As part of a 4-day getaway for our 34th anniversary I thought it would be fun to do this with my wife. Booking was easy and it was easy to find the location. I booked the sunset flight. The day way fairly cloudy and misty but it cleared up some late in the day. Despite some issues with the taxiway and runway lights (which were the airport's issue and clearly not something Austin Biplane could be faulted for) and a cloudy breezy weather, it was a great flight! Rob pointed out all of the landmarks as we went along and got us in a good position to see the sunset as it peaked through the clouds. Despite the weather, he did a great job keeping the flight fairly smooth. As a retired USAF member I totally appreciated that Rob served in the USAF as a pilot. It was only about 60 degrees when we took off, but Rob was absolutely correct when he said we wouldn't need jackets - the heat from the engine kept the temperature perfect - not hot and not cold - glad we listened! All in all - we had a great time and I'd recommend Austin Biplane to anyone who is looking to do something totally different for an occasion! read more

This was the coolest thing I've done in Austin! I surprised my boyfriend with a biplane trip for his birthday and we both had an amazing time. I'm super sensitive to motion sickness-y activities and was a little worried going into the trip how I would feel, but the takeoff, landing, and everything in-between was smooth and easy; no problems at all! This has always been on my bucket list and Austin Biplane didn't disappoint! Scheduled this last minute and they were able to accommodate and it was AWESOME! Because of COVID a lot of the things we wanted to see, i.e. the capitol grounds, were closed in Austin so we were able to see them from above. Flight was smooth even with the wind and Rob was accommodating and informative, pointing out all the classic Austin landmarks as we flew overhead. This is a terrific, fun and safe way to see Austin. The ride over downtown Austin, UT and the Capitol is really awesome and then continues along Lake Austin out to Lake Travis. He flew right over our house and we got some nice pictures of our neighborhood near the 360 Bridge. I felt vey safe the entire way. Robert is an excellent pilot and draws on his experiences being a graduate from the Air Force Academy and flying F-16s in the USAF. Have a great time! read more

My husband proposed to me on a bi-plane in Sedona and, knowing how much I longed for a ride on the red biplane that flew over Austin, he gave me the best birthday gift ever - a Red Baron aerobatic ride with Austin Biplane. I literally squealed with excitement over the gift, but that was nothing compared to the elation I felt when I actually took my ride. First, Rob Whitehouse, the pilot/owner, is an amazing professional - he walked through all details relative to the flight made sure I was ready for the trip. The plane itself was shiny, red and beautiful - I couldn't wait to get in and take off. During the flight Rob made points to note the sites of the city and delivered the entire flight experience seamlessly - from loop, barrel rolls and wing overs to the smoothest landing ever. I did NOT want the flight to end and cannot wait to hit the skies again with Austin Biplane. The plane was equipped with GoPros, so fortunately I have a video of my ride to relive the moment until the next flight. Amazing flight! My wife and I really enjoyed buzzing right over the tall buildings of downtown and seeing lake travis and the surrounding hill country from the sky. The pilot did a great job of pointing out major land marks and safely flying us around the town. He also has 3 GoPros that captured the experience for us. Can't wait to get our video! If you're looking for a bucket-list item to cross off then this is it!! It's not just a ride in a plane. We zoomed over Lake Travis and we dove, climbed, looped, rolled and buzzed the shoreline to a gorgeous sunset!! If you've ever seen a sunset from a window in plane then you know what I'm talking about. BUT...we flew upside down in an open cockpit biplane, twisting and rolling as the sun went down. My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary on new years eve, so we decided to do something really special. We called Rob and made arrangements to take the sunset biplane ride which flies over the city of Austin, seeing the sites of downtown buildings, over town lake, and over lake travis. It was wonderful. The day was cloudy so we didn't get to see an awesome sunset, but that didn't spoil a thing. The lights of downtown, and over the lake was gorgeous. Many homes over lake travis were still decorated with Christmas lights. It was so beautiful. But the most awesome thing, was the plane ride. Rob is an excellent pilot. When we took off, it was like being lifted up in an air baloon. You hardly knew you'd left the ground, and the landing was the smoothest landing of any plane we've ever been on. Not scary at all, just so much fun. He was amazing. So knowledgeable and confident. I would recommend this to anyone looking to do something special. And thanks to Rob, this was one of the most romantic things my husband and I have ever done. We appreciate his doing this; putting others before himself. Thanks for taking us on New Years Eve.
