This was such a fun tour! The city is so beautiful at night, and the paddling was easy, and the bats were breathtakingly cool to see from the water. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and taught us tons of fascinating bat facts, and the whole experience was really fun and chill. Definitely a must see experience in this city!

Arguably one of my family's coolest experiences! My experience with Boats and Bats in Austin was exceptional! Aaron and his crew were second to none--thoughtful, kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly accommodating. The entire tour was well-organized and truly enjoyable. My kids LOVED it! The highlights of the trip were undoubtedly the stunning sunset, the breathtaking skyline, particularly after the sun went down, and, of course, the famous bats. Watching the bats emerge at dusk was a spectacular sight, and Aaron's insightful commentary added so much to the experience. If you're looking for a memorable way to explore Austin, I highly recommend Boats and Bats. It's an unforgettable experience that combines nature, history, and the beauty of the city in a unique and delightful way. Five stars!

We had a great time with Boats and Bats, the guides were super nice and the tour was really interesting and fun. It was cool having the mix of a free paddle and the guided bat portion. Very cool experience and highly recommend!

Before the tour, Aaron was communicative and made sure we knew where to arrive to, park, what to wear, etc.

I actually went on this exact tour about 1 year ago & realized he was the same guy! We went on a slightly different tour than we did last year though. This time we stopped at the library, & it's BEAUTIFUL. My mother said "I could spend all day in here - you just don't want to leave." The woman doesn't even read...!! Started down "dirty 6th street," then the library, then around to different landmarks. One of them was the cemetery which was gorgeous & Doug said you absolutely have to come back. He gave us the option of getting off at the cemetery's aBoarding is at the Austin Visitor's Center which has free maps, magazines, & brochures - & some seriously adorable animal key chains, jewelry, & clothing. Our tour guide was really nice and friendly. Our group consisted of just the three of us so it was essentially a private tour. It was in a comfortable enclosed van so we didn't have to worry about any of the outdoor elements. We got some history and insights of the city, a nice comfortable ride, and were able to get out and stretch our legs. If you prefer a more traditional tour, this is an excellent option.

Scrambling at the very last minute, I scoured Trip Advisor for a similar experience, and found Austin Detours. The tour was about to start, so I ran (yes, ran) through the 90+ degree Texas heat to arrive on time. My guide, David, was incredible, very interesting to listen to, and took us all around Austin. I really felt like I attained a better understanding for the city. He even took our picture at different spots, and the sweet treat was delightful. The only thing I didn't love was that the elder couple on the tour with me rambled about their political leanings, which I didn't agree with at all and I struggled to keep my mouth shut, but David did such a good job of delicately leading them off the topic on multiple occasions. Their tour is super reasonably priced, a value, really. I'd recommend them to anyone visiting Austin for the first time.

Why in the hell do people not tip tour guides? I can see if they suck, or the trip sucked... but neither of these things were true about this trip. Shame on all of the tight people who were in this trip with us. And shame on you if you can't give a few bucks to your tour guide! (End bitch session) As most tours, what can make or break a tour is the guide. In this case, ours was great! I apologize that I can remember her name, but I did attach a picture. So if you get her, you'll be entertained, informed and happy when the tour is finished! On our vacation we also did a similar (but larger) trip in San Antonio, and this one (Austin) was way better. I'm sure the City of Austin would say it's because Austin is more interesting, which may be true! But I'll say the small group and fun guide made this the winner.
