His knowledge delivered what you would expect on a tour and his charisma provided charming and unforgettable moments. Returning for a visit to Austin a few years after moving away. Thought the duck tour would be a good way to see a bit of Austin today without the hassle of traffic or parking. Easy boarding, and an added attraction that boarding is at the visitor's center, which has lots of fun touristy items on sale. Hit just a few downtown highlights and back stories. It's not a fast moving or detailed tour - it's a shorter ride with more fun intended. The duck quackers everyone got when boarding were silly and fun and well used. Seating was a little tight for the grown ups (lots of kids), but the open air sides made up for it. The time on the lake was probably the highlight. It's a different perspective than the usual tourist view. We'd not do again, but were glad we did once. A little too loud and a little too kid friendly for that fifth star. read more

This tour was SO MUCH FUN!!! You meet at the Austin Visitor's Center and head out on this adventure from there. The tour takes you around the city and then you go down to Lake Austin for a cruise around the lake. It was fun, informative, and I got amazing pictures of the city. Our tour guide was great. He had so much personality and made the tour so much fun to be on. I recommend taking this tour first thing when you get to the city, that way you can see the places, restaurants, bars, etc that you want to go back and check out in more detail later. It gives a good lay out of the city. It's an open air vehicle so put on your suntan lotion, bring glasses, and hats if it's sunny. read more

This is a great tour if you want to get familiar with the beautiful city of Austin without hurting your feet walking around. The check-in process was very easy to navigate. Our tour guide was also very friendly, very personable, and very funny. We got to drive past a lot of historical buildings, and we're using these cute little duck whistles to make sounds at bystanders. The vehicle they use is also very interesting because it's both a street vehicle but can also go in the water. I've never been on anything like that before. Once you're done with the tour, then it's a great time to regroup with your family and then figure out what areas of Austin you want to do a deeper dive into. Overall, great experience. read more

Had such a fun day with my mom on the duck tour. We opted for the first tour of the day at 11 am to avoid the afternoon heat. Meet up spot was at the Austin Visitors Center on 5th street where you check in ahead of time. We had some time to kill so grabbed pastries and coffee inside the visitor center and browsed the souvenirs. Clean restrooms and roomy lounge area in the front. Our tour guide was informative and funny! Having lived in Austin for over 13 years, I still learned some new things about our beloved city. It was neat to see some of the celebrity homes on Lake Austin! Pro tip: Best seats are in the middle on the passenger side of the bus (opposite the driver side) Bring water to stay hydrated during this 75 minute tour! read more

This was one of the greatest discoveries, my wife and I've had in a long time. My wife located in advertising a thing called Duck Adventures. They are located in downtown Austin. They take you on this incredible tour of Austin, which is very historical and you get some of the most wonderful clear and deeply researched information about the history of the area and then they take you to the lake in a bus that drives out onto the lake and it floats. Yes I did say a bus. This thing is the size of a school bus and it goes right into the water. Crazy. It was the most fun we've had in the longest time. The tour guides name was Sean and he is just a powerhouse of information about the history of Austin and the buildings and who built them and how old they are and with the city was planning and as you drive to the lake, your brain is just filled with all these wonderful visions. Yes, you do get the duck lips and you get to blow them and it makes you sound like a duck and everybody does it on queue and waves to people that are wondering why we're on a duck boat. Or should I say duck bus but it's all in fun. Sean was amazing and I guaranteed him I was going to write a review of this business because it's an experience, you shouldn't pass if you're in the city. The driver was Captain Kirk. Well, Captain Kirk was the quiet of the two, but he was focused on safety and driving that bus to make sure everybody got home OK. And I would've asked for less and he gave me more than that. I felt completely safe in his hands. And he made the experience fun too. It isn't like we just rolled up and hit the water without knowing he prepared us and let us experience it so it was great fun. I could probably write quite a bit about the adventure at this place, but I think that you might do better just contacting them if you're in Austin and taking the tour it's worth every penny you spend. What a great way to see the city! Captain Bob was awesome...hands down! He had wonderful energy, was engaged and had everyone on the boat in a great mood and even gave some shoutouts to people on the streets along the way. You could really tell he enjoyed what he was doing; a very passionate individual. We came upon this by complete happenstance; looked out the hotel window and saw the "Duck". "Hey! Let's look that up and book a tour!" Online reservations were easy. Checking in at the Visitors Center was a breeze. Bob did a great job getting everyone into the Duck, seated and handed out the 'quackers'. He did a wonderful job pointing out the highlights and history of the city. We learned quite a bit along the way and had a lot of laughs. It was fun getting out on the water as well. He also let a few people drive the duck (on the lake) which was really cool to see. Bob engaged everyone from young kids, to long married couples and in between. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are in Austin and looking for a fun afternoon with some history, touring the city and cruising the lake. read more

My friend was really interested in going on this tour. While I was not as excited, it ended up being really fun and I'm glad I went along for the ride (literally). You can either sign up online or you can do what we did and that was show up to the Austin Visitor's Center off of 4th and Red River St. Once we were there we were able to get the scoop on every tour provided and were able to get tips on the best time to arrive, where to sit and obtain a map and see where the tours actually go. Our Driver, Captain Bob, a former school teacher, was not only safe on the road and in the water but he was full of dad jokes and interesting history tidbits. This tour takes you past downtown to some other trendier and upcoming neighborhoods and then the wheels move up and you can float in Lake Austin and check out lots of celebrity homes and interesting boats. The views on the water were beautiful and it helped us make the decision to stray from downtown and check out further areas since we wanted to see more. read more

Comfy ride, great for adults and kids and the special 'quacker' noise makers were a huge hit. A 1 1/2 hour tour. The only negative is the sound system is not the best. So I debated back and forth on writing this review. We paid $40 for tickets and our guide was under the influence of alcohol or another substance. She slurred her words, stumbled, had water dripping from her mouth, blurted out words at odd times and didn't know much history and had to keep being corrected by the driver.
