We have done the Big Gay River Float three different times and we have had the best time. First time was 4 yrs ago and we took the yellow school bus (with no a/c) and it was fun but hot. We have learned that taking the VIP bus is more our speed. We can have a drink on the bus and the group is usually pretty cool. They are so organized. We arrive at the pickup spot, check in, have a drink and it's all done seamlessly. Hannah was a great bus host. She's spot on keeping us informed where we are and what to do when we arrive. A friend tipped me off that this tour company was offering adults-only boozy brunch cruises around Christmas time featuring Buddy the Elf, and with relatives about to barrel through the door at any moment and invade our house for several weeks, that sounded like my cup of te-quila. It was even better than I imagined. I'm no huge "Elf" fan, but after several Palomas, Buddy's schtick was about the funniest thing I had ever seen. I also looooooooooved the dancing up on deck. We lucked out and had a lovely Austin afternoon on the water. The music was a solid mix of 90s throwback dance tunes, and the whole atmosphere was silly and lighthearted and happy. The food was very good, too -- pizza from Via 313, bfast tacos and a candy buffet. We ended our cruise with a special surprise from Buddy -- Santa had gifted us all with jewelry from Kendra Scott! I don't know how often that happens, but I love random surprises. And the retail price of those gifts was more than what we paid for our brunch experience. Score! What a memorable day! We did their brunch boat and that was great, but yesterday we tried out their bus to the San Marcos river to float and we had a pretty awful experience...we are hoping for a partial refund - that would make us feel a lot better! The bus was supposed to leave the river by four and we made sure to be back at the bus on time but then sat in it (no AC, veryyy hot) for an hour... Then made an unplanned stop in Kyle and that's when we found out the bus was not working and another bus was on its way to get us? We tried out this company for a San Marcos river float for a friends birthday and were pretty disappointed with our experience. This is definitely a great idea so that people don't have to drive after drinking, but I do think that they have a lot of kinks to work out.....especially when it is about $60 a person. First, when we were stopped at the convenient store to stock up on supplies for the trip, we were standing behind the bus filling coolers and the bus started to roll backwards. When we told the driver, he was super unprofessional and continued to tell us that the bus was not moving. He finally stopped it and let us know that the parking break was not fully engaged. Second, we got off of the river at 4pm (the time we were told to be back on the bus); however, we sat on the bus for about an hour before leaving. This is a yellow school bus in July in Texas.....it was hot!!!! Third, we made an unexpected stop in Kyle due to an overheating bus. We were stuck here for almost another hour. Several of the people on the bus called other rides back to Austin. Finally, when we got back to Austin, the bus driver dropped us 3 blocks from the drop off point because of an event downtown. I get that this happens, but look at Do512 and plan accordingly. Many of us had tons of coolers and bags to now carry an extra 3 blocks. This was definitely not a $60 experience. I will probably think twice before booking another event with this company. **UPDATE The company did refund us half of our money on this trip. The refund got them a third star. read more

We had a great time on the Sunday bus to Deep Eddy! If you are looking for something fun to do while in Austin, I highly recommend this. We met at Parlor & Yard (a cute bar with a bunch of games to play). Then you hop on an air conditioned coach bus for a 30 min drive to the Deep Eddy Vodka tasting room. You are allowed to bring your own alcoholic beverages on the bus (just no glass containers) which is pretty rad. Once you arrive at Deep Eddy you are free to roam the premises and drink all your liver can responsibly handle. You do get 1 complimentary drink and a 20% discount off merch when you book with Austin Tour Co. I really think this experience is well worth the price. We took the tubing tour for a bachelorette party activity and it was awesome! Everyone had a stellar time and Austin Tour Company took care of everything for us. You pay an inexpensive price to be picked up in a central Austin location by a bus. Halfway to San Marcos they stop at a gas station so you can get booze. They supply the coolers and the Texas State Tubes supplies the tube for the cooler and your people. Pro tip: get a cooler with cup holders. Our guides were Annie and Katie and they did a phenomenal job corralling a bunch of intoxicated people and keeping us safe. They were also fun to chit chat with! It's about a two out float and warning... there are rapids. I recommend going solo over the rapids and not bringing anything valuable. Austin Tour Company provides bins for you to put stuff in, but of course, it's a public bin for everyone in that tour. Overall, highly recommend! Drink water, wear sunscreen, and enjoy the ride! read more

Everyone read the fine print with the waiver on the tour. God forbid that their driver/tour guide has drugs or alcohol in their system and gets the van in an accident, the way it's worded, they will not be liable for any of your injuries etc. Now they maybe great and fun but all it takes is one irresponsible driver/guide. Had so much fun on the "Happy NOON Year" Cruise! My boyfriend and I loved the diverse crowd, local foods, and open bar. The DJ was really great, providing nonstop entertainment the entire time. I was offered a full refund or 2 complimentary tickets for another tour with the Austin Tour Company. I was pleasantly shocked at their amazing customer service and how they wanted to turn a bad experience into a good one. They truly care about their customers and want them to get the best experience possible on the tours that they offer! They also took the necessary steps to better their Libations Trail tour so that others don't have the same experience as I did! I DEFINITELY recommend using Austin Tour Company if you plan on taking a tour in Austin, they will go above and beyond to make their customers happy! Original Review: I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED in the Libations Trail tour that I just went on. I felt that it was not organized very well and was chaotic. 1st we were told to meet at the Omni hotel at noon for check-in but there was nobody there to meet us. The tour guide, Colin, showed up 10 minutes before we were supposed to leave, checked us in, and told us to get on the tour bus that was waiting for us outside the hotel. I'll give props to the tour company had us riding in because it was very comfy with leather seats that reclined and air conditioned. Once we were on our way to the first brewery the tour guide started playing music on his phone and we started to enjoy our trip. We were aloud to bring our own drinks on the bus if we wanted to. When we got to our first stop we got off the bus but no one in the group had any idea of what we were supposed to do. The tour guide never explained anything or where we were going or what we should expect once we got there. We weren't even told how long we were going to be there. The tour guide went to get our "free" pizza that was part of the package. He got 6 boxes and the slices that we got were little slivers of pizza and there was a group of 30 of us that had to split those 6 boxes. It would have been better if they just gave us a voucher and we could have picked a nice size slice of pizza for ourselves. The group split up and just started doing their own thing at the brewery. One person from each group that signed up for the tour was sent a text message when it was ready to get back on the bus. There was no time frame and so I went to get a beer and as they were pouring me a beer, my friend told me that we had to get on the bus and then I was told that I wasn't allowed to bring my open beer on the bus. Thank god the girl that poured my beer refunded me my money and we got back on the bus. The 2nd stop wasn't any better in the sense of anything being explained to the group of what to expect. Again we got off the bus and started to do our own thing. At Treaty Oak we had a voucher for a free drink so that was nice. We did get a tour of the distillery but if you wanted to sample the liquor you had to pay extra. The 3rd stop to the Argus Cidery and the Last Stand Brewing Company was the same as the 1st two where our tour guide didn't explain anything on the bus or when we got there. Overall the trip was fun except that nothing was explained to us and for someone who's never been to Austin it would have been nice to know about the history or something about the breweries and distilleries. I don't know if this was the first time that Colin was doing this tour but the tour company should definitely train their employees better. He was more of a chaperone than a tour guide.
