I actually went on this exact tour about 1 year ago & realized he was the same guy! We went on a slightly different tour than we did last year though. This time we stopped at the library, & it's BEAUTIFUL. My mother said "I could spend all day in here - you just don't want to leave." The woman doesn't even read...!! Started down "dirty 6th street," then the library, then around to different landmarks. One of them was the cemetery which was gorgeous & Doug said you absolutely have to come back. He gave us the option of getting off at the cemetery's aBoarding is at the Austin Visitor's Center which has free maps, magazines, & brochures - & some seriously adorable animal key chains, jewelry, & clothing. This was a fun little tour that took us through the city, through hill country with a few stops that included the library, the lake, and an overlook spot of the lake. Our tour guide was really nice and friendly. Our group consisted of just the three of us so it was essentially a private tour. It was in a comfortable enclosed van so we didn't have to worry about any of the outdoor elements. We got some history and insights of the city, a nice comfortable ride, and were able to get out and stretch our legs. If you prefer a more traditional tour, this is an excellent option. read more

This was a fun small bus tour which in 1.5 hours (perfect amount of time) took us all around Austin and environs with a knowledgeable tour operator. When we arrived on our "gals' trip" my friends and I were looking for a way to get a quick overview of Austin and this was the perfect, reasonably priced way to do it. We traveled in a Mercedes Sprinter which held about 14 of us in air conditioned comfort (it was a hot day!) We got to see all of downtown Austin and then a few outlying neighborhoods we knew nothing about. This tour helped inform us of some places we wanted to see more during the rest of our visit. read more

A really good surprise. We booked tickets at the last minute as so much around in the city was closed or already booked up for the day. The smaller bus was great, with a nice manageable size group. The bus top was opened up for an open air tour (as the weather was perfect ) so we got to enjoy the nice day, see more around us, and feel a good breeze. It took us all over Austin, around, here and there (not just the inner city). The view from the mountain top was super! A relaxing ride (aside from the road bumps/potholes) that wouldn't have been possible to walk in one day and/or not as enjoyable if we had to drive it ourselves, attempting to look for all these specials spots/and find parking. Sunday's tour, Austin +Hill Country 90-minute Non-Stop was very nice. I think our guide was Kim and she explained all areas as we drove past with exciting views. I had been waiting for a long time to see the Pennybacker bridge and I finally got my wish. The van was kind of uncomfortable since it was smaller than the larger Mercedes black van with open top. Hmm...I've visited ATX on several occasions and figured it was the right time to get properly schooled on Austin. Perhaps so, but class was definitely not in session during this afternoon's tour. Apart from pointing out some of Austin's iconic buildings, our guide said almost nothing in between "That's City Hall" and "That's the Capitol." Nary a word on the history of Austin or Texas, where to listen to music, who has the best tacos; notta. Highlight of the tour? The best tour I did in Austin! I had originally planned to walk and explore by myself while my boyfriend was in work meetings. Unfortunately, I did not feel safe even in the daytime. By the end of the first day I had already decided I wasn't doing any more exploring unless it was on a tour. That way someone could drive me around, and I would not have to worry about my safety. I had just done the duck tour the day before but wanted something a little longer and a little more in depth. I chose the 3 hour tour with AO, with stops included. This was such a great choice because it allows you to visit all of the landmarks you would want to see in Austin, you are allowed to get out of the van for a few minutes and take all the pictures you want, and you don't have to worry about safety! I also LOVED the van itself! The whole side and top of the van was glass, and you have the option to make the van convertible. Even though it was freezing cold, we opted to lower the glass halfway through the ride and it was SO fun. I loved the stops it took you too, especially Mozart's! Our guide was great, giving us all the information we needed but still staying quiet to let us enjoy the tour when needed. read more

We had a tour that used the open air van which was great. It happened to be a not too hot day so it was nice to ride around and see the sites without looking through a window. Our tour guide was personable and knowledgeable. He was attentive to all questions and making sure that we all got from the trip what was important to us. AO Tours Awesome!!! Our tour guide was Malina she was great! We opted for the panoramic van tour that took us to the hills of Austin. This tour provided headphones to listen to the narration of the different stops , provided hand sanitizer and is Covid Compliant. The most exciting part of the tour for me was visiting Mount Bonnel to my surprise it was a mini hike to get to the top but the views were worth the hike. I would suggest to AO Tours for this particular tour to prepare the guest for MT Bonnel suggest to them to wear a sneaker if they desired to be able to walk the rocky path and go down the stone stairs. I recommend this tour to all first time visitors to Austin. I learned alot about Austin on the tour and I'm better prepared for my next trip to Austin. read more

It felt on par with most surface-level tours that you can find in most American cities. You probably aren't going to get any deeper understanding but you get a nice overview of the City and surrounding area. I was in Austin for the weekend visiting a friend and she suggested we do the AO Tour and I am glad she did. I usually like to just wander around cities and discover things on my own, but there is no way possible I could cover as much of Austin and AO Tour. This is an excellent tour and I saw so much I didn't even have on my "go, see, do" list and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. It certainly gave me a lost to go back and look-up and learn more about Austin and I plan on returning to see a lot of the points around the city that was pointed out on the tour. In my opinion this is the best way to see Austin and then go back to points of the tour you was to visit/see in more detail. Like the capitol building...never would have thought that I would want to do a full capitol tour or the Driskill Hotel. These places, along with Mount Bonnell are on my list with I come back. My only wish was that we could have stopped for photos at a few points, but I understand why that wasn't possible. read more

Our party of 7 enjoyed the architecture tour with Doug, our excellent, entertaining, informed guide. The tour takes about 2.5 hours, with a few stops, including the wonderful Central Austin Library, Elizabeth Ney house, etc. While there is a recording that provides some info, the real "color" came from Doug who was fantastic. Let me premise this with I am not a fan of tourist city tours and if I ever do go on one it's usually just a nap I paid to go on. With that said this tour was extremely entertaining and our driver Joel was very easy to listen to and very engaging! I'm not one for tours, but I really enjoyed this short 90 min prance around Austin. Not only do you get a very thorough history of Austin with interesting facts along the trip but you get to see some of hill country too. I was able to book the tour the same day within a couple of hours and they even came to pick me up at the marriott where I was staying. The tour guide was really talented, driving and doing all that talking i think must be pretty difficult and tiring. the tour was $25. I went on an AO Tour on 10/22/18. I only had one full day to explore Austin, TX. I thought a tour would be a good idea. I came across and choose AO Tours based on its positive Yelp reviews. The tour covers a lot in 90 mins. and although we got a late start because of a few people in our van were late, our tour guide gave us the full tour. I really appreciated that. My favorite part of this tour (and something that this tour company does that is slightly different) was the "hill country". It is a part of Austin, TX I would have not gotten to see on my own. I also wouldn't have know what I was looking other than a super affluent area without our tour guide. If I had one complaint (and honestly don't know if we didn't do this because our schedule was slightly off, by no fault of the tour company) was if we could have gotten out and taken pictures of the "scenic overlook" in hill country. I gave up on taking pictures during the tour because from inside a van it is near impossible to get a good shot unless you're at a window seat (and even then we were usually in motion). In a nutshell, great value for the money for if you want to learn about Austin, TX and only have short amount of time to do it. read more

Had to make a change to plans the day before due to unforeseen circumstances, and Mary did an excellent job finding another tour that worked with our schedule. THANKS, MARY! So, i took a visiting friend and we did the 2 1/2 hour tour on Sunday with Ari as our guide. I'd done one before, and thought it was "...ok..." - but a different friend visiting brought me back to try again... AND I'M GLAD I DID! Maybe knowing what to expect helped, or maybe having a friend who enjoys history made a difference, but I was very pleasantly surprised! I love the added stop at the Driskoll, and being allowed to leave from there (our car was parked a block away, but it would have been a 4 block walk from the visitor center). The brief stops at Barton Springs, Mount Bonnell and the Driskoll were short but just right. Ari was very knowledgeable and had a few good stories to add! I will definitely do this again any time we have a visitor. And I plan on bringing my 93 year old mom on the 90 minute (non-stop) tour. read more

The "outside Austin" tour turned out to be exactly what I wanted. I could walk around downtown to my heart's content, but I wanted to see the rest of Austin. I enjoyed how they showed us the north, south, west, and east neighborhoods. They talked about the differences, the vibes, some people who lived there (celebs).
