curious, you'll find something to love. The space is dog-friendly, the staff is welcoming, and there are cases of custom-configured cans to-go so you can take home your own little mix-and-match party. If you're looking for a brewery with personality, flavor, and a little bit of weird -- this is the spot.

Stop 29, 4/10 for Texas on our Hundreds of Hops self-guided US Hop Passport Brewery Tour Amazing Brewery Race 2025 - not to be missed for sour lovers Among the most unique sour options I've had in a long while. They've taken your standard experiences & elevated them with a magical sour touch. We went in for our 1 and done but ended up adding a flight. It was just THAT good. An excellent experience.

I'm so impressed by this place! I'm not a huge sour fan by any means so I was a bit hesitant to try Blue Owl since sours are their specialty but oh my god their beers are delicious. They blew every sour I've ever tried out of the water. They have such a wide variety of flavours too so I'm convinced every beer lover would find something they like. The staff were super helpful with making suggestions too and also let you sample beers if you're unsure of what to get. They also have a great deal where if you buy a glass you get 4 pours of beer which is incredible. Their food menu isn't huge but they have enough to nibble on. Put this place on your list to try!

A good quality sour shouldn't necessarily leave you puckering like you just licked a grapefruit. Blue Owl comes through with sour beer that is both creative and not sour for the sake of being sour, which is a good thing. They offer a good variety on tap and while most are predictably fruit based, they do switch it up with a couple odd balls like tea offerings and my personal favorite: the Lunch Box (PB&J sour). Go for a flight, try a bunch. You can't go wrong. Although I didn't partake this time, they also offer standard beer styles under their pseudonym, Bob's. Nice place, super clean and friendly service. I'd go back.

Blue Owl is such a rad brewery. Primarily a sours place which I normally don't like. BUT they do them right! I've had four different sours here and they've been downright great. The hops POP! Nice spot to unwind and relax whether on the patio, at the indoor bar, or comfy sofa inside. Gotta love a brewery where employees treat you like a friend.

The most well done sour beer in Austin. Tigers Blood remains our favorite throughout the years here, but they always have great other seasonal releases as well. Staff is usually quite helpful and great at explaining the brews to. Ale sure you like your pick. More recently they have started to offer more variety of beers rather than just sours, but they really do sours best. Clean, cute bathrooms and lots of merch for sale. Not a ton of seating inside, but a nice sized patio for the area outside and most of it sis covered and has fans. Relaxed atmosphere, with games for you to use and they have some cozy seating and high tops inside, with a large window viewing the brewing facilities. Parking is a bit confusing for this pale, but there is a shared lot that will validate with code from the local business with the Holly Commons. There is some shaded parking from large trees in joining lots. Lots of painted murals and a very short walk to the front of Blue Owl.

Blue Owl will not be everyone's mugs of beer. If you enjoy drinking some one off beers then this is the place for you. They do sour beers like no other for insistence, a stout sour. Yes, a sout that tastes like a stout but has a sour twist on the finish. Mind blown! Of course these beers of this style are a one off beer. They had around 12 beers on tap mainly sours but the do offer a couple traditional beer as well. Oh, they have cheese you can purchase to go with that beer. Don't knock it until ya try it.

Campfire beer is amazing. Definitely coming back to try more beer. I like beeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I lived walking distance from Blue Owl for a year but never made it here. Four years later, I finally got to stop by to give them a try. I was very surprised at how big their draft list was as I thought they only did sours. Not sure how new the "BOB" beers are. Cool vibe brewery with board games and a mini library. Will definitely come back to try some other beers.

I'm so glad I made the drive! Blue Owl Brewing has been on my must-visit list since last year. From the moment you walk in, the friendly staff makes you feel right at home. The experience did not disappoint, and the cozy, charming ambiance was the perfect touch. Plum de plume is my new go to!!! cheers

What's with the giant sign that says "I Do What I Can?" It's clever over the canning line for sure, but is there more of a story?

Hi Kara - there's a little more to the story. The quote came from the painter Jan van Eyck, who was Flemish and an inspiration behind our sour red ale Van Dayum!. That beer started out as more of a Flemish style beer before evolving into an American… Read more

It's definitely an accommodating, welcoming space that's designed to sit and stay a while. You can bring your own family, of two and four legs, and no one would bat an eye. The beer is great and the bartenders will graciously guide you through the list if you're uncertain. Service is quick, easy, and to the point. I am going to go with a minority opinion here…read more But I am sticking to my guns on this one. I think the Zilker Brewing Company is a terrible brewery. Okay - I only had two of their beers ... so I may have been freakishly unlucky. But since there were only 13 beers on the menu - 2 out of 13 both being bottom 1%-ers is not at all an auspicious sign. Yeah, they were both seasonal specials and not Zilker's mainline offerings. So it could be that the mainline offerings are better. I still don't like those odds. The two guilty beers were a) LA Pilsner which tasted like nothing. The bartender told me that this is a beer drinker's beer. Beer that tastes like nothing so it can be consumed in quantity is called "swill" in my book. b) Culture Creature which is a fruity IPA. This tasted more or less like cleaning fluid. * * * Now to be sure, the Zilker Brewery was unlucky on two counts. 1) I was there for a SXSW showcase. They are an outdoor venue - and the night was unseasonably cold. The Zilker Brewery does not control that. 2) It did not help that the first two bands of that showcase stunk up the house so badly I left the the showcase in disgust. (Including the once-good band I had explicitly come to see.) * * * However, as a Yelp reviewer, I do my best to be fair and objective. I ran into the two-bad-beer problem before I hit the freezing-my-ass-off problem and before any of the bands had started playing. So I knew where I stood on the beer before these other distractions emerged. Suffice it to say, I am not coming back here to drink any time soon.

The front room as I mentioned is an intimate bar and lounge area with artwork adorning the walls. It's a modern, minimalist, and sleek space. The artwork is ever-changing (every couple of months or so) and the cocktail menu changes right long with it. Note: artwork is available for purchase.
