Fun little jaunt on this unique tour, in which a colorfully outfitted (both inside and out) tour bus picked our group up from the hotel, and drove first to one of Austin's most famed BBQ joints and then a cool local brewery. The bus is decked in twinkly lights and party regalia inside, and the best part? There's a full on three piece band crouched up front, instruments and all! The trio (guitar, drums, bass) regaled us with cover tunes and requests all along the way -- I still don't know how the drummer kept his rhythm on a swaying bus --- and a great time was had by all. Along the way a tour guide named Tex shouted out Austin trivia when the band took breaks, keeping us all engaged. Honestly this was one of the most fun things we did while in Austin. You meet new friends on the bus, sing awesome songs WITH A BAND on the bus, go places, and because ours was a brunch tour, got delish brekkie bites and adult beverages while learning about the history of Austin. We had a great time doing the Saturday brunch. The entire staff including Benny, Matt the bus driver and all members of the band were super personable. We started off at Still Austin where we had great drinks and amazing breakfast tacos. If you are here, also make sure to try the huckleberry food truck...it was WOW! We then went to central machine works and had some delicious shasuka pizza. This place is huge! We ended the tour at a third brewery (didn't catch the name) where we tried kolaches and if you were done drinking for the day, you could also have a cold brew coffee. Playing trivia was fun on the bus and the band did wonderfully playing our music requests. I would totally do this again. Throughout our trip, every staff member checked in all the guests regularly. The tour was done in a van with the guide driving and talking. A second member joined us and sat in the far back of the van and added information to the guide's on occasion. A third member met us at one of the stops. He played guitar and sang tunes from artists from Texas. We were given a quick overview of Austin and saw some of the main attractions. We stopped at a couple local shops which were lovely. The three hosts were very knowledgeable about Austin and the surrounding area. They were all very pleasant. The musician was very talented. Super fun experience! We went on the tour for a bachelorette - highly recommend! You ride on a school bus with a few seats taken out of the front, where the live band plays. We made three stops at local restaurants, where we were served one small plate off the menu as well as an alcoholic beverage. Food and drinks were great! Portions are smaller, but we were full by the end. In between the stops, the band plays and there are a few trivia questions (small prizes are given out). BYOB on the bus, which was fun! This past weekend my friends and I were in town for a bachelorette party. This was by far my favorite activity of the weekend!! We had an amazing time on the bus. The band was great and so was the host, Tex. He did a great job entertaining the crowd and making sure we got back on the bus safely and in a timely manner. 26-year Austinite and somehow I have missed this gem until now. Highly recommended! Friends in town from Boston set this up and I am so glad they did, and so happy I joined them for this "bus with a band on the way to brunch" extravaganza. Amber our host and guide was super Texas-friendly and fun, and Hanna Barakat (more at https://hannabarakat.com) and her trio delivered cool tunes and a great vibe on the bus all over town. The 3-hour tour was well-timed and well-planned, with three delicious brunch stops complete with adult beverages at each one. I was delighted to see Austin icon Maria's Taco Express as our first delicious breakfast taco stop, and equally pleased to hit Lucy's for chicken and waffles (and a cock-tail, as it were) and the new kid on the block Batch for Kolaches and craft beer to wrap up. Conductor Constance at the wheel drove us safely from stop to stop, and our entire crew, including visitors from Chicago and Louisiana had as much fun as my friends and I did. We chose a beautiful sunny 68 degree day, so dining and drinking outside and enjoying the Texas sun made the day even better. Blue Bonnet Benny was Fantastic! I cannot say enough great things about him. From his whole aesthetic vibe to his great attitude. He made the experience. The Twisted Texas Tour was a lot more fun than I expected. If you're looking for something to do in Austin besides just walk around Rainey and 6th Street, your group should book this tour.
